The assumption is probably that it's either a CRPG or some sort of first or third person action RPG right? I would assume they're sticking to CRPG since their studio is so big now and full of people with experience in that genre.

I won't bother because Larian never finishes their games.
They are the ultimate waste dozens of hours of your life for underwhelming non-endings slop factory.

If you define rushed, buggy final archs that fail to deliver payoff and ignore many minor plot threads from earlier arcs, yes they are.

NTA but dude, you didn't even have to be super OP to literally 2 shot the last boss in Dos1 (even in enhanced edition). Little stories along the way were way more interesting than the main quest that just fell flat. I couldn't even finish Dos2 because it was such a slog. Gave up in act 3 and never looked back.

On release? Not at all, lmao. Their games go through 1+ years of "post-launch updates" (extended early access) until they're finally finished.
Hell, even more with BG3, Act 3 was incredibly buggy and blatantly unfinished, they added endings for character quests months later, and their next patch is going to add actual conclusions for evil quests.

Both DOS1 and DOS2 have generic big boss fights in the end where you get to save the world, what else do you want from a generic fantasy story? They even rewrote the ending for DOS1 EE.

        >what else do you want from a generic fantasy story?

        The end of DOS 2:

        What happened to your character?
Did your character accomplish his/her goals?
        We don't know!
        you decide ;D

Also, the plot twist at the end makes it so that you could have got the same ending by letting your character die at the end of chapter 1. you literally were just wasting everybodies time.

I gotta agree with this. Most of their games feel like only the first 20% of them are actually fleshed out with interesting quests and settings, and then they just mail it in until the end.
I backed Dos1 and I actually regretted it. Awful company.

Considering their track record it could be
    crpg
    Tp arpg
    Isometric arpg (aka diabloclone)
    Strategy game with rpg elements

        that's Lariangays, sorry
sci fi also lends itself to more complex systems, when larian can't even handle copying D&Ds without fricking it up in UI

How are people still unironically posting this shit when Chinese own devs make a ton of horror and fantasy games with all kinds of demons, skeletons and everything that is supposedly "banned" in China? I swear to god, one morons says something and others just keep parroting it for years without even checking to see if it's true.

    >Larian makes an RPG
    >Gives you a ton of options to create the illusion of variety
    >Melee characters suck ass due to everything always being on fire
    >Instead of remedying that in Dos2, they make it so the fire becomes CURSED fire that is impossible to be put out every time
Inb4 you can bless it. Yeah and then a cursed revenant bleeds CURSED blood into it and makes it into CURSED fire again.
I swear to god, Larian devs are a bunch of moronic apes.

    >Dos1 is a CC fiesta
    >To prevent this in Dos2, they introduce one of the WORST armor systems ever in a RPG game
    >People keep forcing full physical party to avoid fights being an absolute slog 90% of the time
