Is there any game I can play as a 35 year old boomer that will let me re-experience the joy and wonder of playing World of Warcraft for the first time in 2004?

World Of Warcraft Classic
Not even close to the same thing. I'm talking about being able to experience what feels like an endless massive world for the first time with no idea of what you're doing and being able to spend months and years just exploring and learning about the game and lore.
Lobotomy.
No it's called the law of diminishing returns, sorry bud
elder scrolls online
GTA 5, but it's not retro yet.
elden ring unironically
idk maybe tibia
Guild Wars 2, or Guild Wars, but the latter is more populated and there are always PUGs running world bosses or just doing exploration runs.
I meant the former, as in Guild Wars 2. Original GW is still fun but pretty much dead outside of joining an active guild
Runescape classic private servers.
on a related note, is there anything more based than private servers?
I felt like playing some runescape the other day, then I looked at what it had become. Now I dick around with openrsc. the userbase is a fraction of what it used to be, but still pretty fun.

what's wrong with you OP I mean seriously
Write several notes on a piece of paper: "PLAY VANILLA WORLD OF WARCRAFT"
Spread these notes inside your home.
Hit yourself very hard on the head or ask someone else to do it.
Hopefully the game memories will be damaged and gone forever.
Now you can experience vanilla wow like in 2004 again.
try Diablo 4 when it comes out
World of Warcraft is gay.
Seconded.
That’s what I would do, if I was compelled to addict myself to WoW again after many years. It used to be only a glitchy few servers, but I’ve noticed now they’re mostly really stable/unbroken and running just about every iteration of the game that has ever existed. Plenty of vanillagays questing, it seems.
Lol. “We can forget it for you, wholesale.” I remember there being a Harlan Ellison story on that concept.
the homosexual community is basically a real life mmo
FFXI
In the future, corporations will be allowed to delete your memories so you can enjoy WoW all over again.
Who even plays MMOs anymore?
Elden Ring.
I'm looking forward to try to all early 3d mmorpg
ff11
everquest 1 project 99
eq2
dark age of camelot
lineage 1 classic
ryzom
star wars galaxy
and like 30 more
either play classic and hate the community, play a private server and had the community slightly less, or run your own single player mod private server until you realize MMOs aren't worth playing anymore in 2023 no matter what you do
not really. that's almost 20 years ago. everything in this area has been done already. you need to look for the next new thing. have you tried mobile games?
>35 year old boomer
What did you mean by this?
I love it when a Téléfrançais-Con cosplay comes together.
Not exactly what OP is looking for, but Dreamcast games give me a kind of nostalgia for games that I played for the first time about 20 years later. Crazy Taxi is the main culprit here. Jet Set Radio too.
