Well, as far as customization goes, pathfinder is an endless well of build autism. WotR is a mixed bag of companions, some are fantastic, some are medicore, some are annoying; but who is what really depends on your temperament. You can hire mercs to fill in, but since you can do that in PoE as well I don't think that's a factor. If you mean spells look shit in PoE2, then I gotta say I find WotR spells look cool. If you mean the effects are shit, a lot of spells in PF are downright broken.
If you go for it, install a buff bot mod to save you the headache of buffing manually.

Wrath certainly killed RTWP games for me. Turn based is slow, but other than that, its so much better its not even funny.

Very few martial builds are THAT feat hungry, you'll eventually start taking complete filler like toughness.
And the builds that actually are feat hungry, like shield bashers, are better done by others (in this case slayer).
Mutation warrior stands out because he gets an outright irresponsible stat boost from greater mutagen, which actually elevates him above the alternatives.
i'll give it a try on another character down the line then, is aldori defender still decent though and since you say im going to eventually start taking a bunch of filler feats which are the best to get early?
Other fighters are still just fine, but not really as pure class. I suggest working your way up to greater specialization at level 12 and then doing something else with the last 8 levels.

Someone who has no idea what he's doing (in particularly how to stack AB) is up for intense suffering if trying to play this with pure martial on any noticeable difficulty. Whoever designed campaign hates martials. Everything has obscenely high AC, and obscenely low touch AC to add insult to injury. Person playing first time obviously won't have an idea about how you are supposed to stack 5 cleric domains, skald merc and group smite to counter that.

Turn one of your cleric(oracle) companions into a buffbot- get them enduring spells and greater enduring spells to save your sanity. 24h duration on most important buffs is a lifesaver.

Sorry I had no idea how good the autolevel builds are. But judging by some of the builds the companions get (hello Staunton), I wouldnt be hopeful.
You can break the autolevel though, and those two things are mythic feats, so you can get them regardless.
I would probably not use the autolevel anyway. Its better to do it manually to try to get a better understanding of how the game works (and you can respec with Hilor for free).

Might be a good idea to head on over to /crpgg/ at /vg/, since someone asked that very question in the latest thread. There's also a few 'essential' mods you'll want to use for the enhanced edition of BG1, even as a first timer.
Personally, Baldur's Gate 1 was the first D&D RPG I ever played, and I was a young teen when I got it, and I worked it out well enough despite having no table top experience. But then I grew up playing other RPG's, like the Ultima series.
Stack more buffs. If you are not hitting into 2 (and its not a megaboss) with your full BAB martial, you are missing buffs. On core, if you want to play on hard or unfair, you probably shouldnt.
D&D 3.5 (the exact same thing as pathfinder) is like the worst fricking thing ever and worst possible introduction to pnp rpgs because they have the infamous ivory tower design. That means they are purposedly designed to shit on new players and reward min maxers who know the system in and out and go out of they way to break it instead of trying to actually roleplay. It encourages making "builds" instead of characters and the worst part is that this shit was 100% confirmed by the creator to be on purpose. Its shockingly bad how unbalanced it is and how it punishes you for not having autism and wanting to actually play the game without reading five fricking guides in advance with even having a truckload of options made on purpose to be traps and shit by design just to trick new players for some god forsaken reason

You can roleplay your character, straight 20 with no frickery and still have a good time. Sword and board is a crap choice relatively speaking, but on Normal (which is what you should be playing when you have no idea whats up) it works just fine. If it doesnt, you fricking suck at videogames.
D&D has been the base of many famous cRPGs for the last 25 years, and Pathfinder is just that with more classes. If you don't know the system until now, that's entirely on you. Why have you chosen a fricking pathfinder as an entry into DnD then? Play Pillars of Eternity (different system, noob-friendly) or Neverwinter Nights (same dnd edition, noob-friendly).
If you want to play something that fights in melee without needing to dedicate half a party to be your buff slaves (who are ironically black, unless you use mercs), you just pick sword saint, disregard whole spell combat shit, cast transformation on yourself, press dimension strike and hack shit up with 2hander. VERY straightforward and just as good.
For better or worse, the system you're playing is all about stacking buffs. Later on, your martial character by himself straight up won't be able to do his job until he's roided up by the party cleric. A single spell like greater heroism can essentially mean that your chance to hit something goes from 30% to 50%, and you should be running around with multiple buffs like this ALL THE TIME. This is not something you'll feel on early levels, but even in act 1 you probably will have trouble hitting that succubus if you don't know what you're doing.

The entire system hates martials. But since druids can now also grab Hearth it's easier than ever to work around as long as the entire line up isn't martial.
The 'problem' with Fighter is that it's a class basically designed to trade class features for additional feats. Many builds use a LITTLE bit of Fighter to shore up their feat pool, but there's very little point in actually running a full Fighter because very few builds could even make good use out of it's main feature of ten additional feats.
Aldori Defender is actually pretty good though for a tanky build as long as you cut it off at level 3/8/12

Keep taking all the feats for the weapon itself as soon as they appear. (specialization, improved crit, greater focus, greater spec)
Another priority is dodge and aldori dueling for AC.
This might be counter-intuitive, but take improved unarmed strike as it opens up crane style later. After you get it, fight defensively all the time. Also make sure you have at least 3 ranks in the mobility skill to make the most of it.
Another important one (maybe not right away) is shatter defenses, but make sure your party has some easy way to make enemies shaken.
Since your aldori build uses 1h sword and has an empty hand, a smart multiclass would be a bit of magus since it's essentially an extra attack for you. But ONLY if you play turn-based, magus sucks shit in RTWP.

Crane style requires improved unarmed, which you normally wouldn't think to take.

You're getting a damage bonus from slashing grace. It counts.
Oh, but you can also get improved unarmed for free by taking 1 level of monk. That is, if you don't mind spreading levels around AND you're lawful. Monk 1 is never a waste since it gets an extra feat, even if you won't be using the rest of its features.

You are picking a feat that only helps with unarmed combat which is worthless for you. It however unlocks a feat that makes one free hand act like a shield which is great for one handed weapons.

The warrior with sneak attack is pretty good too. There are several fighter classes that make great endgame dips
It can depend on what mythic you plan on doing.
Play a bard, take lingering performance, press Inspire Courage, press it again, buff your party, attack for two turns, press Inspire Courage again and press it again.... again.
skald, plan to get greater beast totem ASAP (I think that's lvl12) and the competence attack bonus stance as rage powers.
That alone gives your the whole frontline pounce and a huge attack bonus, later on get the crit multiplier increase rage power and whatever you feel like.
Inspire rage use a standard action, then a move and finally just a swift action so you basically miss the first round in early game combats but inspire rage bonus is that good. Once it turns into a move action use that round to cast haste, displacement or whatever.
It might be a support class but you'll still do plenty of damage, also you free up a lot of spell slots from your arcane spell caster

The main reason is that I find magic unbearably boring. At low to mid levels is impossible to play a blaster, spells deal absolutely no damage, when I saw cantrips dealing 1d3 I screamed in pain.
The result is that you play magic always the same way in the most boring way possible, doesn't matter if its strong and OP as frick, wasting several turns buffing your characters and trying to hit with status ailments gets old really fast, specially when, after all the buffs have been applied, your mage is reduced to pathetically trying to hit with a crossbow, its fricking sad

There will be one more announced DLC relatively soon. However they also announced second DLC batch, but nothing specific. It's very unlikely that there will be third, because they are working on 40k crpg.
Endgame dlc is mostly combat and story is literally meaningless since you're not playing as original characters.
Second dlc is pretty cool as it's basically a low level campaign.

Kingmaker and Wrath are standalone games so you can play one or the other for your first, Kingmaker has three dlc wildcards which adds a real good new class and twin companions, a rogue like mode and a mode where you try and survive in a doomed settlement as a new character.

So I've played 2H Fighter on Easy as my first run and I messed with a control wizard by respecing for a bit (using the exploit subclass that could raise spell DC) and admittedly this spell resistance shit filters me hard. It feels worthless casting spells when they do nothing, how do I get spells to do something? I want to try a caster playthrough after I finish but I guess I have to read more for that compared to cleave spam after Sosiel and Daeran buff me up the ass.
You just need to stack the gear that overcomes spell resistance with your mythic passives. Resistance is only an issue in the first two chapters of the game. Then mythic shit kicks in and you never fail a cast.

The issue isnt really SR, you can get serious spell pen or just use spells that ignore it (mythic spells). The issue are saves. You want to carefully read spell descriptions and debuff the enemy as much as possible. Having varying spells that target different saves is also handy.
Casters are late bloomers, and spell resistance is a problem early before you have some mythic boosts to it. That's part of why Grease is so widely recommended, it ignores spell res. But if you still want to pierce spell resistance early on, you can do it with elven magic+spell pen+greater spell pen.

Yes, "I'm CN so I still get urges" or whatever, but the biggest, most important step WAS already taken. I think it would have been a lot more interesting if the PC (or PCs, in the actual AP case when playing pathfinder) could be the ones that kickstarted her jouney to redemption by doing SOMETHING while she was a recurring enemy at the start of the adventure.

I bought the first game, anything I need to know before going in? Never played this type of games
Do the main story quests after your kingdom is established as fast as possible or else you get fricked by penalty events. After they're done, you have until the next chapter start date to frick around.
Play on normal and have fun.
Also, the main quests are time limited, so you~d want to do that before most sidequests so you don~t implode your kingdom.

I played it as angel blasting shit on release, coming back in a couple of days. Want to do demon who beats the shit out of everyone. Is demon rage still shit and doesn't stack with blood rager? Really wanna do a martial giga chad. Also remind me how natural attacks work. Do they happen on their own when I do a melee attack or what? I remember seeing some demon bloodlines that gave you shitload of natural attacks.
Demon rage now automatically activates other rage bonuses you may have. As for natural attacks

Wrath is just the better game to play than KM ever is. There's nothing in it as bad to play as the hateot - even alushinyrra and Nenio's puzzle map isn't as bad, the kingdom management side isn't going to death spiral you like it can in kingmaker, there's vastly more classes to experiment with because the game just adds to all the content KM had and skips past the dull low level forest crawling the majority of crpgs and even tabletop games jerk themselves off to these days. Each chapter in wrath is focused on one objective as opposed to KM having each part be relatively unrelated with a handful of links between them.

In PF, certain weapon types have reach and some don't. Generally it's 2H polearms that do, greatswords and scythes don't, because they have bonuses to other things instead (weapons are generally balanced around each other within a proficiency category)

Kingdom managment sucked, the companions were some of the shittiest ones since fricking dragon age 2, and the lanther king endgame was atrocious. Also the game took like 2 years post laungh to be barely playable due to game breaking bugs.

Why would you play the sequel to the dullest RPG of all time? Each attempt Obsidian makes to create their own universe rather than simply deconstruct a setting made by others, has been more disastrous than the last. Aside from the outdated gameplay and lifeless cities, Pillars of Eternity's only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of combat mechanics, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Sawyer vetoed the idea of making anything at all innovative or original; he made sure the game would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable nostalgia pandering to ageing Baldur's Gate fans. Pillars of Eternity might be anti-casual(or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Divinity series in its refusal of spontaneity, fun and excitement.

The writing is dreadful; the narrative was terrible. As I played, I noticed that every time I engaged in dialogue with an NPC the game presented me with a Wiki-page style infodump instead of anything resembling actual human conversation.
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time this was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Sawyer's mind is so governed by obsession with pointless minutiae of the lore that he has no other style of writing.
Later I read a lavish, loving review of Pillars of Eternity by the same David Gaider. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kiddies are playing Obsidian games at 17 or 18, then when they get older they will go on to enjoy Dragon Age II." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play "Pillars of Eternity" you are, in fact, trained to shill for Bioware.

Unless you fricked up somewhere when picking class and proficiencies (can happen) it's mainly that real time with pause is weird.
Enable turn based to see what your rolls and chances to hit are actually like as you attack (left is what you rolled, right is what you needed to roll to hit).
Remember some things like defensive mode make your attacks harder to hit.
Thats just low level combat. You lack the tools to influence the dice at that point, unless you already know whats up.
Get evil eye on camellia and use it. Get scrolls of heroism and use those.

Raise your attack bonus. Lower enemy AC. Its kinda the crux of the combat system. Spell system too, although then you raise your DC and lower enemy saves.
