>morons who have characters "prepared" just for the DLC are so fricking stupid
sorry I don't want to spend 60 hours playing the base game the night when the dlc drops
holy shit it's been two years.
yea dude, idk. i'll see how frickhard the bosses are. i gave up at elden beast. horoah liux and his little ballet dance was the last straw. i loved adventuring and fricking around for 100 hours but these endless combo dodgefest boss fights wore me out.
they missed a big opportunity to include a cool guard system like sekiro-lite. the bosses are just a notch or two above sane without something more robust
I'm doing another run since release. Heavy load shield + hammer with some faith. Its been mostly smooth sailing but now Malenia is just pain. Sometimes I can blitz her down to phase 2 with my mimic but then I choke and others she owns us. Had to jump down to medium load so I can move faster, dodge and regen stamina a little faster.
I have an int hybrid at 125 and a faith hybrid at like 107 which are both basically ready for the dlc, as well as a pure dex build at 60 which I could level up a bit if necessary
yes, he's sitting in mohg's arena until it comes out
i'm not gonna play it until then, I ruined my experience with the second ds3 dlc by burning myself out playing too much right before it released
i like the pants, choice, goes with the forearm coverings and the overall theme. Shit like this is what roleplaying is about, not just tacking on all the strongest shit you can find
Other option is go all int and min Str requirement, use royal greatsword and waves of darkness on something thicc. All in all it’s too niche though, should stick the the tried and true Str/fth and dex/int.
Dex/fth didn’t have much of an identity this time around other than black knife wanna be, great lightning spear is dex and no dex claw mark seal? Come on Mike teriyaki
my most recent playthrough was an int/dex dual curved sword build with wing of astel and some other random one that I infused
and holy moly the fricking damage, not to mention the skill on the wing of astel is a stagger factory
>STR/INT run
I did that like a year ago, using mostly gravity weapons.
My problem was that they were all STR weapons with an INT tax => My build was just a STR build with 30 INT.
Also Fallingstar Beast Jaw scales far better with DEX than STR
Not counting unique straight swords I should have specified. I've been rolling a Lordsworn Straight Sword and I stuck flame art to it cause I have 30 faith. I like it enough I was just wondering if anyone had any further insight on it. I like this level 100 character. I kept all my weapon levels 2 or 3 levels below max because it lets me get summoned to more places. Like still getting summoned to Hogwarts.
I put storm blade on my sword. It catches and murders a surprising number of invaders. I assumed it must not be used much in PvP or maybe they were all just terrible.
Kinda wanted to do a faith build since it would be a lot different from my unga bunga strength build that spent the whole game spamming jumping attacks. Got overwhelmed looking at the spell list so I just didn't play it again.
just pick one school of spells. the dragon cult and beast spells are cool. i did a character with a lightning buffed brick hammer, stone of gurranq and lightning spear. was lots of fun
Going into the dlc with this guy, arcane is really fun, even when you dont have an optimized build, like mine, the dragon seal and bleed help you keep doing good damage, which is not the case with some other hybrid builds.
Now if you optimize your arcane build its just straight broken.
what even is the pve level meta in this game? I got in an argument with an anon a while ago because he was absolutely seething because I said 125 felt like a completely fine place to stop, and the character I'm going into the dlc with is at about that level
he went on an unhinged tirade about malenia being able to 2 shot me at that level (utterly false lol) and then started spouting out a bunch of shit about pvp which I don't give a flying frick about
Stay around 50 and don't upgrade weapons over +4 somber.
That lets you do PvE from limgrave to Liurnia to Altus Pleatau. Just be careful about the summoning pools you activate.
Choose your level depending on the challenge you want, 125 is good for hybrids because you get some lvls to waste, but you can go lower for pure str or dex and be fine, more than 125 its just feels like you just get everything, tanky as frick and you still do a lot of damage.
Then again I heard that there is a mechanic that scales your character in the DLC so maybe it doesnt matter at all.
that's kinda why I'm apprehensive to go higher
my build is fine and if I start pumping more it won't even feel like a "build" anymore, it's the DS2 problem
PvE meta level? I guess if you mean the "endgame" RL, I always find myself from 140 to 150. Anything 120 and above is definitely passable for completing NG with relative ease, though, depending on how well you're built.
Duelgay PvP meta level is 150, but 150 is awful for actually good PvP (invasions) because it's just Maliketh/Malenia/Radagon fog wall invasions and people blitzing through NG+ Stormveil.
thanks anon
i'm curious tho, how tf did pvp meta become 150? That seems so fricking boring. At 150 you can build for pretty much whatever. It just reminds me of dark souls 2 when everyone was full armorgayging with str weapons while also spamming hexes
>That seems so fricking boring.
Duelgays are, indeed, that. 80-120 has the most interesting builds, at least as far as what I see when invading.
Pretty much why I used to love SL50 and 70 in DaS. Sure, you'd get the odd Lightning Nerd but everybody's build was much more focussed.
The only build I ever liked at SL120 was my TGSoA build because it was specifically built around that weapon and the absurd utility it could also provide because it had to sacrifice so much for it.

All the same build, and all because some random anon wanted a buddy to do these 2 and made me create it.
because magic hybrid builds are meta
infusions and weapon arts mean it's incredibly worthwhile to use split damage in melee, and all the unique weapons have higher physical scaling
unlike in dark souls 3 which has essentially the same softcaps and stat system, but magic in general is weaker and less fun, and there's fewer special weapons that scale with magic, and split damage is much weaker.
also it's longer, so players naturally level way past 125 in a full run, and the bosses are harder.
Flame Art tends to give the biggest number if you aren't buffing (I usually don't buff because I CBA) however I like to use cold on big weapons, or bleed if I'm feeling lazy. Status procs mog most sources of flat damage. Weapon Arts are also a big factor.
For reference, I use the Sewer Omens for testing and they have close to 10K HP at this level.
a cold + fire dual wield setup would probably be pretty good, now that i think of it. also yeah, those omen are good punching bags. i just wish they didnt have sacred resist cause it fricks up numbers sometimes.
Will it add anything to make the dogshit, empty open world even the slightest bit interesting? If there's huge contrast between this DLC and the base game's world it's going to prove the open world of the base game was an afterthought.
Arguably. It's been forever since I played.
Not really happy with this chest armor but I can't find anything suitably 'skinny' to go with the rest of the setup.
I mean sorta. I'll probably just end up rebuilding this guy. I'm particular that way. usually just hotswap the greatsword/axe and unequip the bow as needed tho.
>or a Crucible Knight
If you haven't made a "paladin" character in ER yet, you definitely should. They've got some of the most stuff to play with compared to other archetypes.

Also, ER got shit on really hard for the last areas. You have to live under the rock to never notice this criticisms.
I am trying to make an STR/Arcane build for the DLC but I still haven't decided in which armor/weapon I should focus for end game. The Greatsword moveset feels pretty good to use but I really hate how it looks on Elden Ring.
Moghs spear is the no brainer here. If you are looking for occult for some reason, there are a handful of strength weapons that retain a high strength scaling and get the B in arcane, letting them scale to huge ARs at obscene levels. Warped axe, great mace and giant crusher come to mind.
If you are looking for bleed, it’s less obvious and you can slap it on most things. Warped axe with its great axe level status buildup again comes to mind, great stars, omen cleaver, and star fist which is op.
I had a lot of fun rolling two bleed broadswords and going for a gladiator look. Also serpent god curved sword heals on kill, perfect for slapping on blood slash and using it to sustainably delete field trash.

Nah, I might make a new character when it goes on sale for $15, which is all I believe it's worth.

Should I do a STR/INT run for my next playthrough? I did FAI/DEX the first time and that was pretty cool
STR/INT is literally full STR with 20 INT so you can use unique weapons
If that sounds fun, sure
Other option is go all int and min Str requirement, use royal greatsword and waves of darkness on something thicc. All in all it’s too niche though, should stick the the tried and true Str/fth and dex/int.
Dex/fth didn’t have much of an identity this time around other than black knife wanna be, great lightning spear is dex and no dex claw mark seal? Come on Mike teriyaki
str/int and dex/int both have some very fun options
yeah I second the int/dex
the weapons are a lot more fun, and you can afford to invest a lot more into magic
same with faith/dex over faith/strength
my most recent playthrough was an int/dex dual curved sword build with wing of astel and some other random one that I infused
and holy moly the fricking damage, not to mention the skill on the wing of astel is a stagger factory
yeah wing of astel is really fun
I like running two of them with a scarab helm
>STR/INT run
I did that like a year ago, using mostly gravity weapons.
My problem was that they were all STR weapons with an INT tax => My build was just a STR build with 30 INT.
Also Fallingstar Beast Jaw scales far better with DEX than STR
What? The scaling is equal, it's a quality weapon.
What's the best way to get the most damage out of a single straight sword on a level 100 character? Fire?
I don't think you can do better in damage department than Carian Knight's Sword's fully charged Carian Grandeur
Not counting unique straight swords I should have specified. I've been rolling a Lordsworn Straight Sword and I stuck flame art to it cause I have 30 faith. I like it enough I was just wondering if anyone had any further insight on it. I like this level 100 character. sword of night and flame probably
Yes, using the official Elden Ring guide from Fextralife
As-salamu alaykum, Ganker.

NTA but what difference does that make?
i would say about 150, but some people like 125. i naturally finish the game around 160 or so (no grinding) so i dont think 150 is unreasonable.

wow what a shit ass stat allocation. You could probably get like 50 extra damage just by pumping str and dex to 99
more like 150

I am trying to make an STR/Arcane build for the DLC but I still haven't decided in which armor/weapon I should focus for end game. The Greatsword moveset feels pretty good to use but I really hate how it looks on Elden Ring.
The Marias Executioner Sword or whatever it's called looks badass and as a really cool weapon art

post malone is going to personally investigate
I have all the arcane scaling items collected and upgraded, I am ready to make the DLC's butthole bleed and rupture.
I hope the DLC has a clawmark seal equivalent for sorceries
They said there will be a separate leveling system apart form the main game so players won't have to be worried about being overpowered or underleveled..
not gonna play it. I refuse to play any kind of dlc.
It's more of an expansion.
still shoehorned stuff, like any post content release.
it's just extra game
I don't see why you would take this kind of moral stance
Fromsoft DLCs usually have the best bosses and weapons
Or are you one of "those" people who pretend to care about story in their games?
I'm not playing this shit game until the calculatedly better DLC is released
Hi, im currently at lvl 225 and finished ng+ as a str./ faith user. Am i too overleveled for the dlc, what do you think?
I am still trying to finish the soul series before I prep for the DLC.
Yeah I'm ready because i'm a RONIN WARRRIORRRRR actually I used Moonveil for most of the game, but heard it was nerfed big time so gonna have to find some new main weapon for the DLC. I switched my builds up pretty often as well, so not sure what build I'll do for the DLC, probably INT/DEX.
>i used AIDS most of the game, but now that it's nerfed, i'll switch to cancer.

if i go back now i unironically forgot how to play the game
