wrong
Ugly as frick redesign.
You're thinking too small
>literally just a PC emulator for cartridges
What the frick is the point of this machine? You don't get hardware accuracy, and you don't get the convenience of just opening a folder filled with roms. I can't imagine the kind of room temperature IQ you'd have to be at to buy this shit.
The SNES was only great if you were really into JRPGs
>the console that wins the gen is always the one with the best/most JRPGs
Really makes you think….
Based but that design sucks. Looks like a shitty CD player
second greatest, PS2 is greatest and always will be
Objective truth. I go back and forth on whether or not the PlayStation or the NES is worthy of third place.
>it sold a lot so that means it the best!
>when it had quality control issues that made the Xbox 360 look like nothing was wrong with it
>when most people saw it as a cheap dvd player
>when it had more shovelware on it than the wii
Shovelware is not a problem.
Shitty "REALISM" trends and hardware so hard to develop for that kills several good companies is.
>hardware so hard to develop for that kills several good companies is
You mean like the PS2? Or are we just gonna pretend it wasn't just as bad as the PS3 in this regard?
I do mean the PS2. my point is that the biggest blow PS2 gave to gaming was not the shovelware but the downfall of all the japanese studios, with the PS3 finishing the job.
But it's the console that had MGS2 & 3, Devil May Cry and DMC 3, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Tekken 4 and 5, a whole bunch of Armored Core and Ace Combat games, Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4, a bunch of excellent Sega Ages ports, a bunch of Psikyo and Cave's shooting games, Rez, Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari, God Hand, the Fatal Frame series, the Jak & Daxter series and the Onimusha series, just to name a few.
I got lucky and didn't have any hardware issues on either the launch slim or fat models until like 2018, but I won't argue that it was the console with the worst quality control at that point in time. The library was just so good.
Those games are shit compared to Famicom games.
Famicom games are actually shit compared to those games, and you smell bad.
Famicom has actual games instead of pretentious movie shit.
As does the Piss2.
All of those are mid except DMC. There’s nothing even slightly as iconic as something like MegaMan or Castlevania
I'm afraid you're objectively incorrect, and I'm objectively correct. I personally prefer the Mega Man and Castlevania games on SNES anyways, but I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of those series to begin with.
>mid
You tried.
PS2 has a shitty library consisting of mostly multiplats and shovelware.
Back to your AI Slop containment thread
Really homie?
I don't even know what these are.
t. 1996
They're the weird second models of the NES and the SNES. Well, the red one is actually an A/V Famicom, the second model of the Famicom.
The 360 was the best. Revolutionized online play for consoles and had the best controller of all time.
>The 360 was the best
It had some highlights in 2005-08, too bad the console's failure rate was exceedingly high due to RRoD. My console died twice...thankfully only in 07 and 09 and lasted for two years before its first failure.
>Revolutionized online play for consoles
OG Xbox did
>had the best controller of all time
Lol not with that god awful dpad it didn't. Same dpad issue the OG Xbox had.
>Revolutionized online play for consoles
I'm sorry, but that would actually be the PS2.
>shovelware console
???
Those guys were microscopic compared to the gems on the NES.
Gargle my balls. It has the best library of any console despite the glut of shovelware.
Not really. All it had were multiplats that ran better on Gamecube and Xbox.
moron schizo
Not even. Put my balls in your mouth and gargle them.
>can't handle objective truth
>can't handle my resplendent sack
Woops wrong picture sorry.
the nez was rubbish
the zx spectrum had far better games
>zx spectrum
This one is pure nostalgia, it had literally nothing worth playing.
t. couldn't afford an NES
Go to bed, Larry
This idiot's Miyamoto video did so much damage to vidya discourse for years. I'm not sticking up for Shiggy because he really has done some dumb stuff, but Larry's video was just made up of UK gaming related grudges based on hearsay, exaggeration, or (by his own admission) outright pinning shit on Miyamoto that actually didn't have much to do directly with him. He even made a point of glossing over Star Fox Adventures, the one UK gaming related incident that actually CAN be squarely blamed on Miyamoto.
>
The what?
The Sinclair ZX Spectrum, an 8-bit PC that was really popular in Britain in the 1980s.
Not up to the galaxian standards so trash
That's fair.
This thing was the first successful "arcade at home" machine.
The arcade galaxian basically established the correct way to do 2D games, where you assemble the picture with tiles of 8x8 pixels, this tilemap can be smoothly scrolled and there's sprites over it.
It is a way of doing 2D games that leave the CPU almost entirely free to just run the game logic as updating a tilemap is 64 times faster than updating a bitmap.
And after galaxian did this, every single fricking arcade coming from japan cloned the hardware, including donkey kong, but no game console or computer from the time was doing the "full galaxian specs".
Famicom was nintendo somehow pulling it off by integrating the whole video system into a single chip instead of using a shitoad of glue logic chips as was done on the arcade.
AFTER the famicom, other consoles and computers started to reach full galaxian compliance, mostly by the hands of yamaha (every sega console, MSX 2)
>Galaxian[a] is a 1979 fixed shooter arcade video game developed and published by Namco
How come the Japanese were the only ones who were able to make really great games for such a long time?
Part of the answer is on the post actually.
Every JAPANESE arcade board cloned galaxian.
Atari that was the leading force of US arcades was always pushing the bitmap agenda, shoving all sorts of very powerful DSPs and processors and all that shit to get pretty ugly looking graphics with inferior frame rates.
av famicom is a godsend. nes top loader is moronic with its rf only bullshit
Nope. It goes
PS1>PS2>SNES>Genesis=Saturn>Dreamcast>NES=PS3>the rest
But PC is the best because it can play everything.
Please see the following corrections:
SNES>PS2>PS1>NES>Xbox360>The rest
>any xbox console
>anywhere on a greatest consoles list
No
It was the only contender for a large portion of 7th gen. Better exclusives, multiplat performance, better controller.
No. The only exclusive it had worth playing was Dead Rising, and the controller was shit. It has one of the worst d-pads ever. The rounded buttons are also stupid.
Get real.
Halo, Gears, Fable, and UNO vs Imouto Simulator 2.
I'm still butthurt about the PS3 never getting Left 4 Dead or L4D2 even though I've owned those games on PC since launch. They play so well on the 360. They're perfect local co-op games.
>Halo, Gears, Fable
Dogshit.
Gaylo is very fun.
Not if you played real shooters on PC in the 90s.
The only games I remember playing in the 90s were Tetris, Super Mario World, Tekken 2 and Earthworm Jim since I was born halfway into the decade, but I played Doom, Half-Life and Unreal in the 2000s before I played Halo and somehow managed to enjoy both.
Halo is just a great local multiplayer console game.
I grew up in the 90s so I played Doom and Quake a lot as a kid. Halo sucked.
I also played both of those games a lot as a kid and thought Halo was fun.
>I also played both of those games a lot as a kid
You were born half way through the decade meaning you touched them a few times when you were 4 or 5, but grew up playing Halo.
Nope, I was playing those games starting from when I was around five or six and actually played them to completion. I like Duke 3D a little more than Doom or Doom II.
I didn't own an Xbox. I was really clumsy with a dual analog controller in FPS games compared to my peers because I only played FPS games on PC at home.
>I was playing those games starting from when I was around five
Which is what I said. You still grew up on Halo, and given that you talk about playing it with your friends, you only think it was good because you played it in groups with them. That's how most xbabies were born in the early 2000s.
I indeed think it was a fun game because I had fun playing it with other people. Being autistic sounds fricking exhausting.
>Being autistic sounds fricking exhausting.
Thank God I grew up playing better shooters on PC with my friends and never thought trash like Halo multiplayer was fun.
I had fun throwing light bulbs at a brick wall with my friends when I was 13 but I’m not moronic enough to think it was because lightbulb throwing is a good, well-designed game
But you were moronic enough to find throwing lightbulbs at a wall to be a good time to begin with and are still moronic enough now to go into conniptions over someone having a different opinion than your own.
Weapons grade autism. I guess /vr/ got tired of replying to these guys.
>reads the whole post
>still misses the point entirely
How would you feel if you didn’t eat breakfast today?
I'd probably feel hungry. I don't think I missed the point at all. You're a moronic person.
Good you’re capable of abstract thought, now apply those skills to the lightbulb story and think about what it might mean
I did, but I decided to insult you instead of bothering to engage you in good faith because I just didn't get the impression that you actually wanted that of me. You sound a lot dumber than I was at 13 and dumber in your thirties than I am in my late twenties.
>I decided to insult you
Damn you’re pretty bad at it
Oh, anon, you wound me so.
>calling other people autistic while admitting that you're a shitposter on /vr/ who got tired of being called a moron there
Makes sense.
That's the opposite of what I said. I said that you are a shitposter on /vr/ who got tired of being called a moron there, or at least just felt like getting called a moron here today for whatever reason. Soak in all that negative attention you wanted, anon.
>I said that you are a shitposter on /vr/
Right, and given that I've never used /vr/ that's means you went there, got called a moron, and then came here to cry. That's literally the only reason you'd bring it up out of nowhere.
I've absolutely read your posts on /vr/ before, almost word for word. I've honestly never been called a moron over there.
>I've absolutely read your posts on /vr/ before
You have absolutely not.
>I've honestly never been called a moron over there.
So you've read my posts word for word calling you a moron, but also you've never been called a moron? There's a reason people on /vr/ tell you that you're wrong and stupid.
They don't, really. I only seem to have pleasant conversations over there but have seen you have nearly this exact same conversation with someone else before. Xbabbies, my childhood was better than yours and you're killing video games by enjoying something I don't, etc.
You gonna play any video games today, anon?
You see the same conversation there because people who were fortunate to grow up before Halo got popular know that it's shit.
>You gonna play any video games today, anon?
I'm emulating PS2 games right now, dumb homosexual. You gonna stop acting coy to cover up the asspain of getting called an idiot wherever you go?
It really doesn't happen to me very often. I only seem to get this kind of flak from completely contemptible and moronic shitposters such as yourself. Whatcha playin' on the PS2? Aren't there only movie games on that thing?
>Whatcha playin' on the PS2? Aren't there only movie games on that thing?
You're like a parody of a moron.
That was my angle with that line, yes. I'm sorry for stealing moron valor.
>I'm emulating PS2 games right now
Oh no, don't summon him
>Oh no, don't summon him
Who?
The man with the PCSX2 picture
>I'm emulating PS2 games right now
t. nvidia owner
AMD do the job just fine in linux
BS. Tried playing Jak 2 and the shadows are fricked. PS2 emulation is ass. Original hardware or bust.
I used to like better when i irrationally hated halo.
A game that shown a glimpse of the future of game design and story telling with it's "RTS changed to FPS on the last second" approach that made the game crudely tell a story where your actions fit, where the enemy will react to the bullshit you're doing.
But as was a "last minute change", compromises had to be made, and the entire game industry got those compromises as lessons and ruined every game with em, while completely ignoring the part they should pay attention to.
>Genesis=Saturn
Come on now, let's not be silly.
What's silly about that?
The Saturn was nowhere near as good as the Genesis.
The Saturn had stuff like Megaman X4, Lunar, Grandia and SotN that people forget and think only the PS1 had. It also had arcade ports, Panzer Dragoon and a whole wealth of tactics RPGs.
The Saturn is mostly inferior ports.
SotN is better on the PS1 you absolute moron.
The genesis was where you went to play the worst versions of all your favorite SNES classics!
So false. They had very distinct libraries from one another.
With the Genesis consisting of tons of western shovelware.
It sure did, but there were also some really great games on there.
Depends on the game.
The SNES CPU is just pretty weak, and in a few cases, some really shitty samples were picked at a point the FM chip in the genesis sounds better. (thunderforce 3 for example)
The Genesis version of Aladdin is better.
Grandia is better on Saturn, and SotN has content that wasn't in the PS1 version. For arcade ports, the Saturn was the only way to play them at home. The rest I mentioned weren't ports.
>and SotN has content that wasn't in the PS1 version
KCEN's shitty additions aren't worth playing the game in perpetual slowmotion.
>For arcade ports, the Saturn was the only way to play them at home
Nobody cared then and nobody should care now that MAME exists.
>Nobody cared then
It would be easier and more honest to say "I never had one so I'll pretend no one liked those games".
Show me where I said the Saturn version was better. If you can't, I'll assume you're an illiterate moron.
Nobody bought those downgraded arcade ports with 15 minutes of content.
*I never played any of those games but I like to shitpost about them
I fixed your post.
The Saturn was a flop. The reason is nobody wants to buy a console with nothing but inferior ports. Same reason the Vita flopped.
>The Saturn was a flop.
It sure was. That doesn't change the objective fact that you haven't played the games on it and still decide to shitpost about them.
>That doesn't change the objective fact that you haven't played the games on it and still decide to shitpost about them.
Funny, that's exactly what Saturn fans do too.
The saturn flopped because it was a billion dollars on launch, wasn't advertised, wasn't stocked anywhere, and had no JRPGs on it.
>and had no JRPGs on it.
It had plenty. Most just didn't get translated.
There is not a single Japan only Saturn game that would have sold more than 50k copies max in the USA and Europe.
>still screaming about sales because you haven't actually played any of the games
Okay then.
I've been playing Saturn games long before you heard about them on youtube. Not that it matters.
Why would you bring up something as a gotcha and then say it doesn't matter? It kinda sounds like it matters to you.
You keep insisting for some unknown reason.
That was the other guy. I'm the dimwit that somehow likes games that were made before and after the year 2000.
Probably the moronic early launch killed it completely.
It's probably the worst decision ever taken in the entire gaming history.
But i bet sega takes the whole top 10 of those
The Saturn version of SotN has uneven pixel alignment because of the difference in resolution. It makes the game look like shit, and anyone with an IQ above room temperature would consider it unplayable.
>unplayable
Well now you're just being moronic. That's like saying the PS1 version of Grandia is unplayable because of the lack of shadows.
The lack of shadows doesn't ruin the entire fricking image you moron.
The lack of shadow, the fricked up water rendering, and the other graphical issues make it a big downgrade. The only thing the PS1 version did better was some transparencies.
Graphical downgrades are not the same as basic pixel alignment.
>ruining the visual integrity and art direction is not the same as making the game look bad
Okay.
N64 should have been ultra nintendo and gamecube should have been mega nintendo.
The Wii should have been the Stupendous Nintendo, the Wii U the Outrageous Nintendo and the Switch the Adventurous Nintendo.
How so?
pretty much
I really think the PSOne redesign is the greatest looking video game system ever made.
Looks like a Chinese knock off of itself.
