Nope, this one is literally unbeatable.
My friends and I beat it when we were 10. You just need to devote like a solid week to learning it. It's probably easier now with strategy and speedrun videos.
The US DOS version that I posted? Because I was not joking, I didn't mean just hard, I meant literally unbeatable. There is a jump only in that version that is impossible to make without hacking or cheating. That jump was different in every other version of the game, even the European DOS version.
So you bait just so you can post your image and fun fact about a version no one knew existed.
The DOS version is infamous for that broken level, it's not some obscure fact if you are into retro games. TMNT is hardly some random unheard of franchise either.
The game has a no-clip code so you can cheat your way through it if you want.
That was intentional, IIRC the game even starts with a warning that it was made by someone who hates videogames. It's one of the earliest examples of a troll game essentially.
Thought it was the NES version at a glance. The DOS version is literally unbeatable, yes. I'm sure some autist has found a way to glitch past it by now though.
>It's probably easier now with strategy and speedrun videos.
People always say save state is cheating. Using guides and watching speedruns is even worse.
even for zoomer speak this is maxium moronation. please remove yourself from the gene pool.
nta but what are you even triggered about? Some people here seem to get triggered by absolutely random posts
haha, this guy cheats at video games
>i needed to watch a video to find the exploit to beat this boss
what a zoomer
kids nowadays think shit like using a manual is cheating.
>comparing manuals to guides
Dishonest. If you're playing a game like Myst, a guide is the biggest cheat you can get. Depends on the game really
All of these games were meant to be beaten via crowdsourcing info amongst the neighborhood kids. Everyone knew where all the hidden power ups were in SMB because all the kids played together and shared the info. But since that entire dynamic is lost now, you pretty much have to use guides.
almost like context is important and these games werent designed for your tiktok "i must consume and experience" brain.
So would you rather they just not play them at all? The way people played these games when they came out is lost now and no bringing it back. In a lot of cases (obviously not all), guides are the difference between games still having life and falling into obscurity forever.
Yes, that would be preferable than endless comments, threads, and videos about how "X" game is poorly designed. Ether way we are not doing these creators justice by parading around falsities and disingenuous narratives. Creative work can be relative to its time and place. I don't believe in the pervasive myth that everything needs to be consumed endlessly.
Anyway, my belief is that we have already permanently damaged their work by not properly tying context to it. Look how many stupid kids actually believe Zelda was made for some tip hotline when no such thing existed during its development time. Hell, it even came with a half-drawn in map and can be completed with ease. But people don't want to understand it. They just want to tarnish legacy for easy clicks.
I beat it, so you're wrong.
Ghosts n Goblins
I've beaten NES GnG, but gave up trying to beat this one.
Last level is just too fricking hard.
Usa arcade? American version is broken like Ninja Gaiden 3 and Castlvania 3. In japanese mainbosses devils have more forgiveable moveset, but have more imps on level. Its strange, because you cant rent arcade. Japs just want american suffering, lol.
>Japs just want american suffering, lol.
Americans were more prone to feeding a bunch of credits to the machine just to get to the end. In Japan it was more popular to try improving and becoming proficient enough to beat the game with as little credit as possible.
>you beat the game
>lol jk back to level 1
More like dumbest game out there.
>what is a second loop
dumb shitter
Still dumb as shit to add to any game. Thanks for proving his point.
the only thing you proved is that youre cattle fodder.
>Thanks for proving his point.
Not him, but it doesn't even make sense to post this.
homosexual
If you beat it once, you can beat it again.
I've never played it but I bet I could finish it before I could finish Desert Bus
I've beaten GnG but I can't beat Castlevania or Ninja Gaiden.
Here's a lesser known challenge for those seeking novelty. In this game there are about 150 missions in the single player campaign. You only get one life, just like IRL. Additionally, if you crash too many planes, you get "retired". The flying is extremely challenging since you can't see very far ahead with the 2D view and enemy missiles are deadly. Just learning to land successfully is hard for many players. If you can actually beat this campaign then you have definitely shown you fear nothing when it comes to action games.
Holy Diver, Wizardry 4, and NetHack are worse. Much worse.
IO for Commodore 64.
Nah the hardest one must be some scroll shooter. Something like Raiden
its sequel Ghouls 'n Ghosts is harder.
No, it's not.
Takeshi's Chellenge is easily one of the worst because if shit is cryptic enough that you have to say "ok so what you do is" then maybe your game is a little too convoluted to beat normally.
No, its difficulty is very overrated. The shitty ogre combined with moving platforms and burrito spam is the only really hard part of the game(anyone who finished it knows what I'm talking about).
post 2all nomiss then.
>turn-based RPG
>hard
No retro game could ever be harder than Wizardry 4. It's neckbeard autism incarnate.
Not when Takhashi Meijin Bōken no Jima/Adventure Island exists.
>what is Arcade Splatterhouse
>what is Abadox
>what is burai ffighter
Abadox is one of the easiest shmups on the NES even for no-miss.
AC Splatterhouse isn't a pushover, but definitely isn't among the hardest out there. It's even been done with no damage by many superplayers.
touhou is much harder than your unknown grandpa game
>Is it the hardest retro game out there?
Out of all of the video games I've played during the last couple of decades, NOTHING messed it all up for me like Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin on Master System/Game Gear did, it was THAT bad.
I did manage to beat it on 2 out of its 3 difficulty settings, but the last one... called NIGHTMARE, I find to be quite an appropriate name by the way, it just couldn't be done, which is a shame too as its the only way to play with the Symbiote suit, I believe it was its 1st video game appearence too, anyways what really makes this hard, besides its controls and levels, is that you can't die... EVER.
ONE GUY? NO CONTINUES? Yes, it's one of those kinds of video games, you die ONCE and it's ALL over for you, back to the title screen. I mean, you can restore health by resting in your apartment, but you have an exact 24 minute timer to finish the adventure, and resting takes time, especially on Nightmare difficulty, it goes by in a flash, so you can't lose much health either, ever, I mean it.
So... how do you even beat this on Nightmare? I mean, it CAN be done, I've seen playthroughs by people that are far better at it than me, but it's clear that it requires a lot of time, not worth it.
If the level design and/or controls were good, I could see myself MAYBE trying to improve at it and finally finish it with the Symbiote suit, but it demands too much for such a mediocre title...
