is there a single japanese game with good storytelling that isn't Yakuza?

every JRPG has boring main quest and boring sidequests. nothing happens no words mean anything no characters have personality its just empty words words words words

      >good storytelling

yes, Yakuza can tell a story and be engaging from start to finish. The story is moronic. that does not matter, because it is fun and engaging. The side quests are short and sweet and plentiful without motonony.

      Meanwhile JRPG #2324253 is just
words words words artifact words words words dragons words words words rescue the girl from le castle words words words anime girl who loves you whaooaoaoah!!!

that shit is fricking boring and unengaging and there's 200 hours of it and it can't be interesting for a single moment of that time. i won't even read more than 15 minutes of it if it's not engaging by then because it NEVER FRICKING WILL BE.

      dark souls

      No.

      Vagrant Story

No. That's a PS1 game. Not even westerners figured out videogame storytelling by that point.

      Suikoden 2

No, again nobody knew how to tell stories back then.

I bet you think storytelling means "words words words more words", as i said before Killer 7, you won't understand it anyway since people like you are made for The Last of Us and nothing more complex or subtle than that

Yes but you'll dismiss everything suggested to you for some reason or another.

Yep. You literally cannot argue with east vs west shitposters like this, happens every thread. They've already made up their mind long ago.

It's not an east vs west thing if Yakuza does it. It's more that you have shit taste and think "le dragons are..... le bad!!!!" is exciting

Japanese stories take you to fantastical heights and climaxes with god level villains. An "exciting" climax in western stories is deciding whether to kill your gay lover or not.

          >fantastical heights and climaxes
ah yes after 200 hours of padding you finally get to defeat the bad guy!!!!

That's a western concept. Dragons are revered in the east.

There is no such thing as a Japanese game with a bad story, and I'm not even being the slightest bit ironic.

I've played borderline shovelware JRPGs made for mobile devices and ported onto consoles with built-in MTXes and *EVEN THOSE* had far more compelling storylines than Western slop.

Yakuza's story is actually fairly mediocre as far as Japanese stuff goes too.

You will never be Japanese, turd worlder.

my "moronic excuse" is that weebs will lick up anything Japanese which is why there are thousands of identical cookie cutter JRPGs and porn VNs with the exact same unengaging slop that are praised as masterpieces.

the same people will shit on Yakuza because it's actually good.

See this is how I know you're a lying homosexual because I've played No More Heroes and it fricking sucks.

      >I bet you think storytelling means "words words words more words
Are you fricking moronic? What part of "words words words is shit storytelling" made you come to the conclusion that I think "words words words" is good? Holy shit you're dumb

No More Heroes isn't my favourite either but for other reasons, at the very least its not generic realistic movieslop.
