It should at least register Rotom automatically in the dex, as a Pokemon you own and don't battle with.

this is why they removed the national pokedex. they didn't want to open this can of worms.

        That is not the reason.

I agree, it's absurd the Rotom Pokédex doesn't have a Rotom page in sun/moon lmao.

I couldnt give less of a shit about los nationnel pokedexxo and all that crap.
But it's not even in character that he wouldn't have a page about himself

Loved this dude. He helped a lot giving gen 7 all its immense and fun character.

And having an interactive pokédex/map/hover tablet thing is just amazing. I like the new later rotom forms, especially rotom camera in the galar stadiums, however the rotom phone is like a wild rotom that doesnt talk or does anything. What even is the point?

Unfortunately the Poke-moron fandom actually cried about Pokemon sun and moon having dialogues, they dont like dialogues and character and story in their pokemon game, so Im not saying Gsmefreak listened to their moronation, but if they re-made rotom mute it's because they didn't really have a reason to bring such a cool character back.

And also possibly the sudden death of yokai watch

However, gen 9 brought back the photos and theyre even better than they were in gen 7, so even if he doesnt speak i still get eeminded of the good times

The real mustery is what type is it. Knowing Gsmefreak, probably stays electric/ghost. But observing him electric/normal would make sense. Maybe electric/psychic even

Pure Electric according to the Rotom Phone.

      >Is it true that this was just Yokai Watch bandwagonning?
what do you think? there's too many similarities to be a coincidence like the black line between rotoms eyes resembles whispers and the fact that's rotom is a giant fricking tablet with an antenna and whisper has a tablet that acts as a Pokedex for yokai and also has an antenna and the timing just makes it worse like rotom was popular but it's not "make it into a companion" popular

However they progressively turned everything into a Pokémon and Rotom was the only way to turn electronics into Pokémon.

Besides Rotom is a self-insert reference to Gamefreak's original mascotte if that can be said, Plasmaboy or something. So it certainly isn't an irrelevant mon either.

Anyway rare instance of a Pokémon-inspired game (for once, not a trashy ripoff) that improves Pokémon itself.
It's a bummer it had such a short lifespan. Why can't Level 5 get the Nintendo IP treatment like Pokémon did?
They deserve it. They probably let Yokai Watch die so easily because they already had Pokémon and Nintendo doesn't repeat IP genres (as shown by Splatoon being the only new Nintendo IP in ages)

          >It's a bummer it had such a short lifespan. Why can't Level 5 get the Nintendo IP treatment like Pokémon did?
because level5 is independant and yokai watch was franchised out the ass with multiple anime movies and a bunch of games, to the detriment of their actually good ips
seriously there should not be a fricking 7 year gap between layton releases

Did it though? I like Yo-Kai Watch so I feel like it should have, but Pokémon SM always felt lame to me. And aside from PLA, the games after it are even worse.

Also, Level 5 pretty much stopped publishing games in English altogether until recently, so I'm expecting them to release Yo-Kai Watch 4 in English soon, at least before Nitnendo's next console.

YW killed itself by oversaturating the market, too many releases in too short of a time and people lost interest

I agree Yo-kai Watch stole the antenna ghost idea from Pokemon.

I like Rotom and I like the Rotom Pokédex. I hate how they just use smartphones now when previous games had more interesting and more advanced technology.

Literally nothing in old Pokemon games games was more advanced than modern smartphones.

Our world's technology level simply caught up to Pokemon's.

The Holocaster and the Rotom Pokédex are both more advanced. What happened is that starting with Sword and Shield they tried to make it more similar to the real world. At least the smartphones seen in Pokémon can resize the screen, and can float, but it's still a downgrade and lame in comparison.

Anyone else find it weird everyone has a rotom slave in their devices in yhe future?
Your phone is a Rotom, your bike is a Rotom, your computer is a Rotom.
The pokedex is just a phone app on your Rotom.
    Pretty bizarre.

Felt like I was a slave to my Rotom in [Ultra] Sun/Moon. Always trying to chat with me like that annoying kid in school that just couldn't take a hint. Always telling me what to do and where to go because why would the player character have any agency in Lillie's story?

You have no less agency than in other games.
