the first time i played rse i didnt even remember who wally was when he came back at the end of the game. then i played it again a few years later and had the same experience

Rivals are meant to push you to be the very best, like no-one ever was. The only rivals that do this are in 1, 2, and 4.
He's only worse than Gary and Silver. May/Brendan and Wally suck. Cheren/Bianca are terrible, Hugh is "muh sister's cat" the character, and everyone after that is the main character's mindless best friend.
