I've heard so much shit about gen 9. None of it positive. The launch was atrocious. The content since then has apparently been dull. I don't think I should even bother with it
I've heard so much shit about gen 9. None of it positive. The launch was atrocious. The content since then has apparently been dull. I don't think I should even bother with it
Then don't play it, holy shit.
I am literally asking for more opinions
everyhting past gen 5 is unplayable, dont bother play other games or gen 1-5 romhacks, the franchise already peaked in gen 5 and its never getting better
shut the frick up bort, every single game before shitnova is better and half the games after shitnova are better too
Discord post
not they ont 3d killed the series and looks like fricking shit cope and dilate
Glad the thread about gen 9 somehow still manages to be a hub for fighting about gen 5
Maybe borts should stop spamming genwar posts in threads that have nothing to do with their muttslop.
its the same guy shitting gen 5 just ignore everyhting past gen 5 is garbage
I wouldnt pay full price for it, with the DLC it's a pretty decent game but its barebones and shite without Teal Mask.
Thanks for the opinions. I'll probably just find a secondhand copy or grab it on sale if it's really frickin' cheap.
You're literally moronic. If you're not interested in the thread, go to another one.
Just emulate it if you want to see
If my PC wasn't shit, I would.
You should get a pc instead of a dogshit switch and dogshit shovelware
Why would anyone get a PC if all they play is Pokemon?
It can play every pokemon game and more
>Accuses someone else of being moronic when he has to solicit his opinions
How?
TM added like an evening of extra story content. But I don’t see how anyone can believe TM did much for the overall SV experience. Endgame is pretty much the same grind before and after it’s release.
Agreed, TM has a nice little half of a story, some side quests, 3 legendaries to catch and an extremely repetitive minigame that isn't worth doing once you've beaten it all once.
After that all that's left is laggy buggy raids which were already in vanilla.
Why don't you decide for yourself you stupid frick? Watch videos and buy it if it looks fun.
boyfriend got it as a gift and let me tell you, this is probably the worst video game experience in 2023 for me. Makes Tears of the Kingdom look fresh. I rather play Hogwarts Legacy, and that game zero replay value. I was so bored with the game I gave up after a couple gym leaders. so repetitive. I was insulted by the DLC advertisement on the pause screen when they can't even finish the base game.
Please don't pay full price for this game.
>so repetitive
thats literally every pokemon main game
>I was so bored with the game I gave up after a couple gym leaders. so repetitive.
That's every Pokemon game you fricking moron
The game is fine, it's not the best, not the worst, it's graphically ugly but it's fine to play.
Don't ask for opinions, only you can make your own by playing it.
I played it and it frickin actually sucked like in a sonic 06 way where it's just clearly shit
This is one of those times where you shouldn't listen to anyone else and just play the games for yourself, you don't even need to buy it.
unironically the best game since HGSS
>Is SV even worth playing right now?
I have only played the base game sofar, and it really leaves a lot to be desired. The DLCs, especially the upcoming DLC2, is supposed to be a lot better tho. My main problem is that the game doesn't even have a Battle Tower.
I guess it's worth playing after DLC since it will make a finished product
why don't you play it for yourself you fricking dumbass? do you need strangers on the internet to tell you everything?
The game crashed on me 3 times in a row and one of those times my character t-posed and slid acrose the map before forcing me to reboot my entire fricking switch
I refuse to fricking play now
Why are you lying? SV are the best positively recieved Pokémon games in generations
I had fun
Haven't played the DLCs yet
You've heard NO positive things about gen 9? Like, at all? All this time and you've literally never run into a normie who's fine with it? You're either lying or some turbo neet with the most secure echo chamber of all time.
I had fun with the game.
Graphics and performance really weighted down my experience though. It made me think that GF could actually do a good game but that they're incompetent on many levels.
The new mons are meh at best, a lot of them are plain boring design wise. But they also have decent gimmicks/movepool, so they're kind of fun to use too.
Exploration was cool. The story was nice, the ending especially.
hi im OP, i just baited everyone here just so you guys would rage bait
cya
what if the real bait was curbstomping your teeth in along the way
I got it half off, used, it was alright, would def not buy full price.
They are unoptimized technical messes, the environments are empty and ugly, everything more than 10 meter away has low framerate animations, and the game is still stuttering.
It's a shame because, as pokemon games, and when it comes to the gameplay, they're arguably the best in the entire franchise.
I wouldn't skip them though, they're way better than anything released in the last 10 years and the open-world with overworld encounters is the first real evolution for the series since it started, if we get great games in the future that'll be thanks to this awkward first step.
>everything more than 10 meter away has low framerate animations,
Thats seems to be switch limitation issue. I noticed many games struggle with it. New Dragon Quest Monsters for example
Whatever problems I've run into with other switch games, I don't think any of them even come close to the level of technical incompetence on display in Pokemon SV. Not to mention the game also looks worse in general. So you have both bad graphics and bad performance. Can we get just one at least?
>and when it comes to the gameplay, they're arguably the best in the entire franchise.
Frick off moron
What is so impressive about the gameplay aside from the novelty of it being a (mostly) seamless open world? And even that isn't so impressive:
>Wild Pokemon are randomly generated like 10 feet in front of you and instantly respawn as something else if you wander away
>Wild Pokemon generally don't have any particularly interesting behavior which makes the open world sterile
>You straight up cannot enter most buildings
>Thus there's no real inherent "reward" for exploring other than randomly generated loot, which wouldn't be so bad if Pokemon was designed for interesting randomized itemization, but we all know the game is as basic as ever
>Treasures of Ruin is basically the only "side quest" if you count it as one
The game's world is dollar store Korean MMO tier. Yeah you can argue they'll expand on it in the future but that's not a credit to this specific game. Its most redeeming quality is probably the better-than-usual story, and that's largely carried by the final stretch of the game in Area Zero.
>they'll expand on it in the future
Remember when people swallowed the Galar garbage wild area because they'd "expand on it in the future"?
Remember when people swallowed the 3d models looking like shit because they'll "fix them later"?
Remember when people excused garbage framerate from same 3d models because they were "made to last past the 3ds games"?
Stop giving gamefreak slack.
All of that came true, though.
tbf it did take them a decade just to give typhlosion its flames back
>Remember when people swallowed the Galar garbage wild area because they'd "expand on it in the future"?
Yes, which they did in both PLA and SV.
>Remember when people swallowed the 3d models looking like shit because they'll "fix them later"?
Not really. The models were incredibly high quality for a 3DS game and the overall consensus was that they were made to be reused for generations.
Reading through this thread and it’s telling that nobody responded to this. Because you’re right. I don’t know how people haven’t gotten sick of open world since they’ve been in vogue for pretty much a decade. There’s little that’s novel about it unless you only play Pokémon. Especially with an open world as poorly made as Paldea.
Yeah this kind of shit is unacceptable. I’ve never had to deal with Pokémon games crashing randomly until the Switch era. My gf lost a shiny Froslass too because of it.
>My gf lost a shiny Froslass too because of it.
I would have broken my switch
I am so sorry.
Of course there's no reason to bother with it. Or Gen 8 for that matter
I play from start and i have most fun i had in recent pokemon games. Dlc is quite solid as well.
Endgame is bland if you don't wanna pvp 24/7
Imagine SwSh but worse. That's SV.
At least SWeatySHit had a battle tower
It's my favorite Pokémon game. There are significant performance and graphical issues, but that's not really new for the series. Seeing and battling 'mons in the overworld, the music, the story, the characters, it's all lovely.
>The launch was atrocious.
No it wasn't? There was literally nothing wrong with the launch.
>The content since then has apparently been dull.
The story was literally one of the best we ever had. The open world is decently executed. Tera Raids are OK.
Maybe stop getting your opinion from Ganker which is full of contrarians and 16 year olds who think it's cool to hate on the new games cause their favourite youtuber did so.
If you want legendary hunting, sword or shield's crown tundra would be a better experience, but getting Zygarde may be impossible.
I got the game recently after being on the fence. I love it. It definitely has glaring flaws; the major one being graphical fidelity, it's pretty abhorrent even by switch standards but in a comical way. The repetitive gym > team star > titan battle is nothing remarkable. You can tackle them as you please which makes it easier to get out of the way. And the story has cringe zoomer sensibilities until you hit end game into the dlc, then it gets engaging.
Actually playing the game is stellar. I don't know if I'm just easily impressed after playing SwSh and seeing how much SV improves over it but it's easily the best pokemon game content wise in spite of that. Best exploration, best battle mechanics, best PVP system and the like. If you like playing pokemon generally and take it as the latest and greatest entry in the franchise gameplay-wise, it's good. Not a very high bar but definitely offers my money's worth.
I've been really enjoying it again after not playing it for a year
shinies being a lot easier is nice since it actually feels doable and doesn't take more time than it's ever worth for them
garbage games like all the other pokemon games on Switch
Hell no just play PLA
>The content since then has apparently been dull
Oh far from it, if anything it has the most variety of any modern pokemon game thus far especially with this upcoming DLC giving us more minigames and even radiant side quests.
The problem is that most people 2ho play pokemon here only play pokemon and nothing else so they don't care about more gameplay modes, they just want the tower.
i never completed the game but the vibe just feels off, it's uncanny valley
No joke, i genuinely feel people are conditioned to like the game purely on the merit that it's still playable
At least we can still catch the new Poke-
>*game crashes*
What does that even mean?
it's a switch era game, of course it isn't
Gen 6 almost killed it. ORAS fixed what was wrong. Gen 7 sucked because they released half games, and then almost a year later the full game, and aside from post game Gen 7 sucked.
Gen 8 sucked, as did its overpriced DLC
Gen 9 are the first games that, bugs aside, have felt genuine. A few of my colleagues and I have about 1k hours in which is more than anything since Gen 4.
