Literally no reason to subjugate yourself with these dogshit ports when FBNeo and Fightcade exist
you must be fun at parties
Because all the best parties have 3D0 Street Fighter II
All the ones I've been to yeah. Usually Gex and Captain Quazar too
ebin clapback, kind stranger
If you have the Capcom 3DO controller for it sure. Otherwise it's great except for the controls.
Mouth breathing morons
Is it better than Saturn port?
Isn't the saturn arcade perfect? saturn also has a better controller
Saturn isn't Arcade perfect but it's very good. I think the speed is still noticeably different from the arcade, but if you're not a tourneygay and just want to play vs friends and CPU it's probably excellent.
the guys who made 3rd party controllers for the 3DO knew SSF2T was gonna be a thing, right?
how was it that their controllers, who looked like an SNES controller, werent properly wired for that purpose?
Is this the controller you're talking about? Sure is a weird one. I hope it's more comfortable to use than it looks.
Sovl…
i wonder why didnt Capcom also made a CPS Fighter Stick for the 3DO. it made one for the SNES and the Genesis, and it was supposed to be the official CPS changer console platform (which ended up having only 3-4 games so far)
There was an official 3dO arcade stick.
>and it was actually made with the game in mind.
im gonna take a guess and say that back then this shit was even harder to get than a CPS Fighter or the handle, am i correct?
Not hard to get, just expensive.
I had no idea this existed. It looks pretty nice, honestly.
There is a Super Famicom version which is identical other than colors.
The buttpn layout was moronic, L X R, Y, B, A, where it should have been Y, X, L, B, A, R
>just buy this richboy failed console and 2 mutant controllers in daisy chain for a closer to arcade experience
It wasn't that great of a proposition even then. The redbook OST was tacky too. It was only special for a small window of time, too.
Literally no reason to use that subhuman shit when Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection exists for $29.99 + tax
>Paying for emulator+roms
You are the subhuman
That version is inferior to FBN.
>no hitboxes viewer
>no framedata
> no balance patches
CPS boards are still quite cheap
>just frick with superguns and JAMMA and arcade PCBs like a complete psycho
Reasonable and sane. Show your troon clutter.
Their supergun is tucked away behind the dresses
>Giving money willing to Capcom in 2023
lol, lmao even.
Why? They've been great for the last like 10 years. Are you confusing them with Konami?
theyve been one of the most consistently good devs since the 90s
There's not a single good gen 6-onwards Capcom game. They've been consistently shit
Name one advantage on playing that instead of fightcade.
You get to willingly give a multimillion dollar corporation money for worse work then that of fans who passionately work for free. Think of how happy you'll make those higher up suits who have never even heard of SF.
I've read some dumb shit on my time here, but this takes the cake.
Not him but
>Post dumb shit
>Get similarly dumb response
>Complain
What if I want non-CPS music? Huh? homosexual.
Give me one reason you're not only playing the final edition on the Switch
>paying for roms
>paying for a switch which is a literal 2013 tier tablet
It is not arcade perfect, just has a kino soundtrack and was super impressive for 1994 (same year as Super Street Fighter II on SNES and Genesis)
No, it actively plays worse than the arcades. Killer OST though thanks to CD audio
>muh console fightan ports
its just cope because no gaems, mames been out since 1997
But CPS2 encryption was not broken until 2001 (CPS2 Shock decryption)/2007 (MAME decryption).
This; your best choices for Super/ST were PC and 5th gen for awhile. Callus and MAME were capped at Turbo til 2001.
and then 9/11 happened.
Didnt there used to be a CPS1 version of Alpha1?
Allegedly the CPS Changer version of SFA1 and the CPS1 version of Power Battle were the backdoors since both still has the keys despite being ported to encryption-free hardware.
It's clearly better than SNES and Mega Drive SF II ports, but arcade is still noticably better.
Isn’t SF2 for matching service on Dreamcast the best ?
I hate Dreamcast versions of Capcom 2D fighting games because of uneven pixel scaling which made the whole picture look like shit. Even games with native 240p support like 3rd strike looked like shit at any video resolution. Ironically, 3do super turbo suffered from the same problem in menus, character selection, versus screen and hud. Ingame sprites are fine though.
Saturn versions were 1:1 pixels and looked much better even with lower resolution. Many had "arcade screen size" setting which allowed characters to go a bit beyond screen borders so that the whole arcade screen width was simulated even though small parts of it were hidden with smaller Saturn horizontal res (352 vs 384).
Personally the only fighter port that makes me say "DC version or I'm not playing at all" is MvC2
Was there a better port of the first Soul Calibur? I remember people hyping up that version a lot.
I believe the DC version is still the favourite, it actually looked better than the arcade. Not to mention the content they added is still some of the best in any fighting game.
>it actually looked better than the arcade
lmao
kek
The SC1 cab was literally just a ps1.
I am moronic and thought it's about ST.
A PS1 with more VRam that is.
Most accurate to arcade
arcade sucks, what if you want to play a single-player campaign with the AI? then the port is better
This is what 99% of people do but 4chins fgc wannabes pretend all of their matches are against "competitive players"
It had a great arranged soundtrack and was above the snes/md ports but the saturn capcom collection version has improved framerate, parallax, and intact background animations (as well as best controller)
Let's see:
Character sprites and animations are almost identical to arcade, they look a bit different due to resolution scaling issues.
Backgrounds is where the 3DO version takes a hit. No parallax scrolling, fewer colors, lower resolution and overall less detail.
>Backgrounds is where the 3DO version takes a hit. No parallax scrolling, fewer colors, lower resolution and overall less detail.
The backgounds are missing a ton of animation too.
no because you dont have an appropriate controller
i had the system in the 90s and never saw this game nor the needed (weird) controller
there are modern adapter solutions now
but realistically this is WAY under the radar
I almost got one of these for street fighter 2 back in the day
Also note that this version does not have "old" versions of characters so RIP Sagat mains.
This reviewed very well at the time and had me envious. I 'only' had ssf2 for the snes, so the 3do in game character portraits, inclusion of akuma and super specials, and richer colours had me ogling screenshots back in the day
Isn't it just an inferior version of the FM Towns port?
FM Towns has Super Street Fighter II, not Super Turbo. Honestly after a certain point I feel like it comes down to personal preference
I wish Hyper SF2 had more legs competitively.
>Be 3DO
>release console in 1993
>after Street Fighter II, a game you very much planned to port to your system, which requires 6 buttons, became the hottest shit in the world
>after the SNES standardized 6 buttons
>After Sega caved in and admitted 3 buttons were insufficient and came out with a 6 button controller that became their standard issue one
>release console with a 3 button controller
I'm curious if anyone at the company brought this up and was just shouted down or if they all had their head up their ass. It still makes absolutely no sense to release some fancy new console that's supposed to be cutting edge and price it accordingly when it doesn't even have features standard on older, less expensive consoles.
Replace the headphone jack with 3 more face buttons and a analog stick and this issue will be fixed.
Extra ram packs would've helped too.
Works fine for rail shooters though
I thought it had 5 buttuns in total?
it does, tbf even with those 2, really it wouldnt have helped with SF.
are you counting the start/select buttons or did the thing have shoulder buttons I don't know about?
It had shoulder buttons. A lot of the controllers I've seen posted here add a sixth button, but I'm not familiar with the 3DO technology so I can't confirm how that works.
It supposedly has the same soundtrack as the FM Towns version, different from the PC CD soundtrack, so it is still interesting to hear while playing. It does lack background animations but plays fine. It was the one of few home console versions of the game at the time, which could be savings from paying to play at an arcade.
I own Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Grand Master Challenge on the CPS2 arcade,3DO, HD Shitmix,Hyper Anniversary Edition PS2/Xbox, and cd-r copies of PS1/Saturn. All I need now is the GBA port for my infinity gauntlet to set things right. Come at me bro.
>GBA port
Into the trash it goes. PC port is decent.
