I just am so tired of awful Pokemon Directs. There's nothing to be excited about.
ScarVio wasn't good at all and the DLC looks like more of the same with largely bad new Pokemon designs (I do like the turtle).
The BDSP remakes completely ignoring Platinum (outside of the Platinum outfits) gives the impression they no longer care about making great remakes like they used to (FR/LG and ORAS are great and HG/SS is peak)
There's just nothing to look forward to anymore. The new games suck, the remakes don't seem to be a priority anymore. The anime isn't about Ash with Team Rocket forever following him. The soul is gone.
I will not forgive The Pokemon Company unless they fire all non-Japanese employees and commit to a 2D Mainline Pokemon sub-series that preserves the classic experience while they continue to stumble with their 3D projects.
I don't have the appreciation boner for Legends: Arceus that a lot of people do (Pokedex and move pool is way too small, lack of trainer battles sucks), but I can concede there's some heart in there, it tackled "open" Pokemon better than ScarVio and has a worthwhile foundation that could be improved upon.
just because the modern games suck that doesn't mean the old games have gone anywhere
They deserve official modern releases then.
So just replay them then. Emulate them or play the carts.
Just play with sticks
Jaded frick
>The soul is gone.
Absolute moron
>plagay is moronic
how typical
>ORAS are great
Lol. Stopped reading here. Remember how hated ORAS were a decade ago, and now they're being used as an example of good games. How fricking far we've fallen. Frick off zoomer. You don't hate the new games, you're just nostalgic for the DS/3DS era. When you were a little fetus, everyone universally agreed that Gen 5 and the 3DS era was shit.
this. Can’t wait for the bw demake to come out and be so shit (as in even worse than og bw somehow) that people start pretending tha bdsp was the last good remake or some shit like that
>Remember how hated ORAS were a decade ago,
no? was it a vp exclusive thing?
have a nice day. You have ruined this franchise.
i don't remember any hate around oras at the time, sorry.
Zoomers pretending to be Oldgays need to get raped with broken glass bottles
No?
The only criticism for these game is muh battle frontier, when theres an equivalent
>when theres an equivalent
Only for the Battle Tower Anon
They also took out Game Corner even though we had Voltorb Flip in HGSS
It's not just that they completely cut the post game anon, they completely fricked up all the gym leaders and the balance too making the game a lot worse to play from start to finish.
No, they cut the changes to gym leader teams making the game super easy even without EXP share, cut dungeons from emerald and the ones that did make it had their map complexity reduced. Battle frontier is just a symptom of the trend of making the games easier than Emerald to appeal to ADHD iphone babies
ORAS aren't amazing but they look like masterpieces in comparison to modern pokeslop
ORAS is shit. It was always a mediocre remake.
The problem isn't nostalgia, it's that compared to BDSP... It actually had new stuff.
ORAS is bad for pretty much all the same reasons BDSP is... It's just that they somehow figured out a way to make BDSP do the same bad things worse.
>universally
Only normalgays hated Gen 5, but everything else is spot on
keep saying it, borty
Cope newbie
>Only normalgays
So universally?
Thank you?
>a decade ago
no way it's been a decade already. wtf
I remember FR/LG being the new games. frick frick frick
It's cyclical. People were posting BW was shit back in 2013 when XYORAS were big. And now we have Unovaborts praising the game and begging for a shit unity remake.
YOU
BOUGHT
IT
ANYWAYS
YOU HAVE DON'T GET TO COMPLAIN YOU
BITCH!!!
HELLO SIR!
I stopped caring after Sun/Moon and their cutscenefest.
Just play romhacks, the soul lives in the fans not Gamefreak.
>The anime isn't about Ash with Team Rocket forever following him
Do you like watching the same plots over and over and over again? Horizons is the best the anime has been.
You need more interests asides from just Pokemon, OP.
romhacks
Just move on, god people make such a big deal out of this shit. If you don't like this what you're seeing; move on with your life, go do something else.
I'd love to, but the issue is that there is nothing else
That, but also a lot of Pokemon's appeal is in the characters. It's hard to let go when the usual issues are independent of the characters themselves. Bad game, loveable characters ends one of two ways: you manage to abandon ship despite how it hurts, or you stick around coping that it'll get better while trying to squeeze any enjoyment you can with your bromons if they even manage to get through.
Do you really have no interest in any other game franchises, anon? I get that Pokemon is kind of the only good series within the monster-taming RPG niche, but surely you can find something else to get into. It's unhealthy to just keep clinging onto Pokemon and allowing its faults to devestate you constantly. Every franchise has its flaws. You can hyperfixate on them and be angry all the time, or you can just accept it and move on.
>I get that Pokemon is kind of the only good series within the monster-taming RPG niche
Real sick of this lie getting paddled.
S/V were the best games in like a decade and the first -technologically incompetent and awkward- step towards the direction the series was always meant to take: 3D open world with overworld encounters. S/V where the biggest technological leap ever in the franchise but people only see the poor graphics and the technical issues. Not the obvious improvements.
They will double down on that and will certainly not turn things around. 2D will never come back because no real fan wants that, only people stuck in the past because of nostalgia for their childhood.
The series was in 2D, had small maps and used random encounters for only one reason: technical limitations due to being handheld games. GF is well aware of that, new 2D games wouldn't sell near as much.
>but people only see the poor graphics and the technical issues.
it's PRETTY FRICKING hard to ignore
>people only see the poor graphics and the technical issues. Not the obvious improvements.
An obvious improvement would be a stable frame rate without powerpoint LOD effects.
SV has some inexcusable and unambiguous flaws. But after playing SwSh, I can say that SV was a definite improvement. So hopefully this is a trend and the next mainline game will actually be competent
I'm hoping for more bugs and glitches. Both SWSH and SV are very boring without them.
Just play Unbound or Infinite Fusion. Romhacks and fan games have already exceeded anything GF could imagine producing, and they will only get better.
At least recommend something good.
>Has what is essentially 2 remakes
>the latter 'remake' is an entirely new take on the region
>They obviously don't care anymore
Go back to /r/eddit and Twitter you're a literal teen consuming bort youtuber content
Hisui has nothing to do with Sinnoh and the feel of the Sinnoh games other including some names and some Pokemon from that region.
Anon its a childrens franchise, certainly you cannot be this fricking illiterate.
>Hisui has nothing to do with Sinnoh
Genuinely one of the stupidest takes on /vp/ and it's concerning that multiple people think this.
Look anon, Hisui has no connections whatsoever to Sinnoh despite it being stated in the game and in marketing materials.
no
Nope, I want a refund for all the money I spent on the Switch generation as a whole. I like Crystal Clear better.
Literally the only ONLY thing i would look forward too is a 1:1 content heavy switch remake of heart gold and soul silver.
anything else they would just frickup.
PLA is the future.
PLA 2 will save Pokemon.
>gives the impression
It's not an impression, it's just a fact.
>this children's cartoon isn't the same as when I watched it 20 years ago
Who cares?
Test
Why are you clinging to a franchise you've obviously out grown instead of moving onto a better one?
Sure. But probably not anytime soon with the current staff.
>ScarVio wasn't good at all
wrong
didn't read the rest
explain how the anime not being an endless rehash for once means the soul is gone, moron
Anyone who's invested in the Pokemon anime as an adult is guaranteed to be a manchild who fears change.
So, everyone who posts on /vp/? If we weren't manchildren, we wouldn't be here
Horizons is the same old crap, but even more boring
Haven't played a pokemon game since BW2, is Pla worth it?
Yeah.
I had mixed feelings about it.
The beginning is some of the slowest shit I've ever played. It feels like an hour of cutscenes.
After they turn you loose on the map I loved it, but after I beat the titans or whatever I went out collecting items and doing some dex completion, got bored and never finished.
The soul really is when it lets you loose. It's the little things I remember the most, like reaching the top of the Magikarp pond and finding Gyarados, discovering that little hotspring with lots of different Pokémon, or hearing the village theme slowly morph into Jubilife City. There really are some glimmers of heart in there even if it's an overall messy product
>There really are some glimmers of heart in there even if it's an overall messy product
Yeah, I do feel and see a sincere attempt to make something with heart and soul in Legends. I think it's decent. I just don't think it was great. Might break it out tonight
A sequel really should expand on the concept of town building and building out a ranch for your Pokemon.
Of course not. I don't understand how you still had any hope left after SWSH, especially if PLA didn't hit for you.
The Legends series (At least I hope they continue using and expanding on those ideas) is probably the best we'll get.
>ORAS are great
You're the reason why the series is so shit these days. You're getting EXACTLY what you fricking deserve.
I was pretty disappointed we didn't get even a title teaser for BW remakes too, but I acknowledge that it's a good thing we didn't get anything. Still though, it's definitely frustrating for such a long direct to be 90% mobile ads with next to nothing on the DLC besides shit designs no one cares about. There's nothing to show off, but they're trying to drum up hype when there's nothing to be hyped about in the first place.
I wish they'd just go back and update BDSP and PLA. Not having the Hisuian forms in BDSP and missing base forms for some of them in PLA despite a handful being in there which sets the precedent that there's no rhyme or reason for it (you just simply don't get to use some of them, sucks to suck!) truly feels like absolute garbage. It's such a shame how fast GF is to forget their games after it launches, even though we're in a time where unfinished games will always have the opportunity to receive *something* after the fact to make up for time constraints in some capacity.
legends is shit
There is no hope, Only cope.
So should I not buy Violet? I skipped sword and shield and legendsynsr8, but King Gambit and Annihilape are fricking cool and I've got the Pokémon itch.
Do you like Pokemon? Do you want to battle online? Do you like the idea of random raids?
If so, yes, it's a decent game despite the visual setbacks.
If not, then skip.
I do like Pokémon. I've never been a battler, but I heard it gets easier to get into it. And I have no clue about the random raids.
They are cool designs and ScarVio have entertainment value. I personally feel SwSh wth DLC is a MUCH better experience but ScarVio are decently fun and some people think they're better than SwSh
Is there DLC for it yet? Or is it about to come out?
DLC for ScarVio will be coming out in two waves. I think the first wave releases in the fall and the second wave releases in the winter
I'm tired of games being open world just for the sake of it. I don't think Pokemon needs to be openworld. But ScarVio is fun enough, it just isn't the direction I want for the series, you might enjoy it more.
Pokemon makes way too much sense for Open World, Minecraft mods proved that.
Its exciting to visit new places, new pokemon and just be free.
if the idea of an open-world pokémon game interests you, go ahead and give it a go
i don't like that much, but it was entertaining enough and interesting to see how GF approached the idea
>So should I not buy Violet?
You shouldn't buy ANYTHING nu-Pokemon, period. Pirate it if you're that desperate.
Gen 10 looks bright, only if they will use stuff they learned from SV/PLA and combine them toghether.
> ScarVio
Yes by taking the rope
>ScarVio
Just call it SV like a normal person
