Somewhere in the middle. Game has a hell of an atmosphere and a lot of fun sidequests, and while it only has 4 dungeons, they're all enjoyable.
Games never live up to their hype.
>4 dungeons bad
Pso has 4 dungeons and its still got a scene today. Majoras mask is just a bad game.
I never said 4 dungeons bad.
Then why does Wind Waker always get so much shit for having too few dungeons?
Cause its also a bad game despite how nice it looks. Zelda, Metroid as a series have never been great. Mario at least started off hot before it tanked on snes and has been a joke ever since.
Holy obsessed, nobody talking about Metroid.
Because it's been established that a series that's had 7 - 8 dungeons throughout wouldn't reduce it to nearly half.
I'd also add that in WW's case, it's world is so vast, yet you're gated from interacting the majority of the time on top of it being locked out by dungeon items and even then there's insubstantial content anyways.
It's either Heart Pieces, Treasure Charts that lead to either rupees and/or (rarely) Heart Pieces.
Seems hypocritical. Majora’s Mask gets praised as a fan favorite despite having fewer dungeons than its predecessors.
And it was criticized for that very same thing when it came out and even still to this day. The difference is MM makes up for it with the examples I said in
That's not to say WW doesn't have things going for it that are even better than MM in some regards either, just that comparatively, MM is the more engaging and interesting game.
those few dungeons put all of ocarina's to shame
Very true. OoT set the foundation of dungeon theming, but later titles improved upon the environmental puzzle design that OoT was inconsistent with.
Wind Waker is a shitty game that does everything wrong, limited quantity of dungeons included.
Majora's Mask having few was intentionally planned out as they given Aonuma's team a while year to get the game out. Wind Waker was at the fault of rushed development bullshit where a ton of shit was left unfinished and scrapped.
Because everything else about wind waker is just as empty. It needs the dungeons to supplement that, while majora has a ton of mini dungeons and side content. Every area (minus ikana) undergoes huge changes after you beat its dungeon as well, at most in WW you get a few lines about it and thats it.
Because it filtered a generation. It was simply too early and now all of its "bad" ideas have been redeemed and made huge popular with BotW and TotK
I'd much rather play Wind Waker than Majora. WW is cute and fun and doesn't have a lame time limit
Majora's mask while having only 4 dungeons it has a ton of intricate and interesting side quests and a very dense world even if it's not the biggest. Wind waker you got a huge world with almost nothing to do and piss easy dungeons.
Wind Waker is pleasing to the eye. This game doesn't even have Zelda.
the game is ugly, it's uglier than TP
You’re wrong. These are both fun games.
based, every zelda game is overrated tendie shit, remove the nintendo seal and its just a boring game
Zoom Zoom along, Gankerermin.
Majoras Mask is a bad game with a poorly implemented time limit. That anon is right that without the Nintendo brand it becomes just another below average game forgotten and never talked about on this board. I owned and played majoras mask on release so don't talk to me about zoom zoom.
While it is true that the game gets a lot of undue praise thanks to the Nintendo label, it's still a good game. Just one way too heavily focused on various side quests.
Someone got owned by the time limit.
>stupid mechanic
not him but, its a bullshit mechanic
Git Gud.
Concession accepted.
its still a dumb mechanic, sorry
t. Doesn't do well under pressure
Go back to /dbs/
It's /dbd/ now.
>poorly implemented time limit
>you can slow time down
>you can reset it at any time
>every dungeon is designed to be manageable with time to spare
are you moronic
>have to do the Anju Kafei sidequest twice to 100% the game
what were they thinking
>you can slow down time
Nobody is going to know this on their first play through
>every dungeon is designed to be manageable with time to spare
Dungeons are full of secrets which take time to find but you don't have any time because you're 1 min away from the fricking game resetting.
Not everyone watches Majoras Mask speed runs and knows every wall clip and bomb boosting trick like you, thank God.
You can only miss it if you avoid talking to npcs in the game with the cool hub town.
>just talk to every single npc in the entire game bro
Another bad idea when you're working against a strict timer.
There is no downside to taking your time in Clock Town. What the frick are you going on about?
Once again who wants to talk to every npc they come across? This isn't a text based adventure game.
This poster has no soul. Even if you don't you'll probably still find out about it.
>Scarecrow was also useful in OoT for some things
>Scarecrow skips ahead for you
>Scarecrow tells you
>Unfamiliar territory
>Run around like a headless chicken pissing and shitting
>Be me
>Ask people for directions
>Get to my destination on time with confidence
Sage
Talking to npcs generally is a chore. Some games get it right like Shenmue or Warcraft 3 with well written dialogue and quality voice actors. Also you don't have to muck around with the scarecrow to beat oot.
>Shenmue or Warcraft 3 with well written dialogue and quality voice actors
i can give you the benefit of the doubt with Shemnue but to say quality voice actors is really a stretch. i hadn't played the game in over a decade and sat down with it again recently and a big chunk of the voice acting is hilarious. you got some big balls. it's very entertaining and impressive for it's time but quality voice acting i cannot agree with.
Not an argument. Stick to arcade games, queer.
Non tendies are not going to waste their time talking to every single npc as it's an unfun chore to begin with. The fact you guys post it was under a strict schedule to be released (which is a lame excuse as other games made in 6 weeks blow Majoras mask away) and come up with all these other excuses to make up for how shitty it is is telling. If you want an adventure game play shenmue or fate of Atlantis. If you want action play dragons trap, prince of persia or resident evil 2.
You're not making sense anymore, schizo. I accept your concession.
It's just a bad game.
So you went to the Astral Observatory and ignored the Scarecrow because you're inattentive and have no curiosity? That's your fault.
Yeah, but you do have to be pretty lame to see a moving scarecrow and not talk to it.
The game explains the inverted song of time from the scarecrow, who is accessible within the first time loop. You're just a fricking moron.
Odd that you fail to mention MM keeps important songs in your inventory but it doesn't save that song. I guess that's more 10/10 quality we've come to expect from Nintendo reused assets games.
If you can't remember song of time but backwards and double notes you have some big problems.
It's established with OoT and the scarecrow's song that the game has 'hidden songs' in it that aren't marked. It's one of the points of having a freely playable instrument.
>'hidden songs'
From day one I have said this game is flawed for forcing you into a rush but also forcing you to take your time to find secrets. I get that a lot of people in this thread got into MM from speed running and know every trick in the book but for your every day normal gamer this is not as apparent.
>It's one of the points of having a freely playable instrument.
I get that you can play flight of Valkyries on the ocarina which is neat but most players never bothered with this.
I was just a dumb autistic kid that looked around a lot, I found out about the reversed song of time.
>but for your every day moronic gamer (IE. Me)
>Oh won't someone PLEASE THINK OF THE NORMALgayS?!
Opinion discarded.
>From day one I have said this game is flawed for forcing you into a rush but also forcing you to take your time to find secrets
I'm completely with you on this. What makes it that much worse is how few meaningfully 'stand alone' secrets it has, you cannot go out and explore and expect to find hidden skultula in random locations etc. so everything you do requires a big commitment and planning to make anything worthwhile, and the idea that you can fill out a few minutes of downtime in one task by doing another just doesn't work because there's just nothing you can randomly so for a few minutes that's worth anything.
>but most players never bothered with this
It's exactly the kind of thing that these games would take advantage of to hide secrets with, otherwise it's a glorified way of selecting a power. As much as the time system annoys me, I seriously respect the integrity of the devs for the way the chose to keep this a hidden, unmarked part of the game for you to discover yourself, even in the 3DS version, instead of just throwing such a cool thing away by handing the songs to you and not letting you figure them out. Like, the way you have so many potential ways of interacting with things and can discover so much by being creative with that is precisely what makes Zelda so great.
I found it as a kid. The time limit doesn't stop you from exploring. They even added warps directly to the bosses so you can quickly trigger the post-boss environment (melted snow, etc.)
Even back in the day I knew all the weird unlisted songs from other kids on the playground
I got this game for Christmas in 2000 and we all knew about both of the manipulation Songs of Time. You're just moronic anon
You are just moronic. My condolences.
>ZOOMZOOM BACK TO V
interesting, but its still a bad game
mog of the century imo, and i liked mm
Literally read the first post again.
They both have a scene today, and they're both very fun games. Can you stop being a homosexual?
Can you stop replying/bumping to days old posts as if the anon is still here? Because that sure was worth the bump.
no? if the thread is still up I'll reply to it.
> a lot of fun sidequests
I'd argue this is the meat of the game. The game is called Majora's Mask, it's fun as a collectathon game to collect all the masks and see what they do. If you get the bomber's notebook it gives you a list of the sidequests basically and you have to puzzle out what to do with them. If you were like me and you missed the bombers notebook because you never thought to do the astral observatory questline twice, you got filtered hard.
Windwaker I would give shit for having a huge empty world (ocean) and for the second half of the game being nothing but backtracking. Also not being able to hammer out warp key's like with the ocarina of time's ocarina makes it a chore to warp around and change wind direction. Some people love it more than any other zelda game because it has good side content. If you were like me and didn't care to play pokemon snap in a zelda game, you got filtered. I enjoy wind waker a lot but it has some major weaknesses compared to it's predecessors.
I'd say the 4 side dungeons make it more replayable. You can either go for the quick replay and burn through the main content, or if you're in the mood go all-in on the side quests.
It's good that they also happen to be 4 of the best Zelda dungeons
I'll take a short and sweet game over overly long slog any day.
MM is among the top peak Zelda games that's sadly looked down upon by some people for being short.
Having grown up with both N64 Zeldas, nowadays I prefer MM. But I do think people overstate its qualities. You cant analyze MM apart from OoT. MM shines because of how creative the devs could get using practically the same assets from the previous game in such a short development time. Its a great game.
>in such a short development time
Every single time a game turns out shit this point gets brought up. Mega Drive Altered Beast took Sega 6 weeks and they managed to make it look better on inferior hardware. And even if Nintendo had 6 years to make Majoras Mask I doubt it would be any better as that's how long they spent on Yoshis Island and that turned out to be the worst Mario game up until that point.
>Yoshi's Island
>Worst Mario Game
Yoshi's Island is great. Great backgrounds, music, a deeper movement system than Mario Bros 3 and SMW with fluttering, egg shots, eating/spitting out enemies. It also has a 10/10 ending. Boy you crazy.
The time-loop mechanic is flawed, yet interesting. It might not be as good as OoT, but at least it tries something inventive.
To an extent, all Zeldas are overrated, because despite being great, they're not really the greatest things ever made. That said it's still a fun game with a unique setting. Some of the side quests are really esoteric bullshit, Japs could never into adventure game logic, they were always best with action.
>Some of the side quests are really esoteric bullshit, Japs could never into adventure game logic, they were always best with action.
Explain, pls.
Compared the level of tiny details sprinkled all over OoT and MM to other games, and then say again that is nothing special.
In OoT people sometimes still discover new things, like if you bring a butterfly to a specific hole and rotate 3 times around it, two more butterflies appear, with slightly different rotation trajectories.
Also OoT is the only game from that generation that I know that calculates the correct V-depth of the main character feet using some novel feet kinematic mapping algorithm. To think they pulled that shit back in 96 its crazy, only games in the PS3 used similar techniques.
It's definitely one of the more immersive games out there with the time management and some impressive depth to the little details of its world and characters with great puzzle design in the dungeons. The game can be very punishing in regards to the time aspect that not everyone can appreciate it and consider it more of hinderance and too stressful. It shouldn't be anyones first introduction to 3D Zelda, since some knowledge relies on the player having played and understand OoT's intricacies, like cutting bushes for ammo/hearts/etc., item/weapon experimentation and hints through NPCs.
The only real criticism I can give the game the game that 3DS fixes is not being able to set reminders or skip ahead to a specific time instead of skipping half the day. One would argue the latter point is so the player can do some tasks on the side to fill-in for the dead air, but I say otherwise in that having that option in manipulation adds to that nuance of letting the player choose how they spend their time.
so basically you're saying play the restoration mod?
I love this artstyle with the heavy shadows so much.
>Is this game all its cracked up
No, Koizumi is a pretty damn good story writer.
>Is it overrated?
Absolutely
ocarina of time is better and is more expansive. mm is pretty good, although it was justifiably seen as kind of a disappointment at the time. people wanted oot2 not whatever mm was
oot for example had a lot of iconic music and locations. mm was deliberately kind of depressing and had a weaker soundtrack which worked against it following oot. it almost felt like a banjo kazooie or rayman game or something. some kind of weird sidequest
and none of the characters from oot returned
it is overrated but it is also a really good game still. thing is its most passionate fans and its most passionate detractors are both equal parts moronic. one side is high off its own farts thinking they're so big brained for liking it and the other are brainlets who got scared of the non-issue timer.
I'd argue the latter half is worse because if their incompetence and is their sole reason for why that have a bone to pick with MM. Sadly the days of spending time replying those few dozen games you have, understanding what works and what doesn't in them, doesn't exist for the future gens and especially with older gen titles, so the majora(heh)ty of the time these types of morons will just brush off the games as shit regardless of the qualities they do posses.
i spent so much time in this piece of shit this started playing in my head at night for a few days
>There are other people that have the thing where a difficult level keeps playing in their head at night, giving them feverish nightmares where they die over and over again.
Thank God I thought I was alone. For me, it was playing Super Mario 3 for the first time.
if it's a zelda game then it's overrated
It's awesome and my favorite of the series. The overhype is there though, but that's a morons problem not a game problem.
It's a good game.
I dismiss people who say "Overrated" online.
Overrated doesn't mean bad game, that's just your fragile ego taken to effect.
Because the was worth the bump.
Totally original inputs not repeated ad-nauseam that add to the conversation.
Autistic virgin that will never know the touch of another human being.

Vibes - strong.
Moment to moment gameplay - often a god damn ma frickin slog
Like, often.
Best N64 Zelda game.
A bit of both
It's good. The best OoT clone (better than the othe r clones, WW, TP, SS), but ultimately it's just another OoT clone.
I hate ocarina of time
https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5122
Is this good?
seems legit
I don't think it's overrated. Ocarina is overrated.
I think my favorite Zelda games are the ones where the DOOONGEONZZ are out of focus. This might be why Breath is my favorite overall.
I honestly wish the entirety of Majora was just the Groundhog Day sidequests.
Is there a romhack for the N64 version that ports over the QoL fixes from the 3DS version? I don't like the uncanny valley feel of the 3DS Zelda remakes and much prefer the N64 aesthetics.
What is Google.
A search engine with an extremely limited capacity for answering questions compared to a real human.
I'm talking about the save system.
gyroaim isn't qol fixes, it's a new feature
stop being a little b***h, play the remake
you guys fricking suck
I have been informed that I rock and I believe it.
You're WELCOME, entitled homosexual.
>Can't into israelitegle
>Spoonfeed meeeeeee
moron.
https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=Majora%27s+Mask+n64+patches
I found this but there's no tweaks to the save system. https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5122/
Really? You don't like the improved contrast? Even though the fog is way spookier in MM64.
The closest we have until the decomp is finished is the redux patch. It adds some QoL like arrow swapping and mapping masks to the dpad. You really don't need anything else beyond that except I guess gyro aim.
I can't wait to see what will be possible when that's done. I really hope I'll be able to play N64 MM with a save system that doesn't suck.
N64 MM is the one with the good save system, why do you not like it? Even the 3ds system is just the owl save but persistent, which the n64 version has a version of. Finally if those two aren't enough you have save states.
>N64 MM is the one with the good save system
In your opinion, which is fine because it's a matter of personal preference.
>Even the 3ds system is just the owl save but persistent, which the N64 version has a version of
What's the N64 equivalent? It's been about 20 years since I've last played MM.
The owl statue anon. Both have it, the only difference is once you load the owl save from the N64 version you can't go back to it unless you hit an owl again. Otherwise you go back to your full 3 day save.
Not really an issue anymore, since like I said you can just save state and don't even need the owl anymore.
So it's a minor improvement then. I'd still like to see it implemented in a romhack.
Will probably never happen, MM is one of the least popular zeldas already and with the decomp as far along as it is I can't imagine people are very motivated to do QoL hacks.
It's a cult classic and there's already a patch with a bunch of other QoL fixes.
Can't stand the aesthetics of it, plus I have nostalgia for the N64 version's look even though I sucked at it when I was a kid.
And that's pretty much what I'd like to see in the N64 version.
the 3DS saving is so much better it's not even funny. save points at dungeon entrances, at major locations there's save points, since it's portable you can reach a good stopping point and pick it back up later.
if anyone hates it it's due to bad taste
>really hope I'll be able to play N64 MM with a save system that doesn't suck.
You can copy Owl saves at the main menu.
Yes it is a dumb workaround, but it saved my sanity a few times playing the GC version with its occasional crash problems.
Why you just dont Play the 3DS Version?
It will largely depend on how you engage with video games as a whole.
If you're expecting it to be OOT 2 you're going to be extremely disappointed, if you're more open minded to weird and experimental games that sometimes try to evoke a mood you'll like it.
Basically if you only shovel AAA slop its not the game for you, as it plays nothing like other AAA games, even ones made back then.
Is the Last Good Zelda Game
Majora's Mask is a pretty good game. I'm not a huge fan of the dungeons themselves (except the last one), but the sidequests and time mechanic more than makeup for it.
Really, the big win is that they used the same tone and atmosphere from OOT. OOT oozed atmosphere, and so does this game. It's very much a mood.
the music in the astronomer's lab brings me back to playing this in high school
The game is a giant fetch quest. The Zora egg quest is one of the worst in the series.
Depends what you're cracking it up to be, in terms of content it's ocarina of time again. But so is wind waker, twilight princess, skyward sword, and if you think less of those games you were probably looking to move on from ocarina at that point.
i played it when i was a kid and would always get frustrated because the game would reset itself after 3 days in game and i didnt know what to do lmao
OoT was easier
MM is by far the hardest 3D zelda, I'd argue its the second hardest zelda after 2 but that gap is pretty wide.
Really calling any zelda hard is a bit like picrel however.
It has a soul. I know, I know, our gut instinct is to scrutinize that word, but even knowing that, I'm still throwing that out as it is appropriate for Majora's Mask. It is a Zelda entirely self contained and isolated from the rest of Zelda. the other anons said it, it has an atmosphere and mood of its own. It's genuinely a unique game.
if the youtube cult hadn't happened this game would be all but forgotten as a miserable experience. It breaks the Zelda formula
It’s setting and tone are out of this world, but the actual game is frustrating, I don’t find myself having fun often while playing.
However, your mind usually only remembers cool shit, which majora has in spades, hence why so many people remember it fondly.
I think it's a solid sequel to OoT. The time mechanic/groundhog day mechanic is grows on you, especially after progressing through the game and completing the side quests.
Overrated by contrarian neckbeards
might be the best game I've played (and there's a lot)
but you have to have good tastes, if you're the kind of person that listen to music while played while talking to some people, forget
>if you're the kind of person that listen to music while played while talking to some people, forget
the only thing that can make retro games remotely bearable
Overrated. So little dungeons they added a time mechanic and collectables. The game seems rushed, which explains it's strange atmosphere. That atmosphere is also it's main appeal.
>The game seems rushed
That's because it was rushed.
It's hard for me to accept that the game is "overrated" because I still have vivid memories from when this game was shit on by basically everybody as an unfinished OoT spinoff. Not having eight dungeons I remember was a big criticism at the time. OoT was the hottest shit ever, it was outright heretical to say you liked MM more.
There was an overcorrection that tried to present MM as the underdog of the N64. The OoT boomers stopped caring so much about defending their favorite game, and the zoomers eventually found MM more appealing.
I feel this. I only ever rented Majora's mask so I didn't get far as a kid, but I liked the atmosphere, but I definitely remember people hating on it and the small minority of mm supporters. Then around 2008-2012, all these games that were hated/forgotten started to make a resurgence. It was the beginning of mainstream retro videogames. Earthbound, oot, mm, all got this huge viral appeal seemingly overnight in n retrospect. I think now that the ebb and flow of hate/love is beginning to even out. There's hate and love in equal amounts these days. Also just mellowed out opinions like "it was good but no oot", which was like setting off a time bomb even a few years ago.
Overrated unless you like following NPCs around for hours.
god i wish i was link
Twilight Princess wasn't that bad
he played the Wii version.
that must explain it, yeah the wii version didn't look that fun
Nope. Gamecube, and then Wii U.
the Wii version is peak Twilight Princess
I recently played it for the first time
I think it's fun
>
>Talking to NPCs for hints under a timer BAD because chore!
>Talking to NPCs with voice acting for hints under a timer GOOD and not chore!
I don't see the correlation this moron's making.
The American school system has failed another darkie. Many such cases.
he isn't making any. he simply likes Shenmue more than the other game. he doesn't understand it himself but will probably defend what he's saying or do the usual.
The game is great up until you get to Great Bay Temple, then it takes a steep decline as simply navigating that dungeon is impossible without a guide. Also the game crashes on Wii VC.
>Also the game crashes on Wii VC.
Thought it crashed on the GC port and was fixed on the VC?
It's the same emulator for both versions, and while it isn't as unstable on Wii, the Zora egg quest can still cause memory leaks.
As someone who didn't like OOT, MM was actually really fun.
There is much more focus on overworld shenanigans, but the few dungeons that do exist are all higher quality than any OOT dungeon.
The story is also 10 times better than whatever boring slop OOT tried to deliver.
The only issue I have is that the time limit mechanic, while opening up interesting scenarios, does get annoying at times.
It's at that tier just shy of being goated. The middle of the game is very strong, of course it has no final dungeon and no real boss, which makes it anticlimactic. The best way to approach it is like a side game for Ocarina, after playing that.
>only 4 dungeons
These people don't understand the game, MM was a big departure from the formula up to that point, where the dungeons are no longer the peak of the game.
MM shines outside its dungeons and did something so different that made it interesting and not just a boring sequel.
Anon, you don't understand. I play Zelda to mindlessly slog through corridors with some enemies or puzzles designed for children.
Considering half the dungeons are shit it begs the question why they bothered at all then. I think you're just a dumbass fanboy.
It's more fun for me than Ocarina. The world felt more alive and explorable, and the overall concept was vastly more interesting.
I like the game, but I hate that YouTube is riddled with autists talking in a fake melodramatic tone about how "depressing" and "dark" the game is. Call me an butthole, but I'm one of those people who gets annoyed at excessive praise for something. Like I get it, I like the tone of the game too. Shut up already.
The "only 4 dungeons" debate comes up a lot, and I don't mind the amount, I just wish they were good. I only really like one of the dungeons in the game, and oddly enough it's the Woodfall Temple, which nobody seems to like. Even though it was a simple layout, it flowed better than the other three temples, where I constantly got lost and went in circles trying to figure out where to go. The Snowhead Temple can frick off in that regard.
I wish the game itself was easier to pick up and play. The time limit really forces you to keep moving and I wish the time was paused in dungeons or something. I loved exploring the world of Ocarina of Time at my own pace, but with Majora's Mask, you're at risk of losing a bunch of progress if you dilly dally.
>The eerie darkness and evilness....of thomas the tank engine.....
Nintendo fans like to do this with various franchises, maybe it's a knee-jerk reaction to all the "Nintendo games are for babies" trolling. That said, I can definitely understand it happening with Majora's Mask when compared to other franchises you see it with like Kirby and Pokemon.
i mean thats unfortunately just how youtube works
>some geek makes a video on something
>it gets a lot of views
>every other geek clamors to make basically the same vid to try and cash in
rinse, repeat, for basically any topic you can think of
that said the whole "MM is dark" certainly predates youtube by a long while. most kids i knew around MMs release were really stoked that we got a grittier zelda. in fact id say MMs tone was partially responsible for the massive outcry against WWs artstyle. most people had already assumed nintendo was going to go further along the "grittier" path for the sequels. and then when WW was shown everyone wigged out cuz it was all kiddy and anime lookin
>it flowed better than the other three temples, where I constantly got lost and went in circles trying to figure out where to go. The Snowhead Temple can frick off in that regard.
Absolutely filtered.
Skimmed through most of those and they all just regurgitate the same talking points about the game kinda' like this thread. The last vid. however is the most charming. It's the guy's first playthrough of MM and he really digs it.
"MM's in 2021" is Covid slacktivism in the form of a memoir and is among the worst vids. in that pick.
He calls it his "comfort game" while analyzing MM's themes and how they relate to his feelings and personal life with current situation, both political and emotional, in New Zealand at that time and acts like he cares about humanity's safety, but when you look at his comments, he's nothing but a passive-aggressive c**t to people who disagree with him -- literal pseud hypocrite.
Just don't go in expecting a shining exemplar of the Zelda formula. If you want that, find a rom hack that cuts out all of the bullshit from Twilight Princess and leaves in just the good parts.
i mean theyre both praised as literal god figures which is kinda dumb imo
but both OoT and MM are great games. they set the standard going forward for 3D ARPGs, for better or for worse
definitely play OoT first. the MM dungeons are a fair bit harder. since the games were released so quickly they kinda expected you to be familiar with OoTs usual dungeon puzzles, and built off of that
so sure its technically overrated, but its still a great game that id recommend to basically anyone who likes action games
Love the game, zoomers have made it out to be something it simply isn't due to creepypasta maymays.
>Love the game, zoomers have made it out to be something it simply isn't due to creepypasta maymays.
Any game with Goht is worth your time. In fact, all the bosses are great, yes even Gyorg. Shitters will tell you otherwise, but shitters cant handle hitting him and getting out before getting hit back.
>overrated
Now it is, and I played it a shit ton and loved it compared to oot. Would I recommend it to anyone else <today>? no. Same for oot.
It's both an amazing game and totally overrated.
Majora's Mask is too contentious to answer that question.
OP probably learned a lot from this thread!
I fricking hate this board.
I liked it a lot when I first played it, more than any Zelda game I've played, which made me realize I just don't really like Zelda. MM was fun because it was different, but I've played through it twice now and don't really feel like doing it again.
That said, after playing this piece of shit, I realize there's a lot to appreciate about MM's execution of its ideas.
>All these casuals can't handle time managment

i love the atmosphere
/world of the game but the objectives and puzzles feel too cryptic at times. I only beat 2 dungeons and then I felt like I had to constantly
look at walkthroughs for help. It's a quality game though, I just wish it was a tad easier to figure out what to do next
Not overrated at all.. imo it's underrated .. great atmosphere, characters and stories ..
I beat this and got every heart piece bar one when I was 9 or 10 years old, so people saying it's too hard are moronic sorry.. only the water temple is somewhat frustrating and I would have liked more dungeons but I loved it and still do. A guy with a YouTube channel where he calls himself Nerrell has done a mod where he redid every texture in the game from scratch to make a HD version , available as either a mod to the n64 from or 3ds rom , along with fixing the flawed deku kid water skipping ,mechanic from the 3ds version.. I'd get the 3ds version rom and install the mod pack and play that if I were u
Underrated on Ganker. For people who act like video game pros they sure do suck at this game. Anyone who whines about the time limit I just instantly tune out.
>Somebody hates on MM
>After some probing its then revealed they just didn't make any effort to talk to NPCs or engage with the game at all
Every time.
It's the best expansion ever made
Not even close.
It's pretty close. Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Majora's Mask are the apex.
You can let the thread die now.
Or I could bump it again
or you could just die "dunna na dunna na dun nun..."
I've always wanted to like it but I can't get into the time changing back and forth mechanic
It's good. Play it on a N64 if you can
It's all that and a bucket of wings.
It's probably the best game for the N64, honestly
Majora's Mask is the best and Ocarina of Time the second best. The N64/GBC era was also the peak of the Zelda franchise

moron.
eggcore
chickcore, actually
oot is eggcore
Frick off, trannies.
Black person what? don't be mean for no reason, i'm talkin about chicks
We'll crack you one day little egg
It's a Zelda so it's automatically top 1% action adventures, which, at least in theory, is the coolest genre there is
Is it flawed (mostly due to time constraints) and a bit overhyped by contrarian neckbeards online? Yes. It's not nearly as "epic" or flawless as Ocarina, but it also doesn't really try to be
I think OoT is more flawed than MM. It just gets a pass because it did things first.
>I think OoT is more flawed than MM.
Well it isn't, at least no objectively
It's easier and the dungeons are overall worse. That and the things you do outside of dungeons aren't as interesting or fun as in MM.
