Is the hype already over?

I was really surprised to see Warhammer especially and miniature painting blow up like it did 3 years ago.
Now it seems like normies already lost interest, scalpers are sitting on mountains of dead stock, ebay resellers aren't moving much and selling under MSRP.
Think another hype will come or did Bidenomics and the Ukraine war destroy people's willingness to spend on luxury goods?

Where give me store names. All the shit I see is either overpriced nos/oob or MSRP+shipping, the cheap stuff is a scam to rip you off with excessive shipping fees (which they don't have to refund).

Agreeing with this anon OP show me where prices have actually gone down and I'd be grateful.

Nearly everything I see on eBay is the standard 15% off. NOS stuff can sometimes be found cheaper but you got to search through a lot, try slightly different wordings. eBay search is really fricky. Sometimes you do a Google or duck duck go search and then click the shopping tab and you'll see some eBay listings that you can't find just searching on eBay.

He thinks "Bidenomics" hurt GW sales. Of course he hasn't tried playing a good game.

People had nothing to do at home, got direct checks, and didn't have other things to spend it on. And inflation hadn't really hit yet.

it doesn't help that the game is unplayable shit, it's just receding back to the same level it was at in the past since Black folk have realized it's a lot of effort for just suffering

I like to think, similar to how blizzard "balanced" world of warcraft, that people are sick of the model of edition changes. Nothing really changes and instead its just a cycle of one faction or two having their time in the spot light. It becomes predictable and boring and if your army is shit you may aswel sit the whole game out until its not. If they actually changed the core rules in some interesting and meaningful way then i would have been more interested for longer.
This is entirely subjective and wishful thinking on my part and prob little to do with it and more to do with price.

It's happening at even a faster rate now.
I had a 2000 point. I figured I was done buying stuff and I was just going to put it all together. Then my army was performing like shit and GW's answer was to lower the points cost of everything instead of improving them to be worth the points... So now I only have a 1700 point army. I was done buying stuff, so now I can just play smaller games I guess.

Wargames that arent shit and arent insanely overpriced are doing just fine. Only GW slop is hurting now that people wont take out a new line of credit to buy a box of 6 models. Gaslands, Battletech, any historical rules, and roleplaying games are doing perfectly fine.
While I have the floor I would also like to say frick GW.

Just this year GW opened a huge store in Akihabara, Tokyo
They've opened up an entirely new market of hyper otaku

Given the fact that, knowing pretty well this demographic, japanese otaku rarely flinch at spending hundred/thousand of dollars per month in a hobby they like.

The few time I passed there to buy paint, the café seemed to have a pretty good "newbie attraction" potential also.
