I don't know, I don't think there's a hack'n'slash both as shallow and as action oriented as D3 available. Almost all of them have either more complex mechanics or are slower.
PoE is the only hack'n'slash faster than D3, but there are none shallower. Also not sure a single other hack'n'slash lets you get to max level and have BIS items faster than d3. People have full sets 2 hours after season reset in d3 every time. then you grind for better rolls.
A bit sad. I know this is an unpopular opinion but it being a mindless grind for loot makes for good end of day relaxing.

No, Diablo 2 is pretty dated by modern standards with it being restrictive in terms of what's viable due to enemies gaining myriad immunities in higher difficulties and the fact that several things aren't explained ingame forcing you to look them up online, things like rune words and horadric cube recipes for example
I played this game every single day as a kid, and I returned to this during the beta phase expecting to love it.
It has honestly not aged well compared to Diablo 3 (as far as the feel of the gameplay goes) or other clones on the market. Just wait for Diablo 4.

It's good if you played and enjoyed the original. If not it will seem dated to you and be hard to get into beyond a surface level without 20+ years of prior knowledge of how the game works.
