Alliance? Not really. It just makes the most sense that if you want games you want the thing that can play them at at whatever level of power you want (PC) and a handheld to take them on the go.
I go on a case by case basis. Ryujinx is more compatible as there is some niche weebshit that doesn't work on Yuzu. However, Yuzu runs faster and looks a bit nicer with the sharpening and anti aliasing options. It also avoids some crashes that Ryujinx can have. I was softlocked in Mary Skelter Finale due to a cutscene crashing me until I copied my saves over to Yuzu.
>no online for Splatoon, Smash, ARMS, Mario Kart, Mario Party
You can play online with Yuzu. >games like Xenoblade 2 and Astral Chain chug hard
Works on my machine.
800p is a good resolution for a device this size. Try to step the resolution up to 1080p even with a device as powerful as the Deck, and a lot of games will be running quarter resolution 540p.
If Nintendo launches a new system this year, it probably won't be as powerful as the Deck. I'd expect Nintendo to push better performance per watt into less cooling required and longer battery life with a more minor performance bump.
Screen requires less power, and newer revisions of other parts that also have less power draw.
There's also knock on effects of drawing less power like generating less heat which means the fan doesn't have to spin up as much.
Sony and MS teamed up to bring liberal sjw cancer politics to the industry along with destructive practices that will ruin video games forever. So it's easy to associate the Nintendo and PC together. I'll gladly stand with tendies though than xtrannies or snoys. At least they're not putting shit like this in their games.
In what universe? Valve didn't say shit at the height of BLM. Haven't said shit about Roe v. Wade. Don't do gay or troony awareness events. They are a very apolitical company
No. There's supposed to be an alliance between nintendo and sony so they can form a nogames alliance but they like to fling dung at each other instead for some reason.
No. But I get the impression that there's more crossover than there is with other platforms. I think the PC primaries have at least played a Mario or a Zelda game or whatever in their lives, whether on console or emulated. Whereas it feels like the Sony and Xbox fans seem like they've never branched out to other platforms.
>alliance
No, lol. I just bought a Switch because I like handhelds, and because it was hackable. I own a PC, because I play most of my games on it, and use it for work. I see no reason to own a PS5 or an Xbox.
Since this is inevitably going to devolve into a thread about handheld PCs, are the Ayn Loki and AYANEO AIR strong enough to run something like Elden Ring?
The Steam Deck is way too frickoff big for me but I’m a portablegay who can’t read PC specs. I plan on getting a ROG Zephyrus g14 for my actual gaming PC but a handheld one seems nice too
I just wanna play elden ring on a handheld if it can run that I’m good
Is the Loki Mini actually even smaller than the normal Loki? It says the mini is as big as a switch lite but it says nothing about the size of the Loki max
I imagine the loki mini has way worse specs but the switch lite is like the max size I can tolerate for a handheld
You'll want to get at least a ryzen loki. Ignore the Intel one. Ryzen Loki should be at least around Steam Deck performance but idk about comfort/thermals.
No, nothing else even comes close to the performance of steam deck. Because even UMPCs with much better specs are pushing 1080p/4k which kneecaps the ability to actually hit high settings/stable framerate.
Steam Deck being only 800p saves the entire concept. It's just big enough to make games legible and make quality show up on the screen. But it can actually hit high settings and run stable at usually 60 but sometimes 30.
On top of that you got the fact that every other UMPC has to deal with Windows bloat, but Steam Deck has both
1. Lack of Windows overhead via Linux
2. Valve hand tailoring the performance of many games to the steam deck specifically via proton
Both of these combined are fricking miracle workers. Proton alone took Elden Ring from an unplayable 16fps max to 30-40 depending on your settings.
No other UMPC on the market can match what Valve's done. Every single other one is a glorified Gen 6 and back emulator machine.
Only 70k sold worldwide, can't even buy it in Japan. Not to mention needing to sit on a waiting list for a year if you want one. The Steam Deck is an interesting piece of enthusiast hardware, and I appreciate Valve pushing to improve games on Linux; but no one sane or rational should argue in any way, shape or form that it's a meaningful alternative to the Switch.
>Only 70k sold worldwide
the steam survey is opt-in, randomly selected and only accounts for the first set of hardware you answered it for unless you take it again, using it as a metric for sales is completely moronic
specially since an html leak in the store page let us know that 100k units of the 512GB model were reserved 30 MINUTES after reservations became available
and that's just the NA region
Can confirm, I ordered 32 minutes in and got mine a few weeks ago, and the US 512 queue was one of the slower moving ones.
At the rates Valve said they were doing, 10k a week through the end of March, and 25k a week from April till today they've sold about 300k. 50k a week starting in Q3 will get them to the over a million they expected by the end of the year, and millions by the end of 2023.
Pretty much this. I remember that Yang (the creator of steamdeck) said they were doing 100K per month. This happened in April 2022. I believe that Valve can hit 1 million this year.
Yeah, I think that was basically Valve's plan, a more traditional console would have launched with about a million units around Christmas, and Valve's slower launch is going to hit that same number of units about the same time.
I forget who gave the numbers, during their developer streams, but I think that was where they said the goal was 'millions' by the end of 2023.
50k a week would be 2.6 million a year, which combined with 1.5 million for this year would put them at just over 4 million units if they keep up the current pace. Or getting pretty close to the number of MacOS users on Steam, which is Valve's first major goal.
>Muh sales
Doesn't matter, owning one completely eclipses any reason to buy anything on Switch but actual exclusives. And Nintendo has dropped production down to the point of making 2-3 exclusives a fricking year. Something like the Nintendo partner direct is a useless display in a world where the Steam Deck exists. I've had Nier Automata in my Steam Library for like half a decade, Persona 5 is going to be better played where I can be sure it won't have performance compromises, and GBA games like the Battle Network series could be emulated on total shitbox computers when the damn games were brand new. Now that I own a steam deck the 4 reasons I'm using my Switch this year are Legends Arceus, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Mario + Rabbids 2, and competitive Smash. It basically entirely eclipses the Switch in terms of hardware niche and reverts Nintendo back to the Wii/WiiU days of exclusives being the literal only thing you'd want to own on a Nintendo console.
Also even if we DO want to get into sales, it's 70k sales, that's steam decks actually shipped out. It's several hundred thousand in reservations, you don't actually give Valve a sale until it's time to ship out your deck. If Valve dedicates to ramping up production and widening their net on where they sell and selling them in more typical ways like in retail stores this thing will easy start pushing millions of sales and give the Switch a run for it's money even if passing the Switch in sales could never happen.
Steam Deck reduces the Switch's viability as a platform massively, from tons and tons of classic games you can play on the go to the 15ish non-port Nintendo titles on the console.
Not really, they've just been falseflagging as PCgays recently since Sony started to release exclusives on there. They hate the fact that their games are so easily emulatable.
That guy that keeps reposting Kirby and the Forgotten Land on a Deck from Reddit bawling about HAW HAW HAW SWITCH LITERALLY DEAD seems to point to yes, since he's trying his god damndest to fling shit.
Nintendo fans have pretended that they're bros with pc gamers for years so they can pretend they play all of the multiplat games on ps4 that aren't on switch, and for like a year and a half have tried it with xbox series x too
I don't know why playstation is the decided enemy of nintendo. Maybe it's the only one they consider a legitimate competitor because they refuse to play anything besides scrimblo and weebshit. And sony has.....knack and persona (til yesterday) and they won't stand for it?
The snoys go on and on about da powa of the PS5 compared to switch but back down and make up excuses when PC rears it's head. They also treat their exclusives like the second coming a jesus and spoil everyone else's threads then cry so damn loud that the game always sucked once it's ported.
Honestly, there is no alliances here, just that everyone is fed up with snoys being gays and everyone enjoys watching their bullshit come back and bite them in the ass.
>spoil everyone else's threads then cry so damn loud that the game always sucked once it's ported.
That's how the equilibrium of Ganker is maintained. Before it's ported everyone else shitposts those games and say they suck instead, then once the port happens everyone swap sides.
Dis 100%. The whole shit shows initiated by the fricking snoyggers. Now, we make sure that snoyggers have to get the taste of their own medicines all the time.
You can run games at 1080 or higher, but you need to be in desktop mode.
That said 1080p is about as high as this thing can go on newish games without completely choking.
No and there never was, its merely a pushed alliance by Nintendo gays that decide to miss out on most games since the Switch is basically a worthless platform.
This. It is the same thing as the supposed Microsoft Nintendo alliance that got talked about a lot during 2018-2019 when games like Ori and Cuphead came to the Switch alongside Banjo in Smash which were all technically concessions which Microsoft did most likely to in the background to try and seal a Gamepass deal on the Nintendo Switch. When that failed, all those efforts disappeared and Ori 2 had to switch publishers to get on the Switch instead of Microsoft who published the first game.
Ori was allowed on the switch just because the director of the game loves the switch for some fricked up reason and begged Microsoft to let his team do the port in which they accepted probably also because of the shitty state of xbox in that period and was a waste letting Ori only on xbone (that nobody gave a shit about) and PC.
As I said, the arrangement at the time was too good to be true. Microsoft got to keep their bridges intact with the studio by letting them release the second game on the Switch, but I bet it didn't come cheap especially with the change in publishers. Probably wasn't worth it given the harassment allegations later at Moon Studios.
The first game was already on switch so i think they where kinda forced to make the switch port for the second game too, for not letting switch owner fan's down and i must say that considering the graphically intensive game they killed it and made a little miracle on maintaining the quality and keeping 60fps on that underpowered tablet.
Alliance? Not really. It just makes the most sense that if you want games you want the thing that can play them at at whatever level of power you want (PC) and a handheld to take them on the go.
/thread
Deck would be a great replacement if valve actually shipped me one already.
No. There is a Yuzu - PC alliance.
why would you even use yuzu over ryujinx, that's a mystery
Is ryujinx really better? I used yuzu for three houses and it worked perfectly but it's the only game that works perfectly
if you have a nvidia card, yes. Ryujinx is much more stable and much more compatible. Unlike Yuzu, who make 20x more on patreon with 10x more devs.
Why would you use one over the other? Use what works.
Oh wait, this is Ganker and everything needs to be a war.
It's written in C#
>no online for Splatoon, Smash, ARMS, Mario Kart, Mario Party

Nah
>no online for Splatoon, Smash, ARMS, Mario Kart, Mario Party
You can play online with Yuzu.
>games like Xenoblade 2 and Astral Chain chug hard
Works on my machine.
>You can play online with Yuzu.
With three other people maybe
I can play with the same 5 ppl in Mexico or just turn on my switch and actually play online
A Switch Pro that chokes if it runs games at higher than 720p?
800p is a good resolution for a device this size. Try to step the resolution up to 1080p even with a device as powerful as the Deck, and a lot of games will be running quarter resolution 540p.

How so?
They haven't changed the battery on the OLED.
Screen requires less power, and newer revisions of other parts that also have less power draw.
There's also knock on effects of drawing less power like generating less heat which means the fan doesn't have to spin up as much.
Why is everyone looking for some kind of deeper whatever can we stop

Valve is as much a part of that as anyone.
Name a Valve game that praises BLM
>removed from the store
point proven thanks
>popular user-defined tags for this product
>looter shooter
fricking kek
that would require valve to release games again
hl alyx came out in 2020
They released Aperture Desk Job for the Deck.
When demand for the deck winds down you can bet they'll juice demand for it with some games that won't come to Windows.
Not if you pirate, like most users on this board.
Some butthole was so pissed when Valve didn’t say anything about BLM in 2020 that he took his shit game “Art Sqool” off of steam as a response.
True, they're the only ones with a permanent LGBTQ sale.
In what universe? Valve didn't say shit at the height of BLM. Haven't said shit about Roe v. Wade. Don't do gay or troony awareness events. They are a very apolitical company
lol no
>group all the homosexuals in one big team to "talk diversity"
>so they can all get made to quit
Based.
This is why I trust valve with my game library and nobody else, they have too much autism to care about anything other than just video games
Wrong
>crime in progress
No. There's supposed to be an alliance between nintendo and sony so they can form a nogames alliance but they like to fling dung at each other instead for some reason.
I own a PC gaming and a Switch so... yeah I'm a homosexual.
Yes only stupid Snoys would tell you otherwise PC bros are our greatest allies.
No. But I get the impression that there's more crossover than there is with other platforms. yeah i watched the nintendo direct yesterday and pic rel
most of these games i'll have a better time with on my deck
There's no alliance.
Alliances aren't real.
No, tendies serve PC chads.
huh no tendies latch onto pc masterrace in a pathetic attempt to seem relevent
There is only PC
Everything else is just a derivative of it
Remember - every console is a PC dumbed down for tech illiterate normalgays
Not really, they've just been falseflagging as PCgays recently since Sony started to release exclusives on there. They hate the fact that their games are so easily emulatable.

Who?
Pic related, he's been posting it for some few days now
>nooooo schizo
What a completely bizarre reaction to that information
holy rent free. No one even knows who you are talking about schizo
It's more of Xbox+Switch alliance.
>BLM
No, they actually don't, except to israelites.
Can confirm, I'm both a PCgay and Nintendogay
Before yes, but not anymore. SteamDeck has destroyed the alliance. I used to buy games on both steam and switch. But now I only have to buy on steam.
No
Frick off
Nintendo fans have pretended that they're bros with pc gamers for years so they can pretend they play all of the multiplat games on ps4 that aren't on switch, and for like a year and a half have tried it with xbox series x too

>I don't know why playstation is the decided enemy of nintendo.
They used to be around the PS2-PS4 era but now it's just snoys clinging to some vain hope that Sony will pull a miracle and annoying everyone.
Oh it's sony fans telling the ninendo fan image board to hate them so much. That explains it.
No, nintendo allows to own your games on PC you only own your games when you pirate.
Yes. All cool kids went Nintendo + PC when Sega Dreamcast died. newbies are literally people who started with 360 or PS3.
Its more like Nintóddlers don't really mind mustards getting their third parties, and both sides get shitposted the hardest by Sonyggérs
The snoys go on and on about da powa of the PS5 compared to switch but back down and make up excuses when PC rears it's head. They also treat their exclusives like the second coming a jesus and spoil everyone else's threads then cry so damn loud that the game always sucked once it's ported.

Someone tell me. If I have my steam deck docked in to a monitor and keyboard + mouse, can the thing STILL not run games at 1080p+? Even on a monitor?
It can run games at any resolution you set it to. What the performance is like depends on the game.
It can run up to 4K60Hz on an external monitor
Whether or not it can handle playing games that resolution is a different question.
But yes, to answer your question, of course a Linux PC can play games on a 1080p monitor.
You can run games at 1080 or higher, but you need to be in desktop mode.
That said 1080p is about as high as this thing can go on newish games without completely choking.
>You can run games at 1080 or higher, but you need to be in desktop mode.
Before that patch, yeah.
Right now, you can pick any res in gaming mode.
1080p 30
Only because keeps their exclusives on lockdown unlike the other idiot console makers.
Why would there be?
My PC plays switch games better than the actual console lol
No and there never was, its merely a pushed alliance by Nintendo gays that decide to miss out on most games since the Switch is basically a worthless platform.

I have a 3060TI and a switch. There is literally nothing else you need
maybe a 3070ti or 3080/3090 ?
there are an awful lot of cool games on the horizon, this recession is probably the best thing to happen to gaming
suddenly everyone wants our money
