I just started playing and I'm going all technique with rapier +4, is Etiquette worth it or should I keep using the rapier and save my materials for something better?
You end up getting quite a few of the early upgrade items later
you can only max upgrade two unique weapons and +3 like two more. Wait with upgrading til you see more weapons and just pick what you like

no, you unlock each tier by getting two full nodes of any tier, so you can save your quartz and get earlier ones if you want something specific later (you likely won't), also makes sense if you want to stack a single color passives since a color can't repeat on a single node.
there's a respec but it's like third to halfway through the game and you just started. it's no big deal really.

literally all I want is rising dodge, I keep getting pummeled while I'm knocked down. That should be a built in ability
yeah that one is pretty useful, otherwise you won't avoid some follow ups.
my advice is to get used to blocking and trying to perfect block as much as you can, it deals a lot of stagger, with upgrades will deal even more and restore your fable, can weapon break some enemies and even bosses, the game clearly favours parrying over dodging. just don't tap it like sekiro, hold it for a bit to get full parry frames, also good safe habit to form is holding it all the time during enemy turn only briefly letting go before the attack to immediately block again for parry, that way you'll at least be protected against weird combos and stuff, normal block is pretty useful especially with bigger blades. personally I even rebound dodge to l2 to be able to sprint with camera in comfort without using that weird claw grip, though that killed a decade of muscle memory for dodges so I barely use them.
it's a soulslike that's a mix of sekiro and Bloodborne. completely linear save for a bit of side quests and some rare optional rooms. fairly challenging but nothing too crazy. ridiculously polished perhaps to even above the nu-from level. well made all around from art direction and animations to ost.
whether you enjoy this game or not depends on whether you like sekiro Bloodborne and soulslikes in general and if you can get behind linearity or if it is a deal breaker. it is perhaps the best non-from soulslike there is.
