Is PLA the complete experience that GameFreak intended? My question is: if PLA hadn't been released so close to SV, do you guys think that PLA would've received an actual DLC? Something more than just the Daybreak free update? In my opinion, the Daybreak update is enough, but I'm curious what you guys think? Did Game Freak release everything that was planned, or was there more planned? For example, PLA doesn't include the Battle Zone island, unlike DPPt. Do you think an adventure taking place on the Battle Zone island may have been considered?

I'm thinking of getting this game, and I'm finding that the Japanese release is cheaper than the US release. I know that Japanese games will work on the Switch, but what I don't know is if it will update properly. I know that Switch DLC can have regional compatibility issues, but I don't know about updates.
you can receive updates even if the game and your account are registered to a different region. eshop dlc is region-exclusive, but you can make a jpn account, download it while signed in with the jpn account, and it'll be usable on your regular account too
Obviously, but people didnt give enough fricks so they just ditched that shit and moved onto the next shit
>Obviously
What makes it so obvious?
Personally, I think that more DLC wasn't planned, because they knew SV's time was coming, and they needed their entire team working on SV.
Anon PLA was released in january while SV was in november of the same year... This game was always planned to be a short game before the next gen. I just don't know why pla, bdsp and sv were released so fricking close of each other...
>I just don't know why pla, bdsp and sv were released so fricking close of each other...
It is a shame that this game got 1 update and SV got a two parter without even running stable
I'm aware that
>is game complete experience
is probably just some sharty bait but whatever
PLA was never going to get DLC. The main objective is to "catch all pokemon" and then you can meet God, adding more pokemon would change the requirements to complete the base game and/or would require a massive story expansion that was likely never even considered because SV was being developed. There's no story breadcrumbs for a new story to justify new pokemon showing up and there's no cut content indicating they had anything planned. The best you can say is the game is missing an epilogue that explains if the MC goes home or not
>battle zone island
It's firespit Island in PLA but you already knew that.
This thread is NOT bait. I'm just genuinely curious whether PLA had more content planned or not. I haven't played PLA yet but I'm interested in playing it, that's why I made this thread.
Also, no, I didn't know it's firespit island in PLA.
How wouldn't you know that? It's a volcanic island in the exact same place.
I would have liked this game if not for the fricking chore of having to wait for singularity-exclusive pokemon and grinding for the god damned coffin pokemon. I refuse to do it.
went over my head until now that firespit island stands where the battle zone is eventually built
Of course more was planed for it. They just gave up on plass when it failed to outsel bdsp
>Of course more was planed for it.
>Just one room, probably intended for a single cutscene
Do you have anything else?
Wtf is this
I'm guessing it's preliminary work for what would've been a more traditional dp remake
Honestly glad we got PLA instead. Traditional remakes kinda suck imo, I really disliked ORAS personally. I like them taking a wholly different take on the original games which expand the universe rather than retelling the same story but in an alternate universe. If they just get ILCA to actually put effort into their faithful remakes and make them be based on the 3rd version then it's best of both worlds.
i thought firespit island was the Pokemon League. I know it plays Mt. Stark's music but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. The Heartwood plays Eterna Forest's music but it becomes Route 221.
How do you know Heartwood becomes Route 221
PLA was as complete as they were going to make it
they had no faith it would do well, thats why they put it out in January which is typically a terrible month for sales
>cut charizard
>release in January
>release sv the same year
>most of the new forms and evo are from unova
>the only reason to ever play that game is to get a fourth Tao genie even uglier that the originals
Golly gee, it’s almost like they self sabotage this thing to make sure it flopped
ignoring the rest of your bait, 7 of the new pokemon/forms are Unova related, and 16 aren't
funny enough, Johto got just as many new mons/forms as Unova did
>unova: h-samurott, h-braviary, w-basculin, basculegion, h-zorua, h-zoroark, h-liligant, enamorus
>8 mons
>jotho: h-typhlosion, Ursaluna, Wyrdeer, h-sneasel, sneasler, h-qwilfish, overqwill
>7 mons
why do plagays always lie?
I completely forgot white Basculin existed and just looked at serebii for a list, and Joe forgot it too
Damn, he really did.
Expect a stealth fix in the next hour.
it’s not a mistake. W-basculin isn’t a regional form after all.
It's not new either, according to Joe.
>planed
>outsel
GMS
Not an argument, placuck
It was an experiment. There was never more planned beyond what they did, and this is evident from the fact that SV released later that same year.
Notice how DLC for the games always releases in gap years. It's meant to fill the role of a new release.
I think I agree with you, but what I don't understand is why did PLA have such a good free update like Daybreak. I'm not complaining, in fact I'm glad they did it. But it's just not typical for Game Freak to release free content. They tend to make us pay for everything. So I was wondering if maybe the Daybreak free update for PLA was meant to be part of a bigger paid DLC at some point?
I think you can assume, that like many games made around that time, COVID more or less impacted the time table of some plans and they were forced to "finish" it a bit later, thus you got that "free DLC" that wasn't Free DLC as much as it was 'shit we couldnt finish in time'
Yes I guess that makes sense. They maybe released this content for free because it was content that was supposed to be in the base game to begin with.
>Is PLA the complete experience that GameFreak intended?
Not a single game starting with X and Y has been this.
>2 year old game
>still $90 fer taxes
>oh ill just go to ebstop
>used: $10 cheaper
Id emulate but i want the bear
You can kinda tell that most things after the sky turns red are kinda rushed compared to everything before it
