Everything the DSi does, a (preferably CFW) 3DS does better. Why do you even want one, to trade Pokemon with yourself? The only thing unique I can even think it does is maybe some camera features that didn't carry over. And rainbow pen in Pictochat.
>The only thing unique I can even think it does is maybe some camera features that didn't carry over.
yeah dude that part where it takes a 180p picture of you and a friend and then says "90% related" was so fricking sick dude what a complete pile of shit. the shit could never get you laid because it would just tell you that the girl next to you is probably your cousin. i mean i did use it on my cousin but still we hardly look alike
Guaranteed dual IPS screens without needing to buy from a scalper or win the screen lottery is a pretty big upgrade. Also, since it's in native aspect ratio you can actually use the whole screen without having to make the choice between using only a tiny part of the screen or blurry full screen.
not you again, god damn it
the only thing I liked better about the DSi was the build quality of the physical device. it felt good to hold. that's just the regular DSi -- DSi XL's screen was too heavy for the latch, which caused it to wiggle a lot.
the actual functionality of the DSi was a step backward -- they traded the DS lite's GBA slot (which was great) for the worst camera of all time. if you have a DS lite already, you don't need a DSi for anything.
>dsi was gonna have gba and also a 2nd ds card slot >didn't, due to them not wanting marginal more thickness
Fricking hate that that was the trend at the time so nintendo did it.
Back when this shit was cheap, 10 years ago, I bought a used DSi for $20. I wasn’t even aware there was an XL. Now they cost a shitton. Oh well, I still like my DSi and at least it’s very portable.
Like I said above, they are more expensive here. And even if I could get one for $80, I won’t, why would I pay 4x as much as I paid for a regular DSi 10 years ago.
do people truly believe that emulation is ever better than the hardware?
maybe you mean to say more convenient

do they?
I got one last year from a local store for 60 ausbucks
In Europe they go for $80-$140, I’m not paying that much for something that was $20 used 10 years ago, and should only be going down in price as it gets more obsolete, not up.
>Why don’t you get this incredibly specific and overpriced piece of hardware and emulate DS on it instead of just getting a DS for 1/50th the price?
Yep, a moron alright
The Duo 1 is actually a steal at the prices it's going for nowadays. And you wouldn't get a Duo solely to emulate DS; you can emulate other systems, like PSP, do all the stuff you would do on a phone, multi-task, etc. DS emulation is the cherry on top
It was a sentient DSi. The first ever sentient being created by humans, and it decides to kill itself after 3 days. What does that tell us about our world?
what the screen's output is has been explained to you explicitly and thoroughly
it is explicitly displaying frames in an interlaced fashion, every other line is alternating at a different rate, it does not matter what the unit is rendering, the display is outputting interlaced
If you're an old frick and collect video game stuff, yes. The screen on the DSi XL is truly the best way to experience OG DS games. Not being able to play GBA or use the Slot-2 accessories sucks, but you have the DS Lite for that
No, lol
arent ds games blurry on 3ds
Yes, but you can launch them in native resoluton by holding select at launch.
When I learned you could do that with a R4i Gold on my 3DS XL with IPS screens, it was awesome.
With smaller screens and big black borders
Smaller black borders than with GBA games
>no gba slot
>DSi shop dead
>flipnote dead

I wonder how much of an impact this had on Japan's declining birth rate.
rip Abe.

You can trade pokemon with yourself with a 3DS too.
The only thing it doesn't do well is look good at playing DS games
Just wait for the PSP 2, Nintendo is going to die this generation while the PS4 and xbox 720 flourishes.
what fricking year do you think it is?
a DSI XL is the definitive way to play DS games.
why do you keep posting the 25th anniversary mario edition dsixl? did you play this when you were getting molested as a kid?
Damn, you don't need to be like this to him you know.
That's oddly specific, anon.
not you again, god damn it

I still keep mine to see my Love plus waif every now and then
Based
Which girl?
manaka
OP is a homosexual
My shoulder buttons fricking died on dsi. Gonna try fixing them with parts from aliexpress.
the DSi XL is, sure
DS games wont look better

Looks like you can get a used DSi XL off eBay for 50-80 bucks. How is that a shitton?
Like I said above, they are more expensive here. And even if I could get one for $80, I won’t, why would I pay 4x as much as I paid for a regular DSi 10 years ago.
Is this 2009? No point in owning any DS now that emulation is far better than the actual console.

And what would you emulate it on that has dual touch screens? Fricking moron
>surface duo

>dude just get this $1000 device with no physical controls to emulate the DS
>reading comprehension
You can easily get a new Duo 1 at $400 or cheaper nowadays
Why tho?
god tier bait
I would if mouse control and latency aren't bad when playing Pokemon Ranger and Rhythm Heaven
Friendly reminder that OP has been posting this exact same thread for almost a year now.
maybe he just wants some discussion without bait?
those are low replies so trying again is not an issue
There are way more threads than what I showed. And plenty with tons of replies. He's just mentally ill/moronic.
Bot?
Yes, that's what native means
what year are you living in anon?
why would you even consider buying a dsi?
DSI is the only console I have ever bought that killed itself. In like 3 days.
>killed itself
doubtful
It was a sentient DSi. The first ever sentient being created by humans, and it decides to kill itself after 3 days. What does that tell us about our world?
that people don't take blame when they break something or buy/sell faulty products
It even left a scathing good-bye letter though
the regular dsi has interlaced screens, it's pretty unpleasant
have you mistaken the focus potentiometer for interlacing?
the display updates with alternating horizontal lines before updating with the opposite horizontal lines on the next frame
i am not mistaken, child
That is not how LCD's work anon, what you are seeing is related to refresh rate and focus
what the screen's output is has been explained to you explicitly and thoroughly
it is explicitly displaying frames in an interlaced fashion, every other line is alternating at a different rate, it does not matter what the unit is rendering, the display is outputting interlaced
the end
Then all portables from original gameboy up to 3DS do interlacing, as do the PSP systems
