it's the only part I enjoyed about the game. leveling and exploring up until level 50ish. lost all interest when people made me want to follow a schedule
>you need to fill out an application to play a game
Then the devs wholly embraced the game = work mentality and everything went downhill from there. Do your daily chores, anon!
>Then the devs wholly embraced the game = work mentality
It was embraced from the start, there's no "then". If anything the backtracked from it as the game went on considering how fricking grindy Classic was. Dailies are a fricking joke compared to what we had to do.
>you need to fill out an application to play a game

It’s corporate design, having addicts log in daily to complete their chores let’s them brag to shareholders that they have high daily engagement.
i dunno some of the higher level zones are still great. tanaris, ungoro, and winterspring are all super comfy and fun to explore. feralas was alright the first time but becomes a headache of a maze to traverse despite looking really cool. had a lot of fun running around azshara but there was frick all to do there.
frick the plaguelands though. fricking hate that place.
I liked the plaguelands, it feels like you made it to the RPG endgame with nasty monsters everywhere, plus it has Stratholme which is kino and Tirion who is kino
Doing dailies for rep to get your attunmenet for raids was already possible in the mid to high 50s. Only on PvE servers though, otherwise you got your shit kicked in.
dropped the game when they introduced dailies back in the day with sunwell plateau i think
was already feeling that playing was becoming a chore and that was the final straw
Leveling in classic 2019 was so much fun. That was until you were nearing 60 and people acted very cold. I basically quit when I hit 60. Barely could get my hunter in any dungeon. No I don't want to be in a guild just wanna child alone a bit and do some basic pugs here and there but no that is too much asked of the classic community. What a bunch of soulless losers they are.
Yes, the ones who treat the video game like a job and try to shackle others to it are the soulless ones. The ones who just play the game, chat and have fun are the soulful ones.
Am I drunk if I think I actually played this exact version?
I'm 100% sure the current Graveyard wasn't in the game at first, and so does the huge yard before the Cathedral.

Why can't we have a comfy warcraft universe focused on questing and some light story telling
Same dude, every mmo I've ever gotten into I drop shortly after I reach max level (except XIV, I keep subbing for story patches). Playing WoW as a kid there was something really magical about finding a new area, seeing how it looked, finding the settlements in it, what cool monsters or random npcs I might find. Reaching max level always turned it all into one big grind and I wouldn't get truly excited until next expansion dropped and I got to see a whole new continent all over again.
I'm running Azerothcore with the Solocraft module that balances dungeons but how do I deal with normal group quests? Enemies outside of instances aren't scaled down
Frick man, your pic reminded me of an art friend I knew on WoW, I went looking but that style is so Western fantasy amateur it's like a needle in a haystack.
>The undead aesthetics are shit
Wrong >Forsaken shouldn't have been a Horde faction at all
Correct. Just like how southern Kalimdor was all hostile, northern Eastern Kingdoms should've been too. >But without the Forsaken the Horde would be down a race!
Delete gnomes.
you were right until you started talking shit about gnomes. Gnomes are the key to all this. Because they're funnier than they have ever had in the warcraft universe.
Goblins were the comedy race, and they did it better than gnomes back then. The only funny thing gnomes ever did was stack shrinking effects until they became unclickable in battlegrounds.

speaking of goblins, why are the females ridiculously cute and lust provoking in the race selection portrait but you can't make anything that looks remotely good? that's not fair.
>Delete gnomes
Yes. No one gave a shit out about gnomes since WC2, especially when dwarves filled their tech niche without going overboard. Still don't get why they brought them back in vanilla when not even the devs knew what to do with them, and to this day still don't. What a waste of a race slot.
>Delete gnomes.
Agreed. But 3 races on each side is too few.
Each side could have had a "monster race" which interacts with gear differently and has only one sex available: Ogres for Horde and Dryads for Alliance.
Silverpine literally doesn't have enough quests for you before everything turns red, you have to go over to the rest of the Horde if you're leveling a Forsaken.
>it's a shit zone with shit quests.
That's literally WHY it's so iconic and memorable. It's the biggest zone with the biggest level range, and even Alliance characters will have to pass through it. And this was back when characters didn't even get mounts immediately at level 40 because they were so expensive, so you had a lot of people either walking through the zone or actively grinding off of trash mobs there, ALL THE TIME.
It's not legendary for the zone quality, it's legendary for the community interactions that happen as you all suffer in there.
So basically the same appeal of MMOs in general, condensed into one zone.
>Horde is for reddit
And yet Alliance is the influencer faction. Almost every single well known Twitch or Youtuber plays Alliance. Which is even stranger considering Horde was "meta" for raiding for a number of years.
They had a chance to establish untouchable true kino. Instead they listened to the PVP homosexuals and teens on the forums. >level cap >arenas >endgame focus only
Ruined everything. Blending PVP items in PVE raids and doing things like Wintergrasp in Wrath were the last nail in the coffin.
Almost no point in doing anything in WoW anymore besides just remembering what it could have been as you grind mobs hoping for that .2% blue drop or whatever.
I relived it a bit on Elysium and Classic. Fun. But it's all gone the community that built that game is clearly long gone as well.
This is why I knew ToR was going to flop from the moment I heard Bioware was advertising being story driven and having voice acting as selling points. Coming from traditionally making single-player RPGs, they did not understand that in MMOs there are players who will grind your content out faster than you can ever hope to pump it out.
>Instead they listened to the PVP homosexuals and teens on the forums.
ironic. those brainlet israelites committed the same mistake than eq
I rolled a high pop pvp server in vanilla when the factions were balanced.
Then all the alliance upped and left and blizzard wanted me to pay to migrate my 10+ characters. I honestly spent too kuch on the game already but after all these years that's the grudge I still hold with this company. If they were less greedy or even showed generosity I would have been loyal. Even though they tricked me into subbing to cata for a year to get the steaming pile that was D3. But I hope they crash and burn now.
>questing >too impatient to grind and wait >implying the NPC was never going to come back or was being killed 24.7.365
I bet you're a homosexual to play with and have no friends.
>that shaman leap of faith
always died because of lag but man that zone was great the flats area with the goblin racing cars was a pvp frickfest on my server for some reason
Glad to see someone else likes the vanilla dungeon music as much as me, always reminds me of running wailing caverns, blackfathom deeps and molten core back when I first started playing.
Frick I love this game
I always wondered if Azshara was supposed to be a mid range leveling zone, maybe hyjal was supposed to be the max level zone but because it wasn't finished they had to make it Azshara instead

Probably. Hyjal was massive and definitely looked like a max level zone.

Kinda crazy that we had Hyal and the Caverns of Time fully mapped out and explorable way before TBC came out.
I love shit like BFD. A dungeon at the edge of the map. You have to dive through a water trap to surface under an ancient tree. Fight through monsters in a path with a low ceiling and then walk into ancient ruins. Pure kino.
>run BFD >tell people to not touch the candles, Ill light them (since i was the tank) >wait for the healer to get back to full mana >huntard and rogue start jumping around >rogue gets close to one candle, start typing >before I can tell them to step away the rogue clicked it >try to tank >room temperature IQ huntard panics and decides clicking the other candle is the best way to solve this surprise pull >get gangraped by the water elementals
tanking low level dungeons convinced me israelites couldnt be blamed from exploiting the masses, they're too moronic and easily distracted not to.

Jews made them that way. On all levels it is the israelite.
I didnt realize it until after a few princess runs, whiel waiting i looked up and was shocked to see it was actually open. it really rooted it into the world, instead of feeling like a random cave some designer dug that isnt connected at all
Love shimmering flats, it seems most people do as well. The music is good, the area is just open and vast, just a bunch of easy kill quests so it's good exp. I loved hitting that part of the zone.
I remember asking around in All chat if anyone knew how to find Teebu´s Blazing Longsword lol
Internet, datamining and minmaxers really destroyed WoW forever. IT just doesn´t work anymore. Also I was 13 back then

People usually mention some sort of turtle wow one, but I never hear about any others. I tend to stay away from private severs because a lot of creepy shit goes on behind the scenes.
Back in Vanilla, I used to get a group of guildmates together, roll up Forsaken alts, then run to the human starting area and follow around players in the farm with the bandits, wait for them to kill one, then cannibalize the corpse and /yell BRAINS.
We always ended up with a crowd of bored 60's waiting on raid groups playing along.

eastern kingdoms is 10x better. actually feels like a world, while kalimdor feels like a rushjob. Doesnt help that from ashenvale down its all deserts and rock. (well except for feralas and ungoro but ungoro sucks and feralas's main road is a pain to get on). Only problem eastern kingdoms has is that the middle bit badlands/searing/burning is all boring too
man that cata quest where you have to die sucks, i was overleveled and that shit took me half an your to figure out what the game wanted me to do, wtf was wrong with blizzard, why not just have a one hit kill effect??
then theres that pandaria quest where you have to survive the big white tiger's tasks and that sucks so hard too
No one gives a shit about your gay panda expansion
the elwynn-westfall-redridge-duskwood square is peak WoW, atleast for alliance
i didnt play horde during the olden days but since classic i would say my favorite horde zone is silverpine
Silverpine was a great haunted woods follow up to tirisfal, the quests revolving around different dalaran mages who went mad and either joined the scourge (Ravenclaw) or formed their own pocket kingdoms (Arugal) in response to lordaeron's fall and dalaran sealing itself off from the world was cool.
running around and pking n00bs
gathering resources and getting rich
leveling slow and steady; thriving with good gear and capped professions
/afk and hiding whisper chat until all quests are in order and you're ready for a dungeon
being generous with skilled frens and sharing the wealth
refusing to grind end game content and creating new characters instead
I miss it so much bros.
Classic WoW is dog shit and doesn't hold a candle to the fielding Nostalrius had.
Are there any vanilla private servers out there that aren't barren wastelands or pay to win shitfests?
>BRD, LBRS, UBRS, MC, and BWL all in one place
I should hate this, but I just loved how absolutely stacked the place was on any given day. Blackrock was always busy, even after AQ, ZG, and Naxx got released.
Kinda why I'm hesitant to try SoloCraft. I doubt it feels the same without the MMO part.
Blackrock Mountain was pinnacle Story telling archs and culmination of leveling. It felt like a massive under taking exploring all of BRM. It felt way more epic to me than any raid because it was something you could do casually as well.
I felt the same about Strath Live/UD even though it was only 2 instances combined. Technically 1 instance but still. Incredible and fun design.
>SoloCraft
This is my first time hearing about this, can anyone recommend? Losing the MMO part honestly doesn't bother me. I've always just liked the wonder of the world and going at my own pace.
mighty dudes? that's awfully sexist, isn't it???

Nostalgia can be nice, but you should never be imprisoned by it.
I agree, I think the best feeling is when your character is between the levels 25ish-39
You are starting to get powerful, while also getting new spells, and looking forward the next levels. The wolrd opens up also, neutral zones, fun dungeons...After that it slows down and at level 40 it's pretty much the same thing onwards.
man that cata quest where you have to die sucks, i was overleveled and that shit took me half an your to figure out what the game wanted me to do, wtf was wrong with blizzard, why not just have a one hit kill effect??

i leveled a shaman on a pvp server and i would /bark and autoattack alliance below level 40 when i ran past them on roads
the reactions were hilarious as they went through the stages of thinking they were getting jumped, trying to fight back, realizing they couldn't catch me in ghost wolf
it was great fun
My high school sweethheart found a dude on WoW and one day all her stuff was gone. Found out only weeks later she went to go live with the dude she never met like 5 states away.
Never recovered, been like 15 years and ive regressed into a virigin-like nerd afraid of girls.
Shame whenver i look at WoW or any other MMO all i get are vietnam style flashbacks
I never take screenshots, like ever. I wish I would have though. Sometimes my friends will link me random stuff with me in it from like Vanilla, TBC or Wrath, and it gives me such huge nostalgia.
You should start taking screenshots AND real-life pictures. Gives you something that you can fondly remember. I started regularly making pictures of myself and friends & family because I noticed I didn't even have a single picture of my wife.
WoW has always managed to keep it's landscapes looking scenic as frick, even up to BFA you could sit on zuldazar and pan in any direction to find something cool and unique or go to the swamp temple to find a more visually interesting representation of the afterlife than the entire expansion that came after. Sl was a travesty, everything looked generic and zones were no longer a seamlessly connected world. Haven't played dragonlands but every screenshot I've seen seems to be taking place in the same field.
emerald nightmare is a zone that just looks like a regular ass night elf area after you cleanse it
supposed to go back eventually. it was brought up briefly again in the latest xpac but again just a regular ass night elf zone. nothing dreamlike at all
No, the zone was scrapped and emerald dream became a place you go to for short bits in dungeons or quests.
Weak. I remember my guild downing the emerald dragon world bosses by the 4 big portals in vanilla..always thought they'd introduce some quest that would start with those mobs /portals, but quit before anything ever happened.
Side note: will WoW ever do anything as based as Scarab Lord ever again?
IIRC the portals did nothing until legion, when they allowed druids to use them as a portal network.
No, scarab lord is never happening again. 90% of the non-bot playerbase are collection autists that would go insane.
they said they couldnt get the tech right to close it off, but i wouldve just made the edges a thick mist that looped you to the other side instead of what they tried
they wanted it to be infinite, so if you ran into the edge you would be envelop by a thick mist, and once it fully obscured you it would spin you around.
well they've already had areas now that fade the screen to green and teleport you out. so apparently even modern wow devs could figure out and they can't do shit with the creaky old engine
they wanted it to be infinite, so if you ran into the edge you would be envelop by a thick mist, and once it fully obscured you it would spin you around.
They never said either of these things. They specifically said they never added it because the more they built it out the less interesting it became.
You nostalgia posting wowBlack folk need to get the frick off this board or stop shitting it up every day. The game is and always was dogshit. The leveling experience in vanilla/classic is abysmal. It's literally just the music that makes it remotely comfy, which you can easily listen to while playing a better game.
There was supposed to be a large underground dwarf cavern area between dun morogh and wetlands (and I assume loch modan). got scrapped so they could focus more on getting raids ready. raids really did kill this game.
They had a big list and people could pick dungeons of that list they wanted to do.kaz and grim batol didnt get picked before the "get hte game done" axe fell
well they've already had areas now that fade the screen to green and teleport you out. so apparently even modern wow devs could figure out and they can't do shit with the creaky old engine
they didnt have a lot of time so its obvious they ifgured it would be some xpack material
imagine vanilla servers filled with real people and AI bots who area nigh indistinguishable from normal people to fill raids and the world
the future is near
>wildly different biomes next to each other
This has been a problem with WoW since it was released. You literally walk over a bridge and for some reason all the trees are now orange, or you go 2 feet south and the dark european forest becomes a south american jungle.
Played it for 2 years pre Wrath and for some reason the only fond memories I still have floating around in my head is leveling in Westfall with some rl friends.
>Playing Human Warrior >Walking around Kalimdor. >See an Orc Warrior getting fricking swamped by mooks while fighting an elite enemy, can't remember which one. >Decide to help him. Manage to frick everything up and survive. >Sort of just start hanging out for a bit. >Communicate with the built in emotes >Would just wait outside settlements when we had to go in. >Fight monsters together and clean house. >End of the day, wave goodbye to log out. >He waves back. >Never see him again.
Racism is dead.
Not sure why you'd be proud of that story, bro.
We'd all be lying if we didn't admit to having a similar experience, but you went a bit too far and helped the opposing faction a bit too much there, and are far too proud of it, making you too submissive.
Meaning, you're a either a woman, or a gay man.
The only class I could ever get all the way to 60 in Vanilla was a tauren druid. I rememeber the form quests leveling up. Water form was especially stressful with no potions. I came back later to see they gutted all the class quests, locked talent trees, rearranged skill progression to facilitate solo leveling, and loaded you down with obscene amounts of gold so any checkpoint like mounts were trivial. Turning the leveling experience into a pipeline to the top level really killed that game.
I think it's important to note though that those were all changes that players asked for back in the day. The game was on a constant upward trajectory until Cata.
>playing with decent well adjusted and affable people, making good memories
vs >playing with the Black personcattle that is a big chunk of the playerbase
the problem I have with classic now is since we know everything about the game it makes it hard to make any class. I want to play a hunter but know I will never get into groups at 60 because they are the worst dps class and also compete with warriors and rogues for pre raid gear. Mage is oversaturated. warrior dps is oversaturated and so is rogue. you get 60 and then spend months waiting for a single new piece of gear if you arent buying boosts. healer classes can be fun but they get boring to level as they become weaker every level due to poor scaling.
yeah I wish somebody would make Vanilla+ with actually balanced classes.
Turtle seems like they have good ideas, but it's run by literal fascist trannies
idk if it would fix anything. people would parse the theoretical best dps or whatever class and then the same shifts that happen in retail and classic happen again
Classes don't have to be exactly equal, but narrowing the gap a bit would do wonders. In classic warriors crush everyone except the ignite carrier so hard it's silly, and raids would rather DE loot than take a meme class to vacuum otherwise unused trash.
That said, the issues in class disparity are a bit more nuanced than just twiddling numbers. Many classes were just designed so that they scale too little or too much with buffs and gear.
I overall enjoy Classic more but i do like that retail actually gets new content and has better graphics, gameplay, transmog general QOL features and higher population of active players so I kinda bounce between the two.
how's the economy? is there people leveling or are they all just endgaming?

Economy's fine, you can buy gear as you level mostly. Just get skinning/mining and sell shit while you level. There's people at all levels and endgame is active, although it gets quiet on NA hours.
>be me, tauren druid >go to the graveyard area in duskwood >bring out pet whelp >go stealth >wait for players to approach >jump on them from the dark >pic related
>leveling a human mage >doing raven hill quests in duskwood >get sapped >ud rogue unstealths and /waves at me >oh frick >huh he's only like 3 levels above me i might actually be able to fight him kinda weird that he's here >perception and arcane explosions aren't finding him >he just keeps sapping me over and over and waiting out the DR and ducking behind some houses to avoid los >try to run back to the road because maybe there's another ally player there that can help me >fricking stitches rounds the corner of a house right as i run by >OH FRICK >try to blink away >GET SAPPED AGAIN >get stitch'd >rogue unstealths and eats my corpse
laughed my ass off wasn't even mad. the amount of griefing that goes on in duskwood is kinda next level. made me appreciate the barrens being horde territory a lot more on my horde characters.
>server marked as "new players" sometime in late wrath or early cata >go to nelf starting zone, tame a Nightsaber, name it Nightsaber >hide in bushes and make it walk like an npc with eyes of the beast, watch newbie nelfs click it and get murdered
Some of my fondest memories, frick knife ears I'd do it again
Way way back in the early vanilla days I'd take my Infernal to the auction house and release control, then laff when its passive AOE effect killed all the low level players nearby. They patched that one pretty fast though. After that happened, I'd sometimes go to Brill and jump on one of the buildings from the zeppelin. Then I'd summon the Infernal somewhere on the ground level nearby and immediately release it. Since it couldn't path to me, its AI would break and it'd start attacking any friendly players or NPCs nearby. They eventually patched that one too I think.
>classic launch >play 36 hours straight >be one of the first to quest through stranglethorn >see a few opposite faction players but dont harass them because we are all poopsocking autists >finish the zone >run back and slaughter all the low levels at the start >see in general chat "frick theres a gank squad killing me anyone wanna help" as i leave to my next zone

Special shout out to Tanaris, I love reaching this zone because it usually means I'm around lvl 40+ and you start to really feel like you're playing your class/spec since you get access to the last talent in a tree. ZF runs are also pretty memorable, especially doing them back in vanilla when no one knew what the frick they were doing.
My brain felt gigantic when I was able to wall jump out of Mulgore, walk alongside on the mountains that divide the barrens and mulgore and follow them up to Stonetalon and drop down into Desolace.
And no I didn't use the typical spot by thunderbluff to do it, that kinda was harder and I think required a mount or some speed boost to actually do. My spot was alongside the mountain walls on the right side of mulgore halfway up the map and does not require anything but a basic char.

They no longer use his WarCraft key art anymore, though. Early WoW still used a lot of Samwise's WarCraft 1-2 designs, which were very much Heavy Metal and 80s Warhammer inspired.
What does Samwise actually do for Blizz nowadays? Still artwork? I never see anything that looks like he's done it
>Samwise
I'm honestly surprised he's still working for Blizzard.
They no longer use his WarCraft key art anymore, though. Early WoW still used a lot of Samwise's WarCraft 1-2 designs, which were very much Heavy Metal and 80s Warhammer inspired.
and this was why the game having PVP was shit. And I used to really live for this kind of stuff when it was hot and new. Little did I know I was part of the problem.
I'd love if the alpha and beta builds for Warcraft 3 got leaked. The source code for wow as well while were at it. Then we could make near perfect private servers for any expansion/patch
Vanilla private servers are already better than Blizzard's old server software.
Dialogue scripts might be a little less soulful, but no lag or batching makes the gameplay so much better.
>He doesn't know that they removed batching from Classic Era and SoM.
lol >Lag
What lag?
There is absolutely nothing superior about private servers. I have played them, and the quest scripts and dialogue are always off and sometimes even glitchy, causing no one else the ability to finish their quest if someone previously fricked up one of the key NPCs.
I got so lucky with my first mount. A random, epic accessory with fire resistance dropped from a mob. Ragnaros was still the top of raids, so I sold it on the AH for a stupid pile of gold.

what a Black person
The old WCs were easier to write since every game was after a timejump so he could untangle himself from most of the lore. WOW was one continuous story so he couldnt just jump forward 20 years, introduce a new set of characters, and dont worry too much
WC1 the Orcs drank the blood of a demon and became bloodthirsty savages. Those that didn't were aloof and distant wizards and necromancers that sat in towers to study their magics. Orcs find a "tear" in space and pry it wide enough to send a single party through, where they find wealth, food, and finely crafted tools that they take back home. Which draws the attention of more raiding parties to go through the portal until the raid "Azeroth Castle" and get got by Knights. A nameless chief (the player) unites them for another attack in the future.
WC2 retconned Ogres into existence and retconned the Orcs into being lead by demons to invade Azeroth, rather than their portal just spitting them out there randomly. The Human campaign is non-canon. Several characters like Gul'dan and Ner'zhul are retconned into being. The Dark Portal is destroyed at the end of the game. ToD recons the Dark Portal destruction and Nethergarde keep is overrun. Lordaeron is now its own continent.
WC3 retconned so many fricking things I don't even know where to begin. The entire War of the Ancients is made from nothing. The Burning Legion is now the sole driving force behind the events of WC1&2 and they're only doing it to get back at a magic "super elf" race that no one knows about to suck off a giant tree. There's also two entire continents retconned into being that no one know about and "Azeroth" is retconned into being both the planet and the south-eastern continent. Several characters have their motivations and positions changed.
TL:DR; WarCraft has been so full of retcons it really doesn't matter if there's a time jump or not.
Something that disagrees with previously established information.
If a retcon only adds info on top of the old lore but contradicts nothing, then it's not a retcon.

listed a bunch of things from warcraft 3 as retcons
but I don't see how the war of the ancients or formerly unknown continents are retcons based on what you defined >Something that disagrees with previously established information.
two: >Retroactive continuity, or retcon for short, is a literary device in which facts in the world of a fictional work which have been established through the narrative itself are adjusted, ignored, supplemented, or contradicted by a subsequently published work which recontextualizes or breaks continuity with the former. >the narrative itself are adjusted ... supplemented ... by a subsequently published work which recontextualizes ... continuity with the former.

By that definition every prequel or flashback is a retcon. Nonsense.
It has to be some disagreement with what has already been established for the "retroactive continuity" to make sense.
WC1 didnt even have the demon blood iirc. they were just bloodthirsty savages that were living on a dying world, and then found the human world.
I wouldnt call the NE a retcon, more an expansion of the lore.
And I never said the game wasnt full of retcons. My point was that the jumps forward allowed metzen to not be too bothered by the "tail" of the story. He could turn around and not trip over his own earlier stuff. Thats what I mean with untangle.
How does Classic work now? I see Classic and WOTLK, is there no more BC or is it a server option? And is there a date for hardcore? I only see the testing.
>turn broken into some gay space tiefling shit >blood elves suddenly didn't all go to outland with kael'thas and instead join the creatures that genocided them basically 2 weeks ago in elf weeks because some corpse sent a letter to metzen's self insert
lol
The Forsaken were people genocided by the Scourge as well, they share a common suffering and enemy in the Lich King. At the end of the day Elves joined the Horde because they needed a player boost.
it's really funny how hard wotlk was hyped up as gods gift to MMOs during all of classic and then it releases and it's just a shitty beta version of what would become retail
Speaking as someone that quit retail because I got sick of shamans being z-tier every fricking patch, the best part about WotLK was it being the only time the game was actually well balanced and you could play pretty much any class or spec in PVE or PVP you wanted without getting benched.
wotlk is balanced in a bad way, they homogenized all the classes and made them samey so the only real thought that goes on into roster selection is which one has the bigger number
TBC strict group comps can be frustrating but it's just a sign that every class is useful and brings valuable utility. Even meme specs like boomkin are worth bringing along in TBC just because of their crit aura
>they homogenized all the classes and made them samey
Do people really say that about WotLK because I never see what they mean.

giving classes tools and abilities that others have is homogenization. Giving tank warriors aoe tanking capabilities as good as paladins is homogenization. Giving rogues aoe as good as mages is class homogenization. Giving mage bloodlust is class homogenization. Some classes even started getting buffs the others already had

warriors were no longer the main tank and Druids got a proper rez spell so that's bad
the game has to crush your balls and waste your time to be good
If people actually enjoyed TBC there would have been a server saved for it. Truth is no one has ever liked TBC and that's why it has no server in Classic and private servers for it always die.
it's really funny how hard wotlk was hyped up as gods gift to MMOs during all of classic and then it releases and it's just a shitty beta version of what would become retail
I think you meant TBC with its massively streamlined game design, daily quests (and rep grinds locked behind them), arenas/pvp gear/resilience, and literally starting the raid logging meta. Only reason it wasn't apparent back in 2007 is because 95% of the playerbase were casuals who never raided.
Private servers don't have the issues Blizzard's classic era servers do because the latter are filled with retail players who just want to raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaid. See the world buff autism for proof.
>streamlined game design
do you mean attunements? I definitely wouldn't call that streamlined >daily quests
daily quests in TBC are designed a little differently than they were in later expansions. TBC dailies were just something to make gold, chase a dragon mount or help contribute to the server unlocking sunwell. wotlk is what started the 'daily chore' feeling to them since they became mandatory otherwise you'd fall behind >rep grinds
literally one of the best parts of TBC. You'd get rep just from doing shit you'd do anyway >no TBC servers
because for some dumb reason TBC gets shit on while wrath, the worst expansion by far, got sucked off so hard despite being shit yet TBC is the ones that's getting shit on more right now? people finally realized how garbage wrath was when they played it but they don't want to admit they were wrong about so they're just directing this frustration towards an expansion that isn't actually shit but they're pretending is so they can avoid admitting they were wrong about wotlk
>TBC gets shit on while wrath, the worst expansion by far, got sucked off so hard
Like TBC, wrath only got sucked off until wrath classic released and people actually tried to play it. Some ulduar fanboys still held on for a bit, but then ulduar released and all hopes were lost.
I will never forget during vanilla and TBC classic how hard everyone hyped up wotlk. Constantly talking about how every was just wrath waiting and how clogged up the servers were when wrath released. People barely talked about TBC in comparison
TBC was where I stopped. I was always fine being some random mook running around Azeroth. We were just 40 dudes a player would send to kill a dragon as a side quest in a mission in WC3.
Then, Illidan was a raid boss, and I thought, "How the Hell is this going to be explained in WC4?" Then, I realized WoW had hit the wall in terms of viable threat escalations. It was all shit up from there. And, WC4 never happened, anyway.
Dishonor and instanced PvP had already gutted world PvP. Cross server play made the community collapse, but major plot characters being on farm status was where I checked out.
>Play Classic Era >Level a Character with question nice and slow >Hit 60 >Do some dungeons for quest >Stop and start a new character to level again >Repeat forever
How bad is Wotlk classic rn? I gave up around lvl 60 on a Paladin after I remembered what a grind 60-70 was and how everything was about raid logging and no fun optimisation at max level.
>Horde >Plant my ass in Feralas >spend all day skinning yetis >throw them to a bank alt to sell on the AH for 45% lbp >get ahbabies sending hatemail calling me a moronic homosexual and other slurs being assmad as hell >don't even give a shit about gold or profit, just like killing and skinning the yetis >occasionally go help deal with the homosexual dragon up north whenever there's a raid group forming >just have a good time in a beautiful environment
>occasionally go help deal with the homosexual dragon up north whenever there's a raid group forming
people dont understand why not having group finder or flying mounts is a good thing, getting invited to groups because youre the only homie in the zone when the party leader searched with /who was SOUL
I got hatemail for putting 50% bids on all the 1c auctions for most of classic. The idiots had to spend 5% of that each time to cancel the auctions, which summed up to some hundreds of gold every day.
Wow was so cozy when I first started playing. Right around the time lich king was new. Just running around zones and exploring was so fun. Running into areas where I was completely out-leveled was awesome. Flight path over that molten lava place between iron forge and storm wind was intimidating as shit. I remember running up the coast of storm wind for some stupid reason with no hearthstone. Eventually I think I made it to menethil harbor. Bunch of those lvl 40 lochness monster things.
Many cozy memories that I still couldn’t get through their wow classic release
I had the same experience, started the same time as you. I dropped it toward the end of Cataclysm, but it was a great journey. Starting new characters and getting them like halfway levelled up was the best.
not playing this shit game
fpbp. God WoW's launch was the most disappointing release of my life. The god damn WoW custom maps in WC3 were infinitely better than WoW itself.
You must be a 0,0001% outlier or a hardcore contrarian.
You sound like a zoomer trying to fit in.
glow in the dark draenai pubes
it's the only part I enjoyed about the game. leveling and exploring up until level 50ish. lost all interest when people made me want to follow a schedule
>you need to fill out an application to play a game
Then the devs wholly embraced the game = work mentality and everything went downhill from there. Do your daily chores, anon!
>Then the devs wholly embraced the game = work mentality
It was embraced from the start, there's no "then". If anything the backtracked from it as the game went on considering how fricking grindy Classic was. Dailies are a fricking joke compared to what we had to do.
It’s corporate design, having addicts log in daily to complete their chores let’s them brag to shareholders that they have high daily engagement.
world exploring and questing > endgame min-maxing autism
This. Literally lost my motivation to play when I hit lvl 60 even tho I still had 12 zones to explore and shit ton of quests to do.
It's because the first few zones are genuinely the only good ones and the rest is just filler shit.
i dunno some of the higher level zones are still great. tanaris, ungoro, and winterspring are all super comfy and fun to explore. feralas was alright the first time but becomes a headache of a maze to traverse despite looking really cool. had a lot of fun running around azshara but there was frick all to do there.
frick the plaguelands though. fricking hate that place.
I liked the plaguelands, it feels like you made it to the RPG endgame with nasty monsters everywhere, plus it has Stratholme which is kino and Tirion who is kino
Schedule following only happens at level 60
lying homosexual
Doing dailies for rep to get your attunmenet for raids was already possible in the mid to high 50s. Only on PvE servers though, otherwise you got your shit kicked in.
what on earth are you talking about? the only attunement that requires rep grinding in vanilla is Naxx
dropped the game when they introduced dailies back in the day with sunwell plateau i think
was already feeling that playing was becoming a chore and that was the final straw
Exactly me. The leveling experience in classic wow is peak rpg. I wish I made more alts.
>play like 7 different classes
>get most of them in the 45-55 range
>get burned out and stop playing
As fun as leveling can be, the final 50-60 stretch is an absolute chore and completely sucks out all fun out of the game.
Yep. During classic wow, I leveled a troll shaman to 48 and stopped there. I knew how unbearable 50+ is
Leveling in classic 2019 was so much fun.
Yes, anon, the people now in guilds running dungeons with the friends they made along the way are the soulless losers, not you
Yes, the ones who treat the video game like a job and try to shackle others to it are the soulless ones. The ones who just play the game, chat and have fun are the soulful ones.
Based truth saying.
Raiders and min-maxers BTFO forever.

Why can't we have a comfy warcraft universe focused on questing and some light story telling
And that's why I play gw2. Yes, all the daily shit is chores, but it's all optional, not tied to player power, so I don't even care.
hell yeah brother
Same dude, every mmo I've ever gotten into I drop shortly after I reach max level (except XIV, I keep subbing for story patches). Playing WoW as a kid there was something really magical about finding a new area, seeing how it looked, finding the settlements in it, what cool monsters or random npcs I might find. Reaching max level always turned it all into one big grind and I wouldn't get truly excited until next expansion dropped and I got to see a whole new continent all over again.
The feelings in my heart just viewing this image. We really cant ever go back. Hahhhhh.....
Running around vanilla azeroth... with friends
Playing on your own solo server is comfy as frick.
I'm running Azerothcore with the Solocraft module that balances dungeons but how do I deal with normal group quests? Enemies outside of instances aren't scaled down
Actually I'm using Autobalance, not Solocraft. I always get them mixed up.
You can skip them, use the pet mod (where everyone gets a pet), or just complete it using GM commands.
.quest complete questid (Where you can either look up the ID or simply shift click the quest in your log with the text box open)
So far, the only quest I couldn't solo was overmaster pyron
how taxing it is on ur machine
Frick man, your pic reminded me of an art friend I knew on WoW, I went looking but that style is so Western fantasy amateur it's like a needle in a haystack.
Running around in LOTRO.
yeah ganking no shoes Black folk on stonetalon

For me its the Horde
barrens are a r*ddit meme. it's a shit zone with shit quests. that's why most of the zugs prefer to lvl on tirisfal, silverpine and hillsbrad
Silverpine is the worst zone in the game. The terraining is so bad.
The undead aesthetics are shit and Forsaken shouldn't have been a Horde faction at all.
>The undead aesthetics are shit
fricking christ
>The undead aesthetics are shit
Wrong
>Forsaken shouldn't have been a Horde faction at all
Correct. Just like how southern Kalimdor was all hostile, northern Eastern Kingdoms should've been too.
>But without the Forsaken the Horde would be down a race!
Delete gnomes.
>Delete gnomes.
Delete elves instead and turn them back into hostile forest savages.
you were right until you started talking shit about gnomes. Gnomes are the key to all this. Because they're funnier than they have ever had in the warcraft universe.
Goblins were the comedy race, and they did it better than gnomes back then. The only funny thing gnomes ever did was stack shrinking effects until they became unclickable in battlegrounds.
*presses tab*
what now homosexual
Hey, I'm not saying I clicked, I'm saying it was funny that it cucked clickers.
speaking of goblins, why are the females ridiculously cute and lust provoking in the race selection portrait but you can't make anything that looks remotely good? that's not fair.
>clicking
anon....
>Delete gnomes
Yes. No one gave a shit out about gnomes since WC2, especially when dwarves filled their tech niche without going overboard. Still don't get why they brought them back in vanilla when not even the devs knew what to do with them, and to this day still don't. What a waste of a race slot.
Because they're fun you homosexual.
>delete gnomes
Delete male gnomes. Female gnomes are too sexy.
>Delete gnomes.
Agreed. But 3 races on each side is too few.
Each side could have had a "monster race" which interacts with gear differently and has only one sex available: Ogres for Horde and Dryads for Alliance.
They make more sense than Gnomes and NE.
For me it’s Booty Bay at 3am server
Horde is for reddit and Stormwind is the most kino area in the entire game
Elwynn Forest and the surrounding leveling zones are shit. They were the first zones created and it shows
>Horde is for reddit
And yet Alliance is the influencer faction. Almost every single well known Twitch or Youtuber plays Alliance. Which is even stranger considering Horde was "meta" for raiding for a number of years.

They had a chance to establish untouchable true kino. Instead they listened to the PVP homosexuals and teens on the forums.
>level cap
>arenas
>endgame focus only
Ruined everything.
>Instead they listened to the PVP homosexuals and teens on the forums.
ironic. those brainlet israelites committed the same mistake than eq
yep. Can't believe I've brought this up numerous times and no one has ever posted this before. But this exactly. yes.
raph I thought you died of cheeto overdose
This is why I knew ToR was going to flop from the moment I heard Bioware was advertising being story driven and having voice acting as selling points. Coming from traditionally making single-player RPGs, they did not understand that in MMOs there are players who will grind your content out faster than you can ever hope to pump it out.
didnt he leave wow?
and tbis is why EQ isn't worth playing past Velious.

okkid please just fricking have a nice day.

Glad to see someone else likes the vanilla dungeon music as much as me, always reminds me of running wailing caverns, blackfathom deeps and molten core back when I first started playing.
Frick I love this game
the vanilla DESERT music, that should say
Pure kino.
Indeed its one of my favorites
>run BFD
>tell people to not touch the candles, Ill light them (since i was the tank)
>wait for the healer to get back to full mana
>huntard and rogue start jumping around
>rogue gets close to one candle, start typing
>before I can tell them to step away the rogue clicked it
>try to tank
>room temperature IQ huntard panics and decides clicking the other candle is the best way to solve this surprise pull
>get gangraped by the water elementals
tanking low level dungeons convinced me israelites couldnt be blamed from exploiting the masses, they're too moronic and easily distracted not to.
Jews made them that way. On all levels it is the israelite.

I like how Maraudon is a huge underground cave maze that opens to daylight at the end. Shame they didn't add the canyon in the open world.
I didnt realize it until after a few princess runs, whiel waiting i looked up and was shocked to see it was actually open. it really rooted it into the world, instead of feeling like a random cave some designer dug that isnt connected at all

the only good thing are the high elves but even those are kinda implemented weirdly
shimmering flats sounds so bad but when you play those quests it is really comfy. like so many things in vanilla: it just weeks (for some reason)
Love shimmering flats, it seems most people do as well. The music is good, the area is just open and vast, just a bunch of easy kill quests so it's good exp. I loved hitting that part of the zone.
Original WoW had a subtle platforming element to the gameplay that no other MMO has been able to copy even after 20 years
Rift and GW2 did platforming right
This, there was a lot of uneven terrain. When I tried XIV it was all flat with elevators here and there.

WoW is dead, it's time to let go.
Yes doing it in 2004 when you were still innocent and naive.

Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor?
Eastern Kingdoms simply for Stranglethorn Vale and Arathi Highlands. 30-45 is peak vanilla.
eastern kingdoms is 10x better. actually feels like a world, while kalimdor feels like a rushjob. Doesnt help that from ashenvale down its all deserts and rock. (well except for feralas and ungoro but ungoro sucks and feralas's main road is a pain to get on). Only problem eastern kingdoms has is that the middle bit badlands/searing/burning is all boring too
Eastern Kingdoms got better pacing. Kalimdor pacing is off and everything is either on rush or extremely slow.
I always wanted to try a thalassophobia challenge - level on one continent only without ever stepping on the other.
Try doing it without leaving pandaren start zone
No one gives a shit about your gay panda expansion
Eastern Kangdoms, flight paths in Kalimdor feels way more fricked up
the elwynn-westfall-redridge-duskwood square is peak WoW, atleast for alliance
i didnt play horde during the olden days but since classic i would say my favorite horde zone is silverpine

Incredible and fun design.
bg BC and Beyond. RIP Blizz 2009.
>SoloCraft
This is my first time hearing about this, can anyone recommend? Losing the MMO part honestly doesn't bother me. I've always just liked the wonder of the world and going at my own pace.
Loved soloing this boss as a Druid to farm for good rng on the wrists

It hurts to see just how far they have fallen
mighty dudes? that's awfully sexist, isn't it???
mighty deeds? what if they just like collecting pets? you dont need to pigeonhole everyone into this chauvinistic toxic masculine fiction of conquering innocent peoples for self-validation, sheesh
Eh, it was never about mighty dudes and mighty deeds for me. It was about being a guy in the literal world of warcraft: that was the appealing part.

My high school sweethheart found a dude on WoW and one day all her stuff was gone. Found out only weeks later she went to go live with the dude she never met like 5 states away.
Never recovered, been like 15 years and ive regressed into a virigin-like nerd afraid of girls.
Shame whenver i look at WoW or any other MMO all i get are vietnam style flashbacks
That's messed up bro, don't let a prostitute stop you from moving on
hello, soul department?
Does anyone else take screenshots through out their leveling? Something to look back on at 60, like the photographs in Earthbound during the credits
I only take screenshots when walljumping to new places.
What about farsighting?
>Heres your world tree, bro
Running around vanilla Azeroth at higher levels.
It is one of the peak comforts of being alive in 21st century
fricking saved
We we're robbed with the Emerald Dream
Did they ever put this into the game? I led raids from vanilla through bc, but know nothing of where the game went after that
No, the zone was scrapped and emerald dream became a place you go to for short bits in dungeons or quests.
emerald nightmare is a zone that just looks like a regular ass night elf area after you cleanse it
supposed to go back eventually. it was brought up briefly again in the latest xpac but again just a regular ass night elf zone. nothing dreamlike at all
>90% of the non-bot playerbase are collection autists that would go insane.
Zoomers have no appreciation for fine art
No they scrapped it like Azshara Crater
It's a raid in Legion but it's been fully corrupted by the Old Gods at that point
they said they couldnt get the tech right to close it off, but i wouldve just made the edges a thick mist that looped you to the other side instead of what they tried
>we don't have the tech for invisible walls
pure bullshit.
they wanted it to be infinite, so if you ran into the edge you would be envelop by a thick mist, and once it fully obscured you it would spin you around.
well they've already had areas now that fade the screen to green and teleport you out. so apparently even modern wow devs could figure out and they can't do shit with the creaky old engine
They never said either of these things. They specifically said they never added it because the more they built it out the less interesting it became.
Kino as frick vidya experience in 2004
T
You nostalgia posting wowBlack folk need to get the frick off this board or stop shitting it up every day. The game is and always was dogshit. The leveling experience in vanilla/classic is abysmal. It's literally just the music that makes it remotely comfy, which you can easily listen to while playing a better game.
Name 5 games that rival the classic WoW zones in world design and artistic direction. I can't think of one.
elden ring
bloodborne
dark souls 1
sekiro
super mario galaxy
There was supposed to be a large underground dwarf cavern area between dun morogh and wetlands (and I assume loch modan). got scrapped so they could focus more on getting raids ready. raids really did kill this game.
Is it true Karazhan was supposed to be a vanilla raid?
They had a big list and people could pick dungeons of that list they wanted to do.kaz and grim batol didnt get picked before the "get hte game done" axe fell
they didnt have a lot of time so its obvious they ifgured it would be some xpack material
It was going to be a raid, then it was going to be a 3 wing dungeon (so was Zul'Gurub) but then it got moved to BC.
Have an even older map.
Yes there is. It's called pre-searing at lvl 20.
imagine vanilla servers filled with real people and AI bots who area nigh indistinguishable from normal people to fill raids and the world

what could've been
now all we get are 5x5 islands with wildly different biomes next to each other
>wildly different biomes
like vanilla didnt have that.
>wildly different biomes next to each other
This has been a problem with WoW since it was released. You literally walk over a bridge and for some reason all the trees are now orange, or you go 2 feet south and the dark european forest becomes a south american jungle.
>Black Temple raid in vanilla
Pretty sure vanillas level cap was originally 70
Played it for 2 years pre Wrath and for some reason the only fond memories I still have floating around in my head is leveling in Westfall with some rl friends.

I think about the game every single day.
>Playing Human Warrior
>Walking around Kalimdor.
>See an Orc Warrior getting fricking swamped by mooks while fighting an elite enemy, can't remember which one.
>Decide to help him. Manage to frick everything up and survive.
>Sort of just start hanging out for a bit.
>Communicate with the built in emotes
>Would just wait outside settlements when we had to go in.
Any good private servers? Or even any official classic that aren't dead?
The only class I could ever get all the way to 60 in Vanilla was a tauren druid. I rememeber the form quests leveling up. Water form was especially stressful with no potions. I came back later to see they gutted all the class quests, locked talent trees, rearranged skill progression to facilitate solo leveling, and loaded you down with obscene amounts of gold so any checkpoint like mounts were trivial. Turning the leveling experience into a pipeline to the top level really killed that game.
100%. I remember when they gave rogues dual weild instead of making them earn it. Blizzard forgot the journey was the magic for 90% of players.
I think it's important to note though that those were all changes that players asked for back in the day. The game was on a constant upward trajectory until Cata.
Never listen to players, ever. They don't know what they're talking about.
Playing literally any mmo made before WoW.
>discussing vanilla wow
>thinking about vanilla wow

Fricking nuts what a 15 dollar entry fear weeds out.
I had fun playing Turtle and Warmane.
the problem I have with classic now is since we know everything about the game it makes it hard to make any class.
Hit 60, deck out in catch up gear of the patch and chill out. Raiding has become a chore, M+ always was.
yeah I wish somebody would make Vanilla+ with actually balanced classes.
Turtle seems like they have good ideas, but it's run by literal fascist trannies
idk if it would fix anything. people would parse the theoretical best dps or whatever class and then the same shifts that happen in retail and classic happen again
>parseBlack folk will always be a plague upon WoW
I hope they die
Classes don't have to be exactly equal, but narrowing the gap a bit would do wonders. In classic warriors crush everyone except the ignite carrier so hard it's silly, and raids would rather DE loot than take a meme class to vacuum otherwise unused trash.
That said, the issues in class disparity are a bit more nuanced than just twiddling numbers. Many classes were just designed so that they scale too little or too much with buffs and gear.
Classic fresh next month
And red semen demons in retail
>playing retail

Yeah but why
he loves giving trannies who've ruined the story, lore and characters, his money
chill, comfy leveling/playing in classic
get my autism fix in retail
gameplay is better
I overall enjoy Classic more but i do like that retail actually gets new content and has better graphics, gameplay, transmog general QOL features and higher population of active players so I kinda bounce between the two.
No. I hate max level tbh.
PLAP cow
Turn your view distance up
I'm not playing classic I'm on a private server
tell me where. is it super vanilla no bullshit XP bullshit or nerfed fricking garbage? please respond.
Warmane Lordaeron x1 server (3.3.5a)
how's the economy? is there people leveling or are they all just endgaming?
Economy's fine, you can buy gear as you level mostly. Just get skinning/mining and sell shit while you level. There's people at all levels and endgame is active, although it gets quiet on NA hours.
is there anything more "chad" than just playing a hunter and traveling the world with your pet?
>is there anything more "chad"

>OH FRICK
>try to blink away
>GET SAPPED AGAIN
>get stitch'd
>rogue unstealths and eats my corpse
laughed my ass off wasn't even mad. the amount of griefing that goes on in duskwood is kinda next level. made me appreciate the barrens being horde territory a lot more on my horde characters.
>server marked as "new players" sometime in late wrath or early cata
>go to nelf starting zone, tame a Nightsaber, name it Nightsaber
>hide in bushes and make it walk like an npc with eyes of the beast, watch newbie nelfs click it and get murdered
They eventually patched that one too I think.
>classic launch
>play 36 hours straight
>be one of the first to quest through stranglethorn
>see a few opposite faction players but dont harass them because we are all poopsocking autists

>see in general chat "frick theres a gank squad killing me anyone wanna help" as i leave to my next zone
I love knowing that I started the cycle of hatred on my server

Fun, but shame that hunter dps is inversely proportional to firing rate.
Them giving up on trying to balance attack speed adn weapon damage was sad. Wouldve loved it being a tradeoff rather than just slower=better
I fricking hate what they did to enhancement shamans in TBC onwards. 2h shamans were so much fun.
Special shout out to Tanaris, I love reaching this zone because it usually means I'm around lvl 40+ and you start to really feel like you're playing your class/spec since you get access to the last talent in a tree. ZF runs are also pretty memorable, especially doing them back in vanilla when no one knew what the frick they were doing.
tanaris, ungoro, and badlands are the only zones that do not have a road going through them
I really love leveling an orc hunter but I always feel like a Rexxar wannabe instead of my own character
Guys help lorewise whats a good Troll class?
Paladin
Hunter or warr
warrior, priest, rogue. maybe hunter. warlock
Shaman or Warrior. Bonus points if you get the throwing axes from LBRS.
Hunter so you can be a head hunter mon
Frick Warcrafts art style used to be so good
>Samwise
I'm honestly surprised he's still working for Blizzard.
What does Samwise actually do for Blizz nowadays? Still artwork? I never see anything that looks like he's done it
Pretty sure he's just a producer at this point. Just there to collect a monthly paycheck.
He was working for hots in 2019, and he tried to sell NFTs in 2022 lmao.
Little did I know I was part of the problem.
>and this
what?
>part of the problem
what problem?
You being an overly-sensitive troon?
no moron.
lol.
Yes.
There's literally no problem with this that webm.
You're just a little girl.
Go hide until the fighting is over.
Fricking amazing, this magic doesn't happen anymore.
this happened 4 years ago
Exactly.
>He doesn't know that they removed batching from Classic Era and SoM.
lol
>Lag
What lag?
There is absolutely nothing superior about private servers. I have played them, and the quest scripts and dialogue are always off and sometimes even glitchy, causing no one else the ability to finish their quest if someone previously fricked up one of the key NPCs.
Sorry, thought you were asking for vanilla source code instead of retail.
Classic was forked from legion.
still hoping we see a blizzard gigaleak someday.
why is warcraft so incel?
hey i knew this chick lmao
shes cute but got to be pushing 30 now

>chick
Yikes.. Anon, I have some bad news for you.

a lot of wow players found their spouse through it, probably more than any other game discussed on Ganker
but at best they are techcell betabuxing
Playing TotK on my Nintendo Switch while dilating in bed
I got so lucky with my first mount. A random, epic accessory with fire resistance dropped from a mob. Ragnaros was still the top of raids, so I sold it on the AH for a stupid pile of gold.
>blizzard fooled almost every player with an ivory raptor into trading it away for some raptors with feathers instead
>ivory raptor became the elite mount as time wore on from then
Was a warlock, so I did the quest :^)
It was after Vanilla, but getting that free Paladin mount felt so privileged.
HE'S GONNA DROP THIS PAIR OF BOOTS THAT I REALLY NEED BUT WE'LL ALL ROLL ON IT
In retrospect Metzen wasn't so bad.
>fricks up his own lore so much it's basically unfixable with the first expansion
>turns an expansion into some weird cope for his divorce
>retcons up the ass
>leaves just to rejoin after dunguser and his buddies somehow manage to ruin everything even more
he was one of the reasons everything went downhill, it's not his sole fault but still
what a Black person
I don't see the issue with a retcon when it adds to or clarifies details to already existing things if it doesn't change already existing facts
You don't know what a retcon is.
what is a retcon then
Something that disagrees with previously established information.
If a retcon only adds info on top of the old lore but contradicts nothing, then it's not a retcon.
One:
anon
listed a bunch of things from warcraft 3 as retcons
but I don't see how the war of the ancients or formerly unknown continents are retcons based on what you defined
>Something that disagrees with previously established information.
two:
>Retroactive continuity, or retcon for short, is a literary device in which facts in the world of a fictional work which have been established through the narrative itself are adjusted, ignored, supplemented, or contradicted by a subsequently published work which recontextualizes or breaks continuity with the former.
>the narrative itself are adjusted ... supplemented ... by a subsequently published work which recontextualizes ... continuity with the former.
So actually
>If a retcon only adds info on top of the old lore but contradicts nothing, then it's not a retcon.
no, that's also a retcon
I want ugly trolls
they're all ugly as sin already so your wish has been granted
Nah man they need to be Aloy levels of ugly
How does Classic work now? I see Classic and WOTLK, is there no more BC or is it a server option? And is there a date for hardcore? I only see the testing.
vanilla has legacy servers but TBC does not (so no, there's no TBC).
I used to type some spaces then [LFG][friend]: I rush SM /w me
it seemed like my friend was talking in the general channel but it was me
Vanilla doesn't have draenei
I will never forgive them for getting rid of the cat ear horns.
i want to bite her tail
>turn broken into some gay space tiefling shit
>blood elves suddenly didn't all go to outland with kael'thas and instead join the creatures that genocided them basically 2 weeks ago in elf weeks because some corpse sent a letter to metzen's self insert
lol
The Forsaken were people genocided by the Scourge as well, they share a common suffering and enemy in the Lich King. At the end of the day Elves joined the Horde because they needed a player boost.
The forsaken are violent mentally ill cannibalistic Black folk that perform fricked up experiments on kidnapped people.
Prove me wrong.
You can't.
TBC was a lot of fun while wotlk has been kinda terrible actually. It'd be a giant joke if we got wotlk servers but not TBC
wotlk was the beginning of the end for wow
it's really funny how hard wotlk was hyped up as gods gift to MMOs during all of classic and then it releases and it's just a shitty beta version of what would become retail
Those are all cata changes
warriors were no longer the main tank and Druids got a proper rez spell so that's bad
the game has to crush your balls and waste your time to be good
If people actually enjoyed TBC there would have been a server saved for it. Truth is no one has ever liked TBC and that's why it has no server in Classic and private servers for it always die.
I definitely wouldn't call that streamlined
>daily quests
daily quests in TBC are designed a little differently than they were in later expansions. TBC dailies were just something to make gold, chase a dragon mount or help contribute to the server unlocking sunwell. wotlk is what started the 'daily chore' feeling to them since they became mandatory otherwise you'd fall behind
>rep grinds
literally one of the best parts of TBC. You'd get rep just from doing shit you'd do anyway
>no TBC servers
because for some dumb reason TBC gets shit on while wrath, the worst expansion by far, got sucked off so hard despite being shit yet TBC is the ones that's getting shit on more right now? people finally realized how garbage wrath was when they played it but they don't want to admit they were wrong about so they're just directing this frustration towards an expansion that isn't actually shit but they're pretending is so they can avoid admitting they were wrong about wotlk
>Major plot characters being on farm status
You didn't pick up on that already with KT in Naxx?
i actually like female pandas
>Play Classic Era
>Level a Character with question nice and slow
>Hit 60
>Do some dungeons for quest
>Stop and start a new character to level again
>Repeat forever
How bad is Wotlk classic rn? I gave up around lvl 60 on a Paladin after I remembered what a grind 60-70 was and how everything was about raid logging and no fun optimisation at max level.
classic wrath is pretty similar to OG wrath and by that I mean it was awful
All I wanted was Dark Irons on the Horde...
>tfw no tauren wife
?t=444
Yes? Running around Azeroth on max level
>Horde
>Plant my ass in Feralas
>spend all day skinning yetis
>throw them to a bank alt to sell on the AH for 45% lbp
>get ahbabies sending hatemail calling me a moronic homosexual and other slurs being assmad as hell
>don't even give a shit about gold or profit, just like killing and skinning the yetis
>occasionally go help deal with the homosexual dragon up north whenever there's a raid group forming
>just have a good time in a beautiful environment
>occasionally go help deal with the homosexual dragon up north whenever there's a raid group forming
people dont understand why not having group finder or flying mounts is a good thing, getting invited to groups because youre the only homie in the zone when the party leader searched with /who was SOUL
Did he actually shit himself?
Picking Uninstall Wizard class.
The only thing comfier is casual everquest 1 exploration
