1 is top tier
2 is good but a little short
3 has good gameplay but ditched the style of the earlier games
>the cover shit
a mechanic that you should never use and which Rockstar themselves made as irrelevant as possible in practice >can't carry a bunch of weapons
I could give you this one, but honestly, did you use anything other than pistols + shotgun/M4 in the original games? >the last stand mechanic
turn it off then >permanent frustrated state from interruptions
the original games had graphic novel scenes almost as frequently, it honestly sounds like you'd be better off playing the arcade modes.
as a game it's amazing though, short as the bits are. there's nothing like it.
1 is a million times better than 2. and equally 2 is a million times better than 3. 3 is still good though, just not a MP game.
3 is a dogshit game for homosexuals. >the original games had graphic novel scenes almost as frequently
That you could skip. Black person you've never played the actual Remedy games.
Try it out and see if you can handle the controls, it's pretty dated after all and has aged quite poorly. If you don't feel like playing it -> graphic novel then play 2.
>Try it out and see if you can handle the controls, it's pretty dated after all and has aged quite poorly.
this is way too agressive to speak of max payne. it's got some jank but it's a standard mouselook wasd shooter, we're not talking about syphon filter here.
here's a piece of advice: the bullettime shootdodge will not be your main move. what you will want to use instead is a side roll activated by a or d + jump. unlike the shootdodge the sideroll gives you iframes. typical usecase of it is to preemptively roll past an ambush and then quickly headshot before the enemy can turn to get another shot on you.
The side roll also slows the game down a bit, without the cost of bullet time.
Also, make sure you unbind "bullet time + shootdodge combo" and set separate keys for bullet time and shootdodge.
Shootdodge instantly reloads your current weapon, and during it you can't get killed by bullets/shells - damage maxes out at 100% but you don't die.
>3 is still good though, just not a MP game
3 isn't a game, it's a movie with short gameplay interruptions.
As a movie, it's not good. You're just tricked into watching it because you got scammed by false advertising.
I don't think they are amazing, there are constant little annoyances as well, like the cover shit, the fact that you can't carry a bunch of weapons, the last stand mechanic where you have to shoot a guy that is out of your aiming range, the camera being up close. These are all consequences of them putting realism first because they wanted to make a movie. Even though the first games were linear, you could backtrack and explore a bit. There is almost no opportunity for that in 3.
Anyway, even what is good I can't enjoy because I'm in a permanent frustrated state from interruptions every ten to thirty seconds.

Happens automatically, and you start in cover after some cutscenes. Also, enemies use cover. >did you use anything other than pistols + shotgun/M4 in the original games?
Yes, mac10, sniper, deagle (for headshotting), M79 and dual berettas. But the fact that you can carry a lot of weapons means that you don't run out of ammo, which was an issue in my two mp3 playthroughs. >last stand mechanic >turn it off then
The game is unfairly difficult, just like the first and second game. This is part of why the games are fun, but there needs to be something to compensate. In 1 and 2 it's quicksaves, which works perfectly. Last stand is a good alternative in theory, but it's buggy. Yes if you've played the game 10 times you know where the enemies spawn so you don't need it, but I'm not going to watch all those cutscenes 8 more times. >the original games had graphic novel scenes
At the start and end of a level. And they are skippable. There are optional ones you can activate in a level, at your own pace. It's part of the exploration.
I'm not going to play MP3 again soon. I will replay 1 and 2 though. The dream sequences (and police level in 2) are a drag as well by the way. I may use a cheat to skip them.
>arcade modes
I'm not interested in any kind of time attack. Taking things slowly, collecting ammo after each fight etc, that's the correct pacing, and the first game nailed it. I've played through it dozens of times.
Yeah, 1 still has great gunplay and it’s really fun. There’s some trial-and-error tier bullshit moments in it, but not so much that they would ruin it as experiece.
But do know that the game has an adaptive difficulty system, so if you always hammer quickload button every time you get close to death or die, the game becomes harder than the hard setting, leading to even worse need to quickload constantly. If you die, don’t press quickload button, but let the death animation play out and load the game through that (if I recall correctly, by clicking or pressing space when you die, but anyways NOT the quickload bind).
Holyyyyyyy shit I'm watching the 1998 TV movie adaptation of Brave New World and Peter Gallagher's clubwear is where Sam Lake got Max Payne's costume from. Fricking wild.
Absolutely. This on Xbox or PC? PC might need some tweaks like FPS caps and you can add a widescreen patch, but controls like a standard TPS. Xbox works fine out of the box, controls are a little dated and you can tweak the sensitivity to your liking, but plays well still. The standard difficulty is dynamic, so it should get easier if you keep dying.
1 is worth it
you need it for context anyway
play 1 and skip 2
absolutely go frick yourself
wtf is this 2 hate
it's functionally the same with slight tweaks to bullet time and the addition of mona
some people hate the story, I just think they really fricked up bullettime, how fast max moves feels stupid and trivializes the game.
spwp

Play 1 you homosexual.
THE FLESH OF FALLEN ANGELS. AAAAAUUUUUUUUUWWWW
Micolash from Bloodborne reminded me of this dude with all of his ranting and howling.
Skip to 3 for instant kino
>I LOOOOOOOVE WATCHING CUTSCENES, WHAT'S THE POINT IN PLAYING A GAME WHEN YOU CAN FRICKING WATCH CUTSCENES?????????

Wrong. 3 doesn't have any gameplay.

Are you paraplegic?

yes. mp1 is the better balanced overall game. mp2 has notoriously fricked difficulty in it being ridiculously easy.
No, play quantum break
1 is a million times better than 2. and equally 2 is a million times better than 3. 3 is still good though, just not a MP game.

Series is pointless to play if you don't play 1. Do it. Play 2 too, it's okay.
1 is a legendary game
2 is a fun shooter
3 was OK not great
anyone else think payne on the cover looks like Claude from GTA 3?
If you're able to make it run, definitely.
Absolutely. This on Xbox or PC? PC might need some tweaks like FPS caps and you can add a widescreen patch, but controls like a standard TPS.
