Nah but it is rarer on the whole since most of the industry is 3D games and pixel art is competing with 2.5D and 2D animation for the small slice that is 2D gaming.
Eh. The characters look pretty good. The UX is bad. Which is weird. I actually wonder why these UXs are so bad. My best guess is they write to some general platform (phones probably) that require it.
I dunno though.
You just need to take a 3D model and downscale it. Voila, pixel art.
You also seem to be familiar with this, if I'm not wrong and interpreting it correctly. When we talk about 3D, what do you think about AI, since it's being talked about a lot right now, do you think an AI could create 3D games all by itself? I once read in a news article that this will be the case in 5-10 years.

I think the console releases have an option to change how it looks, and the PC ports got it recently, but I've been busy playing FF7 so I haven't checked it.
>Most people forget the visual accuracy aspect for a lot of old games drawn around the quirks of certain monitors.
Because it's a false idea that doesn't exist that you can only demonstrate mattering in like 4 scenarios mostly from ancient arcade games and shit like Wizardry from the 1980s.
Scanlines were never visible on CRTs like in the image you responded to. Ever.
Keep humping your trash TV you picked up off the side of the road though.
3d graphics age and become outdated. Look at any late 90's/early 2000's big budget 3d games and consider that they were deemed to be highly realistic graphics pushing the boundaries of technologh and requiring the latest specs. Meanwhile games like Ori and The Blind Forest, Dragon's Crown or Rayman Legends will not age in the slightest and people in the far future will still appreciate their 2d graphics.
He's right that the pricing was ridiculous, but its because dragons crown is a short simple arcade game rather than because the graphics are somehow 'cheap'.
People emulate 8 and 16bit games and think retro just means "shitty graphics" but the devs at the time were striving to make the best graphics possible with the hardware they had at the time and took advantage of every trick in the book to achieve that. Modern "retro" inspired games completely miss that, Celeste looks fricking disgusting because of this.
Has been for awhile OP. Retro pixel games of the 90's was objectively gaming at its best. So sucks to see how much modern devs don't know how to do it right.
Fpbp

It requires highest concentration of autism to make a detailed pixel art but since Japan is a dying country the artstyle becomes rare to find
FF6 Pixel Remaster is perfectly fine

Nah, we still get games with good pixel art in every year
The most recent game i can think off with amazing pixel art is Blasphemous 2
blasphemous 2 sucks my balls
That art is shit though
This looks great though
it doesn't look great it looks like it was drawn in ms paint
You wouldn't get it
nah there's a reason they remade and it and actually made it look good
>implying only ugly games get remakes
Nah, you wouldn't get it
bait
this isn't pixel art. art being pixelated doesn't make it pixel art. this wasn't drawn pixel by pixel
You just need to take a 3D model and downscale it. Voila, pixel art.
right can't be real

you need to get really close to the tv to see them but they are there
cope, I literally just got back from playing on one and I saw scanlines just from a chair.
Pixel "art" looks like some shitty RPGMaker
How do you respond without sounding mad?

Celeste looks great. The game is intentionally visually simple to aid recognition. Why would it look like a SNES FF? It's an arcade game
Celeste looks like shit son, it's *the* tumblr """retro""" pixel shit game example
penis

those are both shart. regular art (aka "flash shit") mogs them both
>no, but it reminds me of a mobile game if it's not made of squares!
>Retro FFs
>your characters are too small compared to realistic enemies well drawn
This is abuse.
>Golbez boss sprite looks tall and menancing
>His 4 homie in a row sprite is a midget
Makes me laugh every time
Someone made a romhack just for you. It replaces all the big, detailed enemy sprites with much smaller ones.

That one of the left is a remake from 2009, though. The original Ys looked like crap.
And the one on the right is a remake from 2021.
It's not a remake from 2009, it's a remake from late 90s ported into modern console
Too bad the gameplay in the early Ys games is dogshit
