Is this game woke?
I'm considering playing it since they released a DLC to scratch that pokemon itch, i don't care about the pronouns stuff if i can turn that option off, i just want a cozy monster catching game without political story or characters.
What other game would you recommend?

Check out Dragon Quest Monster's demo on the Switch. I loved World of Final Fantasy too. Ultraman Monster Rancger in Switch might be good for you but I never got into it

Why no pokemon hacks? Ultimately pokemon has a massive amount of materials that you can work with, and that's where autists thrive. You just can't make anything similar from scratch. Theres tons of romhacks. Gaia if you want an old school classic, Clover if you want memes and difficulty, Reborn if you want edginess and difficulty. The list is endless.

gameplay is pretty good, above average for pokemon clones
soundtrack is good, it has a dynamic soundtrack that's pretty cool
Monster designs are okay, not as good as pokemon or digimon but good enough, not ugly like Tem Tem
Has some "woke" stuff like a lesbian and a nonbinary zombie vampire and non-white characters
You only use one "partner" at a time so if you don't want to play with a Black person or gay you just don't use them as your partner
The map design was good and the story was okay

Soundtrack unironically is what turned me off.
I played this for a few minutes then the background music kicks in- it was a hipster lady song with vocals and shit- and immediately I knew I would hate this game.

No, I pirated the game.
I enjoyed it well enough but I don't think I'll bolther trying the DLC, especially since my save game is long gone.
My main dislike about the game is that at endgame the gameplay never really gets more complicated or deep. Every monster in the game has access to a move that's like substitute in pokemon except it defends from three attacks, so it's easy to just always have it up and it's overpowered and felt like it centralized the game around it

Each character, except the main redhead girl, is ripped straight from California. All the characters and dialogue is very woke and cringey. The over-arching story involving archangels is very interesting and gives the game a horror vibe. Makes you want to see more.
The actual gameplay is amazing. It is my GOTY contender just because the gameplay is so good.

I gave it a chance on GamePass and it's okay. 7/10 at best. Visuals are just barely passable, combat has new ideas like more type interactions and fusing mid-battle, story didn't do anything that interesting before I dropped it. Music is kind of nice, you can turn the vocals off if you want but I thought they were alright.

Probably pozzed to shit by nature of being an indie game, but these knockoff Pokemon games confuse me. Pokemon is already shit now and when you peel away the nostalgia and familiarity there's not really a lot left that's even interesting, whats the point of making copycats that ape the gameplay with worse monster designs? The only one of these games that has ever caught my interest is Palworld by virtue of how batshit insane it looks.
Generally it's an attempt at making better gameplay to go with it, though the truth is that Pokemon's battle system through sheer iteration and a bit of luck is already pretty great as a basis and just need strong design backing it up to make the game compelling, see how many people in this thread recommending ROMhacks. At most something like the Orre games which force 2v2 or Mystery Dungeon that slaps Pokemon mechanics onto Shiren The Wanderer varies it enough while maintaining the appeal of actual Pokemon designs.
It's wild to me that there are adult men who sincerely ask "is this woke?" before they engage with a piece of media. Just absolute pussies, pillow-soft fauntleroys masquerading as "alphas".
