Is trails in the sky worth slogging through? I heard it's quite slow until chapter 2.

Do you like marvel and superhero plotlines while too contrarian to admit it? Do you love shounen anime? If yes to both of these, you will absolutely love the trails series.
breasts 1 doesn't have any of that shit, really. It's the most grounded game in the entire series.
As a whole I like the Trails games, but you have to understand that they're moronic, and they've only gotten more moronic. The battle system is a bit tedious in the Sky and Crossbell games, even if the design itself is good, but the Cold Steel games made it less slow without taking away from the depth.
wait until the remake
nta but there's gonna be a remake
Will it be good
>wait until the demake
kys
I played it recently. Was pretty good.
There is no slogging through in JP-KINO
Avoid Kiseki
Despite the deliberate pace of the series, it keeps things interesting via fun NPC's, great characters, and engaging combat
Do not avoid Kiseki
Anyone who mentions slog with Kiseki does not deserve the Ultimate JP-KINO
Honestly, no. Unless you're really into cliche anime tropes and all that. Chapter 2 is also "slow".
What's stopping (You) from playing Kiseki?
3 slow 5 me
Should of been a gaiden instead of a main line entry.
>should of
kys
Implying the main story was not Estelle and Joshua's which is wrapped up in 2.
I have a full time job that drains all my energy
I'm lazy.
i've never seen a convincing argument to why this series is worth playing
It's very simple. If you're a huge anime fan, you will probably be able to handle all the anime cringe it has and enjoy it for what it is. If you aren't then you're in for a very boring time.
i don't really care if it has anime cringe (i like kingdom hearts) but the fact that it looks so generic kills my interest
also, i'm not a big fan of character-driven stories, so it doesn't seem like the kind of thing i would like anyway
Trails and Trails 2 are good. Trails 3 is a neat little epilogue if you enjoyed the first two. Everything after that is lazy anime cliches and recycles plot elements from Trails.
It's as generic as generic gets in terms of gameplay. The story is endearing for the Trails part of it, but that's all it has going for it. Also the games are overpriced as shit, even on sale, so you're better off emulating the PSP versions.
Find, replace "Trails" with "Sky", I'm tired, frick you
The entire series is a slog.
I enjoyed the game from the beginning I don't get this "bruh it only gets good 7 games in" bullshit that people spread here.
That's just reanposting
With how much I love Ys and Gurumin I don't understand how I haven't given these series a try, I'm going to buy the first one the next time they are on sale on Steam.
Wondering the same thing despite liking it so far. I took a break for a bit, I'm like 14 hours in and I've done all the side stuff. I guess not playing with turbo adds to that.
>Gurumin
Is it good?
Gurumin is super basic but it is quite charming, easily worth a playthrough.
very much so. I quit playing sky fc in the first chapter to play another series, came back and mainlined it. if you dive in completely you will love it.
If you like shounen anime and you haven't ever played a jrpg before you'll probably think it's amazing.
What if I dislike shonen anime and have played a JRPG before?
You might like sky trilogy and that's it
Literally the opposite. Trails is for people who do like JRPGs and focuses on things that genre enthusiasts enjoy, like the extensive npc dialogue and consistent worldbuilding.
Casuals and newcomers prefer flashy graphics and spectacle moments, that's what Final Fantasy is for.
All Final Fantasy's between 6 and 10 have better story and world building than any Trails game.
>world building
nuh uh
you're just wrong and that's okay. if your only point of jrpg reference is ff then you've got an opinion worth discarding anyways, can't expect much from a tourist anyways
Frick no. Only 7 has a better story than Trails but still weaker worldbuilding.
OMG NO THE FIRST CHAPTER NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
It's good if you stop at azure.
The series completely becomes infantilized in Cold Steel.
how so
Cold steel becomes a military battle harem, the generals of an imperial army are cool with a 15 year old self insert having a war changing mech and they're just cool with it as I said it becomes infantilized, friendship is magic and time travel
Neither Estelle, nor Joshua were big shots in the army, Estelle's father, a military hero, was.
>we should let a 16 year old girl lead a countercoup against elite military men because....she shines like the sun.
When did she lead anything? It's the opposite, when shit hit the fan Agate even said "yo you should step down since youre just children, i'll handle the rest"
When the elite palace guards, several senior bracers and Joshua told her to take the lead at the end of FC. Play the games, groomer.
literally never happened, the ones leading were shera, agate and zing, also joshua's opinion never meant shit to anyone.
>Faceless fodder soldiers being outshined by the protagonists? What nonsense!
is final fantasy also infantilized because the protagonists are teenagers? that doesnt make sense
I like how you ignored the rest you dishonest little moron
It's battle shounen dredge
time travel doesnt mean a story is infantilized dumbass
It does, and when the world prays for Rean probably the most baffling shit out there straight out of a marvel movie.
Not even you'd have to enjoy harem anime made for fat morons. Then maybe you'll get your enjoyment every one of your classmates are walking cardboard archetypes you've seen a thousands times even in the most generic battle harem anime
>when the world prays for Rean
lmao is there a youtube video of that scene? i only played sky
first chapter is very short anyway. it's basically a prologue that was sold separately.
its 50 hours dumbass
the only way you're getting 50 hours out of FC is if you spend 40 hours backtracking to see if the NPC dialogue is updated
Which you should be doing if you actually wanna engage with the most unique aspect of the series.
it's a great way to hate the series and drop it early
I wouldn't force it on anyone if they hate it but at least they should be aware it exists and give it a go, it's one of the standout aspects of these games for a reason.
I started cold Steel back when people said it was a good starting game. Midway through people changed their mind and said every game was important to enjoy and understand Cold Steel fully. I went back to Sky and was bored to death. Mind you I didnt love cold Steel either. It was just fine. Id put it slightly above the neptunia games. Like a 5.5/10
Cold Steel 1 and 2 are more or less standalone and can be played first, but you should play Sky and Crossbell before CS3 onwards. I say this as someone who played all four Cold Steel games before the older ones.
trails in the sky fc took me three years to finish, i kept dropping it due to it exhibiting literally every stale anime trope in existence. eventually i strapped myself into the chair clockwork orange-style and forced myself to finish it
looks like fg and the siscord is here just let the thread die honestly
wtf r u talkin bout
I hate the discord so much, so many leftist c**ts.
Embodiment of kusoge.
