I knew I should have posted this on Ganker instead
>bragging about being a linux user
just go to Ganker, fart-sniffer
I wasn't bragging, I was explaining why I couldn't run the game. Just want to know what anon think of the game since I can't play it. 50% off is a good deal
You need to ask actual questions. It's hard to say if it's good or not because there's nothing to compare it to.
The selling point is realism, but until very recently it was actually laughably unrealistic. Right now it's fine, but it's still a rather weird mix of oversimulation in some aspects and abstraction in others.
The database of weapons and platforms is insane, it's a better alternative to what Janes have to offer - and Janes charge thousands for theirs. Basically that's what CMO is - an encyclopedia of weapons with a simulation engine attached to it, so you can also try things out.
Was kind of interested in this game as well but I think it would probably be too in depth for my taste. And it apparently has high system requirements.
Have you played or seen anything about Point of Attack 2? That's another "game" that's more along the lines of an actual military simulation, but it's turn based. It supposedly has very little actual content that comes with it and it wasn't popular enough to have a big userbase making content for it.

Watching a letsplay of it now. Never seen it before so thanks for bringing it to Mt attention. Looks very tactical. Crazy that it takes into account dust being kicked up and exposing movement on the map.
You still can. This board is full of sub IQ mongs who think paraisraelite map painters and StarCraft 2 are strategy games.
it's a slow board is all
>he thinks 20 minutes is a long time on /vst/
I played the predecessor, Commmand: Modern Air and Naval Operations.
Quite fun and you learn a lot about millitary stuff. Sometimes I liked to just browse around the unit database.
Just be warned that AI is pretty rudimentary in that it can only take initiative if pre-programmed by the mission designer.
where's & Conquer?
its says coqern
im gay
I’m gonna get this game eventually, but I’ll probably yar har it. Price is what? 70 dollars plus DLC? Published by matrix right? Matrix games overprices their games constantly. It is awful.
CMO is anything overpriced. It should cost at least $200 for the database alone. Steel beasts pro PE is $125, VBS2 PE used to be $500 for the base module when it was still purchasable by civilians.
>is anything but overpriced
slowfix
It's the gimped version of the stuff actual militaries use, i.e it's not fun but it's about the most advanced war simulator money can buy if you're not a government. Make of that what you will.
