I have apeman style bleymmes for orcs, baboon style cynocephali for gnolls, and porcs for goblins. I portray all of them as barbaric savages incapable of getting along with civilized races like mankind, satyrs, centaurs, and dwarfs.

I've thought about this a bit. Chimps are a pretty brutal bunch. A "more evolved" chimp might make a good orc stand in. Maybe they found a cantrip equivalent to cooking food that allowed them to get larger brains without descending from the treetops the way we did.
Things to note: if they're still arboreal, that explains high strength but also generally less metalworking and the like, giving them a great reason to raid others. They're also, when not kicking the shit out of each other over mating rights and the like, capable of kindness and empathy, and you could have fairly nuanced interactions as well. Maybe one group trades with the humans instead, say.
