This. Was gonna play a title been sitting in my steam library for years, 7 Days To Die, saw a news post, they just celebrated the 10th anniversary of the game... and it is STILL in alpha.
7DtD has the most moronic devs in existence. The devs, for no reason, decide every few years to redo all parts of their game again.
The core idea of a zombie building game with wave combat and defensive structures is just such a good concept that people continue to play it for like... what? nearly two decades at this point?
The funniest ship was playing this game with a friend in 2017, then coming back in 2023 and it literally feels like the same alpha with a few different changes but theres been like 30 patches
You think they'd have learned by now, but guess the sales are enough that they can just keep on trucking. Plus they could've just as easily dumped the game in like 2016 after calling next patch 1.0 like most of those early access indie scumbags, the continued support (even if it mostly amounts to redoing their old work) warrants at least some respect.
Yes.
Too much content can be a bad thing. Game development needs to be focused; without proper vision and moron-wrangling, a game can easily get stuck in development hell from feature/content creep
The only thing I'd want is to be able to remove accessory modifiers and to be able to stack them.
Dyes can exist as a stack and you only equip one at a time.
Maybe let Vanity items stack too.
Minecraft beats it with all the shitty new mobs that don’t drop anything, garish new looking textures for classic blocks, and unfitting music that was composed by a troony that doesn’t even try to emulate c418’s style
the dev's absolute fear of failing to make a decent sequel is ruining this game. Just stop fricking with the game it was already fine and there are only so many useless npcs you can add
they got lazy. All they do is sit on their asses all day and stare at the monitor trying to figure out what to add to the game. I dont doubt they would watch videos on their own game and then arbitrarily change shit because they dont like the player doing stuff in a way they dont like (such as using hallowed armor for EoL dayform)
>I dont doubt they would watch videos on their own game and then arbitrarily change shit because they dont like the player doing stuff in a way they dont like
Red is actually that autistic and the torch luck mechanic as originally implemented was him being a vindictive c**t. It was also a hidden mechanic that was barely even mentioned in-game at all, making it even worse.
>redgit admiting in his discord that the nerfs to make certain defensive items not work with EoL dayform was entirely because of watching youtube videos of people beating her
this autist needs to frick off
Why ruin a perfectly good image with that crybaby blurb about modern torch luck? The negative applying to prefixless torches was the only frick-up and it was removed. The magnitude was never an issue.
you missed how they nerfed afk farms for the rarest drops into the fricking ground. Alongside adding code specifically to make the rod of discord be impossible to get using an afk farm
He's probably talking about Rod of Discord drops, and those are easy as frick to AFK, just stand on some conveyor belts hooked up to a timer to go back and forth.
It bypasses the spawn conditions for Chaos Elementals
I know it's a meme to say this but why dont they just take from calamity or just hire them to make some things. They're really good at making new biomes and the ocean section is 1000x better than the base game
I like most of these changes but I do agree with how moronic the sword shit is, the meele class is anything but meele and it's the safest one to play as by far. Also, I've always wanted something cool at the bottom of the ocean and that hole full of nothing is wasted potential.
>What started as a "quick and short" update to add our side of the Terraria x Dead Cells crossover content has morphed into a much larger update that we have been working on for over a year now. The team is currently going over more plans and ideas in regards to what else might make it into 1.4.5, timelines, etc. >2024 is going to be a great one, we cannot wait to show you more from 1.4.5 in the months to come!
All this basically tells me is that 1.4.5 won't be out until at LEAST Q3 2024, all to implement likely more optional features that don't even affect progression in any meaningful way, which is getting absurd. At this point they might as well call it 1.5. I've been holding out for the update before bothering to play it again myself but I've been waiting for nearly a year already.
Zoomers will pay ten times more for skins in a month than what I paid for Terraria once 13 years ago. I've now paid less than 20 cents a year to play Terraria and it's still getting updated.
I bought the game when it released and I'm very happy that the dev turned terraria into such a "bloated" game.
The only change I can say I definitively didn't like was the new furnace sprites. The old ones were much more homely feeling.
My only issue with this is how the game's engine clearly can't support all that content. But the devs aren't capable enough to port everything to a better engine either.
explain to me how more content is bad
cause like, i would absolutely love most rpgs to have 20+ classes and 200+ different kinds of enemies, as long as it avoids power creep
same with kirby and his abilities
good
just give me more shit to play with, i don't care if it changes anything
hell, it'd be better if it didn't change anything to begin with and just added more to it
>more shit to play with
okay here is 50 variations of the standard toilet for every blocktype that you would definitely 100% use and not instantly trash or ignore
A lot of it is just gimmick shit that has no real impact on progression or anything, and is shit you'll probably skip right past anyway. There hasn't been any significant improvements to hardmode progression (which desperately needs it) for example in years that I'm aware of.
The constant (this is the last one!) updates to Terraria is vidya equivalent to Lucas editing the ST films in order to "improve" them in accordance to his vision. The additions/changes have been more spitefully disruptive to the gameplay experience compared to the benefits they supposedly bring. Everyone was fine with Terraria as it was. There was no need to rock the boat and frick up the status quo for god knows what reason.
>The additions/changes have been more spitefully disruptive to the gameplay experience compared to the benefits they supposedly bring.
Actually name one other than the reaver shark nerf the only issue with being that it's now worse than the bone and fossil picks despite ostensibly being the same general zone of "Quirky Prehardmode Pickaxe"
it's not equivalent at all
lucas adding shit to the star wars movies effectively changed how the story went, no matter how insignificantly (e.g. han and greedo)
in terraria the story comes secondary to gameplay, and thus the game can have as much added to it as the devs want and have time for
No. Updates and more content are great. The real problem is that they are doing all of it for this game instead of actually making Terraria 2. Red literally said back in 2013 that Terraria's engine has too many limitations and he wanted to make Terraria 2 because of it and yet here we are.
>WAHHHHHH MY GAME HAS TOO MUCH CONTENT AND DEV SUPPORT WAHHHHHHHHHH
Yes
Make a new fricking game
play something else
Unironically play something else.
I like the new content.
>I WANT TO SPEND MORE MONEY AHHHH
>THEY SHOULD AT LEAST ADD A BATTLEPASS AND MTX AND PAYED COSMETICS
This. Was gonna play a title been sitting in my steam library for years, 7 Days To Die, saw a news post, they just celebrated the 10th anniversary of the game... and it is STILL in alpha.

>YEEESSSSSSS LET ME CONSOOOOOOOOOMMMMM
jesus
Updates? Didnt they say they are done like 3 times?
>destroying the original vision and artisic integrity is le based
Die
>game kept alive by modders
>dev support
Buy an ad rabbi
Yes.
Too much content can be a bad thing. Game development needs to be focused; without proper vision and moron-wrangling, a game can easily get stuck in development hell from feature/content creep
Having purchased terraria on release, where there was 3 bosses and no hardmode. I think you're full of shit and love how much has been added.
Lol no. The ~200MB disk space it takes up in a computer is extremely economical.
1.4.5 is never fricking coming out is it?
It's 1.5 now chuddie. Remember what became of 1.3.6?
Release 1.4.5 and get hyped for 1.4.6
Nah, it's great
The only thing I'd want is to be able to remove accessory modifiers and to be able to stack them.
Dyes can exist as a stack and you only equip one at a time.
Maybe let Vanity items stack too.
World of Warcraft is.
>bloated game
How? I have the opposite problem, there's not much to do
You just defeat boss after boss with no real exploration after hard mode
The best part of the game is the beginning
That would be CoD: MW3 (the new one)
A game so bloated that the 100GB+ wasn't enough and needed MW2 to be installed. Also 100gb+
Minecraft beats it with all the shitty new mobs that don’t drop anything, garish new looking textures for classic blocks, and unfitting music that was composed by a troony that doesn’t even try to emulate c418’s style
autistic dev
just make terraria 2
>pylons
cringe
>happiness
cringe
>torch luck
based esoteric mechanic that whiny wiki browsing turboautists ruined
the dev's absolute fear of failing to make a decent sequel is ruining this game. Just stop fricking with the game it was already fine and there are only so many useless npcs you can add
What the frick happened around 1.4 that made them shit the bed so much anyway? The torch luck shit was an especially egregious change at the time.
they got lazy. All they do is sit on their asses all day and stare at the monitor trying to figure out what to add to the game. I dont doubt they would watch videos on their own game and then arbitrarily change shit because they dont like the player doing stuff in a way they dont like (such as using hallowed armor for EoL dayform)

How do we replace Redigit with someone not mentally ill?
>redgit admiting in his discord that the nerfs to make certain defensive items not work with EoL dayform was entirely because of watching youtube videos of people beating her
this autist needs to frick off
That torch luck thing has to bu unadulteted autism, it makes no sense otherwise.
Wow that's a lot of dumbass changes.
I dont get why they dont buff the hundreds of literally useless hardmode items nobody fricking uses
Why ruin a perfectly good image with that crybaby blurb about modern torch luck? The negative applying to prefixless torches was the only frick-up and it was removed. The magnitude was never an issue.
missing a bonus is the same as getting a penalty
inb4
>nooooooooOOOOOOOOO it's SOMEHOW DIFFERENT!!!
it's SOMEHOW DIFFERENT!!!
Correct.
It's not and we have when WoW axed XP rates to prove it ain't.
you missed how they nerfed afk farms for the rarest drops into the fricking ground. Alongside adding code specifically to make the rod of discord be impossible to get using an afk farm
what the frick?
yeah they went through and made afk farms no longer work
>afk farm for a 0.1% drop item
Why wouldn't you just cheat the item in at that point?
how did they patch it? Also why is the dev so fricking autisitic?
if you stand still too long it literally turns off item drops
why?
uhmmmmm because those items are supposed to be super rare???
>NOOOOOOO YOU DONT UNDERSTAND I NEED EVERY ITEM IN THE GAME!!!!!!!!!
fricking zoomers
Because Red has autism. That's the whole reason. He gets incredibly angry when people don't play the game the way he wants them too. See torch luck.
He's probably talking about Rod of Discord drops, and those are easy as frick to AFK, just stand on some conveyor belts hooked up to a timer to go back and forth.
It bypasses the spawn conditions for Chaos Elementals
They made it so if you build your afk farm near your villaigers it doesn't work anymore so you have to build them far away and it sucks now.
I know it's a meme to say this but why dont they just take from calamity or just hire them to make some things. They're really good at making new biomes and the ocean section is 1000x better than the base game
>They're really good at making new biomes and the ocean section is 1000x better than the base game
I dont agree
Better than 2 of the same ocean on either side, hell even the aquatic depths from thorium would be nice.
the only thing here that actually upsets me is the waterbolt spawn changes
I like most of these changes but I do agree with how moronic the sword shit is, the meele class is anything but meele and it's the safest one to play as by far. Also, I've always wanted something cool at the bottom of the ocean and that hole full of nothing is wasted potential.

no, that would be Starfield.
I hate when devs do the whole "This is the last update!" thing and it ends up being a lie.
Yes, I too hate getting free updates for a great game. I hope Terraria 2 has paid DLC content ripped from the base game and sold back to me.
Zoomers will pay ten times more for skins in a month than what I paid for Terraria once 13 years ago. I've now paid less than 20 cents a year to play Terraria and it's still getting updated.
where the frick is the crossplay?
I don’t want this useless shit added on the game, I want crossplay.
That would require actual work instead of idea guy feature creep. We're deep in version hell.
I bought the game when it released and I'm very happy that the dev turned terraria into such a "bloated" game.
The only change I can say I definitively didn't like was the new furnace sprites. The old ones were much more homely feeling.
Someone should poke him on the forums, or twitter to see if he'd be willing to add a shimmered furnace.
My only issue with this is how the game's engine clearly can't support all that content. But the devs aren't capable enough to port everything to a better engine either.
The most bloated game is leaf blower revolution.
>item bloat
>torch luck
>npc happiness
>anti-farming changes
>nerfs
This game should have stopped receiving updates years ago.
>Is this the most bloated game ever made?
warframe
explain to me how more content is bad
cause like, i would absolutely love most rpgs to have 20+ classes and 200+ different kinds of enemies, as long as it avoids power creep
same with kirby and his abilities
because 99.99% of it doesnt meaningfully change how the game plays or makes replays any different from how the game played 2 years ago.
good
just give me more shit to play with, i don't care if it changes anything
hell, it'd be better if it didn't change anything to begin with and just added more to it
>more shit to play with
okay here is 50 variations of the standard toilet for every blocktype that you would definitely 100% use and not instantly trash or ignore
i'll take it
give me more
It didn't used to take 5 minutes to reach the end of the crafting recipes for a piece a wood.
Terra Fart Kart is based, and you can cry about it
A lot of it is just gimmick shit that has no real impact on progression or anything, and is shit you'll probably skip right past anyway. There hasn't been any significant improvements to hardmode progression (which desperately needs it) for example in years that I'm aware of.
because every time they update this game I have to do another full playthrough
The constant (this is the last one!) updates to Terraria is vidya equivalent to Lucas editing the ST films in order to "improve" them in accordance to his vision. NPC happiness and ghosts.
>those don't count
Great, glad we had this discussion.
>SW*
Frick, that is an embarrassing mistake. I need to take a nap.
it's not equivalent at all

The last time I played Terraria Duke Fishron wasn't even in the game. I see these posts and think "what the frick?"
I really like all the Terraria hate threads lately.
I have every steam achievement and I still hate this game lmao
Everything since, and including, the addition of The Crimson has been shit.
No. Not even close.
I see you never played path of exile
No. Updates and more content are great. The real problem is that they are doing all of it for this game instead of actually making Terraria 2. Red literally said back in 2013 that Terraria's engine has too many limitations and he wanted to make Terraria 2 because of it and yet here we are.
