I'm biased because It was one of the few PS2 games I owned but I really enjoy it
dungeons are simple but the heavy fog makes them feel spooky
Great music
Fishing minigame
Cute cat wife
Personally enjoy it more then 2 but there both great and you should try both
the dungeons get pretty repetitive pretty quickly but it has one of the best soundtracks of the PS2 era imo and it makes it worth playing just for that.
I tried it and it was fricking terrible.
Maybe it would be playable without the water mechanic and maybe if weapons didn't break after 10 hits. I think my game got softlocked after losing all my weapons and having no water.
Only played the demo as a kid, emulated it recently and wish I didn't, really ruined the fantasy I had created in my head all those years ago. It's ridiculously repetitive, the town building was probably only put in as a tech showcase, the story is really simple and there's way too many weapons and evolutions for how short the game really is. Even if you decide to play the post-ending massive dungeon (why would you) you'll still have to grind for many hours to max out a single weapon (why would you) while your party still remains squishy as frick.
I wish we had more games like Dark Cloud, Actraiser and Hinterlands
I love the type of games where you build your own cities / villages AND you control a character of your own, and the fantasy of being a mayor of your own town and being a fricking badass that goes out to hunt, bringing back riches to help the lives of your people.
Anybody know more of these games? Doesn't matter how scuffed or janky.
I have the game but I stopped playing after later patches broke the game for me completely and it started crashing within 15 minutes of gameplay
It's been years since and I'll get to replaying it eventually
Yes. Dont sleep on ruby either. I played this as a 10 year old boy and didn’t use any of the girl characters because girls were dumb (I didn’t use the black guy for other reasons) and ended up soft locking myself out of being able to beat the final boss. 2 was also a good game but leans a little harder into the “anime” aspect
building the towns is peak comfy and peak SOUL but I don’t like how there’s a “correct” way to build it so you can’t necessarily do it the way you like. I feel like the peoples suggestions shouldn’t have been so god damn finicky and specific
I don't even get the point of weapon breaking.
If your 20 hour weapon breaks you're just gonna save scum anyways, but even that probably won't happen because you'll have 500 auto repair powders on you.
DS1 is the only game I've seen do the repair mechanic right, and they fricked it up all the sequels before just throwing it out completely.
>500 auto repair powders on you
That's not a thing, on a normal playthrough you don't get a lot of money and auto repair powders are pretty expensive. You probably did a lot of grinding and/or fishing. >just save scum
That's shit game design (common in asiaticslop though).
imagine getting filtered by a 20 years old game and with modern internet where you can check out every secret you can while we oldhomosexuals had none of that and managed to finish the game as 7-12 yo kid LOL LMAO you shitters
We had a demo disk with this game in it and me and my brother would play it non stop to see how far we could get in it before the timer ran out. I don't think I actually played the full version till I softmodded my PS2 a few years ago.
I'm a bit into the second zone, really should go back to it.
it's very interesting, with the raiding and town building mechanics
The dungeon crawling is pretty repetitive once you figurebout exactly what to expect on each floor, but the atmosphere is pure soul.
yes

>is it worth a playthrough?
What have you got lose? Time wasted that could've gone to here?
dunno about you anon but its the fourth time for me
I tried it and it was fricking terrible.

git good
fricking Christ tell me how I know you never made it past the first dungeon? thirst and durability become a literal non issue
Why the frick would you bother when there’s OOT and MM
Because you can play other games. Especially if they play different
Because Dark Cloud is better than both if you're looking for a dungeon crawler.
Sony does what Nintendon't
Do you build a village of your own in either game?
If not, then frick off
they’re not even remotely the same gameplay wise. or were you one of those morons back then who assume “durrr he wear green hat must be zelda clone!”
Dark Cloud plays nothing like either of those. Marketers were moronic to compare it to zelda.
t MM autist.
>Dark Slop
More like Dark Dropped

harvest moon a new beginning on 3ds
Kingdom Come: Deliverance has an endgame DLC centered around that. You don't build the village but you pay and work to rebuild and run it.

Same. I think it's really hard to get the balance right. Dark Cloud and Actraiser are two of them. The new Actraiser certainly didn't.

How the frick did you beat the third boss without using Ruby?
Load up on fire crystals and throw them at the boss.
10 year old autism I guess. I also beat FFX using only Tidus, Rikku, and Auron

Not worth finishing but worth playing. One of my favorite game I have never finished.
The second one is a lot better, but yes.
Yes. The dungeon grind will wear you down midgame, but the pure magic and atmosphere of the first town is incredible.
You're constantly repairing weapons, I stopped playing when a weapon I'd been combining and levelling broke because I forgot to repair it
The boobs shake
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP didn't encourage you to switch out?
What beeping? I'm black btw
>each hit takes away 13 durability points so you only get one beep when you're already swinging
Get fricked lol
Everybody did that though. I think it's a tragedy, but adds to the experience.

Yeah thats what I'm saying, dummy.
>moron doesn't know about auto repairs
>blame the game
many such cases
no it's outdated tank controls boomer shit
Check out the Dark Cloud Enhanced fan mod. It adds a ton of nice features.
I am not getting paid.
Dark Cloud 2 is one of my favorite games of all time
imagine getting filtered by a 20 years old game and with modern internet where you can check out every secret you can while we oldhomosexuals had none of that and managed to finish the game as 7-12 yo kid LOL LMAO you shitters
This game was released in the 00s. You had internet.
nope
Yes, you did.

>Demo disk
Here's some nostalgia
That's the disk bundled with the launch console - SOVL
Dark cloud will always be the best. The second was homosexual anime coomerbait that neutered the city building aspect of the game.
The city building was literally the same
Yes, and the 2nd one is my favorite jrpg.
@669190450
you realize that not everyone is from murrica and not everyone had a computer in 00s right?ofc not you are a dumb zoomer lmao
