the hinge on the lite is complete shit, the OG is sturdy as frick, most of them are still functional while the lite ones usually break and get unresponsive buttons and othe problems.
What do you gain from trying to hide a well known point of failure on the DS Lites?
It's like ignoring how the original fat DS didn't have a backlight, or how the small DSi had shitty shoulder buttons.
>the OG is sturdy as frick
LMAO. The only handheld that actually desintigrated in my hands. The shell literally started breaking apart after years of no use.
Get a DSi (XL or not) if you want to play DS games.
The original DS is Nintendo's ugliest handheld by far. It's obvious they didn't want to go all in before seeing if it would be a success or not. The DS Lite is more in line with with what you would expect from the company.
is it worth upgrading to the new DS lite from the original DS Ganker?
dsl feels better, battery last longer, backlight much better, and you can get them for like $20. If only 3ds were the same

the lite hinges are much better, the og ones suck wiener and break easily
i sort of disagree
it was 2005
just before trends of going towards i-pod white aesthetic or anonymous looking glossy vhs box became the new norms
it just looked like a more elaborate featured SP from the tail end of an era when silver plastic was still seen as futuristic
it was on its way out though that's for sure
Nah. I hear they're gonna release the DSi soon, which is basically a DS lite but it has a built in camera, internet browser, and an online shop so you don't have to go to the store to download games!
I wish I had waited for that. Did play my zelda DS lite plenty but the DSi was a better upgrade. But time moved slower then. Ended up skipping the DSi.
the brighter screen is noticable
the dpad of the lite is "comfier" in that it's softer in having some give
the phat has very little range of motion and is harder to press, but super clicky and clear when you activate it
basically, i destroyed people in mariokart snaking on phat better than i would on a lite
but doing so absolutely rekt my thumb and bending it all the way makes a loud "crack" in my joint to this day
Not sure if anyone noticed how bad the motion blur/ghosting/after images were on the DS lite. PSP 1/2k had it too. Not sure if the original DS was too dim to notice.
Looked up what I paid for my n3dsxl in 2016. I'm surprised to see it almost doubled in price. I dont remember last generation consoles increasing in price like this back in the 00s and early 10s.
I bought one new as a birthday present for myself the week it came out.
I thought it was a big purchase at the time but I'm glad I got it because the frickers never went down in price.
DS lite was the peak of mobile gaming.
Slim enough to fit in a pocket. Not wildly expensive. All those great 2d games from the GBA and DS era.
After this they fell to the 3D menace and mobile gaming has never recovered.

why go on the internet and tell lies?
shit meme, hinges on mine are perfectly fine
stop throwing your shit around

How do you fix it? My DSlite has a broken hinge that I never bothered to repair since I was a kid. I always felt bad about it
you have to change the whole body of it, that's why i haven't fixed mine, i just feel that at some point it's not even gonna be the same ds.
Really? Damn, that sucks. I should have gotten it repared all those years ago..
>the OG is sturdy as frick
The hinge on my DS fat broke
it's actually the other way around
Can confirm. My DS Lite has
>broken hinge
>R button is fricked
>mic doesn't work
>the OG is sturdy as frick

At least it kept its GBA port unlike the DSi

the transparent gameboys were much uglier
What a nice beefy D-pad. All handheld controls have sucked since
those were sick

The Lite has a brighter screen and better stylus, but everything else is a downgrade. The buttons are crap and the hinge is flimsy.
Just won an ebay bid for Advance Wars Dual Strike, managed to get it for 27€ delivery included. How did i do?
>bought a DS lite
>one pixel on the bottom screen is permanently blue
How do I fix this?
I tried and tried and never got rid of a green one on my zelda ds lite. Pixel changing programs and massaging it did nothing.
Its a dead pixel. Trying to fix it would probably cost more than the value of the handheld
good to see the DS bot still posting here

No. Get a DSi XL instead. They're still cheap.

I regret so much not getting a New 3DS when I could, every single new one costs as much as a fricking Switch.
Looked up what I paid for my n3dsxl in 2016. I'm surprised to see it almost doubled in price. I dont remember last generation consoles increasing in price like this back in the 00s and early 10s.
I think this is exclusively about the N3DS because it came late in 3DS's lifecycle and was then replaced by the 2DSXL.
I just don't want to get a used one because they are all bound to be old and I'm worried about the hinge.
I bought one new as a birthday present for myself the week it came out.

The only feature you're missing is backlight control and that can be easily resolved by installing flashme, so no.
Bad console. No games. Save your money and get a laptop.
