This. Its simply bad management. Nickelodeon doesn't care about anything cheap cash grabs. Even when they gave the IP to a decent studio like Platinum they didnt' give them a budget and we ended up with the half-assed Korra game. Nickelodeon is 100% at fault.
Yeah, One Piece proves that Live Action can work if the original creator is allowed to have a hand on it. Dunno how much he micro or managed, but at least he was allowed to have involvement and give input without the new crew getting pissy
The netflix op is cancer that's only liked by tasteless and moronic npcs.
>One Piece proves that Live Action can work
lol. lmao. not really my dude, it was hot garbage and i've been a longtime fan. only religious tier one piece fanatics like the live action show. and thats subtracting the obnoxious diversity background extras, its simply written amd actes horribly, especially the lead. and on top of that he has no charisma or likeability that makes me want to root for him
>a decent studio like Platinum
>watching fake anime
>watching real anime
>watching westoid media
there isn't really any major difference between western and japanese media anymore, both have homosexuals out the wazoo and both enforced left wing beliefs in their audiences.
There's still some pushback from East Asians
Compared to the west with all their guns and protests yet they do nothing
Avatar shits on 90% of your Shonen copy paste high school harem isekai bonerslop
It's not even funny how bad it mogs most anime
It's a good show but let's not get too far
he's right tho
He really isn't
Unless you're working with the corollary that the most of everything will logically be crap, therefore he's making a meaningless statement because it says nothing about anime itself, it's just stating how Avatar is a good show and therefore in the small minority of high quality of its group
Sure, it's "better than most anime" but it's also better than most films, most tv shows, most videogames most books, most coffee tables, most vintage coins... and so on
>sure it's "better than most anime"
The rest is cope
I accept your concession
>that's what he said
He said "mogs most anime"
Maybe you should learn to read before criticizing others, hmmm?
It remains meaningless as a statement
Concession?
You said I was technically right anyways.
Sorry for you and anime's loss.
>You said I was technically right anyways.
Sad to see the slow disappearance of reading comprehension in the country's youth
Sad to see what smug, contrarian intellectualism will do to a teenager.
>contrarian
What? Anime is more popular than never
If anything you're being a contrarian
Contrarian as in stubbornly backing a premise with sophistry
That's not at all what being a contrarian means
But by that statement you are agreeing it is a contributing factor towards being a contrarian
I'm not tho. Being a contrarian is going against a majority held opinion, it has nothing to do with stubbornness
Not that anon but holy hell you're one moronic and pathetic pseudo-intellectual, lmao.
I'm sorry big words scare you so, anon
>Most people agree that ATLA is better written than most anime, regardless of how popular anime is.
They don't however, but I look forward to hearing you next cope
>Anime is more popular
Most people agree that ATLA is better written than most anime, regardless of how popular anime is.
The fact that you seriously don't see how much of a controrian moron you are is embarrassing as hell.
>Shonen copy paste high school harem isekai bonerslop
that's what he said, he didn't said that was better than everything else, you should work more on your reading skills
That's exactly far enough, I'm honestly being generous
It's a good show, it's not the best show, but it is a million times better than some bonershit japslop
See
>uhhh its better than most everything
>so not anime specifically but yes anime
Lmao Poindexter
Avatar certain destroys 95% of animes that come out a season, especially these days
lol yes. I bet you unironically enjoy fate or that gay ass hamster chan show
Can you name some shonen that you think is better? Genuinely curios.
FMA
The claim was about all anime
I could make a lot more if I could just cut off at some point, but shonen tends to overstays it's welcome a lot
As it is, I'd Say Mob Psycho
lol
no
anti-sex tumblroid only likes safe shit
I really feel like the people who think like this are just morons who never bothered to watch the show and just dismissed it because it's le kids show.
(ironic since they're clearly wapanese gays shilling japanese cartoons)
>seethes about anime in an anime forum in a thread about an anime-inspired cartoon
Whew lad
They seethe because they will never EVER be japanese.
It's sad.
>no argument
I accept your seething concession.
>they will never EVER be japanese.
And neither will you, and unlike you, I'm not a wapanese homosexual so I'm not malding over it, lol
>Couldn't even see the argument
Whew lad2

Yeah, you lost hard. You're a pathetic moron, lmao.
>no u
>still not seeing the argument
>seething about the correct samegayging accusation
>calls wew lad reddit after using it
>and now some extra seething on regular text
Sad!
It's good for American Saturday morning cartoons but come on. And Korra drags down the og.
Korra as a character works, the problem is that her scripts are wack because she didn't have an overall goal like Aang. Villan of the arc is worse than a single bad guy that's the endgame.
Her series should, at least, 100% be about her mastering spirit bending, picking up the torch from Aang. Maybe you could do it so she looses her bending like she did, realizes she still has connections to the spirit realm and after reciving some limited guidance by Aang and Iroh, learns spiritbending to slowly pick herself up.
It really isn't.
Avatar is a cartoon that resents all aspects of what it is, but also lacks any real skill in other capacities like writing or boarding.
It doesn't nothing even remotely well as a piece of animated media. There's one episode that attempts to have some flavor in its composition (the one everyone hates), and one episode uses greyscale, the finale has a scene that's letterboxed, but the vast majority of the time it is sterile. It has bouts of good animation, but the good animation is just good animation- it's never composed in an interesting way or used to push a potential viewer into thinking about the choreography or the current narrative and how it may be expressed through these scenes.
The animation also belays an issue with its 'anime inspiration'- in that its shallow. The anime inspiration only goes so far as the aesthetic, but it doesn't pick up on any anime techniques, there's no Tezuka, Dezaki, Tomino, etc. in here. Maybe some surface level Miyazaki, but that's really it, and it could easily be confused for a typical Korean cartoon instead.
As for writing, it just isn't that good. The first season is mostly just comedic episodes with the few serious ones honestly being jarring- you go from an episode about how dumb groupthink is and its resolved through a convenient lie, and a few episodes later the antagonist plot to kill the moon. With a Chinese inspired fish, connected to a Japanese tale, in a setting evoking native American tribes (people praising this show for how it depicts cultures are also moronic by the way).
This reaches a breaking point in the "Zuko Redemption" episodes where, I shit you not, this is the order of events.
>Zuko joins, Katara tells him not do anything to Aang or she'll kill him
>Next episode
>Zuko can't firebend so he needs to take Aang somewhere secluded and far away, and nobody can come with him
And she doesn't say anything! Her Zuko episode isn't even until 3 episodes later!
Complete garbagefire.
You have a real talent for using a lot of words to say nothing.
I actually said a lot. You're just upset.
yeah, a lot of nothing
all the delusional weebs in the replies
>all that shonengay cope in the replies
SAD
What happened this time?
another garbage game is on the way
Is there even a single good one out there?
No
I remember there was a third-person fighting flash game where you could kinda create a bender (all 4 elements) and then join different battles like 4 player FFA. That was genuine fun until you realize that you can equip items on your character which makes everyone ridiculously overpowered.
Can't remember what it was called thoughbeit.
There's one :^)
Competitive Multiplayer fightan announced.
Literally nothing has gone right for ATLA since the original series ended
Fricking kek this. It's like the original was a huge fluke because even with the creators involved everything else has been shit.
Korra wasn't THAT bad
At best it's a mediocre followup that didn't need to exist. At worst, and realistically, it bastardized the setting and permanently damaged most of the main cast of the original. I'd argue that Korra is worse than most people give it credit for.
It's pretty bad. It gets a huge pass from most people because it's in the Avatar setting and it has connections to characters people love. Imagine it as it's own new IP, it would have been shat on relentlessly.
I think it's the opposite.
Korra is complete shit but it was shit on specifically because ATLA was so well received and this was a huge blemish on a beloved series that essentially killed the IP.
If ATLA wasn't such a big deal, nobody would have given a shit about Korra. This is especially the case where Korra directly shit on characters and concepts from the original series.
If everything in Korra was completely original and people did not have the context of the original series to compare it to, I think reactions would have been either ignoring it entirely or giving it credit for some of its concepts and ideas while acknowledging that they were horribly utilized.
Now that I think about it you're probably right. The bar is pretty low when it comes to western cartoons so even Korra would probably have been remembered somewhat fondly if it was its own IP. Especially now that there's so few good action cartoons.
The lead writer (some dude named Aaron) dropped off after the original series. He was the one who saved Bryke from themselves.
It’s a lot like The Elder Scrolls / Morrowind. Put Todd Howard in the same room as Kirkbride and that old guy Ken Rolston - suddenly Todd and Kirkbride don’t seem moronic.
That explains a lot. Even when Korra came out there was a lot of cope about how it was supposedly just as good as the original series, or would get better over time, but looking back now it was shit right off the bat.
Aaron can’t write good stories by himself either just look at The Dragon Prince.
Raylum and Callum were cute though but then they ruined that too also Viren did nothing wrong and the king was a fricking tard
dragon prince isn't amazing but it's a decent story that follows through with any contrivances and plot holes, it isn't ambitious and doesn't have the appeal of the stuff Bryke attempts but it never shits the bed or turns into a regrettable cringefest
>but it never shits the bed or turns into a regrettable cringefest
Did you forget the troony elf with magic farts?
I liked it a lot on the first seasons, it even actually had a justification for all the racial heterogeneity, and the main couple was adorable, but I dunno third season started falling off and I heard he newest one really sucks
For starters there's already manufactured drama between the main couple, 20 years after the world had enough of Ross and Rachel-ing
Not even the short lived Legos were good.
Why aren't they yellow?
licensed properties get accurate skin tones.
Then why are Katara and Sokka white?
because they are white.
>Eskimos
>White
>eskimos
>blue eyes
It's fantasy races, Black person
it was ruined by the mediocre sequel
the sequel was pretty good until the last season
no it wasn't
only the first season was barely acceptable
everything else was complete trash
moron opinion tbh
That whole sequel was unecessary
it's complete trash but I'm glad it exists just for the korra "art"
Its moronic. The creators themselves don't even respect their own lore and world building. No wonder none of these other adaptations do.
>The creators themselves don't even respect their own lore and world building
Not even their own core beliefs, ATLA was about industrialism bad, traditionalism good. While in ATLK the whole world went industrialism, and Korra protects said industrial society from enemies that either use industrialism as a means to get results, (amon, kuvira), or enemies that want to get rid of industrialism (vatuu, zaheer). Also the push for democracy was cringey as frick.
>Also the push for democracy was cringey as frick.
Wasn't much of a push, the democratic government and the President were weak and ineffectual, and Varrick shows how governments can be bought and the popular opinion manipulated.
It basically came down to the old "Democracy is the worst form of government except for everything else."
>Wasn't much of a push
Come the frick on now, lets make the queen an evil b***h tyrant (with the word tyrant actually used in the show to describe her) and the other family member was an equally inept rich boy. Also this royalty rich kid ultimately gives in his royalty life make way for democracy without any actual build up to it, just a "oh I won't rule because I want to sing", isn't that the most whackiest funnies character or is he not? frick yeah democracy!
Are you an unironic monarchist or something? Monarchy got portrayed as the absolute worst form of government in the show, all the rest had at least some sympathetic qualities to them. Which to be fair was true of the IRL person she was based off of, as well as many 19th century and early 20th century monarchs with any power.
But monarchy was also the only one never directly compared to monarchy. She gets murdered by anarchist, and it's shown that their rule isn't much better.
>But monarchy was also the only one never directly compared to monarchy.
Oops, I meant 'directly compared to democracy'.
The second season was the worst, not the fourth.
nah it was maybe out of place to put the final boss there but the merging with the spirit world was nice. Way better than giant robots kek
The biggest issue was how poorly Unalaq's motivations were explained. He could have easily been a 'did nothing wrong' like the other main villains of the show if they had written him better.
I agree, it seemed like they skipped that part
They portrayed him as a 'bwahahaha I'm evil' type of villain when his motivations would have worked better if he had a pure heart and was kind, but was still just as opposed to industrialism and the unceasing encroachment of modernity.
The twins were great and as their father he should have been more like them.
Based Korra enjoyer.
I do like how Korra had loving supportive parents who weren't killed off for tragedy.
And then Korra tells off her dad and calls him a bigot because he said "watch out Korra, there might be homophobes out there" when she told him they were slamming clams
I mean it is in character, she's a huge b***h
Imagine being the writter and going "yep, this one's going to be a great way to introduce the avatar" after having Aang struggling with earthbending as it was the polar opposite of his personality and also struggling with firebending as it feared it would hurt those he loved.
It's almost like part of the point was how radically different the two protagonists were. Korra loves action and violence - at least at first, before her brushes with death.
>It's almost like
have a nice day
Compelling counterargument.
Mildly better.
I don't disagree, just that 'it's almost like' is annoying reddit speak
I can't help it if some poseur on plebbit copied my writing style a decade after I started posting on Ganker. It's almost like how proper legible formatting of posts is now 'reddit spacing'.
look, people jump to things but 'reddit' too much but when you copy it into google the first thing that pops up is reddit.
And they are complaining about it. It's such an annoying way of speaking that people on reddit got sick of it years ago.
Well frick, I get the same results when I search for it; I see your point.
It appears as if language evolves over time.
Or devolves.
>Mildly better.
Stop being a homosexual
The contrast doesn't work because it goes against the very nature of what being an Avatar is.
You can't learn to bend the elements on your own soon after you stopped pooping our pants because learning how to bend the elements is done through careful study and understanding and living in the culture of the element you're supposed to bend, which makes no fricking sense if you do it as a 9 year old
How the frick is Korra gonna be the Avatar of peace and balance and harmony between the nations if she doesn't know anything about them?
Learning the elements isn't just a skill, it's a spiritual journey of learning and understanding, but I guess that's too much for the dumb homosexuals that created the Dark Avatar
When did we see so much of Roku's early life? Did I miss an episode?
He had a whole episode with him and the Fire Emperor.
Name or episode # plz?
I think it's literally that
The Avatar and the Fire Lord
Thanks Anon, I"ll go watch it and get back to you if the thread is still up.
>How the frick is Korra gonna be the Avatar of peace and balance and harmony between the nations if she doesn't know anything about them?
i mean she literally fricks everything up because she is a shitty avatar that never went on this journey, but i don't want to give the writers too much credit and say that that was intentional
>and say that that was intentional
Even if it was, it's already failing its own rules and premise by having her be able to master the elements alone
If Korra is a shit Avatar because she's a headstrong dumb bawd with no spirituality then she should be a shit Avatar, ie. can't properly master the elements
>The original was good, so for contrast we'll make this one shit
Brilliant
why are you trans?
>Just a little girl
>Already could use all four elements
Was she just a prodigy or was Aang just a moron? It seems like the Avatar instinctively or naturally is able to use all four elements and Aang had to get specific teachers for each one to learn them.
She was specifically mentioned to be a prodigy, which is partially why she was annoying as a character. Among other things.
>prodigy
Wouldn't really say prodigy, more like a novice but trained with all of them, well not air.. she also lacked alot of real combat experience. Sucked with airbending so she had to train deepthroating cocos(If you know what I mean)
>It seems like the Avatar instinctively or naturally is able to use all four elements a
It's actually the opposite
If the Avatar could learn all the elements alone at a young age then shit like that toy test the monks did with Aang would've been unnecessary
Roku is like 16 when he's told he's the Avatar and needs to go on peregrination to the four corners and visit every nation to learn their bending
Also I'm like 70% sure they at some point mention that it takes "a lifetime" to master all the elements and Aang needs to hurry the frick up before they don't have the time
Korra is just a moronic show, man
>shows her bending every element to demonstrate she's a prodigy at a young age
>does a timeskip
literally just make her bend water really well
no reason to make her bend 3 of the elements
doesn't stop the fact Korra was a complete jobber too
it was ruined the second they fricked up amon
>oh he's actually just a salty bender, nothing he said or did matters so all the non-benders can frick off now even if they kinda had a point
It was an excellent twist; the problem was the Equalist movement evaporating entirely after that even though they still had other leaders and most of their issues aside from representation were never addressed.
>It was an excellent twist
It wasn't really. It just ruins his character because Amon didn't exist, it was just some other guy, so literally everything he ever did or said can now be ignored and we're stuck with this maybe arachnophobic guy who was secretly a giant spider
Also, blood bending without a full moon is super moronic
Brainlet take. Him using bloodbending instead of the force does not change anything he said. The problem with Amon is not that he could bend, it's that the show never even bothers trying to address his claims (which wouldn't have been difficult). Then he gets beat and dies and his movement just vanishes even though the actual problem was never even remotely addressed.
>Him using bloodbending instead of the force does not change anything he said
It does
Starting with how shit it is for the previously established rules.
>The problem with Amon is not that he could bend, it's that the show never even bothers trying to address his claims
I don't disagree. If he was a self-hating bender and that was explored it would've bem interesting, but he's revealed as a bender and you're never told if he actually believed what he spouted or was it just a play for power
I'd still contend that his fabricated backstory would've been more interesting and better for the overall themes discussing the conflicts of benders vs non benders, however
>It does
No it doesn't. His movement was rooted in the idea that bending in and of itsellf created power imbalances leading to near constant warfare and tyranny against non-benders during peace. Not one character in the entire series ever even attempts to contradict his arguments, even though it would not even be hard.
>Starting with how shit it is for the previously established rules.
Being able to bloodbend with nonrestrictions is fricking broken, don't get me wrong, but also obviously not what I was talking about. Changing the story so he only took bending on full moon nights would not fix the actual problem, which is that his goals and motivations went completely unaddressed.
>and you're never told if he actually believed what he spouted
He still hadn't given up even after having been beaten, which is why his brother killed them: he knew his conviction was unwavering.
>I'd still contend that his fabricated backstory would've been more interesting and better for the overall themes discussing the conflicts of benders vs non benders, however
Fair enough.
>His movement was rooted in the idea that bending in and of itsellf created power imbalances leading to near constant warfare and tyranny against non-benders during peace
Which is an argument weakened by the industrialization of the new show and the incorporation of bending in everyday life. Like, the gap has never been smaller, which granted might be a factor. But more on that later.
>Being able to bloodbend with nonrestrictions is fricking broken,
It's not just that. It's the recurring problem of how Korra ignores all the spiritual stuff in favor of some Hollywood bullshit. Water bending comes from the Moon Spirit, the Full Moon is a physical manifestation of the hight of the power of the spirit, that's why they could blood bend, because it's a very difficult thing that requires an amount of power and control that Isn't possible under normal circumstances. It's like how the meteor made the firebenders OP, it's the changes in nature bringing changes in the spiritual which bring changes in the material
It wasn't a better super power that Evil Guy can be born with to pass to his sons
>Changing the story so he only took bending on full moon nights would not fix the actual problem, which is that his goals and motivations went completely unaddressed.
But the blood bending itself is a problem, specially because it was unnecessary. Skilled non benders were a big deal in the OG. Zuko was maybe deadlier with his swords than bending, Ty Lee and Mai were both huge threats to our bending heroes and so was Goth Dangerbreasts and her big lizard. With the new tech weapons we see the Equalists use, they didn't need at all to have Amon blood bend as an "explanation" to why he was so formidable
>He still hadn't given up
Was that ever said? I mostly figured Tarrlok had a change of heart after what he went through and realized both him and his brother ended up as irredeemable pieces of shit just like their dad and so were better off dead
>Which is an argument weakened by the industrialization of the new show and the incorporation of bending in everyday life.
Yes, you're right! I'm not saying Amon's ideology couldn't be argued against, but that it wasn't. In a properly written version of this season, someone would have done it at some point.
The bloodbending was not why he was formidable. He barely used it in combat. Instead mostly letting his militiamen do the work. Bloodbending was important because it was how he crippled benders. I guess there could have been a technological explanation, but it would be a huge stretch.
>Was that ever said? I mostly figured Tarrlok had a change of heart after what he went through and realized both him and his brother ended up as irredeemable pieces of shit just like their dad and so were better off dead
I mean that's not untrue, but nothing suggests that Noatak wasn't genuine.
>In a properly written version of this season, someone would have done it at some point.
Yeah, and it's so strange that they show you all these things for no apparent reason. It's very underwritten
>The bloodbending was not why he was formidable
I dunno, some of his most impressive physical feats were implied to come from his blood bending plus
>it was how he crippled benders
I mean, if it was gonna be biological and not spiritual, could've been just a more advanced form of chi blocking, instead of just temporarily blocking them like Ty Lee, he could've found a way to permanently damaged them.
>but nothing suggests that Noatak wasn't genuine.
Nothing suggests he was too, but I thought he wasn't because of the whole deception. Again, just super underwritten, I don't understand how it got a second season
>I mean, if it was gonna be biological and not spiritual, could've been just a more advanced form of chi blocking,
It was. He used blood bending to cause actual injuries at the chi points rather than just disrupting them. Of course, it should have been Katara, who knows both hesling and bloodbending, to reverse these injuries, not Korra.
>Again, just super underwritten, I don't understand how it got a second season
It was greenlit for 48 fricking episodes even before season 1 was done. Oops.
>He used blood bending to cause actual injuries at the chi points rather than just disrupting them.
Yeah, so zero reason why it couldn't have been some super finger poking martial art or something
>it should have been Katara, who knows both hesling and bloodbending, to reverse these injuries, not Korra.
Bryke just kinda forgot about Katara
>It was greenlit for 48 fricking episodes even before season 1 was done
I wish I was am executive so my job was being a professional moron
They do the same shit with Kuvira
>territorial claims are entirely legitimate and nothing she says about the monarchy or current ruling power structure is wrong, and her establishment of an efficient dictatorship is a necessity in a destabilized nation ravaged by crime and corruption where things have spiraled out of control
>jk she's earth hitler complete with offscreen concentration camps and a gundam WMD
What is the point of writing these initially nuanced villains with legitimate grievances if you have no idea how to counter or solve the problems that led to their rise in the first place and just make them hypocritical or evil last second.
Didnt the comic (yes yes I know frick the comics) say she didnt know about those and it was some other guy?
Kuvira's biggest dumbass "we need to make her the bad guy" move was going after Republic City when she had everything else on lock
Didn't Avatar always have some problems like this such as Aang magically getting a solution to his moral conundrum for no reason
I was a moronic child back then and even Season 1 annoyed the hell out of me before Season 2 made me drop it.
Years later my sister watched the anarchy season and he was pretty cool despite how moronic he was since he was so convinced he was right.
I'm actually a bit jealous. I wish I could have enjoyed the sequel as much as I enjoyed the original, but unfortunately for me I loathed Korra and all the story arcs in it.
maybe you were too moronic back then? Try again
I only liked the third season to be honest. First season had the best ideas at least, but could've executed them a whole lot better, and it felt like they had no idea how to pace themselves for a season half the size of what ATLA had. At least they seemed to figure that out better for the second season onwards, but those have entirely different problems.
At most, I can at least respect TLOK for trying to be something fairly different and not retread much from ATLA at all, but it's a shame it dropped the ball in a bunch of places in different ways. Each season being its own self contained arc really kinda holds it back from living up to its predecessor.
the moment they started with all the lesbo shit it went to trash tier
At some point kora was getting mature then dev scratched it and made her stupid af again
>it went to trash tier
It was trash tier long before that.
The biggest problem with Korras development is looming cancelation, each book was implied to be the last so they didn't even write
Not true. After S1 all the others were greenlit. They really were just that fricking incompetent.
>the moment they started with all the lesbo shit
so the last five seconds of the series? lol
>Crashing this world building, with no survivors.
First season was okay, second was one of the worst shows I have ever watched. Third was pretty good, fourth was terrible.
Weird quality distribution in hindsight.
>Third was pretty good
You'll notice that's usually the season like more
It's also the one where Korra got crippled and beat up and cries a lot
Draw your own conclusions
Korra was only good for the porn
Prove it
1, 3, and 4 were good. 2 was laughably bad and even the hot yandere inuit twin couldn't save it.
Korra was awful from the beginning.
A terrible experience to watch AND it killed the franchise.
The sequel was decent until Amon turned out to just be a power hungry water bender.
But it was never good.
had some promise in season 1
which was immediately undermined by Korra getting everything handed to her without any spiritual or emotional growth
there was even plenty of depth in the villain
non-bender discrimination, etc.
but no
she get punched and achieves enlightenment
then they make her a lesbian
Correct. And honestly the last season was good until the finale with the dumbass mech
How come whenever we get something terrible, years down the line we always have morons going "It wasn't that bad!"?
probably because by comparison shit is even worse in the future
Because pop fiction continues to consistently get worse every year, and morons that don't read or watch anything other than pop fiction have no objective reference point for something that's actually good.
This is similar to why morons will say the SW prequel trilogy was good, because the sequels were bad and they don't watch anything else to compare it to.
The Star Wars prequels were not good but they did do a good job of expanding the lore and the world building of a series that previously had a fairly narrow focus in the films. However not only are the sequels bad in their own right as films but they are atrocious at world building as well: 95% of it was either a 1 for 1 rehash of the OT with the remaining 5% being inexplicable retcons going against established lore.
The prequels are bad, but the sequels are nect level bad.
We got Clone Wars (the series) out of the prequels at least. Nothing really came of the sequels
Also true. Very good point.
We also got a whole bunch of good video games as well. The ST didn't even give us one good one.
it didn't help that the last good star wars game came out in 2006 a year after the last prequel movie
>Starts out shit with that movie
>Somehow spirals into massive kino and cements Ahsoka as a huge character
>but they did do a good job of expanding the lore and the world building
Bah, all it did was make it worse and contrived
>wasted potential first season with an unlikeble protagonist and a complety utter garbage ending that threw away the intresting villian in exchange for ruining the lore of of the previous show
>dumpsterfire of a second season that takes a massive steaming dump on the corpse of the previous show, which it killed, literally
>ass third season that can only be redeemed by a slightly intresting villian, but still falls flat on its face because of the repercussions from the irredeemable second
>>it was good until the 4th
The 4th season is quite literally the only season that is passable as okay. Why?
>because korra is finally humbled after getting her ass almost murdered
>"villian" is actually nuanced and has a morally good goal (until they had to quickly backpedal and turn her into megahitler because people actually liked her)
>best fight scenes in the show
Even this season they threw away with the shit ending, tho
I'm STILL going to have sex with Korra and there's nothing you can do to stop me
>S1 was complete shit with a wasted concept of a villain
>S2 was so bad that it wasn't content with being shit by itself, it also had to retroactively shit on the original more than S1 could ever try
>S3 was as bad as S1 but at least it had some cool spectacle
>S4 just added the poop cherry on top of the shit cake that is Korra, with a finale made to appeal to people that wouldn't have cared otherwise since at that point the entire audience tuned out
Korra a turd
Insane that you would get that completely reversed; surely this is a troll post?
that anon is right, the first 3 seasons of korra are decent and the last one is a dumpster fire even by the show’s own low standard
nah. each season was full of issues. i enjoyed season one until the end where aang just fixed her problems
Frick no, it went to shit in season 2.
i hate how it has so many interesting concept and animated scenes only to be ruined by the writing
Water > earth > wind > fire
Lightning in a bottle. Everything good about it came from everyone involved being in the perfect mindset to make it. Now you reassemble the exact same team and they still wouldn't be able to recreate it. The guys who needed to have bad days to make something great now have good days. The guys who needed to have good days now have bad days. They aren't those people anymore. The original creators are arrogant yet jaded. The main writer is spited and unmotivated. Any new blood they bring on is similarly arrogant and desperate to project their specific vision of the series against a thousand other specific visions. They can never, ever do anything like it again.
idk why it can't get any good video games though.
sometimes things are fine as they are and shouldn't be milked.
Creating new IP is too big of a risk and therefore not profitable, so the only option is to milk existing IP until it's barren.
You only really get truly new IP from independent creators.
Martian royals own me sex
John Carter detected
>post image of woman who needs milking
Beat me to it.
This al could have been avoided if they had made Zutara canon
Still can't believe that the best avatar game is the trainer one
Will Mae Whitman reprise her role as Katara? I always found it kinda cool that her character in Alone in the Dark paid homage to Toph.
Her?
Is she really funny or something?
Yes, it was a massive fluke. Everything after the first show was a disaster.
That tends to happen when you go from universally relatable coming-of-age messaging to writers projecting justification for their own or their friends cluster B personality traits.
Most licensed games are shit, it's not exclusive to the Avatar.
Absolutely. Only the original show is good. Every game, sequel, movie, comic (that isn't just copying an actual episode) turns out dogshit. Earlier today I saw a TTRPG of it for sale, and while that seems like a natural fit, I don't doubt that it's probably shit too because of the curse
the writers went woke, and so they cursed their only franchise
lel
Avatar has always sucked.
fake anime cringe
Avatar was never that good
It's a fine show given the average quality of a kid's cartoon on Nickelodeon, but it doesn't deserve the hype it's gotten
nickelodeon hates avatar and does not want to invest into vidya. that's why their current tactic is throw their license at every vaporware developer because sometimes you get battle for bikini bottom or nick all stars.
it'll never rise above the level of random movie tie in game for some quick cash that's not very good, because the IP holders don't give a shit about it beyond making some money off random tie in game that's not very good.
western shows are doomed to shitty cashgrabs. konami and capcom are no longer there to help
literally the only good video game adaptation of ATLA is a mod
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2113039890
The great divide should be avoided.
Avatar was one of the last good things ever made. It has nothing to do with Avatar, it's the year. Avatar ended in 2008. Things made after around 2010 aren't good. The avatar movie was 2010. Korra was 2012. Of course it's not good.
Nothing good will ever be made again.
>realizing atla was good in spite of bryke and not because of them
ANON THE ADVERTISERS!

I'm 1000% sure the advertisers are salivating as much as we are anon

You gotta hand it to this show, they somehow came up with several female characters who could rival Korra as waifus, despite her being so ideal.
Why the frick does she have that globe protruding from her side?
Angle
Any franchise that's originally intended for kids, then tries to grow with his audience is forever doomed to mediocrity in it's releases and products.
Avatar at it's heart, will forever be a kids cartoon. It'll have games and content made in mind for kids first, the hardcore fans it grew with second do to the nature of how TV products work, especially on channels like Nick.
So now you've got a generation of kids turned adults who want the IP to provide more adult quality material or products, unable to come with the grips it's for kids or the quality of products made are for kids who don't have the expectations of adults.
Except none of ATLA's sequel material even approaches the level of maturity that the original show had. Sure it had a lot of comic relief that doesn't really land if you're not ten, but it also had a lot of genuinely provacative, nuanced, and understated storytelling that they've never been able to recapture. Also, Korra was specifically supposed to be an animation for older teenagers and adults who watched ATLA when they were younger, amd yet ended up being far more juvenile, despite having much more legroom to include more explicitly adult subject matters.
Fire Nation or bust.
I'll choose bust, thanks
Bust a fat nut in water tribe pussy

More like protected. Did you see what they did to Spongebob?
they released a good game?

Wrong.
i don't care about your artist autism

>EyeOfTheBeholder
What's that other one, that mostly draws everyone in more accurate skinny teenage bodies?
nobody cares
i care
It's actually quite amazing how every single time they make a Avatar game, it almost always and I mean ALWAYS, WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT turn out to be shit. The only "okay" Avatar game, unfortunately might I add is that Korra game by Platinum. Granted every single game so far has been generic action adventure slop, so maybe a fighter will be a nice change of pace. If this game flops then that just says that this IP is fricking cursed and that no one should ever make a game based on it.
>avatar
it was always shit
>left leaning IP
>it only pump pozzed uncreative uninspired videogames
yeah it must be a curse or something, you fricking moron
they should have made a pro-bending game
there's an earthbending vr game which is probably the closest we'll ever get.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/890550/RUMBLE/
That shit was moronic to be quite honest.
The Platinum Korra game's minigame of this was pretty damn good.
That game was severely underrated.
But Nickelodeon's job is to frick its IPs as much as possible except Spongebob, so we'll never get another game like it.
Aang won
*Sokka
>wasn’t ruined in the sequel like his friends
He got out while the getting was good. He absolutely won.
>lots of characters
>lots of move sets
>different chapters are campaigns
>lots of mooks to beat up
really needs to be a a musou
I hate Japanese game design
what about japanese design do you hate
I will never not feel bad for the artist/animators who worked on Korra. The show looked amazing, but the writing was just absolute dog shit. Did anyone ever get a chance to play the platinum avatar game? Was it any good? I heard it was super short.
>The only "okay" Avatar game, unfortunately might I add is that Korra game by Platinum
FINISH THAT FRICKING COMIC YOU LOW-TIER PORTUGUESE
IT'S BEEN ONGOING FOR 5 YEARS NOW
He was just getting to the good part too, I'm fricking mad
Don't worry anon, by 2032 it should be done
this looks so bad why would people pay for it? Are coomers really that moronic?
>pay
Sex with Korra.
Porka
the only thing she's good for
Shame that literally the only thing Korra has going for her is that she is super hot
That's not so bad, she has provided so much great porn I'll be forever thankful to whoever designed her
>tfw no Avatar game that plays like Sifu
It's a fun little world but Avatar isn't that great of an IP. The first show was good, albeit a little rushed feeling towards the end. It didn't need comics or sequels or anything.
people keep trying to add their take on the series, which results in changing every established thing and thus screws over the setting. It may not be a perfect show, but it is damn near it in the sense of character evolution, interactons, and responsibility.
We've had one good game.
Watched some episodes of the series a decade ago.
Is it worth it to watch it again to play the game?
>watch it again to play
It's a porn game
And?
You'll be okay
Thank you
time to find some torrent then

The series just kept getting better and better each season.
Before this thread gets nuked for being off topic, anyone know where I can pirate the korra game that they pulled from steam?
I wish I knew Platinum made it. I would have bought it before it got nuked like Transformers did. Luckily I was able to get that one before the shoah.
Yeah same. I worried that this was some licensed game worked on the b squad over there and was not worth looking into. Guess I'll keep searching around. I found something on steam unlocked but I'm not sure how legitimate that site is with their downloads.
I only made it a few episodes into TLOK's season too. For some reason the animation seemed weird to me in that season, like they changed the animators out or something. It didn't look as nice or detailed to me after the first.
So I dropped it. Other than Korra being a dyke I don't really know anything that happened after season 1. Also I feel bad for Korra that they forced her to be a sexual deviant, she could have had a nice husband and loving children and some blue haired c**t took it all away from her.
>she could have had a nice husband and loving children
Doubly so after she sees how miserable Lin is for choosing career over husband and children.
>I only made it a few episodes into TLOK's season too. For some reason the animation seemed weird to me in that season, like they changed the animators out or something
Fun fact: The first few episodes were animated by THE Studio Pierrot before they gave it back to Studio Mir after like 3 or 5 episodes
I don't know who either of those studios are or which is supposed to be good one, if either of them.
Studio Mir has always been the main studio since ATLA.
Studio Pierrot is responsible for pic related
that fight was kino
What a magical episode that was
>That punch
>Pain randomly doing an autistic yellnand goofy face
>Sonic running
>Pain getting fricking loony tunes bonked repeatedly by a rock and just keeping a stoic face during it
It did a good job of portraying the fact that Pain is just a puppeted corpse. It was also very funny
Are you saying Pierrot did the first few episodes of the show or just the first few episodes of season 2?
>Studio Pierrot
>Pierrot is renowned for several worldwide popular anime series, such as Naruto, Bleach, Tokyo Ghoul, Yu Yu Hakusho, Black Clover, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Ghost Stories, Great Teacher Onizuka and Saiyuki.
None of these are known for their great animation, and some are famous for how bad it is
>None of these are known for their great animation, and some are famous for how bad it is
Naruto and Bleach are known for their style, but Yu Yu Hakusho and Boruto are literally only known for great animation when its comes to their anime.
Ghost Stories was made to fill a time slot, which is why it looks fairly average, but Onizuka and Saiyuki are detail heavy anime that both look and animated great.
>Naruto and Bleach are known for their style
Mediocrity?
>but Yu Yu Hakusho
I only remember the tournament when the Toguros show up of having great animation
>and Boruto
Boruto looks fricking awful though
> Onizuka and Saiyuki
Haven't watched those
>Mediocrity?
They both tend to have incredibly unique storyboarding for their type of long running anime, though Naruto certainly has far less of it compared to Bleach.
>I only remember the tournament when the Toguros show up of having great animation
So you lied earlier.
>Boruto looks fricking awful though
It's literally known for having bouts of movie quality animation throughout its run. Certainly some bad episodes, but its like complaining about the episode of Dragon Ball Z where Trunks meets Goku. Yeah, no shit it looks bad, you just got all of Toei's best staff in last week.
>Haven't watched those
You haven't watched the others either.
>They both tend to have incredibly unique storyboarding for their type of long running anime
I doubt that. Can you prove what makes them unique?
>So you lied earlier
No, it's a pretty long running show. One arc with good animation doesn't mean the whole show is renowned for it
>It's literally known for having bouts of movie quality animation throughout its run.
Link me some, because everything I've ever seen looks like shit
>You haven't watched the others either.
I have. Not Boruto though
>I doubt that. Can you prove what makes them unique?
>Link me some,
>I have.
You clearly haven't or you clearly know nothing about the topic if you're going "Uh uh can I have a source please?".
Go on sakugabooru and type in whatever anime, I'm not spoonfeeding you the immediately evident. You want to start a discussion about how Pierrot is shit, and all you have is vague memories and generalizations, that's on you.
>makes claim
>won't prove it
>seethes when pressed on it
Lmao, okay guy
Because you clearly show minimal knowledge on the subject and haven't said anything beyond the names of a few shows you got from a wikipedia article.
I gave you a resource for you to go an actually research yourself. It's not my job to spoonfeed and fix your empty argument.
>Because you clearly show minimal knowledge on the subject and haven't said anything beyond the names of a few shows you got from a wikipedia article.
Yes anon, because that's the quote from Wikipedia which I got. I can edit Wikipedia if that is making you mad for some reason
>It's not my job to spoonfeed and fix your empty argument.
And it's not mine to prove your claim for you. You can either do it yourself of continue to seethe
>And it's not mine to prove your claim for you.
Coincidentally, the resource I provided also proves my claim.
Here, you can get started
https://sakugabooru.com/post?tags=naruto
>seethes about how he doesn't have to prove his claims
>tries to do it anyway
Lmao, not being a huge homosexual was always an option
Also, that link is for Naruto, not Boruto
moron
homosexual
Naruto is one of those where when the animation is bad it fricking sucks, but when it's good it's absolutely stellar
Shame it's only good for 3% of its runtime and that's being generous
It was never going to have successful, decent quality games. It's entire run was during the hell era of shovelware licenseslop, There hasn't been a decent licensed title for any (non-anime) property I can think of since at least 2005.
Been all downhill since Crossroads of Destiny for ATLA
What do vee think of the upcoming show?
>inb4 shitflix
Atleast the trailers are promising this time.
After the creators left, each news has been worrying.
I'm still gonna pirate it but I am not hopeful for anything.
Are you a masochist sir?
I heard the original creators were gonna make it far worse. Like they looked at their old work and wanted to rework it because they didn't like some things about it. Sometimes creators just forget what made their old shit good, so maybe we dodged a bullet? I still don't have faith in anything live action, but it at least looks ok.
Now I'm curious.
Hopefully they expand on that sometime, if they're even allowed to.
It's tough because they have definitely tried to ruin the series with everything after the end of the initial series (all the comics, novellas, korra in its entirety, etc) so I don't doubt this, but netflix is rife with people constantly trying to take control of every project and push out original creators. We saw this a lot with one piece, Oda said that the first like 3 months on staff he was being constantly nagged to make changes, and only when he refused to relent did they actually give him the control he should have had from the ground up.
Everyone knows how the witcher show went
Everyone knows how netflix handles most of it's originals, this isn't anything new.
It could be anyone's fault, but the fact of the matter is everything we hear about it lessens my interest.
>We removed a lot of that, you know, silly stuff, like stopping to chase down koi fish and stuff. Aang is tasked with some serious stuff, and we want to focus more on that.
Actual quote from them, btw, where they also said they're doing a flashback to gyatso defending the air temple, completely defeating the point of the scene and how brutal it's supposed to be.
>ATLA finale has Aang struggling with killing Ozai as it goes against his Airbender culture
>Netflix version will immediately show an Airbender killing dozens of soldiers in a cool action scene
kek, can’t wait to see how they square that with the finale
If you think they'll give him the credit he's due with that fricking mountain of skeletons in the temple, you're frickin delusional, they're gonna have him fight off two people and do shitty CGI flips all around like he's fricking yoda, then get domed.
he’ll probably make a giant vacuum to suffocate all the soldiers, but kill himself in the process
I always assumed that was what happened in the cartoon anyway
someone on Ganker posted that twitter screencap about how if atla was released today with no changes chuds would call it woke, i argued that chuds would probably like it if it's written like a show from 20 years ago unashamedly since every modern writer in the industry looks back on the 00s with shame and embarrassment and is glad to have thrown most of their writing conventions and tropes from that time into the wastebin. if the writers of atla honestly did try to go back in and rewrite the show for modern sensibilities and had to part ways with netflix because even they of all people thought that the changes were going too far, then i feel my argument was entirely justified and correct.
what the frick kind of "modern sensibilities" would avatar be rewritten under?
on a podcast a few years ago, they said that they're blown away that fans consider atla a perfect show since there is so much that they'd fix if given the chance.
one of the major changes we've seen the netflix adaption go through with is making sokka not sexist, which kinda defeats the point of his character arc, but sexism is never acceptable ever and they should just do better from the start i guess.
>muh sexins
good thing they'll never be able to ruin the original
This is the problem. They're just bad writers. It's not even necessarily woke writing that's the problem since ATLA was full of it and it was extremely on the nose. They simply cannot write well regardless of what message they are trying to push.
It's almost funny how often writers seems to be sociopaths that cannot comprehend how to convey things when that is literally their job.
All the women look ugly as sin.
'ate the avatar
'ate Zuko
simple as
Fire benders should be Ganker as frick. All that heat should give them a fast metabolism. Fat ugly firebenders; 0/10 would not pirate.
Would buy her dumplings.
>'ate Zuko
Lies.
If zuko got into bed with her right when she lied back down, she would have lost all the front she was putting up right then and there kek
You JUST know
homosexual
>how do we defeat the avatar?
>its simple, we eat the avatar
spoon faced
'ate turtleduck dumplins
'ate armadillo bear meatloaf
'ate tigerdillo flank steak
'ate badgerfrog legs
'ate sand shark fin soup
and then she put on weight
I can already see the cheesy scene of her having a feast then quickly switching to Zuko who has to survive eating scraps and steal to get by in the earth kingdom as a fugitive so the audience sympathizes with him.
Is that the same girl from Gran Torino?
>Atleast the trailers are promising this time.
No, they show that the showrunners are clumsy morons and don't understand the original work. And of course it was going to turn out this way. It's netflix. They can't do anything right.
katara and azula aren't hot enough so I don't care
The only one who looks okay is Aang, Ozai, and Jin. But they are already setting it up to be a feminist shitshow with focus being on the women. Azula and Zuko look like trash too.
I'm starting to understand why Shyamalan explicitly made them different races.
Is this show so cheap they couldn't afford blue contact lenses for the waterbenders?
they probably thought clothes colors were good enough and if somebody could bend they'd show it on screen
Anon, the main premise of this show was that it's going to be a "non-whitewashed live action remake of atla".
Yeah, that means show accurate dark skin and blue eyes instead of light skin. Not 'make everyone indistinguishably oriental'.
Best couple.
When did this happen? She doesn't reveal her new sexuality until the final seconds of the show.
In the canon post-show comics
Which were made to address just how terribly written and rushed the ending reveal was
>made to address just how terribly written and rushed the ending reveal was
Yet all I've heard about those comics is how terribly written they are.
At least they made Korra the butthole and not her dad.
>Yet all I've heard about those comics is how terribly written they are.
And you would be correct
What is missing from that description is how awful the art also is
How dispiriting.
No, but now I want to see it.
This is one of the better pages
>2nd panel
So when did the explosion element become a thing?
Was this due to the spiritual convergence or whatever the shitshow that happened at the end of S2 was called?
>At least they made Korra the butthole and not her dad.
No, they try to paint her as in the right since he looks sad about it, stumbles on his own words when she's calling him a bigot, and then Korra storms out and apologizes to Asami "for her parents"
It's as well written as the cartoon, as you can tell
>Yet all I've heard about those comics is how terribly written they are.
And they are
I said that they were made to address the complaints, not that they were good at it
>Water Tribe people don’t have blue eyes
>Sokka isn’t a lady’s man
>many great moments and characters are being cut to fit the story into 8 episodes
My expectations are low.
also
>Katara isn't allowed to be seen doing shit like fixing their clothing despite the entire point being that water tribe culture forces women into these roles and Katara specifically and successfully pushes against these things while maintaining a motherly role for the gang
>Sokka is the same with masculinity where he overcompensates and acts overly chauvinistic but, while getting repeatedly humbled by several women, is genuinely competent, smart, emotionally supportive and acts as a father/big brother for the gang.
It's genuinely hilarious that they are handed probably the easiest IP to maintain a very "gender role/sexism bad" message and are purposefully throwing it away because "no it's still sexist even if the whole point is that these things are wrong!" You couldn't be this incompetent even if you tried.
is the same with masculinity where he overcompensates and acts overly chauvinistic but, while getting repeatedly humbled by several women, is genuinely competent, smart, emotionally supportive and acts as a father/big brother for the gang.
Also swings mad dick
One of those bastards from Toph is probably his
You just know in the best case scenario they're going to butcher the atmosphere in the blue spirit episode(best episode in that season) real bad and in the worst case scenario, they're going to skip it.
I just can't be fricked. Live action will always be inferior to animation in every way. It's like asking me to listen to my favorite album played through shitty gas station ear buds for a "new experience", I'd rather just not, there's no value there. I have the original series on my computer right now, I'll probably just binge it again soon.
>the trailers are promising this time
What planet do you live in
The only good thing about it is the casting of the Fire Lord because he very much fits the bill, everything else looks worse
>couldn't even be bothered to make Katara's eyes blue
It's 100% confirmed dogshit.
Why is HP Lovecraft there on the right holding an axe?
He spotted non whites
Water tribe girls are fire tribe men property
>Korra about to be abducted and locked in a rape dungeon
Diamonds.
All they had to do to preserve the franchise forever was a full on explicit episode of Korra in the rape dungeon
If only this talented Black person wasn't a Black person
How bad is it? I just need a good, quick fap
It's bare-bones and incomplete with gameplay that's bad
You're better off looking for the gallery on exhentai
The problem is that it's really short and obviously a demo, and the artist has made a vow that he won't post any updates on it until it's completely finished but that was years ago.
Well frick, another Akabur in the making. Thanks for the heads up anyways anons
Well there's also cummy bender
That's a lot of milk
>and the artist has made a vow that he won't post any updates on it until it's completely finished
Did he? That fricker can't even maintain his other porn game right
He probably forgot this one existed
Does she actually get raped though? I'm not playing it otherwise
you can just look up the galleries on ehentai

i think they want it on Ganker

Ever since they let tumblr write the sequel and prequel yeah
Hollywood cant touch anything without "putting their own personal spin on it."
And they're all moronic old israelites, so they think a childrens show needs to be dumbed down, and have zero respect for eastern cultures, or any cultures that aren't semitic.
The final boss of that Kora game was pretty cool in concept, the game was basically a PS2 era game that would've been great
THEN ONE DAY
FOR NO REASON
FOR NO REASON AT ALL
WITHOUT ANY APPARENT CAUSE
WITH NO DISCERNABLE MOTIVATION
WITHOUT ANY SORT OF PROBABLE CAUSE
WHILE COMPLETELY LACKING ANY KIND OF JUSTIFICATION
the fire nation attacked
We literally live in a world where nations have and will start wars for no discernable reason, at least on the surface.
>want to be god emperor of the world
>Live in setting where the world periodically reincarnates elemental Jesus
>Jesus will break your ass if you try to be a maniacal ruler
>Jesus' reincarnation mechanics are well-known and heavily telegraphed
>Abuse Jesus' reincarnation mechanics to become god emperor
The justification seems clear enough to me tbh.
Sozin wasn't into the idea of getting clowned on by another Kyoshi.
Will you buy the fighting game knowing that the previous project of the devs was another fighting game that was kickstarted and didn't deliver the goal everyone aactually paid for?
Are you moronic? Mane6 has completely dissolved, they are gone (apart from 2 left who are only there to finish whats left). none of them are working on this
That's even worse, now it's all suits no talent
Mane6 had 0 talent since their first Publisher giving up with their dogshit work ethic
Modus actually helped the game stay afloat for a little longer but the main problem were the devs, not the publishers.
It's because Nick is incompetent and cheap.
It is for some fricking reason. Kinda nuts how not a single fricking thing to come after it has managed to even remotely understand what it was going for.
Oh heu stealth Avatar thread. So we can all agree Suyin is the absolute worst character right?
Every character from Korra is the worst character.
>Blocks your path
>Gets away with everything and scores a cutie wife
Based
i mean, he was the charming rogue archetype. did you expect anything else?
they truly were the only redeeming part of that shitshow
All of the characters from Korra are cancer.
The romance was the absolute worst aspect of korra
What the frick were they thinking?
That by that point the only people watching were teenage and pre-teen girls that would eat it up. They were right. I've never seen a single person defend or claim to like Korra that wasn't a female between the ages of like 10 and 16 when it aired.
The vast majority of females like dick though so it seems strange to me that they would be happy to see a character they identify with dykified.
Being gay is fashionable, and has been since before Korra aired. Women love that shit. They also enjoyed the weird love triangle shit.
Women love dick too though. Despite what twitter would have you believe most women find other women sexually repulsive.
I feel bad for Mako
>Named after Iroh's VA
>Hooked up with rich hottie and the fricking Avatar
>Fumbles so fricking hard they nonsensically end up becoming dykes for each other despite Asami having multiple reasons to dislike Korra
>introduced as an ambitious fighter aiming for riches and fame, cool hair and looks, women fall for him left and right
>second season while he's no longer a famous fighter, he's a cop and loves his job
>third season he's the avatar's bodyguard
>fourth season he's left without his cool looks, hair down, without high goals in life, without the job he loves, without his red scarf, without a girl on his side, everyone gained something but him
he's the deconstructed man
Romance tumour is always for farming engagement off tween girls and shipping fanfic writers (so actually just tween girls again).
It's honestly amazing how pretty much everything that Korra did as a series was terrible.
>turned the setting from an ancient asian world into a westernized industrial world
>turned bending from a martial art into a super power that requires no training
>all of the bending subskills have been stripped of the all the elements that made them balanced or interesting
>the avatar is a carpet spirit and the original avatar was some psychopathic moron
And I think the worst one is
>random people from the earth kingdom are magically gifted with air bending, which removes pretty much all of the consequences of the air nomads genocide and fricking up the "last airbender" title
people from the earth kingdom are magically gifted with air bending
Wait, this happened? Isn't earth the exact opposite element as air? I would think earth kingdom would be the last ones to inherit airbending if you were going to do such a thing.
apparently once every 10,000 years spriritual mumbo jumbo happens, and if any elements of benders are genocided a bunch of random people will end up being able to use that elements because balance of some shit
It's especially moronic because ATLA explicitly worldbuilds around people learning bending from animals and the natural world
You could've done something cool with "new-age airbenders" reinventing airbending in its most natural form from scratch, and instead they just asspull a bunch of people becoming masters overnight because frick it.
nobody becomes a master overnight, most of them create weak uncontrolled gusts of air and they’re shown to have a hard time picking it up. only Zaheer is super good at it and he happened to be a proficient martial artist already and studied air bending masters extensively as a nonbender
there’s no evidence it was limited to people of the earth kingdom, that’s just the only area the show showed us. it was however limited to non-benders, no bender had their own bending overridden by air, and the earth kingdom geographically made up the most of the map so that’s what we saw in the show
bending from a martial art into a super power that requires no training
It also stripped it of any cultural and visual identity
In the original, each style was based of a distinct martial art, and it's look was enough to visually inform you of the element it used, like how Earthbending was Hung Ga, with its strong stances and use of powerful looking techniques like the tiger claw
Now everything looks like muddled garbage
I can fix it with two decisions immediately
>bolin + korra
>mako + asami
Stick with that dynamic for LITERALLY the entire show and it's unironically fine
They will actually feel like characters who care about eachother and a team
Even beyond the dumb love triangle drama this characters just kinda feel like nothing though.
I think that's the fundamental problem. These shitters barely have anything in common to begin with, there are no interesting mechanics between them and half of them are barely even relevant to the plot of the first season.
They're a couple of kids that played in the same dodgeball team. Their clique emerged out of pure happenstance.
The new gang is just worse versions than the previous one
>Bolin is a less funny, dumber and less charming Sokka
>Mako is basically a sketch of Zuko, brooding with zero personality
>Asami is... there
>Never watched the shitty movie
>Never read the shitty followup comics
>Never watched the shitty sequel, Legend of Korra
>Never played any of the shitty video games
>Not going to watch the shit israeliteflix live action series
If only I could have your ignorance and I mean every word
I won't watch the Black personflix series though, I can only take being beat down for so long
The flash games were fun THOUGH
At this point, it's a miracle that ATLA ended up being as good as it was. Every time they do something new they somehow drag the franchise to a new low.
>people saying Korra sucked like the Zaheer arc didn’t exist
fricking losers lol
You're right anon, Zaheer definitely pushed it over from bad to awful. Thanks for the reminder.
he’s a top 4 cool character from the entire ATLA universe
>random evil guy just so happens to be gifted with air-bending which is the entire reason for why he's a threat
>doesn't even interact with the main character up until the 9th episode (out of 13)
>is just a pseudo-philosophical moron whose plan makes no sense
>korragays unironically consider this to be a "good" character
How much a deluded and tasteless moron do you have to be to think like this?
>random evil guy
you revealed you completely missed the point of the plot by the 2nd word of your tasteless rant, way to go
the only good thing about that arc was water tentacle mommy
Literally nothing on the planet has been made better by Henry Rollins existence
Boom, headshot!
>encase her head in metal
>don't just dome the frick out of her with a rock
I get what they were going for as far as "rule of cool" goes, but there was just no good will left at that point.
That actually raises the question of how fast an earthbender can throw a rock
If it's fast enough, one with good aim could probably just David'd everyone in medium range
the smaller the rock the faster the throw, its been done in atla, I don't know why it wasn't used much more in atlk
How long until a metalbender learns how to shoot bullets?
That sounds like way too good of an idea.
>David'd everyone in medium range
or better yet
>fill opponent's lungs with rock dust
>they shriek and writhe in pain as they asphyxiate
>if they survive they'll still develop COPD, emphysema, or something
Why did they have a female version of Sparky Sparky Boom Man anyway? They still never explained anything about the eye tattoos.
It was explained in one of the Yang-Chen novels. Basically the villain was trying to discover new bending techniques by forcing unusual and extreme conditions on different benders on a deserted island.
If I remember right the combustion ability manifested when she tied fire-benders to a stake in the ocean with barely enough length to breath and told them to blow-up these targets at a distance or drown.
Sounds really dumb
That's moronic.
Why can't shit be unique? I liked it when it was implied that guy was one of kind or at least one of a few
Azula and the Fire Lord being the only ones with blue flame was cool too
The problem with the series is that Avatar and the first season of Korra went like this:
First two episodes: Establishes lore
Huge chunk of the middle episodes: Filler, some progress but mostly filler
Final two episodes: oh shit we gotta wrap up the story, cram everything into the last 30 minutes.
>some progress
That's a convenient way to write out most of the progress. The ending of book 1, 2 and 3 are all final battles taking place in specific areas. Of course they do not encompass the entirety of each book but the books still lead up to them and obviously, the middle episodes are also Aang learning each element.
Book 2 is a great example, everything up to the capture of Ba Sing Se is learning about the city and about Azula leading to Azula capturing it. Sprinkled in there is also plenty about Zuko's own growth as well as establishing Toph.
platinum's korra game had potential but it was let down by being too small, too repetitive, and ultimately a superficial button masher. still, it was a step in the right direction.
Viacom (which I just found out got merged into Paramount and CBS what the frick lmao) got lucky with the first avatar and then the ~~*bean counters*~~ tried to recreate it as soulless as possible.
pic unrelated
Occult reasons, as with many other stories.
It appears to be deliberately dying.
Reminder that all these characters you're jerking off to are like 12 to 14 years old
I think only Aang is 12 everyone else is 14 to 16
>inb4 toph
Toph is blind and therefore ages differently
But Anon that's what makes it so good
good
Yes, and?
https://vocaroo.com/1nqUX2fM0VTd
Katara is 14
Good thing that picture is a traced adult woman's body.
Proof
I don't have the actual reference he traced, and Anaxus never admits to tracing, but anyone with eyes can tell he traces a real model's body and slaps the cartoon head on top.
Wait, I thought tracing was copying another artists work, the term coming from literally putting another's artwork on a table and then tracing it in a paper above it
What wrong with doing it with actual pictures? It's not that different from using models posing
Most times it looks like shit, other times it looks okay at best. Either way the artist is being lazy.
But that wasn't the point, Anon asked for proof that it was an adult woman being traced and I posted my reply.
>Most times it looks like shit, other times it looks okay at best
I dunno, I think it looks good, but to u're right in that if you pay attention you can see a discrepancy
>Anon asked for proof
That was me. I wasn't seriously asking for proof, I assumed you'd have a picture of a scantily clad woman for comparison
hot
Incest is bad, Sokka
And stupid too, especially when there are smoking hot fire girls to pick from.
That doesn't sound like her at all
Blame ElevenLabs then, Yoshi. That thing was generated when it was still free and popular around here.
>strike gold with ATLA
>completely botch the potential of Korra by not having a clear vision (the original show has beat the fire nation and fire lord while learning all the elements while helping people like an Avatar would, simple but effective), and making most of its side characters purposeless
>ruin the mystique of the Avatar by making it a person whose soul is tied with a kite
>release comics that retroactively make characters gay, or worse, cucks like Zuko
>release cash in games that are made with a low budget for the sake of nostalgia
>get a show with Netflix, walk out because somehow their writers are even worse than the old writers even after all this
Just kill off the series. It doesn't need to exist anymore.
BRAVE SOLDIER BOY, COMES MARCHING HOME.
God damn it. Father/son stuff hits too hard.
>mfw
Well, he didn't sing it that loud
still not a single good game
REMINDER
I wish companies would stop trying to make franchises out of media that it's clearly meant to be self contained
>Fighting Herds died for this
Fricking hell why did M6 get shafted so hard
If I were on the Avatar universe I'd train the frick of whatever bending I had so I could go on a raping spree and impregnate all fire bawds on sight.
katara can be annoying personality wise but I do find her attractive
She's 12 years old, of course you find her annoying yet attractive.
kek
did anyone else catch all the seething for katara having a wedding collar?
post it
Will never be anime.
And that’s a good thing.
Arent the horse fighting game devs making this? Yeah no thanks
Don't shit on Korra near me, she's sex incarnate
You're not wrong, but her show is ass and no amount of tumblina ramblings will change my mind.
>nick killed slap city and its developer's reputation
>now they're gonna do the same with the TFH guys
lol that's sad
Just the fact that it's owned by Nickelodeon which is run by people that can't fathom the idea of what to do with any IP that isn't aimed at toddlers or making Spongebob levels of cash
>The next avatar will only have Korra to ask for advice
Poor thing
>the avatar state for the next guy is basically a debuff since all experience he has to pull from is Korra
Honestly that would be an interesting development
Four Elements Trainer kinda sucked but it had a couple good scenes.
Name one thing from this IP after the original series where you can tell they actually tried to make it good. The only thing that comes to mind is that one flash game where you can make your own bender
>they actually tried to make it good
I think they tried to make Korra good and the writers are simply mentally ill sociopaths which is why so much of it comes off horribly. They don't know how to intentionally write characters to be likeable because they themselves aren't likeable.
Reminder that Kyoshi is gay
>reminder that the other Avatars that got some semblance of characterization were already engaged in a canon relationship and for the other two that didn't, Kiyoshi lost the coin toss
FTFY
God, it's just so funny, Bryke pulled a JK Rowling on their work
Yeah, gay for my dick
Kyoshi has big smelly feet.
Bi like all women.
Short hair Korra >>> long hair Korra
Sokka in his fire nation swordsman attire while training with his sensei was top tier peak for the character. I wish he had kept the outfit/look, granted it's kind of stupid I guess since he's water nation and has water nation pride.
It was nice knowing he lived a long life and did a lot of good for the water tribe/people, kind of sad that Sokka was the first to die after Aang passed. Katara, Toph, and Zuko all were still alive despite being decripate, frankly Zuko looked the best for his age, probably the perks of being fire lord and royal blood.
>instantly loses space sword like a moron
Frick I'm still mad
A blessing in disguise, he walked away with the least damage done to his reputation.
Feels bad to say it but this is probably the best piece(or least bad) of Avatar media since the series.
KINO
No. moronic.
>r-moronic
Why?
The way they handled Amon at the end was moronic. Simple as.
>Korra thread reaches bump limit
/aco/ bros we are back
not a korra thread.
Good thread
