I mean yeah you can take your time with it, any pokemon game will last longer if you want it to. but OP is clearly just looking to do the campaign and get it over with, and you can do that pretty quickly if that's your intent. you have to go out of your way to make it 80 hours.
and yeah there's a lot of content between the first two gyms but it doesn't actually take that long in pure gameplay hours, and the pace of the rest of the game is pretty quick
And also even rushed it's longer than other games. Between 1 and 2nd gym there's 6 routes. Lumiose is gigantic and in theory even rushing youd want to explore it. And it has one of the highest amounts of antagonist events with twice backtracking

you really don't, well maybe just out of autism completionist brain, but the camera makes exploring Lumiose a nightmare to navigate and it doesn't really pay off unless you're in completionist mode. if OP is just trying to see the story he can pretty safely skip exploring most of it

did mobile games even exist in 2013, besides flappy bird? i didn't have a smart phone at any rate, just played at a steady pace and bowled through the entire game because it provided no real resistance at any point. it's a blazing quick game to play through if that's all you're doing. i've got a current playthrough of X where i've managed to get something like 60 hours out of the game before the second visit to lumiose, pokémon games are as long as you want to make them last.

I took 1 week to finish white, 2 or 3 to finish White 2, 1 month to finish X, 1 month or more to finish alpha sapphire, and 1 month or less to finish moon and sun
To only beat the league in scarlet i took months. i cant even count them. like 4-5 months. And all considered with DLCs i beat terapagos in probably 180 hours. I still havent finished it either because i have to even start the last episode
brother you are talking to the king of putting hundreds of hours into pokémon. i think i beat terapagos with something like 790? got 350 in my playthrough of sun right now too, and even as a kid i remember put 580 into emerald. good times 🙂
Yes. One tip though: If you don't want to be super overleveled, turn off the exp share when it's given to you, and don't use Pokemon Amie. If you do want to be overleveled or train up multiple teams, turn it on and pet your Pokemon.
I've seen people rush through it in a lot less. It all depends how you play, whether you do optional bits and try to catch all the stuff in a route, or just rush to the next gym as quickly as possible.

not worth playing ever. you will make your life slightly worse by playing it. if you want an overall better life, don't ever play it. if you want to die with regret, play this dogshit worthless game where the people who made it should have had their heads crushed into paste for making this fricking shit. all of them that aren't dead need to be, and if any of them have died since it was made they frickin deserved it.
It stands out the least out of most games and generations in the series. There's just no novelty to it. It's funny to watch people realize this lately across all mediums of the internet ever since they decided to "catch up" on Kalos before Legends 2 releases.
