Akira is the opposite of almost every other franchise protag -- he's a nightmare to master, but a mastered Akira will make you reavaluate your whole life.
Thanks. Heard this a lot with VF5 when it dropped on PS5, but surprised to hear that's the case for VF4 Evo Akira as well. I want to play him cuz of Baji, but I don't mind building up with someone else. Kinda want to play Aoi since I like playing defensive characters.
The game is crazy addictive if you actually get into it, but it took me about a month of stumbling and a break to actually start playing VF. Aside from that, the biggest problem you'll see is the population. I'm guessing it's because of CEO, but ranked and lobbies have been pretty barren this week.
If you are a low IQ moron who struggles with the concept of neutral and just want to mash buttons randomly at point blank range, or the only controller available to you is a NES controller you might like it, if not they are other far better fighting games out there.

They stopped because no one was buying them, the only thing VF ever had going for it was it was a 3D game when most of the competition at the time was 2D and nothing else, gameplay in VF is shallow and clunky and lacks the depth of its contemporaries, so when other games made the leap to 3D it had literally nothing and was quickly forgotten.
You're obviously talking out of your ass. VF was always ahead of its time not only birthing the genre but by the 3rd game they were already experimenting with advanced rigging and uneven terrain, something which took namco 7y to do the same with Tekken 4. VF4 was the first to bring costumization, etc.

Fricking this! Dislike V. Fighter all you like but ignoring how it was always ahead of the game is borderline moronic behaviour from typical salty Tekken gays. VF3 alone was such an achievement in tech that its arcade cabinet is in the smithsonian and it won countless awards for arts & tech.

VF3 was well received but they scrapped the terrain feature for the next entry because, unlike Tekken which does not inovate in the slightest, and was borne out of one of the VF creators, Seiichi Ishii, tries new mechanics. You can play Akira and have fun, but just know that to get to the very highest skill level with him is harder than with any other character.
