Dualsense build quality is dog shit compared to Xbox kino.
>asimetric build
no
Bait thread. The elite series xbox controllers are a scam for shitty plastic build quality. I've had one of each of the 3 generations and they all had a different part break within the first couple months of use.
that's not the dualsense
Missing too many buttons, trash controller.
when it decides to not stick drift. Too bad that isn't very often.
But if you want one of those "luxury controllers", you'd be better off buying the Dualsense Edge because at least you can replace the sticks without taking apart the entire controller.
You've never owned a series controller asshol so stfu. You dont even know it's basic features. You can replace the stick very easily. Good Inhate this board people have opinions about things they know nothing about than just lie.
>You can replace the stick very easily
You're thinking about just the sticks themselves.
I'm talking about the entire module. You need to take apart the Elite controller to replace the entire module.
You don't need to do that for Edge. It's literally one of Edge's main selling points.
Really just waiting for someone to recreate these with Hall Effects.
NTA but ain't it hilarious how instead of adding hall effects which is the solution to all problems they instead opt to just resell the stick modules cause it makes them more money.
What about the standard Xbox controller vs the dual sense? Are there any good third party alternatives?
8bitdo pro2 or if you're mentally moronic and want to spend extra for hall effect sticks
8bitdo ultimate
don't even bother with the ching chong ultimate build quality is trash
I can't believe morons actually recommend this controller, homie just look at the design, it's a shit box.
I bought the Vader 3 Pro, and it's a good controller, however the software is shit, and I notice when I accidentally sometimes press the left bumper when I'm pulling the left trigger, but I think that's just my hand positioning. But the overall ergonomics are superb, it's light weight, and once you get past the software, it's plug and play like an Xbox controller.
What problems have you had with the software? I'd heard horror stories about it crashing frequently, but I've had mine for a month with zero crashes and no issues with it misbehaving otherwise so I'd assumed the current version was fine.
>1st gen hall effect sticks
Don't even bother with that crap.
Xbox one has better d-pad. Its face buttons are better as well, however subjective this claim may be. Haptic triggers are memed too much and don't matter.
PowerA because they are cheaper which means I can just replace them easily
>no gyro
no.
is a meme in anything but switch emulation
No. It's just Microsoft trying to scrape some cash off the top and make controllers falling outside of their norm look useless by still including substandard components and neglecting essential features.
It's the only thing that makes this controller format tolerable for modern game design that tries so hard to convince you that there are no barriers between your input and what happens in the game, at least when the handholding outside of the core game design is turned off.
so mouse aim is a meme?
didn't know that aim assist was so redundant.
mouse aim only makes logical sense on pc games
pc games don't exist outside of games from 2003 and before
Gyro tends to have pretty bad support on PC, unfortunately
PC is the best platform for gyro, gyro works in basically any game using steam input.
what do you mean?
In what way? Steam should offer great gyro support.
Gyro doesn't need support on PC.
>using the beta version of steam input
based
>(LIE)
ok, you do you.
any PC game with aiming?
>Lie
Name 5 modern fps games designed for mouse and keyboard
Team fortress2 (classic)
ultrakill
DUSK
CS2
Ashes 2063 (or any modern DOOM or Quake mod)
easy, didn't even have to use AAA games that are more for both (which is an aspect gyro excels even better in)
>INDIES AND MODS DON'T COUNT!!!!
don't care.
>Team fortress 2
>Modern
>CS
>Modern
>indie shit with buttplug mod
>Doom Mod
lmao
>NEWER STUFF IN OLDER FRANCHISES DON'T COUNT!
moving the goalpost, and i don't care, they fit, being that all of them are from within the last 5-10 years.
pathetic you are
tf2 is like 20 years old
and counter strike isn't even a new game
it's just a engine update
kys
tf2 classic released in 2020 (technically it was a thing in 2014, but it was not really played IIRC).
CS2 changes a lot of CS and is by all accounts a new game. It's more different than codslop that you wanted me to say, but i don't care about those games.
>cs2 changes a lot
>changes smoke particles
>that's about it
yup, and that changes the meta a lot.
you can cope all you want, but it counts and is a game the benefits greatly from gyro.
literally nothing fricking changes the rounds play the same except you don't have a homosexual sitting in smoke killing you without any returning fire unless you are playing at a high rank
sounds like enough change for me.
based, mods for mods
>TF2 Classic
>The main selling point is the new gamemode and a handful of new donut steel weapons
>Majority of the playerbase ignore all that and concentrated on the meme weapon servers that play only on vanilla TF2 maps anyway
What a shitshow
>NOOOO, IT DOESNT COUNT, BECAUSE, UH, IT JUST DOESNT, OK
Kek
The new gyro to mouse (beta) is so much better than the original. Just set the dots/360 degrees value correctly and the sensitivity value is a ratio between real world rotation and ingame rotation, so 4x means the ingame camera turns 4x as much as my controller. Also makes it really easy to transfer values between different games and the dots/360 degrees value is shared with flick stick.
pro tip: the value for any Quake engine derived game is 16364 at ingame sensitivity of 1, just divide by ingame sens if you use anything else. This covers a huge array of shooters from Quake to the latest CoD.
Really neat system.
thank you so much for that tip, that tip will help me a lot. (especially cause i want to start playing "boomershooters" and older FPS mods on deck using gyro)
>any PC game with aiming?
What kind of gay prefers to hold both his arms up wagglin his controller like a moron instead of using a fricking mouse? Gyro is a stopgap solution for console players because they generally can't use a mouse, there's no reason to use it if you're already playing a PC game.
>hold both his arms up wagglin his controller like a moron
bozo
Black person
In what games would you use that?
Literally any shooter if you prefer gamepad.
Fortnite and Apex are actually prime examples, because the PC versions give gamepads neutered as frick aim assist compared to console. Tier looks like this.
MKB = Gyro > Gamepad console >>>>>>>>>>>>> Gamepad PC
I use it to look around in flight sims. Don't care for having an autism setup with hotas and headtracking and whatnot. Gamepad with gyro works for me.
I don't like how a quarter of my A presses don't register
For half the price you get the vader 3 pro which has newest hall effect and other premium features. Don't even try the chink shit argument when the OP is the xbox elite, fricking lmao.
you need to charge it that's a deal breaker for me, I would rather use batteries
how long have you had it?
me
a few months. It has 4 back paddles and the C/Z face buttons all of which can be remapped (of course). Haven't had any issues with it and it has a Bluetooth mode and a Switch mode you can swap to through a switch on the back and there are little tabs which change RT/LT to having the same depression settings as an actual Switch.
No, but like I said Ive only had it for a few months. I had more issues using my DS5 than I have had with the V3P.
What the frick kind of dpad is that supposed to be? Are you moronic?
There are problems with modern xbox pads but the dpad is not one of the. Best fricking dpad.
>See dpad
>Have never used it
>Imagine in your head that it's bad
did they fix the bumpers from the original xbox one controller? so you actually can press them from every angle? the controller I had only allowed you to press them at the edges
for a few months than you need to buy another one or fix stick drifting
>no gyro
I fricking hate the dpad and the build quality is dogshit. This wouldn't matter if it didn't cost the price of three controllers
Build quality is nicer than any controller. Sont fan boys should be shot. This thread is full of people making up shit about a controller they haven't even looked up the specs for.
Black person, I don't care about your consolewar homosexualry. All I know is I bought a $180 controller and within a year, the LB button fricked up, the left trigger only works without the stoppers, the top right back button only works if you press it hard and the dpad feels like shit since it's connected with magnets.
I've never found a use for those back paddles on the back. Nothing supports them anyway.
I don't like asymmetrical sticks
>muh ergonomics
I don't even use them, most of the time
Having more than one stick on these unibody gamepads is a meme anyway (possibly even more of a meme than the unibody gamepad itself, which was only a concession to needing everything to connect with wires before batteries and wireless connections were good enough). You're not controlling more than one character at a time in most contexts and that's about the only thing that the thumbstick is good for in conventional gameplay.
It is already thoroughly trumped by other solutions for the task of panning a camera.
The ergonomics suffered when they tried to bring it more in line with the conventional controller without redesigning it and the bumpers/paddles feel pretty cheap.
I prefer my Razer Wolverine v2 to my Elite Controller. Nicer clicks.
I loved the feel of my wolverine but the A button is now misfiring after less than a year of light use.
i heard the steam controller was good
it's good, but it's a product for a certain kind of player, and some games will never work well with it.
IMO, a dualsense (maybe with some paddles) is an easier rec.
>some games will never work well with it
is that a challenge?
maybe not impossible, but way more trouble than it is worth.
this.
i can't wait for steam controller 2.
I want it but I want the same as Steam Controller 1 only much better ergonomically. The Steam Controller's primary problem is that is feels like shit. Its a giant bulky rock.
>only much better ergonomically
you're most likely holding it wrong.
it is not meant to be held like a normal controller.
you need your thumbs almost pointed down on the trackpads.
The Xbox 360 controller was the last good one made by MS. Since then the build quality has slowly gone to shit while prices have increased.
of course not. where is the fricking dpad? how are you going to play platformers?
>no gyro
if you wasted money on this ur a moron
Any controller as long as it has hall effect on the sticks is good. like the 8bitdo ultimate.
I just use my dualshock 3 that I got with my PS3. Works natively on Linux which is nice, no need for shitty drivers. for fighting games I use that usb playstation classic controller. Honestly they just work, and you don't need much more.
>"premium" controller
>still uses potentiometer memetech for sticks
Frick no
>better, hall-effect analog sticks
>comes with charging dock and usb dongle
>a lot cheaper
>works with switch too
>comes with a charging dock
so i can't charge and game at the same time? sounds shit
>so i can't charge and game at the same time?
Incorrect
I bought one and I like it but it’s inferior to the Xbox. I always find myself using the Xbox controller over this
CLACK CLACK CLACK
elite controller doesn't work correctly with steam deck
two hundred us dollars
The dualshock controllers trackpad can be mapped the same way as the deck trackpads using steam input, which means you can do shit like virtual menues or mouse input, not to mention it also supports gyro.
I find that way too comfy to go back to 360 controllers anymore.
I fell for the vixtrix meme recently since it was on sale for 150€. It's actually alright, has some issues which apparently aren't a thing if you use w11.
I like the dualsense or whatever is called but I also play on PS5 and used the two controllers I have a lot, both have drifting issues on both sticks. Aside from that, lots of games still don't get the playsyation button layout natively and either you mod them or shit gets confusing sometimes.
If I also didn't have a ps5 I would definitely go with the Xbox one, I know it's good, I tried it, and shit will always work right away with no issues.
Anyone tried the Razer wolverine ultimate?
Are there any controllers that don't break within two years of even light use now?
it's Razer shit so it's going to break as soon as the warranty expires guaranteed
What doesn't break as soon as the warranty expires?
Every review of every controller seems to show the same.
>as soon as the warranty expires?
What I want to know is how shit always seems to know, to the second, when a warranty expires.
Mine's holding up well. The left bumper is loose. The dpad feels like shit, but in a stiff way. And the 4 triggers on the back are annoying. In conclusion, if you spend more than $40 on a gamepad, you lost.
the frick is that dpad homie
pic rel for 2d platformers and fighters
regular sexbox controller for everything else
It is but the quality control issue is real. The X button on mine sticks slightly which shouldn’t be a thing on such an expensive controller. But it still is the best controller I’ve used especially because of the weight
pro tip: just get an elite core and these back paddles and your golden. also the latest firmware update lets you toggle paired devices by double pressing the pair button.
T4 Kaleid
It's like what, $150 and still has severe QC issues
The elite is the biggest scam in the history of Microsoft. Yes that includes windows 2k. Had a friend who bought it at full price (300$) hated it and it slowly got passed around to everyone in our group. It feels slow and cheap at the same time despite costing an arm and a leg. I stand by the standard 360 controller being the best outside of premium controllers for pc
Another lie it does not feel cheap?? Another person who has never even held one and is lying.
Yes. It does. It feels stiff and unresponsive. Because it is
win2k was a fricking beast. I held onto it as long as i could.
yes
>has less features than a controller that costs 40 dollars
lmao
got a G7 SE coming in tomorrow, besides membrane buttons and stick springs not being all that great are there any other problems I should know about
idk this is a t4k and thats the one i have lmao.
The only real con to this controller is that you have to update firmware when you get it and DirectInput doesn't work on Linux for some reason (con for me personally, doesn't apply for Windows).
Imagine paying for more than 70 dollars for a controller lmao.
i just want an xbox series controller with gyro but microsoft are moronic
dualsense buttons can be too stiff, d-pad is worse, triggers are worse and way too sensitive
I understand Microsoft not wanting motion controls after the Kinect fiasco but they are straight up behind at this point.
The faster we implement gyro+flickstick, the faster we can get games that don't basically aimbot for you.
I think MS might be more worried about not straight up exiting consoles in the next few years
Should have better games. And on that note, give Halo to another studio. 343 has fricked up for 10 years now.
>he doesn't have a Gen 1 Xbox Elite controller with a Brook X One Adapter Xtra that gives it a rechargable battery, bluetooth, gyro and the ability to use it on Xbox, Switch, Playstation or PC
This entire thread is dumb and this is a solved problem.
Dualsense edge, was hoping for a black Friday sale and it never happened so I caved and no regrets. Best controller ever. Absolutely pisses on Xbox garbage which ive had to throw it every 6 months cause either the buttons stop working or the bumpers stop working. Including the first elite series. Trash pajeet Microsoft garbage
I don't understand why you would want to spend 200 for a controller.
It doesn't even have hall effect while the dreamcast controller had them 2 decades ago.
Even paying $200 for a hall controller would be really really moronic because China is pumping then out at the ~$50 price mark like candy
>Back buttons
>Trigger stops
>Bluetooth Wireless with true 1ms delay
>Cause I can lol
>Back buttons
I feel like you can mod those in, but even then there are controllers that have those for cheaper
>Trigger Stops
This one I really don't get. Analogs aren't so much slower than digital to warrant this.
>Bluetooth 1ms
Fair enough. I play on PC so I just go wired anyways.
>Cuz I can
your money not mine
Trigger stops are for repeated presses. The travel time between a trigger going back to a state you can press it again vs instantaneous button presses with a button is huge
get a 2.4Ghz connection and not a bluetooth one if you want to openly jerk off to your choice of controller
2.4ghz literally has 30 ms of input delay, moron. That's older tech than Bluetooth zoomer
2.4ghz dongles use some proprietary mumojumbo that cuts down on latency. Bluetooth is newer but it's also a clusterfrick that needs to have compatibility with everything forever which ends up making slower and more prone to drop outs.
People have tested this over and over again, the custom dongles are always better.
yeah its been tested to be complete shit with major input lag vs 1 fricking ms you fricking lying through the teeth microsoft pajeet SHILL
?si=7085f3GkeqThPOlK&t=301
Did you even watch the video? Or his other videos where he shills the dongle? Bluetooth does not fricking giving you 1ms. There's no controller out there giving you 1ms through bluetooth, the only way to reach that is through some overclocked wired controllers.
Just to run the point home, here's your DS Edge running at a silky smooth 19.4ms delay through bluetooth.
There's a reason why every single wireless mouse, every single wireless keyboard, every single wireless controller comes included with a proprietary 2.4ghz dongle. You can not find me a single example of a peripheral that runs faster through bluetooth than through their proprietary dongle, they aren't shoving these dongles into everything just to frick with you. Some dongles are better and more optimized than others but the alternative (running it in bluetooth mode) is always worse.
I'm sorry you're a moron.
Whos buying the kk3?
As soon as it's available on Amazon.
no, that would be the Elite Series 1.
I’d spend $100 on a controller if I knew it would last at least 5 years.
I have had my elite series 2 since launch with 0 issues.
They're selling these off cheaper now because the new gyro controller is coming out next year.
It is me. The rain transformed
Do buttons inexplicably stop working right after less than two years?
If not, I will consider.
That's going to be luck of the draw no matter what controller you get. 2nd gen hall sticks eliminate stick drift, but there's not a ton of variety in button membranes/switches and if those are failing on you often you should either learn to do the $1 part replacements or get used to buying new controllers often.
Before the last five years, controllers didn't inexplicably break despite light use and being taken care of.
Now, they all do. Stop accepting mediocrity.
No, the Steam controller is
maybe if you have mutant hands....asymmetrical thumbsticks are for deformed morons
no gyro no buy
>potentiometer sticks
