I downloaded 4 today and played 4 hours.
The game is reaaaaaaally boring and easy, it feels like the entire game is "protect the cargo" and "destroy these stationary tanks that do no damage to you" missions
Also the AI is fricking moronic and you can easily cheese everything

Being better than AC5 does not make something decent, it makes it better than complete unplayable shit that nobody on the planet asked for.
Sure ACV was bad, but 4 was still decent. And better than everything that came after (until, hopefully, 6).
The OST was kino because it exclusively focused on creating a mood for the level itself and managed to make tense situations feel more urgent. The constantly changing garage theme immerses you in the story and you actually feel the slight panic as the 24 hour time window starts counting down. Pride of lions perfectly encapsulates what the game wants to do by basically screeching at the player and making you feel unwelcome and has a good tempo to keep pace with. If you actually thought the boss fights were boring and this isn't just a standard (you) bait then I think you're a subhuman with no capacity for enjoyment. Buy AC6

Regardless of it's quality, just the connection From built up from Souls will make it sell and review better than any other AC game. This is fact.

The very first one. Regardless of any genwarring that's gonna start after your comment I think AC1 is a must-play for just about anyone interested in the series.
AC1 is just AC3 with worse graphics and less content.
There is no reason to play 1 when 3 exists.

Just play in release order, ignoring the PSP games. AC1 and its standalone expansions are great games despite some chunkiness.

Master of Arena is the best in the franchise, just play that.
It can't be worse than Armored Core 2. Utterly dogshit mission design, even the most mobile-oriented AC still can't move for shit (even compared to AC1), absurdly stringent ammo limits, drops to single digit fps constantly. Just shit and not fun at all compared to the PS1 games.

Imported my fat piece of shit AC from Nexus, biggest fricking tank treads with the strongest weapons possible on it. Rolled right through Last Raven just tanking everything until the final mission where you are forced to use something fast to avoid the bombardment, where I finally had to change.

No? Far from it. AC4 and ACV are far worse, with ACV being worse then AC4. I'd also argue disc 1 of Nexus is dogshit.
Oh and I guess there's also Ninebreaker, that one is shittier then V, but it doesn't "really" count.

This is actually the best AC game - best story, best mechanics, highest difficulty. I S ranked all missions, despite that it left me kind of numb for a while (it was not worth it).
