It's eight small fricking lines are you fricking kidding me?

Oh wait I got it, it's a new trick by shills to put a bait in the first replies on top of the fake outrage thread itself to generate as much discussion as possible, right?
Not say they’re the “only” thing that constitutes a game being an rpg. But having an attributes points system, skill checks, etc. are all a major part of what makes rpgs. They’re supposed to be a video game form of table top roleplaying games. That’s literally where the name comes from.
BG3 is so loved because it’s the only major AAA in like 10 years to understand this. It’s a straight up rpg and doesn’t apologize for it. It doesn’t try to be a ubishit knockoff, a gta clone, or a watered down action game with a skill tree. Like many other games(including cyberpunk)that try to put themselves underneath the rpg banner.
>Like many other games(including cyberpunk)that try to put themselves underneath the rpg banner.
There's almost no accepted, snappy definition of "rpg" that they can't squeeze in under. That's the problem.
>They’re supposed to be a video game form of table top roleplaying game
No wonder the genre is so fricking trash
have a nice day. I have more respect for VN "players" than I have for subhuman moviegame enjoyers like you. Die
What makes RPGs good in the first place? I hear same complaint about Cyberpunk and FFXVI but I've yet to see anyone explaining why RPGs are good compared to focused action games?
>why do people want a video game based on one of the most beloved pen & paper RPGs of all time to be an actual RPG and not a poor interpretation of a rockstar game?
idk anon, you tell me…..
it's not been an RPG since it got re-revealed (same time when the sunposting started), let's be frank
was probably only an RPG during the earliest stages of pre-production. Ironically, the Personal Responsibility trailer everyone holds up as Look What They Took From You material was likely used to recruit the very people who would change the look and direction of the project completely
it CAN'T be an rpg moron the same way fallout4 is precluded from being rpg by definition, you're forced into V's same story no matter the skills, origins, or sex you pick, there is only one role and that is V
Your V can be a >hacker/stealth >assasin/stealth >tank/assault >pacifist/diplomat
and you can play however you want. By that metric it's more RPG than games like BG3 which forces you to combat almost after every dialogue choice. Not saying it's perfect by any means since many missions forces you to combat but sure is alot better than choosing to play as mage/fighter or melee/fighter.
I'm not a shill but you know it's true CRPGgay. Immersive sims are the greates and most "RPG" genre ever made and Cyberpunk has more imsim elements than """real RPGs""".
>By that metric it's more RPG than games like BG3
Jesus Christ, this man just called Cyberpunk's character system more RPG-like than Dungeons and Dragons
BG3 >All the characters ends up as some kind of fighter >Real RPG
Cyberpunk >You can be a hacker, melee brawler, guns blazing soldier, stealth operator >Not an RPG
>you think Role Playing Game means a role playing game? semantics!
Anon I'm with ya, but the entire naming convention itself is flawed. There's no mistake as to what kind of game you're referring to when you say "fps" or "platformer".
RPG has a well enough definition. The problem lies with the vagueness of action, adventure, survival, and open world genres, and any time you sprinkle RPG elements into these genres idiots get confused.
good
i feel like too many games take "rpg" as a sign it needs arbitrary damage numbers and scaling
it can be an rpg if you just have your "skill" choices be meaningful
like if you put your skill point into swords you can do advanced moves or something with it
This is pure delusion. While it’s true that they should have picked one genre and stuck to it, it’s way too late to fix this mess. Cyberpunk’s gameplay is a joke compared to any real FPS and you know it. You can’t just decide you want to turn a game into a viable FPS years into development. That’s not how it works. Do not fall for CDPR’s sweet nothings.
It wasn't RPG to begin with.
Nothing needs to be anything
It's eight small fricking lines are you fricking kidding me?

Take meds
cybertrash
CDPR is incapable of making an actual rpg.
The worst thing to happen to rpgs are the morons who think 1% damage increases are good game design
Go play cookie clicker you degenerate Black folk

We aren't talking about the embarrassing TORtanic 2.0 though.

what?

what did they change?
You already lost Shazamtrannies, just take the L

Okay but why RPGs are good?
RPGs were never about numbers you fricks.

Ask me how I know you are a shill
I'm not a shill but you know it's true CRPGgay. Immersive sims are the greates and most "RPG" genre ever made and Cyberpunk has more imsim elements than """real RPGs""".
immersive-sim homosexuals really are the worst, huh?
Why are you lying?
>By that metric it's more RPG than games like BG3
Jesus Christ, this man just called Cyberpunk's character system more RPG-like than Dungeons and Dragons
BG3
>All the characters ends up as some kind of fighter
>Real RPG
Cyberpunk
>You can be a hacker, melee brawler, guns blazing soldier, stealth operator

>story
Go play a visual novel, moron. There’s your branching narratives you want so bad
The story is the problem. You're still the same homosexual main character just like how in Fallout 4 you're the same homosexual yelling about MUH SON.
What with those utterly braindead semantics homosexuals who think the definition of RPG is "any game where you play a role"
>you think Role Playing Game means a role playing game? semantics!
Anon I'm with ya, but the entire naming convention itself is flawed. There's no mistake as to what kind of game you're referring to when you say "fps" or "platformer".

Go on then.
They’re mentally stunted zoomers who never got to experience an era where games had clear differentiation. Everything is homogenized now.
good

it can be an rpg if you just have your "skill" choices be meaningful
like if you put your skill point into swords you can do advanced moves or something with it
All "RPG" means now is the game has dating sim shit.
Black person i am not buying your shitty halfassed neon gta frick off already
Don't disrespect the actual neon GTA like that
It's a good thing, make a good shooter instead of a mediocre RPG and a mediocre shooter

idgaf if they can or can't do it, it's still an objectively good design decision and that all my post was saying.
Does this mean they got rid of the shitty Diablo loot copypasted everywhere?
the numbers are only meaningless in a game like cybertroony.
