this pissed me off during gameplay because the wording makes it sound like it will bypass abilities to inflict status and it doesnt commit
but that said as a fast special mon it's fun to play around with even if it's got common weaknesses

I wish they pushed it a bit harder, gave it something extra. Trading precious speed for a mere mold breaker effect when your range of options is [sleep, hazards, toxic] feels like way too much overtuning just to prevent the existence of a fast spore user. If you didn't want a fast spore user, why the frick would you make something that looks like a fast spore user.
Some things they could do to make it better but keep it in line with the idea:
>add a corrosion effect where spore and leech seed affect grass types, toxic affects poison types, etc.
>add an infiltrator/unseen fist effect where affected status moves go through sub and protect
>make it so that once selected, the status move is used no matter what, even if toedscruel flinches or faints in the process (this would be in line with the mycelium idea, since killing a fungus' fruiting body doesn't actually hurt or stop the fungus' underground network)
>ditch the core entirely and make it something new, like for example every single move/attack toedscruel uses has a 30% chance to generate a leech seed effect on the target
Just partner it with Wheezing.
The biggest plus to Mycelium Might is that when you do spore something it doesn't waste a sleep turn on the spot so you're guaranteed to attack/Spikes/Spin the next turn. Fricking sucks that Sleep abilities aren't affected, seem like an oversight.
I mean Emergency Exit has a tactical function sometimes in the most clutch of situations (thank you boots) but I just wish there was another option.

It's not a oversight, these status immunity abilities have always automatically healed the status when it's somehow inflicted on the Pokémon (Mold Breaker, Skill Swap, etc). Purifying Salt is a exception.

Zen Mode and similar variants such as Schooling and Power Construct are all sad and disappointing, especially Power Construct.
I actually kinda like zen mode and schooling, they're quite cool concepts.
Zen mode is so stupid it physically hurts.
What's the point of getting a slow defensive form and worse defensive typing when your HP is already halved? All it does is help your opponent KO you.
The galarian version is way better but there's no point to it when the alternative is so moronicly overpowered.
Schooling is just a waste. It offers no benefits in battle, all it does is hinder Wishiwashi for no real reason. One gen later they introduced Urshifu, who is also a powerful physical water type but he gets tons of benefits with no self-nerfing gimmicks whatsoever.
Zen Mode would work way better if it was active at 100% and deactivated at 50%.
That's basically what Minior has.
Although Minior isn't really an amazing Pokemon its ability is very well designed. The idea is that you set up with shell smash while your shield is up, then the opponent breaks it and you proceed to sweep with increased attack and speed.
Darmanitan only gets defensive when it's too late and its other abilities are better anyway.
wishiwashi gets the hindering ability because it has 620 BST and "evolves" at level 20.
The "extremely powerful pokemon with a hindering ability" gimmick never works, it always ends up being extremely unbalanced.
First they did it with Regigigas and it ended up in the shitter, then they tried it again with Archeops but it still wasn't worth it, Wishiwashi just doesn't have enough qualities to make it work and Palafin is still too overpowered even with the ability.
