Dunno, but I'm highjacking your thread, because I don't want to open a new one.
I want a basic Mega Drive flashcart just for Mega Drive games, don't care about save states or whatever extras, as long as it works, saves and is cheap. Is the Everdrive X3 my best bet, or are there cheaper chink ones on AliExpress that do the same job? The Everdrive is discounted right now.

I have the x5 since it has that save without reseting feature. My issue is wanting to get the everdrive gb x7, but don't know if it is worth it for the clock as the only game that really uses it aree the 2nd gen pokemon games.

        >gb everdrive x7
there's a lot of decent pokemon hacks out there. If you're into that, it's probably worth it for that alone. If not, I wouldn't really think so, but real copies of the second gen pokemon games are kind of pricey these days anyway.
        >mega everdrive x5
can this be used as a sega cd backup ram cart also? I've been thinking about getting one and don't care to shell out for the expensive one with the segacd core, but would really like to use it as a save backup cart.

huh, guess im just moronic, as it was mentioned in the post above mine and on the website. ah, well.

Get a X5, it's better. It can also be used as Backup RAM for the Mega CD, which is pretty much essential since the internal memory is quite short.

Yeah, you can. I just wish I knew how to import saves to it.
I have an old Popful Mail save I played using Kega that I wanted to put inside my X5, but no luck getting it to work. Keeps asking to format RAM.

Have you tried the RTC hacks for Gen 2? They just let you adjust the time / date with the d-pad on the fly. Not as "immersive", but I use an X3 and just played through Silver on it, will probably do Crystal when my Analogue Pocket Dock comes in.

I have a GBx7, the RTC battery is already dead I need a new one (battery)

I doubt I'll have a Sega CD anytime soon. If that and saving without reset are the only things I'd be missing out on, I'd rather just get x3. If I really need the Backup RAM later down the road, I can probably resell the x3 locally for more than I paid and get an x5 anyway.

I mean, if you're not using a MCD sure. But you can also consider the chink flashcarts, there's no instant loading but there's also no need to reset to save.

The N8 Pro has a special failover mode specifically for out-of-spec Famiclones. It works great, but the N8 Pro costs as much as 10 Famiclones.

X3s are great, I have one. I have had numerous AliExpress clones too. If you play a lot,get the real one. Loading times are much better on the X series. The chinese ones are clones of the oldest EverDrive models (none of which Krikzz sells anymore) and have super slow game flashing. But they do play the same shit.

I know for a fact OP didn't ask if it did. No ones fault but OPs that he's too moronic to ask a meaningful question.

Additional question about the FX pak pro? I heard a few years back some group was going to implement save-states like what was on the n8-pro did anything ever come about that. It would make grinding shmups more simple.

FXPAK has save states now but it's buggy

I have this, the yellow NES version. It's ok. Graphical glitches in some games, a lot of Jap-only games that got translated won't work. Claims to run 85% of games iirc No CV3, no Punch Out very sad

I don't know. I don't live in a third world country so I bought a Famicom N8 and imported an AV Famicom. Wasn't even that expensive.
