Is this game as good as they say?

Is this game as good as they say? I only played a bit of it but the gameplay felt rather slow, is the story good enough to compensate?

Isn't that game just an excuse for the author auto-masturbatory pro-abortion, pro-suicide, pro-euthanasia beliefs? Like there's an abortion inside the game and everything. I love indies but I wouldn't play a game with a story that justifies that shit

No idea, I just heard it supposedly had a good story, I can still take interest in things I disagree with if they are well made/written.

I too close my eyes plug my ears and start screaming like a histrionic woman the moment I encounter media that challenges me. No thanks! Gimme the next marvel movie!!! I need more safe, pre-chewed and regurgitated slop that reinforces what my echo chamber told me I believe in!

        >The characters in this work that I approve the most, or better say, that are closest to my ideology, are Vene and the Kursk family.

        >I have touched on the subject in the story, but now I would like to talk briefly about one of their views on happiness.

        >The world is a fleeting and impermanent place, and above all, it toys with people lives.
        >For example, let's say that "something happy" happens.
        >You'd congratulate it, right?

        >But my case is different.
        >The world allows people to experience happiness only to drive them into a pitfall of misfortune in the next moment, and enjoys seeing them wallowing in grief and spilling tears of blood.
        >In other words, happiness is a trap.
        >Therefore, as for me, I am not so optimistic that I can rejoice in happiness.
        >Rather, I cannot help but be on the lookout for the misfortune that awaits me after happiness, for the trap disguised as an happy event that this world has set for me.

        >I do not like smiling faces.
        >The reason is the same as above.
        >I can already see that a happy face will eventually crumble to dust and turn into a bloody-tears-stained mask.
        >So for me, smiling face is a face empty and void of life.

How far did you make it in the story? The gameplay becomes more interesting when you face Virginie for the first time and really have to pay attention to the elements

Not very I'll admit, maybe I can give it another chance, but the story is actually as good as they said right?

            >as good as they say
Not really, but it's alright. Other jap indie RPGs such as Ruina, Hat World, Demon Kings Chronicle, Last Scenario, Master of the Wind, and even the still unfinished 11 years later Faraway Story are all better games than SeraBlue.

            >Do you hate your life?
this is the main one, I'd say go for it.

Better as games, worse storywise though (aside from Ruina).

nah hes right, SB story is juvenile garbage except for the surprisingly mature epilogue and some scenes along the way.

Hat World falls off fairly hard story-wise at the very end but I agree on the rest

Fun fact: the very first version of the game has a different ending where Vene gives birth to two children and starts loving life.

You can still find the scrapped string in the tombstone scene map data.
