Pretty much unless you consider PMD2, but that has some pretty different gameplay.

Usually the people who complain about linearity in newer games also don’t like the GameCube games.
Also you are ignoring the biggest problem with Sun and Moon which is that it holds your hand and treats the player like an infant.
Colosseum and XD didn’t do that.

No, Colosseum forces the player to actually beat consecutive battles without saving in between them. In every mainline you can save in between Pokémon League boss battles, meaning you can bypass the whole idea of having beat all 5 of them without losing because GameFreak thinks that is too much for children.
You can save more freely in XD, though not in the Orre Colosseum, which is some of the only good postgame content in any Pokémon game, even Colosseum has a shit post game.

Best games in general? Not even close, that goes to HGSS and B2W2.
Best 3D games? I'd say they're up there, if only because the console game's we're getting now could've been so much more.

Overlevelling Espeon and Umbreon/Eeveelution and Ursaring while refusing to use anything else like a moronic 6 year old is not how you play the game.

USUM is hard, but Kommo-o is fricking trivial and is probably the easiest totem fight in both games. Like, the battle is a fricking joke, you can blink at it and it's over instantly. Lurantis and both water trials are way harder, especially since they happen earlier in the game when you have less options.

no game with affection bonuses is hard

Just don't use them moron. The only game where that's a valid excuse is BDSP, and guess what that's probably the worst fricking Pokemon game.

None of the Orre games are slow. The fact that all fights are doubles AND because it's gen 3, that means you switch out right away when a mon goes down means the fights are fast paced. What a stupid post.

Seems like you really hate the hurt animations of the Colosseum games.
I get it, but it’s honestly my favorite part of the game.

I can see why people like the hurt animations from Stadium/Colosseum games but it would look super jank with the camera angles used in the actual games. Like imagine you use Surf in a double battle, then 3 Pokemon are simultaneously doing a 8-10 second long hurt animation before the next one attacks. It'd just be weird.

You should have a couple of levitate/flying pokemon that should do very well in this fight, if nothing else just to switch into them when you expect an earthquake. Otherwise consider buying the protect tm for one of your main pokemon, the fight becomes considerably easier when you can withstand some more earthquakes and it'll keep being relevant throughout the game so it's not a bad investment

you gotta kill this guys pokemon in a certain order to capture entei. metang and golem first(it doesnt matter which order these go down) marshtomp will switch in as soon as one falls, but you should ignore him for now. kill camerupt next, which will cause entei to switch in without friendly fire. switch in umbreon to tickle entei into the capture zone. umbreon and quilava will take care of metang, crocnaw will destroy camerupt and golems anus. espeon, makuhita, and noctowl will be useful here as well.

there isnt any levitates available before you beat colosseums story mode, and the only flying type is noctowl. also, you need to complete the story to unlock trades.

smogon context is homosexual context. it gets more and more unhinged as time goes on because smogon was only created to groom children.
                > Like everyone uses mareep in G/S lol
i didnt, i thought it was an early route shitmon like pidgey so the only pokemon i used from that route was natu.

        >The hurt animations are mainly a problem when there's a multi-hit move like bullet seed or triple kick, or damaging weather
the full animations don't play though, and in the GameFreak games it takes even longer because it goes
        >hit 1, animation plays
        >watch health go down
        >hit 2, animation plays
        >watch health go down
etc. on repeat instead of just playing them all sequentially

The gen 1 and 2 models look atrocious because they are from literal N64 games and look jarring next to the gen 3 models. The only challenge comes from the annoyance of your own Pokemon disobeying you and the animations being time consuming. It makes simple things like catching Pokemon and leveling up more than a team of 6 a painfully tedious process. I'm almost done with Colosseum and the dread of playing XD afterwards is almost painful.

It's even more jarring in battle revolution vs the gen 4 models, but given a few got redone between the Japanese and US release I'd bet they would have replaced all the N64 models if it weren't rushed to hell to get pokemon on the wii asap.

My guess would be Nintendo, being the publisher and 1/3 of TPC on top of producing the console, pushing unreasonable deadlines up. It was used to demo several features of the wii prior to launch including the wii-ds connectivity and storing data on a wiimote, it was one of the first games released on the console (less than 2 weeks later in Japan) despite how little time a relatively small team like Genius Sonority would have had to focus entirely on it after xd came out vs no pokemon on the gamecube until 2 years after launch, and it clearly had several features in development when the trailer was made that got scrapped. Not having a game for one of their biggest franchises that definitely sells hardware until years after launch was a mistake Nintendo didn't want to repeat, even at the cost of a less polished game. Sure the ds sold great even before the delayed launch of gen 4, but it at least had mystery dungeon early on. And that's not even getting into the backstory of the devs and how the studio got shafted into what it is today which I don't currently have the screenshots handy to post, but someone else usually does in these threads.

Yes. If you want a shiny Ho-oh you'll need to reach Navel Rock in FRLG/Emerald and hunt the one there.

It's not a high bar. Frick, the bar is so low that I'm convinced Gamefreak is making an effort to make the games shit.
It's not hard to do better.

It is hard for a bunch of incompetent fools who stopped learning new things about the technology and industry that made them so successful in the first place. Game Freak are exactly the same as the boomers (real boomers, not the 30-something's the barely legal kiddos b***h about) who never learned how to use a computer despite having no intention of retiring soon 30-40 years ago when it was becoming clear that computers were going to be part of nearly everyone's job then everyday life long before they would be "too old". The bar Game Freak are being measured against given their background is less "send an email with an attachment" and more "implement an entity list to load/unload game objects as needed and iterate through it to update everything each frame" but it's the same root problem. They feel like once they got to a certain point they don't need to keep up anymore because the world owes them continued success for who they are/what they did in the past, when in reality life is a constant journey of learning and if you choose to stop adapting to the changing world around you then it's your own fault when you get left behind.

In another franchise this would be meh games, but GF has done such a bad job with its 3D games that it turns these 20+ year old games into gems, I'm not a fan of these games or the main modern games, but truth be told "When the food at home is so shit, any McDonald's becomes a 5-star restaurant."

Except all of GF's 3D games are better than Colosseum, evidenced by the fact that you need to keep mindlessly claiming Colosseum is better while not able to reference a single thing that makes it better.

The animations in Colosseum are actually high quality, and unlike SwSh, which was limited to 600 out of the 898 Pokémon that existed at the time, Colosseum actually allowed you to use all 386 Pokémon at the time, hell, GoD would later add Bonsly, albeit only in Battle Bingo.

Samurai spirit, even mortally wounded, instead of accepting an honorable death, they use their last strength to try to cripple their rival, there are documents about this, with their belly open, lying on the ground, they pretended to be dead, just so that the rival would approach and they would give one last attack, they were not trying to kill their rival, but rather cut off his foot to make his life miserable, that was the extent of their resentment.
