Is the first Phantasy Star Portable worth playing, or is it a "Monster Hunter Freedom 1" situation with Portable 2 Infinity being everything PSP is but more (with a different story)?

Just play the original PSO instead of any of its inferior sequels

this, the portable PSOs aren't bad, they're just way more arcadey which kind of ruins the vibe/atmosphere of the games, imo at least.

Why was pso 1 so good?!?!

Did ANYONE play the episode 2 levels? When I played PSO for Xbox and pc, everyone stuck with the PSO 1 levels.
No one played the PSO episode 2 levels and I don't know why.

honestly, look into ephinea. Private server for original PSO ep 1+2+4 (ep 3 was a janky card game using the same engine). Ep 2 was kinda quirky. It kinda negatively fricked with some damage/loot formulas that made it just better/easier to play ep 1 for drops, which is what the endgame is anyway, though the environments were definitely much better done in ep 2.

The layouts and enemies in Episode 2 were annoying as shit. homosexual robots disarming you on hit, shitty Morpho deflector shield homosexuals. Gal Gryphon was a cool dude though.

EP2 stages just challenge different gear/strategy loadouts
        >hell
        >demons
        >techniques are relied on more for their auxiliary functions rather than damage output (stopping foes with razonde at critical moments, etc)
        >greater reliance on crowd controlling with Froozer/Sneedle/etc
EP2 stages are comfy but can be "annoying" to people who don't realize they're supposed to adapt to the new stuff instead of playing it the exact same way as EP1.

PSO story was lame as frick, no idea why boomers overrate it so much. Gameplay was not great either.

the latter, if you don't really care about story for the psp games then you go with infinity because it adds a drastic amount of stuff to the things psp already had pretty much a overhaul if you will. but if your trying to follow psp's story then you want to play 1 2 and then infinity.

Actually PSU, AoI, 1 and then Infinity. Infinity also has 2s storyline.

Ignore homosexuals saying to play PSO instead, they're just boomer coping that can't move on. The PSP Phanatasy Star games are really good. The 1st game was alright but the sequel improved on a lot and Infinity is just 2 but with more conetent.

Is one or two the one with the big boobed secretary and pink dressed main character? She had a big staff and was also a guest in Valkyria Chronicles.

I really like 0. I played with some touch ups on emulator and it's still as comfy/fun as it was. Has some of my favorite pso songs too like the Snowfield themes.

I liked them more than Phantasy Star 0 but that's a bit of damned with faint praise situation.

there is not much reason to play any of the older portable titles now that infinity has an english translation unless you like the story
