Is Red Vox actually good, or is it just generic indie rock that people only care about because their frontman happens to stream video games and make memes?

For me it felt a bit generic, but I liked some of the songs and they have some progress in terms of uniqueness
>their frontman happens to stream video games and make memes
I don't think he's very happy about that. Like he wants to make something by himself, but its always received by people through "oh its vaynee vannisauce haha funny mushroom man makes music speeeeen" lens.
>I don't think he's very happy about that.
He should be, because I don't think his band would be getting nearly as many views/listens otherwise. It's mental to think In the Garden has nearly a million views now. That at least puts him in B-list YouTube recommendation core
I mean yeah, satan, but he's not getting lots of satisfaction from this popularity and no motivation to go more serious about the band. What I'm trying to say is that the feedback he gets is kinda useless
I get a really strong feeling Vin just has crippling video game addiction and just can't take his musical career more seriously as a result. The fact that its his only outlet for interacting with fans is just enabling him. You cannot stream 5+ hours of shit a day and still have time to write music or practice.
Probably part of why his content has taken a complete nosedive. Not really a guy who needs to be as popular as he is.
Joel will always be the most based member of the Vinesauce crew. Even his music is better, and he doesn't go out of his way to chase views, if anything he goes out of his way to avoid more views.
For me its Rev but Joel still has his moments. Vinny is now unwatchable because of the cringe.
>Vinny is now unwatchable because of the cringe.
Agreed, I've actually had to shut off his streams a few times because I couldn't sit through him trying his best to play normalfag and bring up reddit and tik tok and shit. It's really hard to watch.
>You cannot stream 5+ hours of shit a day and still have time to write music or practice.
This + his fans listening to his music no matter how average it is is enough for him to never really improve. He clearly has an ear for good music and has the financial position to mess around a bit but he never really does.
Streaming is his bread and butter. He would be retarded to stop to try to pursue a music career.
Sorry Vinny and co I don’t like a lot of your songs but theres a few alright songs. Like
said they’re b tier. The only true s tier youtuber/streamer musician I can think of is Pliotredsun
I will admit that Vinny does have a couple of notable songs though, Pale Blue Dot really stood out to me, so did Settle for Less. So I do think he's a genuinely talented songwriter when he puts some effort into it, I'm just half-worried though that his streaming career is getting in the way of it because most of his music is pretty generic.
Generic. I love his streams and stuff, but music... Frontman has very decent tastes in music, nothing special, but all the usual good stuff, and it seems he is very much drawing inspiration from there yet lacking that "flare" that made all the songs we love what they are.
It feels like he is straight up replicating the moods, motifs and sound of artists he enjoys. Ain't nothing wrong with that, that's what everyone does when they play music that they like for its own sake. Sometimes you just want or wonder about having more music from your favorite artist, and so the best way to get some is to try to make it yourself. Yet what makes a true musician is a unique taste and vision, which you are not going to have by definition if you play through "replication".
I don't think it's fair to compare his works to anything really. It is just a passion hoddy project that went a bit beyond the bedroom. People might like it, but it's "rawness" will be too obvious.
His music isn't raw enough in my opinion, but that's mostly just an issue I have with modern indie rock in general. Too much production, not enough noise, its hard for me to feel like Vinny is playing with emotions. Again though, its hardly a problem exclusive to him.
i like some of his newer songs but that's about it
hopefully he keeps improving and getting more comfortable as a musician
Alright but getting better, I feel like every album is an improvement on the last.
does vinny take any solos
I’m starting to think Another Light was a fluke because nothing they’ve made after that is anywhere near as good. Sure they improve on a technical level but it just gets more and more generic and unmemorable.
I prefer Scythelord
