      >Any fighting game
Most fighting game players only bully people who get mad and talk shit. It really isn't comparable to team games at all.

I had some nice interactions but the negative ones stuck out the most to me so I quit. It's mostly people being extremely competitive to the detriment of the fun. Which was nothing like actual vanilla WoW.

I got invited to some guild and they were asking me to do BRD with them. They seemed like cool guys but I already had decided to quit at that point. I sold all my shit and transferred all the gold to a lvl 1 Gnome rogue called Beggargnome, ran to Ironforge naked, got the train to Stormwind, and RP'd as a homeless Gnome begging for money for him and his family. I gave all the gold to the first guy who agreed to give me 1s. Didn't take too long but many did pass by. It was a female Night Elf that ended up getting it.

I'm not much of an mmo guy anyway. I either find them overly engrossing (because of the vastness of the world and lore) or not engrossing enough (because of the busy work involved in levelling and shit). Good game overall but I just can't be bothered. If I had friends to play with it would be kino tho.

I had a better time with private servers tbh. Retail players see red if you criticize the game.

      >extremely competitive
That's the biggest problem with WoW.
      >Be tank
      >Tank a m+10 key
      >A mage can't stop talking about how to tank, which route I should take, stacking, all the shit you can imagine
      >Talks about BiS, rotations and all that
      >Even flames my dk bro and why he shouldn't play frost
      >Check logs of his parses
      >It's lower and of green
Especially the middle and low-end tends to be extremely competitive for NO FRICKING reason.

The bad expert. He watched four whole Youtube videos on how to play WoW and now he will tell you at length why you're doing everything wrong while he is more useless than a bodyguard NPC. No one values experience, no one values the player/person, be the meta and be it right now or they will parrot back data from someone on the internet they assume is an expert (because how would they know?) to let you know how you've failed the meta.

Online knowledge bases are a good thing and a horrible thing.

I mean is it really surprising when the games design philosophy is so cutthroat. They called it workcraft not because you have to play 9-5 but because its basically the white collar cuck experience

what are some white collar cuck experiences out there?

Online gaming in general has (ironically) become far more toxic and hateful with the rise of the "anti-toxicity" movement started by Riot games and the simultaneous movement by political activists into gaming spaces.

There is a reason no one talks online anymore.
There is a reason there is no communication.
There is a reason people are just less willing to engage in general.

Many other things led to this situation. Like removing community server browser based multiplayer and centralizing everything under controlled matchmaking and company sided leaderboards.
But really, more than anything else, the way in which the puritans of our age have just tried to force everyone to be nice and play nice has been catastrophic for multiplayer community engagement.

Kinda sad. But I tend to make it a rule to only play multiplayer games with community hosted servers so I do avoid most of this.
But I only made it a rule after seeing how awful and worthless it all has become.
Many games don't even have static emotes/radio callouts anymore because the puritan babies of the world interpret even those as "toxic".
So this all makes everyone act out in the most passive aggressive and least detectable ways. Like throwing/feeding/afk'ing/team killing/etc.
When you can't call a homosexual a Black person, its human nature (especially in teens-twenties) to still want to lash out and hurt the person you feel slighted you.

Its just awful to play anything anymore.

You will use a censored communication network and follow the californian zeitgeist or else.

      >the puritan babies of the world interpret even those as "toxic".
I don't even think they really care but they like having power over you like the shitty kid who would tattle on someone mid-class. Except there's no repercussions at recess, they're free to tattle on you at any point and potentially ban your account. You're right, it's destroyed half the fun of playing multiplayer.

I refuse to communicate to strangers anymore because I don't know what kind of shithead they are. They might get off on deliberately instigating a fight just to report you. They can throw, ruin a dungeon, ruin a battleground, and the only thing you can do is sigh and click report on them (if they didn't type anything negative, it will take a mass report to even get it looked at).

The fun I had in the 2000s online with Vanilla WoW, CS:S, TF2 is so much higher than any experience I would bother with in 2023. I won't even play League, miserable people playing a game they don't like where no one is allowed to communicate. You can't talk in team shooters. The social aspect of WoW is all but gone. Try talking to people in M+, you'll probably get kicked.

What are they scared of? More news reports of kids yelling the N word over their communication channels? We all lived through the Halo era, and we all made it out in one piece. We've been able to mute people since forever, since Warcraft 2. Howabout instead of ruining the fundamental experience we just teach people how to mute buttholes?

Counter Strike 2 still has a pretty active voice chat/chat where anything goes. Guess its also because you need to communicate to win

Its a really old community and Valve doesn't care as much.
They implemented a half assed systen for text chat stuff, but they don't give a shit about watching it.
CS2 is one I do play that isn't entirely server based, tho I'd prefer servers if Valve supported/pushed them more.

Definitely the best competitive matchmaking community, but yeah I miss the active server browsers. Thought premium matchmaking would turn out shit but the map banning stuff is actually pretty decent

"Anti-toxicity" measures were never about stopping toxicity; they were about shifting the blame from the company to the players so some middle manager somewhere didn't get fired.

I think their system of releasing it in small slices is pretty nice so you dont have to grind too much since you can just wait for the next content release instead of farming gear. But the balance is absolutely abysmal, they didnt think about it at all and the new content is so limited that it just feels like the lazy cashgrab that it is

      That's WoW for you.
Just treat it like an action RPG and pretend everyone else is bots. Don't even bother trying to talk to people unless someone seems very friendly.
Everyone is an autistic antisocial sperg obsessed with efficiency and playing the game in the most solved, meta way possible. Really, that's most online games these days but WoW in particular is very bad about it due to the game being extensively documented, having a strong addon culture and the fact that combat is all there is to the game.

WoW became too addon heavy. Addons dictate literally everything, and you're just the monkey who presses the buttons you see on the screen.

try to join a dungeon/raid as a tank
    >what's your dps (i'm a tank)
    >can you heal?
    >what's ilvl?
    >show achievement
    >do you have flasks?
    >sorry we need someone who is geared with endgame content to do this heroic
I don't regret quitting this game. Came back for fun awhile ago on a private server and this was the reaction to some of the easiest raids/dungeons. On a server lacking tanks mind you...
