>A gamer said he spent over 5.6 million Japanese yen, or over $40,000 if translated to US dollars, on Nintendo stock, and used his opportunity to ask a question during the Japanese gaming giant's annual shareholder meeting Wednesday about a fan-favorite series he wants to see revived.

Does he realize that he could have paid a small team to develop a spiritual successor with that money?
Idiot. Nintendo is headed for a downswing with the aging of the switch and their inability to prepare for the future of their ecosystem. He's gonna lose big on that investment.
>Small team
>less than one year's pay for one person
>mfw I got baited.
Game devs should not make a living wage. They should be focused on making art, not on financial gain.
Hard to do when you can’t afford to live in the first place but sure.
I wonder what mental gymnastics brought you to this moronic mindset
>small team
He’s only going to be able to hire crap LGBTQ+ garbage with that small amount of money. You’re not getting anyone with real talent
>$40,000
>small team
That's not even enough to pay one software engineer for one year.
That's plenty to get some slavshit programmers and a UI intern.
>Does he realize that he could have paid a small team to develop a spiritual successor with that money?
Oh no, now he's just stuck with a bunch of profitable stock.
40k is enough to get an entry-level programmer on the job... for like 5 months. Just one, too.
but also like, something something look up aero gpx if you want knockoff f-zero
Maybe if you outsource a lot to india you could afford enough manpower to finish a game with that sort of money.
Otherwise that's chump change. When you say small team, you're probably thinking 4 passionate indie that work from home after their real job for a year (10k each). Meaning zero actual progress.
>Nintendo is headed for a downswing with the aging of the switch and their inability to prepare for the future of their ecosystem.
imagine being this moronic.
Don't even need to remark on the rest.
>40k
If by "small team" you mean one or two third world code monkeys, sure
Interesting strategy, but yeah, what the frick did he expect?
>spend three years learning Japanese
>spend $40,000 on stock to get on Nintendo of Japan investor call
>tell them, in well-practiced nipponese, that I have been pirating their hardware and games for most of my life and will continue to do so no matter what they do
>refuse to elaborate further
>hang up the phone
>tell broker that he can sell off my Ninty shares now
I kneel
Unironically this would be fricking awesome if someone did it.
that's an interesting strategy. if it pays off, trust me, more morons will start doing the same but profoundly more moronic demands.
Can't be worse than the brain deaders ninty has for shareholders right now.
Like the guy who demanded nintendo let players pay more to make Mario jump higher?
Wait, what? This is the first I've heard of that one, but thats hilarious.
Only investor story I remember is the one where the guy butted in to as "Why are you always talking about games in these meetings?
https://www.escapistmagazine.com/pay-99-cents-to-make-mario-jump-higher-hedge-fund-urges/
Nintendo has the worst shareholders, it's insane.
there's also that one investor who inquired how nintendo is gonna target the investors demographic that doesn't use any technology at all.
Don't forget the guy in 2015 who asked them why they kept talking about games.
Imagine investing that much money into a company when you don't even fricking know what it does.
Jesus christ, with how bad the shareholders are it's a miracle that nintendo is only a bad business company and not also make dogshit games
There was an Investors that asked Famicom Detective Club remake several times and Nintendo granted his wish
>several times
i hope this guy has a few more hundred thousand dollars
>with that much money he could've hired developers to make his dream game
>that's enough money for your own house's initial payment
>asking for F-zero of all things
of course it's a gamecube baby
>gamecube baby
Only F-zero and Beaten Kaitos are from game cube era. He actually asked several games to Shinya Takahashi: Warioland, Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru, Kousoku Card Battle: Card Hero, and Chōsōjū Mecha MG
https://twitter.com/momiji_manjyuu/status/1542026304966782976?
>Wario Land
>F-Zero
Damn, he's based, only thing he's missing is Sin & Punishment
>Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru
I really hope they follow through and this gets a sequel. A remake would be okay... but it's a 4 hour long walking sim/light platformer that I played multiple times already so it'd be a bit of a waste
>"fan-favourites"
No one gave a shit about FZero when it released its best game ever. No one gives a shit about FZero beyond Captain Meme from the stinky muhlay daycare masher.
It sold way fricking better than Fire Emblem games did in the same era. Nintendo literally only shelved F-Zero after the 6th gen because they're jealous c**ts about Sega/AmusementVision absolutely knocking it out of the park.
I thought it was because the anime didn't do well along with the GBA game
No one said anything about Fire Emblem.
I'm using it as an example of how fricking off-base and stupid it is to claim F-Zero "flopped" when something like Fire Emblem was given a ton of chances to succeed, where F-Zero was immediately shitbinned for no clear reason.
that's because intelligent systems WANTS to make fire emblem. they are not mandated from above, they are not owned by anybody, they actually like making it.
nobody inside nintendo cares about "insert your favourite niche franchise here" apparently
>that's because intelligent systems WANTS to make fire emblem
Because it sells well, moron
they kept making new fire emblem games even when it sold like shit, over and over
There's more than one way to make money off a franchise, but you have to put out games to keep it alive.
sounds like f zero was not worth keeping alive then
Fire Emblem was given 1 last chance to succeed with awakening. They had to sell something like 250k units otherwise the franchise would be put on indefinite hold. They fricking sold 3 million. FZero needed to do that but couldn't. That's the difference
>Fire Emblem is a beloved and profitable series now.
>F-Zero is just a dead meme series now.
how the tables have turned.
>F-Zero (a worldwide release) did better than Fire Emblem, when Fire Emblem was stuck only releasing in Japan
die hard tendie here, Mother was NEVER good.
LET THE MOTHER SERIES FRICKING REST IN PEACE ALREADY
THE STORY IS OVER
ITOI DOESN'T WANT TO DO IT
YOU DENSE MORONS
JUST LET IT REST
What are you talking about? There's a big button at Nintendo that's labelled "Press here to magically create Mother 4."
All Nintendo has to do is press this magic button!!!
The story is only over because Itoi wants to. The series can obviously continue, just with a new cast and setting.
It's no different from something like Final Fantasy.
If these schizos actually played the game rather than just claim they did for Internet points, they'd know the franchise is over because the 3rd game promoted blatant pedofilia and there ain't any way that will ever be put forward by Nintendo.
ellaborate please
nevermind, thought you were talking about f-zero
reggie talked a little bit about it in his book. he said the reason it hasn't been localized even on vc legitimately is because of too low percieved demand. the content was never the problem.
>morons still mad at some random comic relief hot spring scene from a Japanese game.
>40,000 usd
try 4,000,000,000 usd if you really want them to take you seriously
fake and gay.
What if tendies start buying Nintendo stock more and more that it gets to point where investor meetings are just full of people making game requests?
Every american should stfu about the series, it is thanks to them and their wokeness that 3 will never get a western release and the series is dead.
I like the Mother games but that ship has sailed.
Although I would actually shit my pants if they hired Toby Fox to do it, not that I think it would necessarily be a good idea, just that seeing Nintendo hire a one man development team of a single white guy to take one of their franchises would be crazy to see.
>all these mother posts
Where the frick did you came from? That investor never asked about new mother game
Read the op moron
There's no mention of mother on OP article
Thread subject
If he gave me $40,000 I will give him a game on a par with F-Zero X/GX in a years time. He'd have to hire a separate guy for music but I'd be able to do everything else. It helps that I too want a new F-Zero.
>$40k
Wait, that's all you need? Maybe I'll do that too and ask them to never bother with another
IT'S A VIDEOGAME COMPANY THAT DOESN'T MAKE VIDEOGAMES!
That's not even a significant chunk of stock
these fricking lazy shits will do ANYTHING but make games. Fricking Hell.
They should make an F-Zero where you can pick your character and have a career mode where you can do different jobs and expand your brand doing promotional shit, work on your vehicle, etc.
>they should make a racing game into a social media simulator
that sounds so fricking gay dude
People need to learn to leave things dead. Pst 2010 you ask for ports, not continuations.
You are part of the problem otherwise.
The Mother IP is actually owned by Shigesato Itoi himself and not Nintendo, if Itoi isn't on board with a new game then it can't happen, and Itoi considers M3 to be a good finale for the franchise, so there's no need for more
Hence, a new Mother is pretty much impossible unless Itoi wants to make a new one before he kicks the bucket (unlikely)
It's very surprising to me that a corporation would let an individual own the rights to a game they developed, but apparently Itoi is some big dick celebrity in Japan so maybe it shouldn't be.
Itoi is a big dick celeb and had the advantage of making his contract with Nintendo during the 80's, when people had no idea vidya would get as big as it is nowadays, so managing to keep the rights was probably not too hard, and the man was clearly passionate about it considering how involved he was in all 3 games.
Nintendo also had shared ownership to the Characters and Games Rare created and when they were sold to Microsoft Nintendo gave them 100% ownership of their games in exchange for Nintendo getting 100% ownership of the DK and Starfox characters Rare created.
mother being a product of the 80s has nothing to do with it.
Nintendo likely let capcom has some rights to minish cap and the oracle zelda games.
platnium had shared rights over W101 and astral chain, etc.
They just rather all major parties be willing for a new project in that series.
I like the idea that there are series specific to an era in gaming and don't need to continue for the sake of it. Not all of them have to be like this but some would do just fine being 'that series was our generation', or something like that.
It's a shared ownership of the IP, something Nintendo does by choice to make sure creators hold a degree of control over their work. I really with more companies would do this however the contracts and studio ownership is completely one-sided in every media format.
This is exactly what they did with Gamefreak/Creatures Inc and Pokemon, isn't it?
The situation was a bit different but pretty much yeah. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't
What could a new mother game possibly have to offer that Deltarune doesn’t?
Speaking of which, wheen do you thing 3-5 will come out? This december?
That's just the rich people equivalent of joining the patreon of an artist to pester him into making more porn of the character you like.
>buy enough stock so that the board members will listen to his stupid shit
>they just say "thank you for your feedback"
>never make another game in that series
jesus christ dude you could have accomplished that with a tweet. for like $50 you could have paid a blue checkmark to say it to them
people are acting as if he threw his money down the drain, as if he can't liquidate that stock immediately if he wants
>Mother
>Fan favorite
