It's okay, not as good as the first but it has its merits. The overall world is smaller and there's more land-based action, but the biomes are really fun to explore and build in. The biggest problem is it has three storylines going at the same time and only two of them get satisfactory endings, which was a result of the devs completely rewriting the story four or five times during development.
This seems accurate from what I've read but its on my list. I do wish they could update it to provide a more satisfactory ending in all story threads, as was done with original Subnautica.
it was bad. they didn't learn a single thing as to why people enjoyed the first game so much so it's full of terrible voice acting on top of badly written narrative, forced above ground areas and cut down underwater biomes.
Main game is pretty fun, you were isolated and could basically do whatever
The new game is shit, that feel of isolation is gone and the sound designer from the first one got fired
Yeah I agree with this, I want to explore deep terrifying trenches and find unspeakable horrors there. Subnautica was the best game so far to do this but I want to go deeper
Designing game worlds on a realistic scale is fricking moronic and not fun. Pretty much any exploration game worth its salt is going to be condensed to some degree.
I like the tidbit about that central underwater mountain range being the previous islands of hawaii that trailed off along with plate tectonics. You can even pinpoint the moment the pacific place switched directions in the past.
Even the devs admitted that the scale is wonky but making the game bigger would have forced them to go with procedural generation for the world and they didn't want to go that route. Hence the decision to set the game on a relatively shallow oceanic plateau
It's basically an underwater volcano reef, it's realistic enough
Unironically if they made it all about THE ABYSS then it'd just be a bland horror game because the place is fricking empty aside from the leviathans and probably some whalefall-filled ocean floor at 8000 - 20000 meter depths
Yes, the Aurora crashed in a 15-kilometer diameter caldera surrounded by vast deep ocean. There's other land masses and shallow areas on the planet but the ship lucked out landing where it did.
It's really good. It manages to pull off the diving deeper part pretty well, while also telling a story that you don't need to follow 100%.
Too bad about them firing the sound designer
>i'm sorry but this magical law of conservation of mass defying machine that can nano-construct anything from the human imagination cannot construct firearm shaped items because American Republicans won't ban guns >hope you just don't run into any trouble and everything in the entire galaxy is friendly tho
You feel helpless for about 3-4 hours, with any luck in salvage spawns by hour 5 you're swinging around like fricking spider man in the prawn, going full fricking yee haw riding reapers like a bucking horse, and boring their brains out with a drill arm.
>devs believe in gun control >game possesses gun control as a point of note >players are made to feel the disenfranchisement of being unarmed in a life or death survival scenario >game turns people against gun control
>one thing from this ranting is true >Gankerirgins create entire universes of headcanon about it
Are Americans so obsessed and worshiping of the second amendment they think not being able to shoot everything and everyone in children's toys is a direct attack on God and heaven?
Let me throw you into an alien planet made of mostly water with no means of defense. Hell, let me throw you into a wild pig territory with no means of defense.
They give an actual in-game explanation for the lack of weapons in the replicator though.
You might hate it but you wouldn't feel as helpless without guns and the entire game would be trivialized or even broken with them.
You would just need to redesign enemies to be more dangerous since the player now has the means to actually defend themselves.
Right now enemies are designed with the player not having guns in mind, which ironically makes them non-threatening as a consequence, since you need to be able to evade them without the ability to kill or wound them, and they have to be easy to evade so that any encounter with a hostile creature isn't guaranteed death due to the fact that the player can't defend themselves.
>They give an actual in-game explanation
And they also gave a real world explanation that they specifically did it because Republicans wouldn't vote to ban guns after Sandy Hook.
Seems more like you do because you're a politics goblin, but you do you, man.
The in-game explanation is flimsy and moronic, which is strange claiming [DATA CORRUPTION] as the reason is easier and more believable. But no, they had to shoehorn in a "guns r bad mkay" talking point instead.
I don't think it's flimsy, the logic makes sense for the same reason you can't carry knives onto planes since 9/11. >But no, they had to shoehorn in a "guns r bad mkay" talking point instead.

How slowly and simply does it need to be explained before you can understand?
The in-game explanation is flimsy and moronic, which is strange claiming [DATA CORRUPTION] as the reason is easier and more believable. But no, they had to shoehorn in a "guns r bad mkay" talking point instead.
Alterra is Weyland-Yutani, of course they wouldn't want their workers and employees having access to weapons, especially after a failed revolt. You people really need to stop making yourselves victims, you sound exactly like liberals.
>uhhh you can't complain about being preached to or you're just as bad

You have a dozen ways to kill everything in the game except the Sea Emepror and its kids.

>uhhh you can't complain about being preached to or you're just as bad
The restrictions on the fabricator were removed specifically due to the emergency situation the player was in. Or do you honestly believe Alterra lets any employee 3D print an entire Prawn suit for themselves whenever they want?
It's actually spot on given the way they portray Alterra. They lock advanced weapons out without authorization as a liability protection. This company fricking billed you for all the shit you used and constructed on the planet just to survive. They don't give a shit about human life, they had a single incident that probably cost them a ton in lawsuits and then just made a sweeping un-nuanced decision that effected everyone in their orbit.
It's a zoomer "survival" game like No Man's Sky, ARK, Conan Exiles ect. So basically it's a bad game by it's very design. If you're under the age of 21 and you really really love picking shit up off the ground to craft shit to pick up more shit then you'll probably love it though.
Probably. I'm pretty torn over it tbh, like on the one hand it would be really funny for these rich fricks to suffer for their hubris but there's also a 19 y/o kid on there and that feels cruel
>hey buddy here's a fabricator with everything you'll need to survive and thrive on this alien world >a speargun? lmao no here's your knife and a freezeray go stab that giant fish that's trying to kill you xd
Pic related is another great undersea exploration title. Not as expansive as something like Subnautica, but you go diving during the day to hunt for fish with your spear gun and the like (and other stuff, like possible discovering mermaid cities, artifacts etc) , and then come back to manage a sushi bar at night, pouring tea for patrons, planning the menu with what fish you have available, serving patrons promptly etc. Its quite well done even in EA and will be getting its 1.0 release next week I think.
Oh no, there's actual gameplay! After you finished your morning and afternoon dives, you go to the bar in the evening. There's management stuff to do like picking recipes and the decor of the place based on price and how many you have. You also don't want to prepare too many fish for the customers because anything you put out gets tossed at the end of the night if not sold, so it takes some planning. During the time when there are patrons ,its not just a menu - you have to walk to the patrons, take their orders to the chef, if they want tea (they have bubbles over their head telling you what they want, if they're waiting etc) there's a little mini game where you basically have to pour it perfectly and not slosh it over the place; you get less tips if you screw it up but its nto hard when you get the hang of it. Then when the chef calls order up you need to get it to the patron fast for maximum benefit, as thre is both money and sort of yelp ratings of sorts that will lead to progression and the bar doing better and better, which you can reinvest in both the bar itself and diving gear. There are also "special" event patrons too who want something off menu, complex, or who become recruitable in some way if you do things right.
Sounds interdasting. How does the sushi bar work? Is there any gameplay to cooking or serving people or is it just a menu screen?

Yes yes, we know you're very salty about someone discussing an undersea exploration game in an undersea exploration thread, it must be a shill for an EA game that is overwhelmingly positive with nearly 11K+ lifetime ratings and hundreds recently.
I'll try it, seems kinda neat tbh
Hope you enjoy it, Anon! It its. Only downside is that at least so far its not sold on 3rd party "legit" keysites, but it has gone on 20% discount on Steam direct before (I picked it up back in March when it was on sale) Not sure if they'll be doing any sort of sale when the game launches 1.0 but its definitely worth it if you enjoy both types of gameplay and the premise. Plus you get to play a fat white guy with a hat (when not diving) so that's fun.
Who cares. Their brilliant plan to follow up on an atmospheric water world exploration game was to make the next protagonist a racial caricature of a sassy black woman who never shut the frick up for several hours straight.
The fact that Subnautica has no pew pew laser guns that let you trivialize threats is great.
If anything they should have doubled down and not let you kill anything beyond small fish with the knife.
I think the early and middle game of Subnautica are pretty great and atmospheric but some aspects are annoying.
>Player gets hungry and thirsty exceptionally fast
This eventually gets easy to handle because you have automated sources of food and water, but it's annoying for a while until you get a system in place. He has a stomach parasite or something. >Really bad pop-in, not what you want with fricking reapers around the place >Random fricking bugs like walking on the sea floor with land physics, clipping out of your seamoth, random fricking assets or water just fill your base on load in when installed on an SSD, or just general jankiness when trying to do basic things >Late game is busywork and farming materials, feels like a lot of chores to get to the finale of the game
If you take the time to explore each of the regions in Subnautica, it serves its job as an ocean exploration game really well. You find upgrades over time, you get better shit, you basically get the materials and research to make your own home or even multiple homes. It's really cool in that aspect. The threats in the game can be avoided entirely or you can kill them with a hot butter knife if you REALLY fricking hate them that much. Eventually you get an underwater mech suit and that thing is kinda fun to break the game with.
I'd also like to point out that this is personally the best horror game I've played. I had extreme anxiety during multiple parts.
The bugs were my biggest gripe with this game. I had to restart it like 2 times when I was far into the game.
Once the game auto saved while I clipped out of the aurora and I started sinking into the ocean floor.
Another the game locked while traversing those portals near the end of the game, just stood there in the portal animation forever.
Also I lost two of my seamoths after parking in one of the islands, they clipped into the sand and couldn't get them out
>they clipped into the sand and couldn't get them out
Happened to me too. I wasn't restarting at that point so I used console commands to spawn another in.
By the way, I think it's weird that you need upgrades for your vehicles to withstand pressure deeper environments, but you can get out of your vehicle just fine and swim around and your health doesn't suffer at all no matter the depth, especially when you need to keep your thirst and hunger meters in mind. Maybe a suit for that would have helped. Or the ancient civilization gives you something to survive the deep places.
Making it impossible to do anything below a certain depth without a vehicle or vessel would have been incredibly stupid and frustrating. The same reason why when you go into the underground biomes there's enough light to see everything, sometimes realism has to be thrown out for better gameplay and less frustration.
I can't imagine paying a quarter mil to freeze to death in a tube with no food and very little oxygen. I would have brought a knife to slit my throat if I thought we would get stuck and nobody could get us.
i always built my base in the kelp forest, i like the color palette and nibbles from my stalkerbros. usually try and get power from the thermal vents in the mushroom cavern
overall i'd say it really needed more reasons to visit the less used biome. i never had to go explore the sea treader area, mountains, dunes, crag zone etc. i liked going on little prawn mining expeditions but was disappointed to find only the same resources and creatures. also frick warpers

yeah i did put a little outpost there. that was my favorite part of the game was finding the perfect little spot to put a base with a window so i can sit back and watch the sea treaders migrate, or stalkers playing with the scrap
i just wished there been any good reason to. even a good farming spot doesnt really necessitate more than a tiny base with a scanner room, map is small so travel time is short, may as well just have one base
it was like the game was right on the cusp of being awesome with the cyclops having to ferry stuff between your bases and being useful for once, but it fell short and then they self imploded with the dlc
Oh and that mountain area is bullshit. Super concentrated reaper area with no special reason to visit. Or maybe that's the dunes...
both i think? i steered clear of them. i guess there's a few tech pieces in there but i didnt need the headache
11 months ago
Anonymous
That's a cool idea with the outpost. I only ever made one shallow base and one deep base using the Cyclops to traverse. I just really like the Cyclops.
You're 100% correct about the dlc which is garbage. Who the duck asked for land vehicles in a sea exploration game? Also frick sea monkeys and the talkative protag.
What did you think of the story in the basement game?
Anonymous
Not basement. Base.
Anonymous
yeah i also made up reasons to use the cyclops because it was so neat. i used it to build a base under the huge tree in the ancient river before i went deeper
story wasn't life changing but it was pretty good, and i appreciate the worldbuilding that happened in the codex entries. satire about the corporate mandated homosexual newspeak were amusing and the drama between the castaways felt natural, even had the slightest herman melville flavor to it as their situation worsened

>did get a nice feels moment psychically say bye to sea mommy at the end though. mostly it felt pretty fresh, like a halfway decent sci fi novel from the airport
I found the final part of the story - in fact the final part of the whole game - a massive let-down. I was on board with most of it, there are some moments I found genuinely really cool, but the telepathic mommy monster having a magical slime that just solves everything - that was a bad call. It's so lazy.
Just like the whole process of creating those hatching enzymes was a joke, a terrible way to create essentially ultimate or penultimate challenge.
It feels like the studio was just doing whatever to wrap everything up. I can't blame them, I was there for the whole development and it was a long mess, so I can see them phoning in the end as understandable, but... it's still a bad way to conclude the story.
There should have been a map you can look onto. You can 3d print all these futuristic stuff from raw materials but no fricking map anywhere?(It should work like minecraft where it gets filled up progressively)
If you find something interesting like the entrance to the caves that go down to the vulcanic area good luck finding it again unless you have a beacon on hand(unless you have the big sub with storage space you aren't going to waste any inventory space for a beacon since you have so little inventory space)
>There should have been a map you can look onto.
That is a terrible idea that would just make the game worse. Learning how to navigate the world is part of what makes the game fun. A map just completely removes the actual exploration element.

Oh and that mountain area is bullshit. Super concentrated reaper area with no special reason to visit. Or maybe that's the dunes...
It's fun but it becomes boring when you realize there is very little danger. Even the little dangerous fauna there is is extremely dumb and/or trivial to avoid.
There should have been a map you can look onto. You can 3d print all these futuristic stuff from raw materials but no fricking map anywhere?(It should work like minecraft where it gets filled up progressively)

I think there isn't another game with this sense of scale. Maybe Outer Wilds comes close(especially the water planet) but I think you just can't capture the same feeling of vastness and giant aquatic monsters in space, the water adds a natural limit of viewing distance especially deep down where it is pitch black so you don't know what will await you besides how far the lights on your vessel can shine.

It's pretty good, didn't go for the DLC because it felt like a cash grab kinda; anyone here play it, is it bad?
It's okay, not as good as the first but it has its merits. The overall world is smaller and there's more land-based action, but the biomes are really fun to explore and build in. The biggest problem is it has three storylines going at the same time and only two of them get satisfactory endings, which was a result of the devs completely rewriting the story four or five times during development.
This seems accurate from what I've read but its on my list. I do wish they could update it to provide a more satisfactory ending in all story threads, as was done with original Subnautica.
Sums DLC up perfectly
>over an hour
Sum it up in one/two sentences.
Same as the first, slightly worse
it was bad. they didn't learn a single thing as to why people enjoyed the first game so much so it's full of terrible voice acting on top of badly written narrative, forced above ground areas and cut down underwater biomes.
Yes. There exists a certain controller that is perfect for it.
personally I prefer my $33 Logitech, I bet you could control a real life submersible with it if you had to, I'd stake my life on it
kek
>wireless
No wonder it sank
This is so stupid I can barely believe this is real
i have yet to find an equal
It's the best exploration game period.
Main game is pretty fun, you were isolated and could basically do whatever
The new game is shit, that feel of isolation is gone and the sound designer from the first one got fired
it's not big enough. the ocean is fricking huge, most people can't even conceptualize it. this like playing the condensed, theme park world version.
It doesn't have to be realistic, just large enough to get the sense of scale. Kenshi did it just fine.
As much as I'd love to have it, I kinda doubt we'll ever get a water exploration game the size of Pacific
It takes place within a volcano and you are being unrealistic and moronic
It's basically an underwater volcano reef, it's realistic enough
Unironically if they made it all about THE ABYSS then it'd just be a bland horror game because the place is fricking empty aside from the leviathans and probably some whalefall-filled ocean floor at 8000 - 20000 meter depths
I thought it was just like a caldera or something, no?
Yes, the Aurora crashed in a 15-kilometer diameter caldera surrounded by vast deep ocean. There's other land masses and shallow areas on the planet but the ship lucked out landing where it did.
Its a game, not a sim, calm down
It's really good. It manages to pull off the diving deeper part pretty well, while also telling a story that you don't need to follow 100%.
Too bad about them firing the sound designer
Barotrauma, Abzu, sunless sea
It was close but basically all the alien fish designs suck
>i'm sorry but this magical law of conservation of mass defying machine that can nano-construct anything from the human imagination cannot construct firearm shaped items because American Republicans won't ban guns
>hope you just don't run into any trouble and everything in the entire galaxy is friendly tho
You might hate it but you wouldn't feel as helpless without guns and the entire game would be trivialized or even broken with them.
>t.reaper
You feel helpless for about 3-4 hours, with any luck in salvage spawns by hour 5 you're swinging around like fricking spider man in the prawn, going full fricking yee haw riding reapers like a bucking horse, and boring their brains out with a drill arm.
This is true. Besides, the force gun is 10x more fun to play with then some pea shooter
>devs believe in gun control
>game possesses gun control as a point of note
>players are made to feel the disenfranchisement of being unarmed in a life or death survival scenario
>game turns people against gun control
>one thing from this ranting is true
>Gankerirgins create entire universes of headcanon about it
Are Americans so obsessed and worshiping of the second amendment they think not being able to shoot everything and everyone in children's toys is a direct attack on God and heaven?
Let me throw you into an alien planet made of mostly water with no means of defense. Hell, let me throw you into a wild pig territory with no means of defense.
>with no means of defense
Other than the dozen means of killing everything except the Sea Emperor and its kids?
>random words will defeat you!
I'm not the one terrified of doing something about his personal problems.
by personal problems you mean your own dick and balls?
You're surrounded by demons and evil and you refuse to do anything about except smash your keyboard on an image board, I'm ten times the man you are.
Where is this in the game? You said the game preaches and attacks your precious second amendment rights. This is not the game.
you just got curb stomped and humiliated in this thread, it was embarrassing to witness
you got raped and kicked in the face in this thread, it was hilarious to observe
i unzipped my dick and pissed a scalding hot load right in your face and you're just shaking and quivering impotently
i showed you a picture of a non-white person and you ran away in absolute terror pissing and shitting yourself screaming like a little girl
well Black folk are pretty disgusting. thats why you like them, because you hate yourself
yet you refuse to do anything about them and the other demons destroying your life because you're a weak cowardly b***h
you were emasculated by Black folk (or your mother) at a young age and now you let them plunder your anus while calling others weak, troony
>Game tries to have environmentalism as a theme.
>You're on a fricking deathworld with predators constantly trying to kill you.
They give an actual in-game explanation for the lack of weapons in the replicator though.
I'm not a politics goblin, so I don't care why they did it in real life. There's a reason that makes sense in-game, that's enough for me.
I do, because they published it as a news item to my Steam feed. They also fired their audio engineer over a joke he made in private.
Seems more like you do because you're a politics goblin, but you do you, man.
I don't think it's flimsy, the logic makes sense for the same reason you can't carry knives onto planes since 9/11.
>But no, they had to shoehorn in a "guns r bad mkay" talking point instead.
They didn't though.
>uhhh you can't complain about being preached to or you're just as bad
You're going out of your way to find things to be mad about, then getting mad about it, so yes, I'd say you're being unreasonable.
I've never seen or heard of whatever this anti-guns post is because I don't go out of my way to find stuff to get mad about, and the end result is that I'm not mad about it. You should really try it some time.
>i have nothing so i'm gonna copypasta my victimhood and declare myself the winner
Post a screenshot of where the game preaches an anti-gun screed.
>he hasnt played the game
happens in the first five minutes lmao
I don't remember the game lecturing me about how guns are evil dookie fartfart boing, I remember it saying that because of a massacre on a colony owned by the evil megacorp you work for only the knife is allowed.
>i dont remember this thing happening except for the part where it happened
>it didn't happen so i have to lie and make shit up so i can pretend i'm right
That's all your kind can do, isn't it.
>i got proven wrong on the internet and all i have left is denial and cope
I'm still waiting on how that's "being preached at" and "the most anti of anti-gun screeds". Hyperbole and moronation doesn't magically change things.
>moving the goalposts
this is really humiliating for you. couldn't be me though, i have an intact nutsack
>Weapons were removed from standard survival blueprints following the massacre on Obraxis Prime. The knife remains the only exception.
Explain how that's preaching and anti-gun.
>explain how this anti-gun sentiment is anti-gun, no don't just point at it, give me a real answer
Still waiting, child, greentext copypastas are not answers.
feel free to get on your hands and knees and suck my dick then, Black person moron (:
He can't because it isn't.
calm down troony
you've already lost so badly, give it a rest and breathe
You're the one preaching tho? The devs aren't here, there's only a crazy maga tard preaching about muh guns in this thread
The head guy, one person out of twenty or so, made a twitter post, and Ganker has been ripping its dick and balls off in manufactured outrage over it for years.
And also published an interview regarding their gun control stance to Steam News on their product page. And no one on team dissented when he fired an audio engineer for a private joke.
The guy shouldn't have used the same twitter he posts his professional material on to make his helicopter joke. It was dumb firing him, and he was dumber for doing it.
>the guy shouldn't have used the same mouth he speaks out of at work to speak out of on his private time
The account was not owned by his employer. It makes no difference where he said it off the clock. This is in zero ways different than simply saying "he shouldn't have had the wrong opinion" but crafted in a pilpul manner to seem like a reasonable stance involving a social media account.
I'm sure your workplace would be fine with you posting your futa lust on the same account you promote and talk about the company on.
A) What does pornographic material have to do with an opinion?
B) Where was it listed in his job description that he was an official company promoter? He was an audio engineer. His job did not include company promoter and it did not list his social media account as company property.
C) In my state being fired for what I post on my private social media account is, in fact, illegal.
>deliberately missing the point so he can rant and rave like he was the victim in this
How slowly and simply does it need to be explained before you can understand?
The in-game explanation is flimsy and moronic, which is strange claiming [DATA CORRUPTION] as the reason is easier and more believable. But no, they had to shoehorn in a "guns r bad mkay" talking point instead.
Alterra is Weyland-Yutani, of course they wouldn't want their workers and employees having access to weapons, especially after a failed revolt. You people really need to stop making yourselves victims, you sound exactly like liberals.
>uhhh you can't complain about being preached to or you're just as bad
Didn't work when you thought this was clever 10 years ago, it won't work now, and it'll never work.
>oh my god this video game won't let me shoot the shit out of all the animals, this is a direct assault on my god-given right to have guns!
If your entire reason for existing revolves around your bang-bang toys, you have a pathetic existence.
You have a dozen ways to kill everything in the game except the Sea Emepror and its kids.
>uhhh you can't complain about being preached to or you're just as bad
you're not being 'preached to' you stupid homosexual, if you view that shit as a personal attack it's a *you* problem
>uhhh you can't complain about being preached to or you're just as bad
Almost.
It's a zoomer "survival" game like No Man's Sky, ARK, Conan Exiles ect. So basically it's a bad game by it's very design. If you're under the age of 21 and you really really love picking shit up off the ground to craft shit to pick up more shit then you'll probably love it though.
Playing this in the summer by the ocean was peak kino and I'll never get to do it again
Only if you use a Logitech controller
For me it's Dave the Diver.
name another one
there's literally no other game similar to this
so the people in that sub are 100% dead right
I just hope the sub imploded on Sunday and they haven't been sitting in that coffin for 4 days
Probably. I'm pretty torn over it tbh, like on the one hand it would be really funny for these rich fricks to suffer for their hubris but there's also a 19 y/o kid on there and that feels cruel
Oh for sure.
I actually want to know what's on that camera in the sub and wtf happened.
They probably got Delta P'd.
>hey buddy here's a fabricator with everything you'll need to survive and thrive on this alien world
>a speargun? lmao no here's your knife and a freezeray go stab that giant fish that's trying to kill you xd
No, this is.
Said literally no one.
Sounds interdasting. How does the sushi bar work? Is there any gameplay to cooking or serving people or is it just a menu screen?
There are also "special" event patrons too who want something off menu, complex, or who become recruitable in some way if you do things right.
all me btw
Yes yes, we know you're very salty about someone discussing an undersea exploration game in an undersea exploration thread, it must be a shill for an EA game that is overwhelmingly positive with nearly 11K+ lifetime ratings and hundreds recently.
I'll try it, seems kinda neat tbh
I'm not buying your game, bro
Actually looks somewhat interdasting, will have an eye on it.
Looks kino
What are the devs up to these days? surely they'll attempt to catch lightning in a bottle again.
Who cares. Their brilliant plan to follow up on an atmospheric water world exploration game was to make the next protagonist a racial caricature of a sassy black woman who never shut the frick up for several hours straight.
Wasn't the sequel developed by the B team or something
Honestly, would have been fricking hilarious for the game to give you guns only for them to just not work underwater.
The fact that Subnautica has no pew pew laser guns that let you trivialize threats is great.
If anything they should have doubled down and not let you kill anything beyond small fish with the knife.
>thread about missing sub
piss off
we're discussing an underwater exploration game
I think the early and middle game of Subnautica are pretty great and atmospheric but some aspects are annoying.
>Player gets hungry and thirsty exceptionally fast
This eventually gets easy to handle because you have automated sources of food and water, but it's annoying for a while until you get a system in place. He has a stomach parasite or something.
>Really bad pop-in, not what you want with fricking reapers around the place
>Random fricking bugs like walking on the sea floor with land physics, clipping out of your seamoth, random fricking assets or water just fill your base on load in when installed on an SSD, or just general jankiness when trying to do basic things
>Late game is busywork and farming materials, feels like a lot of chores to get to the finale of the game
Playa Aquaria.
Wow, that's a throwback. Still a great decision for an underwater Metroidvania!
would be great without the leviathans
leviathans were great, i loved the feeling of realizing the scale of things as giant monsters approached you from the depths
i mean its basically the only one, so yeah
They are still alive, but they will never be found.
I can't imagine paying a quarter mil to freeze to death in a tube with no food and very little oxygen. I would have brought a knife to slit my throat if I thought we would get stuck and nobody could get us.
But what will the actual cause of death be? Asphyxiation?
This is the best.
looks cool but too scary for me. also did ai do this
Looks scary, but it's actually very goofy. No idea if that image is AI or not, but it doesn't look like it.
No, it's better with friends/people since it's easier to coordinate but you can play solo and buy AI crewmembers.
i saw a pic of a latcher and it gave me nightmares anon i'm too delicate
Isn't this online only?
i still remember when the dev would make threads here and play with anons
fun shit, i'm happy to see it didn't flop
>la atrocidad de las sietes mares................
I look like that and say that
>swimming game
>black protagonist
>it's a horror game
love it, but the map is just so small and still surprisingly empty
If you are alone in the sub you would have air for longer, I think the problem is decomposing bodies.
Are there any games for exploring ship wrecks or something like that?
Ideally something like Infra, more about the atmosphere than anything else.
Pass me the controller bro.
Holy shit this epic internet argument is out of control! Save me Black personman
trannies arent good at being proven wrong
Man, I'm not even the dude arguing with you. Who fricking cares? Post about Subnautica.
ok, right after you take a deep breath
That helped. Now what do you think of Subnautica?
i always built my base in the kelp forest, i like the color palette and nibbles from my stalkerbros. usually try and get power from the thermal vents in the mushroom cavern
overall i'd say it really needed more reasons to visit the less used biome. i never had to go explore the sea treader area, mountains, dunes, crag zone etc. i liked going on little prawn mining expeditions but was disappointed to find only the same resources and creatures. also frick warpers
>Kelp forest
Based and kelppilled
A friend told me that the sea treader's path is a good non-hostile place to get more advanced mats. It's pretty comfy teebeeH.
yeah i did put a little outpost there. that was my favorite part of the game was finding the perfect little spot to put a base with a window so i can sit back and watch the sea treaders migrate, or stalkers playing with the scrap
i just wished there been any good reason to. even a good farming spot doesnt really necessitate more than a tiny base with a scanner room, map is small so travel time is short, may as well just have one base
it was like the game was right on the cusp of being awesome with the cyclops having to ferry stuff between your bases and being useful for once, but it fell short and then they self imploded with the dlc
both i think? i steered clear of them. i guess there's a few tech pieces in there but i didnt need the headache
Not basement. Base.
yeah i also made up reasons to use the cyclops because it was so neat. i used it to build a base under the huge tree in the ancient river before i went deeper
story wasn't life changing but it was pretty good, and i appreciate the worldbuilding that happened in the codex entries. satire about the corporate mandated homosexual newspeak were amusing and the drama between the castaways felt natural, even had the slightest herman melville flavor to it as their situation worsened
did get a nice feels moment psychically say bye to sea mommy at the end though. mostly it felt pretty fresh, like a halfway decent sci fi novel from the airport
>like a halfway decent sci fi novel from the airport
Definitely a good description. I tried replaying it but couldn't recapture the feeling of the first time. It's too bad we'll probably never see another Sub game of that quality or better.
Also I sleep and dream of
>Welcome aboard Captain, all systems online
i miss that sub. i just wish there'd been an actual ocean to explore with her
someone should just do subnautica with low poly proc gen and terrain deformation
This. I would put a lot of time into a more sandbox version with proc gen. Apparently the devs continue to update the game so maybe there's hope for a true sequel.
>did get a nice feels moment psychically say bye to sea mommy at the end though. mostly it felt pretty fresh, like a halfway decent sci fi novel from the airport
That is a terrible idea that would just make the game worse. Learning how to navigate the world is part of what makes the game fun. A map just completely removes the actual exploration element.
Oh and that mountain area is bullshit. Super concentrated reaper area with no special reason to visit. Or maybe that's the dunes...
thread ruined
If you've made it this far through the two autists arguing about nothing:
>What's your favorite biome in Sub?
>Any good stories from playing the game?
I never died on subnautica, it's too easy imo
It's fun but it becomes boring when you realize there is very little danger. Even the little dangerous fauna there is is extremely dumb and/or trivial to avoid.
the Subnautica gun comments are weird, since the game has multiple guns in
no but it's the only game with ocean exploration
There should have been a map you can look onto. You can 3d print all these futuristic stuff from raw materials but no fricking map anywhere?(It should work like minecraft where it gets filled up progressively)
If you find something interesting like the entrance to the caves that go down to the vulcanic area good luck finding it again unless you have a beacon on hand(unless you have the big sub with storage space you aren't going to waste any inventory space for a beacon since you have so little inventory space)
