Is the Steam Deck any good? My reservation is only held for another 22 hours but I've seen nobody talk about it and Steam has a track record for ditching their products.

then don't take it
there are thousands of people who unironically want their deck and aren't a flipflopping homosexual secondary
People who want the deck can suck my dick and wait in line because they're behind me. I'm asking a question and my choice isn't based on whether some ADHD twelve year old can get their Christmas toy a bit faster.
People who want answers to their homosexual questions can suck my dick
People can suck my dick
but instead your choice is based on approval from some random fat neets on a chinese imageboard that arent even able to afford a steam deck, but you can get my approval, its good i have one.
Well it's probably the best you can get for what it is. There isn't really any viable alternative to it yet, other than the switch which just has Nintendo games obviously
Get it try it form your own opinion.
If you don't like it sell it
I gave him the perfect answer he's just an idiot
>Ive seen nobody talk about it
do you even browse any sort of social media, image board or forum? It's fricking everywhere
No it's terrible. Please don't order it so I can get mine sooner.
You're a moron for expecting a good answer from Ganker.
You'd think you would of done your own research beforehand on what people are saying about the deck instead of asking on Ganker Black person, There's plenty of reviews online to look at you dumb baby
I really enjoy it.
Mine came and I haven't even taken it out of the carrying case yet. Really don't have any interest in it at all anymore, and can't be assed to try and scalp it.
You should probably get tested for depression, no joke.
Nah, I picked up some stuff on prime day and have been having fun with that. If I'm gonna waste my time with vidya I don't wanna do it with low-specs, handheld or not.
Just leave it on your lawn tomorrow early in the morning il pass by and get it
Gonna return it, methinks.
Appreciate it, fellas.
Don't listen to them, its really bad. Give it to me instead.
Thanks anon, it does seem shit as frick. I will not be purchasing.
Its has best gpu that umpc can have.
Literally like switch but not limited by software and shit hardware.
>Is the Steam Deck any good?
No
Yeah
it feels really good to hold and the extra buttons on the back do a good number at making more games playable on it, the extra binds really come through
it genuinely doesn't work well with anything requiring a larger amount of finagling or keyboard inputs, etc. DayZ runs great on it but is unplayable with a controller (they never ported the controller scheme to PC), games like tf2 run fine but you'll get bonked in multiplayer, etc.
Once the dock drops it's a very-viable alternative-pc solution. Emulation is also easy as piss and you can get it installed in minutes.
Overall it stays the in-between for a console and PC, and if it comes down to it a PC would be better. But it allows portability, has wifi/bluetooth, and can emulate dozens of consoles, so it's also a super frickin solid party machine. Enough wireless controllers and you can bump out to mario party.
then again, most phones these days are capable of the same.
The buttons on the back feel very awkward to use, Steam Controller was better in this regard
The top back buttons are fine, the bottom back ones aren't. Also, L1/R1 suck.
the triggers kinda sucks a little bit but I've seen far worse.
Just tried it. You seem to be right, the top buttons are noticeably better than the bottom ones
L1/R1 are very "meh". At least they don't feel downright awful to use like the back buttons
You mean L2/R2? Those feel great. Or at least better than steam controller/switch/dualshock 4, which I usually use
yes l2 r2... well I mean, they dont really suck but I prefer the triggers on my 8bitdo sn30 pro+. Maybe its because I more used to these than the ones on the Deck.
I found the pads really weird too. I thought it was going to be like a laptop trackpad but its nothing like that. I don't know the english word for that but they feel ''clicky'' which is super weird. At first I thought my pad were broken.
Well, L2/R2 feel great to me, but I might just be used to mediocre triggers. I've owned
>DS2
>Xbox 360
>DS4
>Joycons
>Steam Controller
>some cheap no-name controller I forgot the name of
And Deck triggers feel great as compared to the ones I mentioned
Pads feel okay to me, I like them much more than laptop trackpads which are just awful. I can't use laptops without an attached mouse
I can't really make a valid comparison with the Steam Controller pads however. Never really fiddled with the Steam Controller much beyond running controller-based vidya, for which the track pad is not exactly ideal. It's only with the Steam Deck that I started playing typical PC games like point 'n clicks. I'd rather just use a mouse than Steam Controller
>for which the track pad is not exactly ideal
Dipshit, you use the track pad as a left stick and the click as A/jump. This is basic b***h shit. This is how the Deck is set up for all my games too, trackpad is my left stick and I use the actual left stick as a radial menu or an alt D-Pad (I also use the right stick as a d-pad as well, especially for games with weapon switching on it).
Steam Controller L2/R2 have the second stage buttons underneath tho which I really miss on the Deck. I also hate how the track pad is this weird pressure-sensitive sorta-button, I miss the actual pad clicks. I have to crank the sensitivity on the pad press all the way up to 20,000 to make it feel usable.
>"I've seen nobody talk about it"
>people actually fall for this
lol
I was skeptic but this shit os comfy as frick, been playing some shmups. The screen is pretty bright and sharp, I have ragret so far.
>NO regrets
sorry, I can't type.
It's fine but not fine enough to be sold in retail stores. Definitely get one if you love tinkering and don't mind the huge size.
I made 150€ profit by selling mine after I used it for a bit, so you could do that as well if you want.
>can play drakengard 3 at full fps at 10w
feels fricking good man
Just got mine today. Thumb sticks are already drifting and the battery life is abysmal. I’m not a fan of the washed out screen would’ve much preferred an OLED display. Also I tried emulating the switch but it’s basically unplayable. Kinda regret not just getting a switch instead tbh. Why did I waste my money on this junk?
You can still sell it and come out on top if you do it right now.
Unlikely. No way I can make a profit. Seems like a hard lesson to learn for me. Next time I won’t fall so easily for deckgays lies.
I made some money when I sold mine.
Just don't mention the stick drift.
It has better battery life than the Switch if you try and approximate how a similar games runs on it , but if one person just cranks everything up and want 60fps badly then yea the battery will drain faster.

i view it as a portable computer more than anything else, somthing you travel with and use to kill time.
pretty much this.
It's basically a backlog burner.
it's fricking shit
when did you recieve yours? Q1/Q2?
>Doesn't post the part where they threw dirt and fur into the thing to clog the trigger
And you expect people to take you seriously? kek
>all within a minute of eachother
did you enjoy your tantrum there, bud?
Aww, what's the matter? Steamie mad? Mommie didn't get him his tendies?
The "console" is shit and nothing you say will change that
Worthless.
what went wrong?
About 30 years ago someone forgot to use a condom.
ahahah holy frick
>hey guys I'm gonna test this out with Dead Cells
>screengrab reveals he's literally never played Dead Cells in his life
What I don't understand is why would you test new hardware on a game you don't know? A game you know intimately you'll really get the sense for how the sound, visuals, button responsiveness, etc., are subtly different from how they are on the setup you've logged 500 hours on.
There are a million billion games on the Steam Deck, why would you choose to test it with something you've never played a day in your life?
It's nice. Got around 310~ hours logged into mine so far without issues.
My only problems so far have been the front facing steam/settings buttons beneath the trackpads being really shallow and having next to no feedback when pressed.
>I've seen nobody talk about it
why lie
