Is it worth playing. This has a 7.5 user score on Metacritic but DA2 has only 4.5. I understand its no where near DAO but I need more dragon age.

Every dragon age past origins sucks
Similar games to DA:O =
Neverwinter Nights
Baldurs Gate 1 and 2
The Witcher 1
Planescape Torment
Avernum series
Geneforge series
Pillars of Eternity
Pathfinder sorta
Also Summoner
Summoner 2
>The Witcher 1
Witcher 1 is atmospheric kino
3 is soulless slop
Its objectively one of the worst and janky video games ever made.
>janky
Sure
>Worst
No way
Maybe but it's nothing like BG.
yeah i was shocked to see how soulless W3 is in comparison to W1 when i recently beat it for the first time
that's not what OP asked thoughever
Its more constructive than saying no

reading posts like this makes me think of some oily nasty looking brown moron trying to look cool to Ganker users which are mostly just more nasty oily looking brown people.
top fricking kek.
that and of course the many that same gay their own posts because they are unhappy in rl
your post comes off as way uglier tbqh famalama
>Is it worth playing
only if you have no good games you are not yet sick of to play, and if you are incapable of doing something mildly useful or interesting in the real world.
wildly inaccurate calling all these "similar", but no question that they are all MUCH better games.
also great. pretty much proto jade empire/mass effect style.
It's worth trying.
It's just very forgettable. You're better off playing a worse game that will stick with you than something you'll forget about the moment credits roll.
NO
I couldnt make it through more than 1/4 of the way through when I was 22 and enjoyed everything. Totally invested in carryover choices and story, bought it day 1, just couldnt get over the MMO design.
This and Kingdoms of Amalur are the only games I ever dropped before No Mans Sky and I started gaming at 3. I think that says something about them.
Is there any mod or anything that cuts most of that shit out? Only way I could finish mafia 3 was with the mod that cuts all the grinding parts out, but dai is triple the size, and mafia 3s story was actually not too bad, but the god awful gameplay decisions made it so nobody would even want to bother to see it. I’d wager dai’s story isn’t actually good?
There is a mod that makes all the table missions instant and you can also modify the drop rates of crafting materials.
Then there is a mod that increases party banter since there is actually a lot of it that you will never hear at the default rate.
Gameplay is abysmal
I thought it was fine. Origins is obviously the superior game but I don't think Inquisition is half as bad as the morons on this board would have you believe. It's just mediocre
Its not mediocre. Its an objectively bad game. Tactical mode is broken because the characters frequently forget the commands they were just issued, the action combat pales behind games like FF7 Remake, the world is basically a soulless single player MMO, the story is some Skyrim tier le chosen one shit where all characters go from not knowing who the hell you are to licking your boots in 30 minutes, the boss fights are simplistic damage sponge fests and the rpg mechanics are reduced to the cancer that is the dialogue wheel. DA3 was a travesty and DA4 according to leaked footage is single player action slop. The OGs who built DAO and Mass Effect 1 and 2 now work at a studio called Archetype entertainment. Bioware is dead.
>my opinions are objective fact
classic
>overwhelmed and defaults to strawman
now that's a classic
Hes right tho.
> the action combat pales behind games like FF7 Remake
good. It's not trying to be action. It's trying to be RTWP.
>the world is basically a soulless single player MMO
Not really, it's just large zones. There's nothing about it that really makes it more MMO than any other CRPG aside from the actual online that nobody uses.
everything else though I agree.
>good. It's not trying to be action. It's trying to be RTWP.
FF7 Remake is a better RTwP game. And did you not read the previous sentence where I said the tactical mode was broken? Lol. You literally cannot play in tactical mode because party members forget your orders. Its KOTOR 1 tier bad
>Not really, it's just large zones. There's nothing about it that really makes it more MMO than any other CRPG
It has a HP mana regen hub, very few interactable objects buildings or npcs and a lot of generic fetchquests. All whilst music barely ever plays, which is something the developers intended.
https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/30osia/no_spoilers_is_it_a_bug_that_the_background_music/
It feels way more like a soulless MMO than other CRPGs
>FF7 Remake is a better RTwP game.
No it isn't. Whichever characters you're not controlling are 100% reliant upon AI in terms of positioning and enemies will automatically target whichever character you're piloting. Trying to mix RTWP with action-based dodging and shit is dumb. It's like oil and water
>, very few interactable objects buildings or NPCs
Has about as much as the nature/wilderness areas of any other CRPG. I guess you can fault DAI for not having much in terms of towns/cities but that's about it.
> and a lot of generic fetchquests.
Only in the first zone and that's basically it.
>fallout troony
>shit taste
>wrong opinions
Clockwork. Also Mass Effect 2 was shit.
I dont think there is a strong voice calling it bad, it really is treated as the eptiome of "so unremarkable that it is not worth playing."
Offline MMO
It's awful but if that's your thing, have fun.
I played this shit for exactly one hour before dropping it. How anyone finds this shit good is beyond me, honestly.
It's basically a better DA2.
decent story and good dlc
terrible gameplay
Inquisition is the patrician choice
My friend used to give this game to people he didn't like. Kind of an expensive way to insult someone.
Only on easy mode and still you have to deal with sponges
Above average game for me 6/10
It's not as bad as 2 but it's still got it's issues. Writing is more on par with DA2 than DA1. obnoxious leftoid preaching shit like Dorian's personal quest being about him being gay and Iron Bull having a troony companion. The timed mission board thing is fricking stupid but you can mod it out. Retains a lot of the shitty "minimalist" artstyle from DA2 though not quite as much
I liked the zone design. They were big but never so big that they had much filler shit. They felt kind of just right. The Descent DLC was cool. And it's actually a sequel to Origins rather than just ignoring the questions that the Witch Hunt left everyone with.
It is okay. Some of the lore decisions are fricking dogshit, and overall it probably has the weakest group of companions. gameplay is whatever, better than 2 at least
this game is very good, don't listen to dao cultists
7.5 is a fair score. Much better than DA2. Much worse than DA:O.
It's a 9.0 if you're a loregay.
Worth a single playthrough if you need more dragon age, you'll never be able to stomach a second though.
Sometimes I feel like I'd re-roll a fem-inq for her
Why, she is insufferable the entire time until the endgame DLC.
I only kept her because you can give her a broken build.
I DON'T KNOW
>hate that lesbian b***h for most of the game
>suddenly like her towards the end
the brainwashing works. beware this game
That's how all Bioware games go. Eventually even the most garbage hateable characters grow on you once they finally admit their own weaknesses.
Based Sera enjoyer. She likes Qunari women, so make one of those
STOP ENCOURAGING ME
I'm just saying you get some unique interactions if you're a female Qunari
You need some mods to make it better, but it is a good time if you are generally interested in the Dragon Age universe. I thought the group of companions you can recruit is fun because of how opposed to one another they can be (yet still finding some common ground at times). Do as little side questing as possible, only focus on the main quests and companion's quests, and see how you like it. The main story sucks, but Trespasser DLC salvages a lot of it.
yeah the tresspaser DLC was really good shame the base game wasn't like that.
Probably my least favorite RPG of all time.
>reach the regular Templar/Mage episode
>Black person is in charge of the templars
>in fact half of Ferelden is suddenly black
>uninstall
Simple as.
Don’t forget how they turned Rivainis from being swarthy to just plain black they even made Isabella darker.
Honestly it’s pretty boring and is almost unplayable without a game pad.
Let me tell you about trans rights and respecting pronouns, inquisitor.
Trans rights are qun rights!
>*fricks your ass afterwards*
Yes, it's a decent game
It's way too long though, try to complete it in your first playthrough
I never managed to beat the game because I kept doing new characters, trying new builds and I always get burnt out when I'm like 80% near the end, I got like 250 hours into the game
7.5 / 10 is actually an apt score
Where did it go wrong?
DA2. By the time that was ship everybody with half a brain had seen the writing on the wall and left.
Probably the beheading.
Try the demo or get on sale and see if you like it. Do what you want in the game and if you get bored, then drop it.
Its great. certainly better than DA2. for exploration and lots of mysterious stuff its the best DA. ignore the haters
Gameplay is terrible
Story is fine and the Inquisitor is a strong character
I can't recommend it. I've tried to go through it three times now and I keep losing interest.
The main problem is that the combat is shit. It's like they wanted two different things and ended up with something not as good as either.
You have the actiony combat, where you move around and attack by pressing buttons. But it feels like MMO combat, with stiff movement and cooldowns on every skill. Then there's the tactical combat, where you zoom out and order your party like in a CRPG. But you can't zoom out anywhere near enough so it's hard to get an overview of the battles. Also you would have to keep pausing and checking up on your party all the time to be sure they're not fricking up.
I wouldn't even mind the countless "collect X, activate Y, gather Z" missions that fills up every map if the combat was fun. But it's not so there isn't much to enjoy here.
Definitely not so bad as every moron makes it out to be i tried and finished this few months back and had a fun time except the MMO style quests and huge ass empty maps though.
It's fun in theory, but quickly drops off once you realize it's just Ubisoft open world single player MMO with some occasional story beats.
>It's fun in theory, but quickly drops off once you realize it's just Ubisoft open world single player MMO with some occasional story beats.
You haven't played a Ubisoft open world recent have you? Because that shit will recycle the same three mission types, all the way down to the story, over and over for 60 hours. Only The Division tries to mix it up but you still had to grind missions.
its okay
Origins is the only good Dragon Age game.
Inquisition is where writing starts to slip towards Andromeda tier garbage.
Everything in this game, from the dialogue to the characters to the RPG systems, to the combat controls and camera, to the world, to the way menus work, is terrible. It feels like it was made by people who have never played a game before.
The main story parts are okay to good but almost everything else is designed to waste your time. Some areas have interesting quests like Crestwood but you should only do as many side fetch quests as you need to progress in the main story and not get lost doing all that shit because you will be burned out and quit long before finishing the story
No, it's a singleplayer mmo. That isn't me being hyperbolic, it was literally meant to be an mmo but got scrapped mid development into a singleplayer game. The story is shit too. I haven't a clue what people were on at the time when they called it a comeback.
>it's a singleplayer mmo
Sounds awesome, people are the worst part about MMOs
I've been playing Ultima Online on a private server, very comfy
You're confusing Inquisition with Dreadwolf. The development plan for Inquisition was simply not be Dragon Age 2 and have multiplayer like Mass Effect 3.
You're right, I mixed up the two.
Dreadwolf is going to be so bad.
On the other hand, Inquisition had to deal with the frostbite engine. They had to add in tons of shit just to deal with third party camera, inventories, dialogue, rtwp that it just wasn't fit to deal with. I'm surprised that Inquisition launched as well as it did and wasn't just stuck in development hell forever.
No.
It's fun. Haters gonna hate
Critic ratings are worthless, they exist to gaslight you into buying shit. Watch gameplay videos with no commentary. Decide for yourself.
It's a single player MMO.
Story is really mid, generic fantasy garbage, and the main villain looks like it's cut from a Saturday morning cartoon. So, if you're expecting something thought-provoking or memorable, don't bother. There are hints that the story could have been more mature and political, but the sloppy way these themes were presented reveals that their budget went elsewhere (making large detailed zones for you to explore and kill stuff, and this can be somewhat comfy). My biggest disappointment was the party members. Many of them are really interesting, but there were no quests or opportunities to flesh them out and let them shine. Their backstory was told through you standing and talking to them, which felt really lazy for a bioware rpg. There are a lot of dragon fights, and that's probably the highlight of the game.
Warden, did I ever tell you about trans rights in the qun? I apologize for misgendering you, I associated your feminine appearance with your gender identity and therefore deemed you unsuitable for combat but I now see you identify as a male so you will make a fine warrior. The qun may have strict gender roles but your gender identity is yours to choose.
By the way my pronouns are he/they.
What the frick were they thinking seriously, like it's bad enough putting that shit in in the first place but why for the love of god would you pick the worst race to apply it to
The thought that people would think twice about whether they should take the word of a spy that belongs to a civilization that's trying to indoctrinate the world at face value or not.
Absolute cope. BW would never bait their troony fanbase.
Tbh, this is probably the only correct way to look at it, that it's just Iron Bull lying or his handlers knowing him being a gay would make his spy job more effective.
We have to remember that no matter what we do with his loyalty mission, he still ends up betraying you or partially betraying you.
It would be funny if they were actually baiting their fanbase, like you have the option to say "I'm actually a girl!" in Dreadwolf and the qunari say "get in the camp", but you know there's no fricking chance of that. The qunari support lgbtqmap rights because everything must be allegorical or outright reference the real world and the writers' beliefs.
>The qunari support lgbtqmap rights because everything must be allegorical
that would not be an allegory.
the problem is not allegory at all, it is the lack of allegory instead of outright and- most importantly of all- ARTLESS pandering.
you can always incorporate your beliefs and values into your writing, if you make it an interesting tale first and foremost.
but no, siege of dragonspear castles smacks you in the face that refugees are not at all a strain on a society that takes them in and a problem that has no easy solution, or that there are transpeople so it is only logical that you immediately want to know all about them.
how about not breaking lore in a world where gender change is a trifle compared to ours, and make it about a person who is actually a fire elemental that was for some reason born as a corporeal creature of flesh and you help it find out why it doesnt feel right in its body, or something.
that would still be a blatant allegory, but frick me if it isnt infinitely better, and it took me a hot second to come up with.
"seasoned writers" surely can whip up something better, cant they.
It's like the DnD wheelchair. Just wish fulfillment for people who are into woke things. They were probably worried about someone getting mad at the game because a lore faction doesn't agree with them. Expect Dreadwolf to be worse if it doesn't get axed.
I liked it. The whole game is pretty chill and the combat is kino moving between your party members.
Where DA:O really shines is in the lore and expansion packs. Trespasser is excellent.
I should also add that the best thing to do in any RPG with a customisable character is make them absolutely smoking hot. I spent 2 hours in the editor getting my Mass Effect Andromeda lady to be the biggest PAWG dick drainer in the galaxy and it made the game 100% better.
Play origins, then 2, finally ending with inquisition.
First Act of inquisition is awesome. Best part of the game.
After castle, game becomes stale pretty quickly. Story and ending aren't worth the 40-50 hour commitment. Most locations boil down to rifts, collectables, sidequests, and a later game dungeon+dragon.
Ai scripting is dogshit compared to origins macros. You never need to pause or tactical, even on nightmare+, if you choose correct party synergies.
8/10 game that becomes 6-7/10 20+ hours in.
It's a single-player MMORPG in all aspects. If that's your itch, go ahead
The companions are all terrible and the villain is an incompetent joke. I remember at the end of the game, I honestly didn't care what happen.
They tried to make a "living world" but it just seems like the real game is happening somewhere else. companions would rather be talking to each other then you, you follow the rise though the ranks of a POC knight via text (that is having a better adventure then you) In general it just ends up being a chore with no pay off.
The story and lore events are real frickin bad imo, they didn't even try unlike origins. So many places should be permafricked
Bioware ruined everything with scheduled blight every decade
Follow pointmarks anon! It will be fun!
Why are they so...
slimy?
Smoochable
It's fine, just don't spend too long in the Hinterlands doing useless shit. It's the first area and everyone gets stuck there trying to 100% it right off the bat.
Inquisition is tedious and boring. I hate DA2 and still think it’s better than Inquis.
It's the only Dragon Age game I haven't replayed
Baldur's Gate 3 is unironically the modern Dragon Age Origins successor
