There are morons that actually believe smash is more complex than actual fighting games. This dude probably has no experience with other games, but wants to be egocentric anyway.
Happens with every mainline SF. It's the new game they pick up, possibly their first fighting game, and they feel the need to jerk the game off any time possible because it's all they know.

Is SF6 a mechanically shallow game?
no its not mechanically shallow but its design is shallow and mindless. theres lots of mechanics but none of them are thoughtful at all. its basically a goyslop game.
A lot of unga bunga SFV pros did a lot of crazy fricking offensive combos that they simply perfected and realize they can't do the same bullshit unga bunga because the drive system prevents them from doing unga bunga bullshit.
>the drive system prevents them from doing unga bunga bullshit
Drive Rush exists
LMFAO you morons never know what you're talking about
Yeah, you have the drive bar so you don't fricking spam it. So you drive rush and use EX special moves in your combo and boom your unga bunga combo has now burnt you out and can't do shit until your drive bar recovers.
>you have the drive bar so you don't fricking spam it
It costs one out of your six bars that get replenished anyway when you land hits. You're spending half of an EX move to get in for free with a shitload of plus frames. It's not healthy for Street Fighter at all

>costs one out of your six bars that get replenished anyway when you land hits.
Yes. If if you're not doing it in a combo you can drive rush with ONE BAR. But you can see that a mile away. Now if you do a drive rush in the middle of a combo it costs 3 bars which pros will want to do. Now once you use 3 bars for a drive rush combo that will greatly reduce your drive bar. If you do overdrive special attacks (EX moves obv) it's 2 bars. So it all adds up and you will burn out if you're not careful.
LMFAO you morons never know what you're talking about
Frickin moron.

you can drive rush for 1 bar in combos, drive rush only costs 3 when cancelling from a normal
there are plenty of juggles that only use 1 bar DR

The game is balanced around it tho. Moved that used to be +3 to +5 in prior games are -2 to +1 in this game. Drive rush after a hit confirm is insane though, but for 3 bars it kinda have to be.
Not in the sense that there aren't many mechanics, but yes in the sense that it's a braindead guessing game that discourages meaningful player interaction (compared to other fighting games).
>stick out button and mash forward forward >walk backwards, walk forwards >stick out button and mash forward forward >walk backwards, walk forwards >stick out button and mash forward forward >walk backwards, walk forwards >stick out button and mash forward forward >walk backwards, walk forwards
this shit ruins neutral
Feels deeper than 5 but that isnt particularly hard. 4 felt more complex but at this point in my life i dont care as much, the game is fun which is enough for me, 5 wasnt fun.
Not really. There are a few characters who are more simple than they should be because they can skip neutral too easily, usually by drive rushing. That's about my only complaint about depth.
Really wish you'd have stayed on twitter instead of learning one moronic term like "neutral skip" and posting it constantly to attempt to sound like you aren't a smelly sex offending smash player (but I repeat myself)
Yes, watch Clayton Chapman's videos on it. Beyond his schizo garble he makes it clear that the game was essentially "solved" before the 2nd beta had finished and Capcom shot themselves in the foot by trying to make Drive Rush the one and only mix-up mechanic.
To be fair, you can give Clayton any game and he'll seemingly "solve" it within minutes somehow. He's a smart player, but he doesn't understand the first thing about being humble, he always needs to claim he immediately figured out every little thing about a game and everyone else is too dumb to have done so while posting niche tech with no real application.
I'm gonna be honest with you anon, Clayton is legitimately schizophrenic. Not the meme kind either, listen to his vlogs and it's evident he has some serious fricking issues. That being said, to even attempt to discount his tech findings is foolish, the guy can and literally has advanced the meta in everything from DBFZ to Strive to SF6 while not even playing online against other people.
>man single handedly established the Meta for Revelation, Strive, DBFZ, and now SF6 >people trying to discredit him as if his opinions are invalad
Clayton is a lab monster, he is god at finding tech and establishing meta.
His criticism against SF6 are valid, however SF6 is a fun game even if everyone feels homogenized due to drive rush mechanics
>every loss is bullshit and every character (but mine) is cheap and fraudulent
Wow I can't believe I share the opinion with a diamond player! And HE'S the one saying it, so he's naturally correct!
literally everyone says that, bronze-kun. Mago himself was downplaying Juri and Cammy on day1 saying their normals sucked. Go learn the game before complaining.
>therefore LTG's opinion is worth more than everyone in this thread
LTG is a total LOLcow but he's not as bad as people claim him to be. He was ultra diamond on multiple accounts with SFV and he's going to hit diamond soon with JP in SF6
I'm Diamond and you probably shouldn't listen to me because I think Ken is the best character in the game and regular throw is the best move in the game.
I don't know, but I'll tell you it's one of the most mentally exhausting fighting games I've ever played >have to alternate between checking people in neutral with my pokes or jabs because of DI threat >have to be reserved with my pokes in neutral because they're all fricking minus >have to be ready to react to slime drive rush whenever >if I do get in, I have to optimize based on how much bar I have left and it's not always clear cut what the best option is >oki outside the corner always costs meter and you don't get it from every knockdown >oki has to be extremely tight, you miss a frame and they jabbed you out of it >so many options in the corner you inevitably forget about one of them and eat a DI/jump in
I play 30 matches of this game and I'm mentally exhausted. Wtf is this. In SFV and Strive I just walked up to people and pressed buttons.
>That has more to do with placement matches and the fact that you can’t derank.
You can derank but once you're gold or above you cannot go derank below gold.
Yes
Drive Rush skips neutral on all the good characters who are actually going to win tournaments (mainly ken, juri, and deejay)
Drive Impact is both a reaction check and severely limits the amount of "good" buttons your character has, again, the top tiers are less impacted
also has a moronic amount of offensive OS's that play the game for you due to the super long buffer and blockstun/hitstop and drive mechanics eating inputs. again the top tiers benefit from this
it's "better" than 5 but it is also way more boring since because of all of this the best characters play the same
JP unironically is the only character that feels like a street fighter character. All the other zoners are trash (guile, dhalsim, ryu) jaypee legitimately has good buttons and projectiles

Happens all the time, you're insane if you think people react to every ~22 frame reaction check with a button.
?t=355
It doesn't even have to hit you, even blocking a DR normal against the top tiers means you're forcibly taking mixups because it makes their lights/mediums plus
out long range normals that aren't special cancelable
Yeah, this is why every match plays out the same and some characters have moves that are never worth pressing - you will die to a yolo or reactionary drive impact, so why use those moves when you can just hit cancellable mediums and then DR and chain jabs for your mixups. >every SF game has had punishes for morons who just throw out sweeps predictably
16er stop
Like I said, I don't even think the game is bad besides the top tiers being better versions of every other character (what reason is there to pick ken over ryu? ryu doesn't even win fireball wars) but I think everyone playing the game would have more fun if driverush and drive impact were nerfed or even straight up removed, but sadly this will never happen because moves are balanced around being able to be cancelled into DI
DRC and press a button
Did it connect?
Yes? DRC into a combo conversion
No? Oh well you're + on block, go for a 50/50. Throw or low.
Repeat until you win
No need to, realized I'm a tier prostitute a long time ago.
Really though, I usually tell people they should only care about tiers if they really want to be known. if you play just to have fun play your bottom tier and just have fun.
Large playerbase. I think I saw some post that showed like like 0.000001% or some other ridiculously low number of players are in master rank, once you get to diamond it becomes a real grind.
i placed into the literal rookie tier and was rank 550k
i got out of rookie and learned how to play some super basic level of fighting game and now i'm in bronze and rank 520k
if you are even remotely capable of chaining combos and hit confirming you'll get to platinum no problem
Wouldn't know, I'm bronze.

I wish. It has too many mechanics. It could do without drive rush.
it's the most complex fighting game ever made and is incredibly has high skill ceiling
VF would like a word with you.
do zoomers actually believe this or this is just a lobotomized dude baiting?
Are you fricking stupid? This is unironically more complex than USFIV.

I have never played a fighting game that was easier to get into or more simple than SF6 because I usually play anime fighters.
A lot of pros from SFV are complaining how hard SF6 is.
what makes the skill ceiling so high, and the game overall difficult?
Is it the drive mechanics?
I don't know bro I'm only plat that's just what a lot of pros are saying on Twitter

It's so mechanically deep that Japan will dominate it again after the simple SFV allowed foreigners to compete for once
I dont think you know what "mechanically shallow" means
Has lots of mechanics but shallow gameplay

>some israelite lies to appear smart
wow very impressive
does clayton like any video game besides guilty gear xx?
I think he's too busy huffing cologne and screaming at Discord kiddies to care
besides sf2 I think he likes karnov's, some fatal fury and KoF games, and alpha 1

Clayton's tech is worth respecting. His criticisms are not.
Reminder that if you're not Diamond you don't know how to play the game and therefore should not have your opinion considered
low tier god is diamond. dsp almost got diamond.
therefore LTG's opinion is worth more than everyone in this thread so far and, as usual, DSP should be discarded. Your point?

Street Fighter 6 is too easy, so I switched off from [C]asual controls to [M]aster controls.
>Street Fighter 6 is too easy, so I switched off from [C]asual controls to [M]aster controls.
modern control is the easy mode
>b-b-bu you lose button
>b-b-but 20% damage reduction
instant reaction input makes up for everything
modern lily is the goat. I hit plat in 30 hours and this is my first fighting game
>modern control is the easy mode
If Modern were "easy" then all of the pros would use it. But they don't.
Modern is more difficult and limiting.
>If Modern were "easy" then all of the pros would use it. But they don't.
Mago and Tokido already swapped to Modern
More easy than shallow.
>play street fighter or hit the green koolaid button
>everyone spams the green koolaid button
this game fricking sucks, when are they gonna give sf4 rollback
do I really need to git gud to get out of plat?
???
i am a plat grinder.
But today I did placements on luke before learning any combos. I jsut used normals.
I got placed in diamond.
Is this the power of an S-tier??
No, there's at least 10x the amount of people playing SF6 launch over SF5 launch. Platinum in SF6 is like Silver in SF5 comparatively
Says who? Got any data or sources to back that up?
So you don't got any sources and you're just talking out of your ass. Thanks for confirming.
>Platinum in SF6 is like Silver in SF5 comparatively
That has more to do with placement matches and the fact that you can’t derank.
>derank.
What? You can de-rank though. Jimmy has been dropped from Master like 5 times over since launch
who's jimmy? is he a shitter?
you can't derank from master
>That has more to do with placement matches and the fact that you can’t derank.
You can derank but once you're gold or above you cannot go derank below gold.

it's way more homogeneous than 5 in my opinion

I guess daigo is a stupid shitter moronic piece of shit too
When you're the beast you can talk, until then go the frick back you worthless npc parrot
funny because daigo also said drive rush makes lights the best move in the game
lights were also really good in sf4
>2 wins away from being diamond

>7 wins away from being in diamond league
help me...
SF5's main criticism was everyone had the same mindless rushdown strategy and everyone felt homogenized.
SF6 solution?
Make everyone even more homogenized with Drive Rush and Drive Impact. Skip neutral with a press of a button. DRC has replaced footsies.
>JP plays completely different
>people endlessly REEEEEEEEEEEEE at him
at the end of the day it's what people what
JP unironically is the only character that feels like a street fighter character. All the other zoners are trash (guile, dhalsim, ryu) jaypee legitimately has good buttons and projectiles
You're moronic if you think guile or sim are "trash". The only real trash character so far is looking to be lily.
It's not an option in game, it's a mod.
Trash in the sense of being a zoner. Guile and Sim hasn't been a zoner since SF4
yeah thats absurd and untrue
prove it
Rank 1 Guild ISDD is a rushdown guile
Rank 1 Sim Fchamp is a rushdown sim
why tf is that not a training mode option wtf

Why the frick is this game's input reading such trash? I've never played a fighting game that gave me so many input errors before.

I've been seeing some silly combos come out of drive rush cancels from parry.
