The whole point of activities like shiny hunting is that the kind of people that enjoy them will never have "all the shinies they want." There's like a thousand pokemon at this point and every new generation just adds more to their backlog
I think finding shinies by accident makes them more special imo. Playing through Diamond and finding a gold Shinx and then later a Buizel was pretty cool. I could hunt these things like these autists do but I like the surprise better.

Yes. I had a near-death experience a few years ago and one of my last thoughts was wishing I had obtained a perfect Final Fantasy XII save file that would include perfect HP/MP, 99 of every farmable item (includin Zodiac Spears and Danjuro), and all the missable items like Jaya Stick, Small Package, 99 Slime Oil, Pinewood/Sandalwood Chops, etc. I also regretted not being able to play every JRPG ever made since I love them so much, as well as not getting Scarab Lord and mount in WoW, or the Rivendare Charger in Stratholme, or the Time-lost Proto Drake mount. Realizing I would never play JRPGs or World of Warcraft again made me very sad.
This was my shiny hunting setup back in the day. Good times.

I thought about shiny hunting for a ribbon master but decided my time would be better spent doing actual gameplay getting the ribbons and just genned it instead. The battle frontier is actually pretty fun when you can skip the initial entry grind. I even encountered a shiny in the frontier itself, which I didn't know was even possible.
