Is this really the final boxart? I know it's a reference to the original boxart, but it looks terrible with the new models.

No it doesn't.
It looks really incomplete, the old ones looked great, this one doesnt
Yeah it doesn’t look as as appealing as the super famicom boxart.
The original has an actual background, this is bland as frick
The only version that matters.
That's not the original.
>game has 2 boxes
>pick the worst one to replicate
Its still an official box and a way better one
The JP one is better.
The Jap box art fricking sucks. A very rare instance of the US being better.
I disagree
PLEASE kys
cope
>removes geno and mallow
soulless
>floating renders on a blank background
this is what you call soul? Its cool not to show mallow and geno, they're new characters and a good surprise. Spoiling the entire party is stupid.
It would be cool to have them on a cover if the cover wasn't just awkward renders. Kingdom Hearts had it right where its nice art showing off the various characters, some party members some not. I think it steals some of the game identity not to show mallow and geno but the way they did it was lazy and if it came out originally today people would say it was soulless
One of the few examples where the EN box art actually has more soul than the JP.
japanese company, millenifat
They both suck, I wish they made a new cover based on the title screen. The sideways characters thing is gay.
I love the image of Exor in the castle, such an iconic image showing how mario has been invaded by FF
i wished nintendo and square have a better relationship so we can get FF x Nintendo kingdom heart like game
I hope SE takes advantage of the game now at least and makes cool Geno stuff like a figuarts
SOVL
This is even worse than your usual soullessness. This is manipulative soullessness. On top of it being false advertising in leading people to believe that Yoshi is playable, Nintendo was doing that pretentious "slap a recognizable character/symbol onto a blank background and people will still buy it in droves" marketing technique. It's insulting to have such a low opinion of your audience that you can put the most minimal effort possible into trying to entice them as if to say that they're such hot shit that they don't even need to explain themselves. The whole attitude of "I can literally put a piece of shit on the cover and if it has our seal it will sell like hotcakes" mentality absolutely repulses me. Not only does the NA version have more effort but it comes across as all the more passionate and humble of the two, recognizing its place in that it should try to entice people and grab their attention.
Over 25 years ago you needed every marketing edge you could get with video games, people couldn't just google its metacritic score and watch trailers.
>Nintendo was doing that pretentious "slap a recognizable character/symbol onto a blank background and people will still buy it in droves" marketing technique
Consider that's the Japanese box art it was probably more Square's decision. The cast of characters or even just a logo on a blank white background is how most of the Japanese box art for Square games used to look.
This is worse solely because they added shadows behind the characters, which makes the background look more like an empty room instead of being pasted into the white space like in
the latter makes the art look more like a page out of a storybook. The former looks like they're posing figures for an Amazon page.
I don't think it looks as bad horizontal.
Forced soul.
They could have made the 3D models look exactly like the high-res renders and it would have been amazing, but no we get nuMario just kind of squished
Those faded colors. That off-white background. Those imperfect models. Amazing. Flawless.
>The original has an actual background
No, it doesn't.
?
If we're lucky it'll be reversible and have a reference to the SNES version on the other side.
Should add Bowser's Castle and Exor in the background.
are you a snoytroony OP? this is the most soulful nintendo has been has the gamecube era. maybe better than n64
Forced soul
Forced meme.
My dick forced into your mouth.
it's a placeholder amazon uses on every preorder they change it closer to release day
At least the background doesn't look like 3D World's. That one literally looks like they deleted the bottom layer on photoshop
that's what it is champ,,,
At least draw some nice new art instead of having the cast of characters (minus Yoshi wtf) in a white void. It's so fricking lifeless.
I get its mimicking the original art but mario looks so fricking weird. everyone else is fine he just looks like an unhinged midget
I really don't know how to feel about it, the rest of the remake looks fine and its kept the designs more accurate than I would've ever expected but the proportions just look really weird
It's the detail. There's too much of it for something so small. Looks uncanny as frick.
I think its more just the scaling looks weird. Also peach and mario looking like they have no neck isn't doing it any favors.
Mario only looks weird in the remake from the front, which you literally never see outside of cutscenes. In the actual gameplay he looks great. And this game doesn't exactly have a lot of cut scenes.
It's not even correctly mimicking it, they are all just kind of chibi (except Bowser who is literally just nuBowser).
The original's renders were completely unique.
They're trying to get the game to bomb so they can day non mandated games sell like shit
T.schizo
A lot of the new models literally look better than the old ones.
White box art was a Mario RPG stapple, both RPG and all the Mario & Luigi games had white boxes in Japan, some of them were given more complwx box arts in the west but ever since Bowser's Inside Story they got homogenized with the japanese style.
Final fantasy is where it came from.
White background only works in Landscape. In Portrait it looks too much like blank printer paper.
can't wait for this mother fricker to filter the kids
how was i supposed to know???!!!!
The fact there's a save block right next to it.
>pikmin has amazing American and Canadian box art
>has terrible japanese box art
>the box art for Pikmin 1+2 is based on the terrible japanese ones
Frick off Nintendo
It really needs the background that the Super NES boxart had
RPG sounds stupid. They should have just had the subtitle.
>They should have just had the subtitle.
Not canon.
JP or US?
