Is there any reason at all for battleship to exist here? It has the advantage against nothing, It's literally just a worse Cruiser that also gets fricked by destroyers.
Good cruisers can kill battleships. But Battleships are more moron proof for doing damage to everything else and can take hits without imploding like (most) cruisers.
It's what the chart doesn't show that gives them purpose. Battleships have armour, health, and raw firepower. Cruisers have sustained firepower and mobility.
Battleships are generally the weakest class. They have a low skill ceiling because ultimately they are most beholden to RNG. However this is balanced by them being the most popular class.
Cruiser:
Loses to Carrier
Balanced against Destroyer
Balanced against Submarine
Balanced against Battleship
Battleship:
Loses to Carrier
Loses to Destroyer
Balanced against Submarine
Balanced against Cruiser
So literally just the exact same or worse all around.
Battleships exist to hard counter some cruisers that would dunk on other cruisers. That's pretty much it. There are cruisers that basically auto win against most other cruisers, but have low enough armor that a battleship completely ignores that it even exists and are thus a lot rarer to see, which ironically furthers cruiser domination even harder because there's less cruisers that can kill the cruisers that counter battleships because the battleships will kill the cruiser killers first as they can actually do damage to them.
This is incorrect.
Cruisers beat destroyers and battleships
Battleships beat potatoes
Destroyers exist just to suffer.
Submarines beat everything but carriers
Carriers beat everything
carriers in wows have an auto counter sub button that auto activates. while the carrier can't really get rid of the sub, it'll take like 10 minutes just for the sub to actually manage to kill a carrier. that's how much of a protected class they are.
>Destroyer
Small, fast, shit guns, shit armour, torpedos out the ass, will sail circles around you faster than your turrets can follow >Battleship
Big, slow, powerful guns, can take a beating, fat homosexual that will often be last to the fight but also pretty good for just sitting at the sides and taking it's time like a fat lazy bastard >Cruiser
Middle of the road in just about everything but also pretty flexible and a good backbone to any fleet >Carrier
Wanting one of these is a symptom of latent homosexualry
destroyers are/were the smallest major surface warfare vessel. not the best guns, but are able to be mass produced, and could thus be deployed in large numbers, and were the backbone of scouting duties, patrolling, and just being a workhorse in general. were also a very real threat in fleet actions as well due to how many you could bring to a fight, and the lethality of torpedoes
cruisers were more gun focused, and resilient enough to go toe to toe in major engagements, without being TOO expensive to build or run. enough to scare off a lot of destroyers if they're in a good position to fight. the quintessential warship of pre-missile warfare, although you can fit a frickton of extremely effective AA on modern cruisers; you won't see modern planes attacking any decent cruiser because of this
battleships were supposed to be the kings of direct engagements, the last word in guns and armor rolled into one package. very heavily romanticized. in practice, they were moronicly expensive to build and run, and were much more vulnerable than people would have liked, once naval aircraft became a real thing. their best use were as mobile artillery platforms, which they did ultimately do quite well at; shell islands, landing zones, or whatever you want, really, a few dozen kilometers inland.
aircraft carriers were in practice, the real gods of naval warfare when people figured out how to put planes on ships. although nowadays, anti-aircraft development has become much more advanced than in the early-mid 20th century, and no one's gonna risk their expensive ass planes to that shit
Yeah, the modern (unproven) meta is submarines > destroyer/cruisers > maritime patrol aircraft > submarines. Multirole and anti sub helicopters are only support due to low firepower and range/endurance.
It's not as bad as War Thunder and there's a lot of bonuses they throw at you to ease the grind, but once you hit Tier V, yeah, you'll start to feel the grind.
This is specifically about World of Warships. They keep pretending like AA is relevant but than Carriers just farm everyone everywhere regardless and make the game worse for everyone else.
>US ship covered in proven Bofors and Oerlikons >mediocre AA >European Destroyer with 6 dumbfired bofors >Great AA >Fictional SlavBlack person ship >Best AA in the game
>not suicide rushing the enemy team in a destroyer at 40kts with a torpedo barrage, or waiting for the battleships to pass by you in smoke
Battleships are fat useless homosexuals, where are my destroyer Chad's?
>Be Destroyer >Spot Carrier >Slalom Mode Engage >Planes can't hit for shit >10km >In Torpedo range >MADAMADA >5km >Almoooosssssst >3km >NOW! >Hard to starboard >All torpedos are go >Fricker will never be able to evade at this range >Volley of shots from Battleshit come out of fricking nowhere and nail it through the citadel >Torpedos splash harmlessly against a sinking ruin of a ship
In a 1v1 a battleship can't kill a destroyer that doesn't let itself be killed but also if the battleship holds a or d for 10 seconds in a 2 minute time frame they have like 90% chance of completely negating the destroyers damage.
gunbotes are pains in the dick but they only have one trick which is slow down and that only works once or twice.
Yes since battleships can’t really get out of the way of 4 10km torpedos very easily, but they obviously wouldn’t last to secondary fire in open combat.
I remember using this boat all the time in Battlestations. I would near suicide run near big capital ships and turn hard unleashing a death blossom worth of torp then hauling ass. Fun times.
They said they were oversized destroyers to my memory and they only have 155mm guns at higher tiers. I'm thinking it's Pan-Asian cruisers except Japanese and better detection in place of small gunspam/torpedo reload booster/smoke.
Well to be fair aircraft carriers can't do anything if any destroyer or cruiser with torpedoes comes close enough. All they can do is piss themselves and hope some other ship saves them.
i used to play carriers alot in world of warships
nervewracking but it's rewarding when i get to bully people
until they reworked CV with unlimited planes and adding sub for no fricking reason
ofc, in older version, carriers are played as top down RTS, they can control multiple squadrons of bombers and fighters
after carrier rework, player only control 1 squadron at a time in third person, direct control
They just did an economic re-work which benefited long term players more, but provided a small boost to free to play players. Either way no, you can still get into it.
The balance here is moronic then, you're telling me carriers counter submarines, submarines counter nothing, destroyers kill everything, AA, anti sub and anti ship, kills cruisers and battleships np what the frick is this imba game.
secondary battery spec German BBs, most high test play style. Get through Gneisenau asap it's shit. Bismarck slightly better but been power creeped. Still a good brawler
Carriers are still kinda bullshit sometimes but torpedo bombers barely do any damage anymore. Unless you get hit by nearly a full spread in a bb you'll shrug it off like a random salvo of AP from a cruiser. What's bullshit is how AP seems to do nothing to carriers most times, and their HP pool is too large for fires to do realistic damage. They need to be more fragile and sliiiightly more powerful in terms of the torpedo bombers. That said AA needs to become more effective at fending off attacks
Forgot scissors
Looks just like WoT artillery or War Thunder CAS in GRB. God I wish there was a vehicle autism game that didn't have this bullshit in it.
Flawless game design.
Is there any reason at all for battleship to exist here? It has the advantage against nothing, It's literally just a worse Cruiser that also gets fricked by destroyers.
ror, rumao even
babbies are the worst

I'm just reading the chart.

>be the closest on to enemy carrier as submarine
>sonar ping auto neutralized
>got bumfricked by constant barrage of bomber and attack planes
that was the moment I realized the devs were massive homosexual
i know next to nothing about naval warfare. whats the difference between destroyers, battleships, and cruisers?
Small big biggest

ENTER
bro just steer 2 degrees to either side and the 'berg is useless
>Berg also steers 2 degrees towards you
What now
Ice~~*berg*~~
Carriers don't counter cruisers or destroyers.
Where's ss
99% of submarine players suicide rush and die in the first five minute and make no impact to the game.
What game? I like playing subs/rogues/snipers.
World of Warships
Is there an insane grind?
It's F2P slavic shit of course there is a grind.
It's not as bad as War Thunder and there's a lot of bonuses they throw at you to ease the grind, but once you hit Tier V, yeah, you'll start to feel the grind.
WTF I thought those people on Youtube and WG Forum said the subs are OP as hell
Subs are OP because of morons who can't figure out how to play them. WG keeps buffing them so they can't die as easily as they should.
theyre all supposed to work together in formations. is this about some dumb game pitting them against each others in 1v1s?
This is specifically about World of Warships. They keep pretending like AA is relevant but than Carriers just farm everyone everywhere regardless and make the game worse for everyone else.
t. Navies during WWII
>US ship covered in proven Bofors and Oerlikons
>mediocre AA
>European Destroyer with 6 dumbfired bofors
>Great AA
>Fictional SlavBlack person ship
>Best AA in the game
Bullshit, US cruisers AA is still the best in the game.
Anon, there's a reason why WW2 pretty much immediately ended all battleship projects and why every navy around the world pivoted to carriers.
This is always the cheapest cope argument. We're talking about a game. A game where the devs pretend that AA works.
>not suicide rushing the enemy team in a destroyer at 40kts with a torpedo barrage, or waiting for the battleships to pass by you in smoke
Battleships are fat useless homosexuals, where are my destroyer Chad's?
>early game days with japanese destroyers soloing like 10 players per match
nothing comes even close to that, fun, fast gameplay
>mfw Toroedo range is longer that sight reveal range
I really like the chink ships they added in WoWS Legends.
Yes.
That's how it was in real naval battles
>Be Destroyer
>Spot Carrier
>Slalom Mode Engage
>Planes can't hit for shit
>10km
>In Torpedo range
>MADAMADA
>5km
>Almoooosssssst
>3km

>All torpedos are go
>Fricker will never be able to evade at this range
>Volley of shots from Battleshit come out of fricking nowhere and nail it through the citadel
>Torpedos splash harmlessly against a sinking ruin of a ship
Getting cucked by a team mate on a carrier or battleship is the worst feeling
>Battleshit
so glad i sold my account a long time ago to escape from wargaming for good
Do destroyers really beat battleships? I thought they were anti submarine in WW2.
Torpedo spam is no joke
In a 1v1 a battleship can't kill a destroyer that doesn't let itself be killed but also if the battleship holds a or d for 10 seconds in a 2 minute time frame they have like 90% chance of completely negating the destroyers damage.

>he doesn't play British Cruisers
Why are boats so aesthetic?
outta my way fatasses, I've got capital ships to torpedo
Reject battleship
Embrace attack boat
sea technical
Good enough for piracy, good enough for me
Only 15 torpedoes?
I remember using this boat all the time in Battlestations. I would near suicide run near big capital ships and turn hard unleashing a death blossom worth of torp then hauling ass. Fun times.
>Kitakami returning soon alongside IJN light cruisers
I shall orgasm.
>IJN light cruisers
I'm really looking forward to them. Hope they were more competitive than the heavy cruisers.
In practice this only happens if you're already losing or your team has garbage positioning though.
If a destroyer or cruiser chases a carrier to their corner of the map they’re straight-up throwing.
this only happens to shit teams.a decent CVgay will make sure that the enemy destroyers die within the first 7mins via spotting and torpedos.
Since when did destroyers beat battleships?
how thefrick do DD's counter BBs??? DD's are more likey to get fricking one shot by a BB over a Cruiser
by not getting spotted on a torpedo run.
i used to play carriers alot in world of warships
nervewracking but it's rewarding when i get to bully people
until they reworked CV with unlimited planes and adding sub for no fricking reason
Do carriers have planes and can players fly those planes?
Players fly a squad of planes and use a set number of plans in the squadron per attack, different numbers per nation with different damage methods.
ofc, in older version, carriers are played as top down RTS, they can control multiple squadrons of bombers and fighters
after carrier rework, player only control 1 squadron at a time in third person, direct control
why did they make a giant pistol?
How else are you going to get through a battleship's armor?
At least it's realistic
Is it too late to get into WoWS?
They just did an economic re-work which benefited long term players more, but provided a small boost to free to play players. Either way no, you can still get into it.
The balance here is moronic then, you're telling me carriers counter submarines, submarines counter nothing, destroyers kill everything, AA, anti sub and anti ship, kills cruisers and battleships np what the frick is this imba game.
What nation/ship class should I prioritise?
secondary battery spec German BBs, most high test play style. Get through Gneisenau asap it's shit. Bismarck slightly better but been power creeped. Still a good brawler
